Uploads stalling?

I'm having trouble uploading anything to my FTP server, or any other FTP servers, for that matter, including my iDisk.
The file apparently starts uploading, but stops pretty quickly, and just hangs there.
I've plugged my computer straight into my DSL modem, and it functions fine- it's just when I try to upload anything via my wireless connection, it chokes, and on multiple computers. Any ideas?

I'm having FTP problems as well, but this advice caused me to hard-reset my Airport Extreme, as it seems the DSL was giving my IP address only to the Airport, which blocked any other IP from sharing the connection.

  • Win 8.1 OneDrive upload stalls, no indicator, no error

Now that OneDrive offers 1TB of storage, I am attempting to upload all of my music, videos, and pictures - about 225GB of data. This is not working. OneDrive mysteriously stalls the upload. There are no indications of the upload stalling/stopping/pausing.
I know it is stalled ONLY because I'm looking at network traffic and it is ZERO!
If I check the Win 8 OneDrive app, the app indicates there "2 actions in progress..." Bringing the OneDrive app into context by clicking it, CPU utilization rises dramatically.  Sometimes to 80-90% range. Bring anything else back into
the foreground, CPU util drops to a couple of %.  There is no impact by having/not having and upload in progress.  CPU util is a bug in the OneDrive app.  Intermittent, btw, for anybody that wants to file a bug on it.
If I check the systray icon in Desktop by floating my mouse over it, the tooltip says, "Uploading 87.2 GB of 149.3 GB (58%)" (btw, due to restarts, it adusted the 225GB down to 150GB).  However that's wrong.  Nothing is actually uploading.
If I click the systray icon a small console pops up with the syncing icon appearing and the following text displayed:
    "Uploading - 58% complete
    4904 items remaining
    Sync
    Pause syncing
    Open OneDrive in File Explorer"
Again, this is wrong as there is ZERO network traffic.
If I click the "Pause syncing" link, OneDrive is confused and thinks an error occurred.  It displays the exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle and states:
    "File syncing is paused
    4904 items couldn't be uploaded
    View sync problems
    Resume syncing
    Open OneDrive in File Explorer"
Obviously this is wrong, there was no error.  Why it now displays the status as "paused", when clearly based on network traffic it was already paused, I don't know.  It's been paused all along.  If I click the "Resume syncing"
link, the sync will indeed resume to the maximum rate of my outbound internet connection (about 6.5Mbps).  However, when I come back to my PC after an hour or so, I find the same state:  No network traffic, but OneDrive is indicating a sync is in
    progress.
I have gone through all the power options to disable sleep, disable hibernation, disable drive shutdown, disable monitor shutoff, etc.  I went through network adapter advanced config and disabled power off (which is for power savings).
First off, while a sync is in progress, Windows should be smart enough to know NOT to shut down or enter low power modes, but due to bugs, that is not the case.  Second, even after modifying the power profile and keeping my PC and all ancillary hardware
alive, OneDrive still pauses and does so without any indicators anywhere.  OneDrive appears to think the transfer is still going.
I have verified all updates are installed.  I have rebooted my PC.  I've sat here and watched over it hoping to catch the problem, but have never seen it occur while I'm active on my PC.  I've verified this same problem occurs on other PCs.
    I'm out of ideas.
What is the point of having 1TB of storage if I can't upload anything to it?  Uploading this much data at 6.5Mbps will take days.  I cannot sit here and babysit my PC for days on end to find a workaround for Windows/OneDrive bugs.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Michael

  • File uploads stalling when using mac browsers?!

Im having a recurring issue where i cannot complete file uploads to popular sites such as YouTube, SendSpace, FileLodge, DropLoad and YouSendIt.
On all mac browsers (safari, firefox, netscape etc) the upload starts as normal and (via a network monitor in dashboard) I can see that my 25kb upload speed is being utilised to its full capacity. But after around 5 mins (with bigger files) the upload seems to stall, and my network monitor shows no upload activity!!!
I use a Belkin Wireless Router to connect my mac and a PC laptop to the internet and have tried removing all its security/firewall settings (and OSX's) as a troubleshooting tactic, but still with the same results!
I have tried uploading to the same sites using Virtual PC on my mac and it DOES WORK as it is supposed to, so this rules out it being a router or ISP problem i think... no?
I can usually send smaller files.... under 5MB is usually ok, but these sites are designed for files up to 1GB!!! Please can someone tell me why this is happening and what i can do to fix it? Is this a mac software restriction?
    Thanks

    MajorTom,
There is not a restriction on the mac, I have successfully sent files to yousentit.com before
However I would have to guess it would be the Mac OS communicating with your internet connection, have you tried to connect the Mac directly to your Modem via ethernet?

  • ICloud drive upload stalled

I have iCloud Drive enabled on my iPad and am trying to upload my pix to iCloud Photo Library.
Upload has stalled at 119 items and no amount of restarting my iPad or signing in and out of iCloud makes any difference, I bought extra storage so its not a capacity issue. I had no problem moving my iPhone pix, this is very frustrating. Any thoughts folks?

I am checking iCloud Drive ahead of the launch of Photos for iMac.  On present evidence iCloud storage of my large photo library is not going to work so I will stick with Aperture and an external RAID drive.
On no account move your Aperture library to any network volume - it will not work and is unsupported. The syncing in a Dropbox or on iCloud Drive will break the links in the internal databases.
iCloud Drive is not meant for photo libraries, but iCloud Photo Library is. It is still Beta, but you can test it with the Photos.library on an iPhone or iPad.

  • FTP upload stalls at different percentages

I have sucessfully uploaded my site a dozen times over the last year, but it has suddenly stopped working. The only things that have changed on my system is that I updated to Windows 8.1 and I installed the free AVG antivirus software when my McAfee supscription ran out. When I had the AVG running, the stall would happen almost always when the first image was being uploaded - when I turned it off, it would stall at multiple different images/percentages complete - it got all the way to 90% once and then stopped. I got the following error twice at different places, but since then, I don't even get error messages anymore - it just hangs there until I press Cancel.
The error was: "Error:  Error uploading file u1914.png. Click Resume to try again. If this problem persists, try again later.  [450 Transfer aborted. Link to file server lost]"
I uninstalled AVG and reinstalled McAfee, but to no avail. I turned off the firewall and antivirus on McAfee and the same thing happened - stops at random image uploads and just hangs there. Can someone please tell me what to do to fix this issue? I need to update my website!

    Hi
Have you placed the assets/documents in external/sharing/network location ? If yes then try to copy them to local drive and relink them , then try to update the site.
Also, what happens if you do a export as html ? , if this works then you can use the exported files and copy them to root of your site using any FTP client , this way you can update your site.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • I am trying to upload files to an Apple hosted feed on KSU iTunes U (unpublished site). The file size shows as 2 GB even though the files are 50MB. The upload stalls and fails. Address:

I am trying to upload files to an Apple hosted feed on KSU iTunes U (unpublished site). The file size in the Feed Editor shows as 2 GB even though the files are 50MB. I am using Safari on Intel Mac 10.5.8. at Kennesaw State University. Any help would be appreciated.

This is the second day. I tried using a new Apple feed to test. Still not working. I uploaded a 50MB mp3 file. The first time the upload failed. The second time the file showed that it was uploading a 2 GB file. It has been about 20 minutes now and shows "3.5GB of 2.0GB 178% Completed". Now it has started uploading all over again - it is now showing 399.4MB or 2.0 GB - 19% Completed. I dont know if this will keep looping - but I am going to Cancel.
Please let me know what other information do you need from me. Definitely need some help with this!

  • External hosting server has problems uploading my images

Hi. I am experiencing difficulties getting my new hosting provider to upload my images. I use the upload to FTP on the file menu and I get a message in apop up window. "FTP - Validation, Could not validate that the specified domain is associated with the FTP server and folder. Proceed anyway? Yes / No"
This also occurred on my previous host provider and when I clicked Yes it uploaded OK and my site has been running for several months already.
My new host's support technician has been on the phone with me all afternoon trying to upload the files. It will upload the HTML files very quickly but then runs into problems with the images. So I have spent  a few hours renaming each file and saving them to web. I have made sure all images and assets are linked and in the same folder.  As the FTP upload struggles on it keeps stopping at various images the the computer freezes and I have to wait until it comes back to life. It doesn't crash.
My previous host's technicians and the present one suggested that the problem is in the software - Muse.
Has anyone else had these or similar problems?. Maybe I should rebuild in Dreamweaver?
Oh by the way, my website www.bilyz.com uploads to Adobe Business Catalyst without a problem. Try it and see.

Thanks for your help.  I have done as suggested and I have also tried alternative settings without successful upload. I have checked and double checked all the assets, then rechecked the sizes of each of my images before trying to upload to the FTP server.
    1.  I tried to upload with a forward slash in the folder field box - Result was a window " \public_html " does not exist. Do you want to create it?
    > OK
New window appears: Error creating folder [failed to MKD dir: 553]
    2. Forward slash: The requested folder "/public_home " does not exist. Do you want to create it?  > Yes.
New window: Could not validate that the specified domain is associated with the FTP server and folder. Proceed anyway? Yes
    3. New window appears: Title of window: Upload to FTP Host
                                    Overall upload progress: 65% complete
Then uploading stalls and a message appears: Error uploading file lucy.jpg. Click to resume. If problem persists, try again later. [FTP response timeout]
Each time I click on Resume the screen freezes for a while then returns to 'live' and it all begins again.  It is perplexing me why my site uploads to BusinessCatalyst without any problems.  It also uploaded to Namesco.co.uk without too much difficulty (my first upload)
Yesterday prior to contacting you the hosting technician at Vidahost.com took command of my computer and tried to see what the problem was but obviously without success and suggested that the Muse software could be at fault - which I doubt.
I have taken screen capture jpegs of the windows but don't understand how to include them.
    Kind regards
    Bill

  • Problem uploading images with php script.

As a webdebdesigner i developped a cms system to upload images with php to a mysql database. Firefox version 5.0.1 for MAC and earlier have no problems with uploading through the script. But after that version it is impossible to upload images bigger then 250kb. The page where the customer chooses his image for upload stalls and the form is not sent to the actual upload script, which should validate and process the image.
This problem only occurs in Firefox, all other browsers work just fine!
On top of that: Giving feedback to firefox not possible for MAC.

  • My macbook freezes when l try to upload photos

my macbook freezies when i try to upload photos to a web site.

When someone complains that their music upload stalls I immediately think of three problems:
    1) corrupt song(s)
    2) bad cable
    3) bad hard drive
The list is actually in reverse order of my expectations. Since you were able to format the drive it obviously hasn't suffered a hard crash but there might be a very large number of bad sectors. Go here to see how to put the iPod into diagnostic mode so you can further check the drive.
If the drive passes muster borrow another cable. And finally, create a playlist and verify that each song is good by playing it. See if it will sync. If it does, add more songs (verified good). Keep repeating.

  • Sharing photos on Facebook and Flickr

Hello. I'm a little concerned that photos I publish to Facebook and Flickr will be removed from these respective sites if they are inadvertently deleted from within IPhoto. What would happen if I reinstall OSX and start from scratch without restoring anything from TimeMachine? Would the two sites replicate with the new install, and then remove photos because they're not in IPhoto? Please advise before I invest a lot of time in using this new feature. Thanks in advance.

    Terence Devlin wrote:
But won't they be removed if you then sync a new Library with FaceBook?
I don't think so because the new library isn't the old library. In other words, unless you specifically are able to relink an album in iPhoto to a set in Flickr (and I assume the same is true for Facebook), iPhoto would have no way of knowing those photos are on Flickr (or Facebook). Even with the same names I doubt it will link up with the online versions. At least with the Flickr sets, iPhoto keeps a direct link to the set.
    For example...
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/pakphotog/sets/72157617564040837/
would be a set link. And you would have to somehow reassociate that link in iPhoto.
In my own experience in Flickr (I don't use Facebook), I have had uploads of set out of iPhoto go wrong where for whatever reason the upload stalls and you have to cancel out. Any photos that did make it to Flickr are orphaned by iPhoto and a Flickr set isn't created in iPhoto. If you then retry the album to flickr, it will reupload the same photos again since it doesn't know they are already there.
I have found that to be a rather frustrating problem with iPhoto and Flickr. I would love for iPhoto to have a way to upload to Flickr and NOT manage where they are in flickr including the ability to leave them in Flickr but not iPhoto.
For this reason I have been using FlickrExport for iPhoto, a third party plug in...
    http://connectedflow.com/flickrexport/
which allows you to do things like upload from iPhoto to existing Flickr sets or several different sets among other things. My only complain with that plug in is that it appears to disable iPhotos built in Flickr uploader which I still like to use as well (useful for uploading new full albums going into the same set). So the unfortunately work around seems to be to move the plug in out of the iPhoto folders and relauch to use built in flickr upload then put back and relaunch to use the plug in.

    Hey All,
I have a bit of an issue the heap memory in the Sun
    JVM with upload applets.
Please note I'm not a java programmer at all, I know
some asp, php and JavaScript but that is about it.
We use an upload applet to get data from our clients
into our website. Now if the file they are trying to
upload is over a certain size the upload stalls.
An "applet" means it is java.
We have, up till now been instructing users to go
into the Java program and add the following parameter
-Xmx256m. The 256 number could change depending the
size of the file and how much memory the user has.
Many users find this hard and some have made
    mistakes.
It would suggest to me that there is a problem with the applet. Although that depends on what you do with the data once you get it.
    Q. Is there a way to send the -Xmx256m parameter to
the JVM through an asp page?
Any way? Certainly. You could write an application (like in C++) that the user downloads and it reconfigures their computer to do absolutely anything.
You might even be able to do that via ASP. Can you impact the environment via ASP? If yes then you can do it.

  • Can iPhoto update the descriptions of photos shared to Flickr?

I just finished uploading 150-odd photos I took into iPhoto 9.5.1 (902.17) and annotated virtually all of them.  Having waited through the long, slow upload process I now notice that I made a number of typographical errors in the descriptions.  After I have corrected them in iPhoto, is there any way short of deleting the photos on Flickr and uploading again, to get iPhoto to update the descriptions, or do I need to go through and update them by hand on Flickr?

Intestingly enough, I see that some of the photos I uploaded to the Flickr photostream have an indication of that in the "information" display, but the bulk of them do not.  I think it may relate to my having selected 153 (148 photos, 5 short videos) in iPhoto and asking it to upload them all in the same go.  That upload "stalled-out" at some point and I ended-up having to do the last 20 or so (guessing) in a second upload.  I'm guessing that iPhoto didn't record the uploading for the first chunk

  • IOS 4.3.5 download issue

Each time I update my iPad software. (This time iOS 4.3.5) The upload stalls out when I use my iMac but succeeds when I use my Windows 7 machine. After OSX failure I use restore on Windows to resuscitate my iPad.
Interesting that iPad will upload from either OS. My iPods are very system specific.

I have this same problem. On my iPhone 4 running 4.3.5, when I download a podcast from inside the itunes app on my phone, it appears to download correctly, but doesn't show up in the list in the ipod app.

  • Appears to publish, but errors

I know this has been bounced around a lot, but I have been unable to find a definitive answer.
I have a domain file containing one site that suddenly gives me a publishing error right at the end. It appears to actually publish fine.
I have access to a different .mac account and can publish the same site, from the same system, without an error.
Guessing it's possibly a temporary problem, but seems odd.
I've deleted the site from the idisk, deleted the pref file, repaired permissions, re-booted, danced a jig and stood on my head. All to no avail. Did get a headache though.
    Anyone have a crystal ball?
Just tried it again and it worked. Go figure.

When I publish to a server using Yummy FTP, quite often the upload stalls or stops and Yummy reassures me by telling me what is happening and then resumes upload.
I sometimes wonder if this is what is happening in a .Mac transfer and these hiccups are responsible for the error message.
On the few occasions I have had this error notice while publishing to .Mac I ignore it, empty my cache and go look see. 9 times out of 10 the site has published successfully. The few times that it didn't, some patience - of which I have very little - and the passage of time usually fixes it.
Data transfer over the internet is like life itself - full of blind alleys and wrong turns!
