Urgent - DEVELOPER ON LINUX

When will a release of "Developer" exist for Linux ????
URGENT - URGENT - URGENT
null

You must compile a form under Linux.
To do that, you must have Developer/Server for Linux. After installing it, in $ORACLE_HOME/bin there will be a compiler - f60genm

  • Problem in launching newly installed SQL Developer in Linux

In order to install ORacle SQL Developer for linux, I tried to install JDK 5.0 according to the instruction. I downloaded the files and installed it. But when running the sqldeveloper, I got the error message:
Error: This product requires a Java(TM) Platform 5.0 runtime.
You are using 1.4.2 from /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.4.2-gcj-1.4.2.0/jre
Yes, in directory /usr/lib/jvm, there are:
    java-1.4.2-gcj-1.4.2.0, jre, jre-1.4.2, jre-1.4.2-gcj, jre-gcj
    But rpm -qa|grep jdk returned:
    jdk-1.5.0_10-fcs
How can I resolve this issue?

you are running SQL Developer using gcc's runtime environment.
just set JAVA_HOME to the dir where jdk1.5 is installed, then PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH, and it should work.

  • SQL Developer on Linux hangs when disconnecting after VPN reconnect

    Hello,
I have a problem with using connections after general link failure (Cisco VPN disconnect in my case, lost of route to Oracle DB).
When I reconnect to a VPN and I'll try to disconnect from a previously opened (before general link failure) connection, I need
to wait more than 10 minutes to complete this process. SQL Developer is completely unusable during this time.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Connect to VPN
    2. Open connection in SQL Developer to host accessible only by this VPN
    3. Restart VPN
    4. Try to do anything with this connection (disconnect, execute sql in opened SQL Worksheet, view tables, etc.)
This bug is not new in recent versions, I'm using SQL Developer from over 2 years and this bug was always with me. But if I remember correctly in earlier versions (<3.0) I couldn't reuse the connection to execute sql (hanging SQL Developer for more than 10 minutes) but disconnecting would succeed without a problem.
Maybe SQL Developer should move connection management to separate thread to resolve this issue... or is there another solution?
    I'm using SQL Developer 3.1.07.42 @ Linux 3.0.4
For VPN connectivity I use vpnc
When I restart VPN connection I'm loosing TUN interface and all routes.
I have tested this issue on a few versions of SQL Developer on Windows XP, including 3.1.07. There is no problem with disconnecting after vpn failure on Windows.
Maybe I should fill some bug report? When I can do such thing? Metalink?
    Best regards,
    Irek Slonina

    Hi Irek,
Possibly you can resolve this issue by altering the type of the connection that becomes non-responsive upon a VPN reconnect. What type are you currently using: Basic, TNS, etc?
In this forum thread (for Windows, unfortunately, not Linux), although different from your case, the solution used Thick/OCI driver, not Thin/Basic:
    Windows 7 VPN
I have no VPN client on Linux (much less vpnc), only Cisco AnyConnect on Win XP, so I cannot test your scenario.

  • Problems in starting SQL Developer in Linux

    Dear Friends,
I cannot start SQL Developer in Fedora Core 5 Linux Enviroment. I do not know what exactly is the problem. so Please see the Snap shot the Problem. It Refrains from inspite of it showing as if to Open. On windows it works fine.
    Snap Shot starts here
    [oracle@sydney sqldeveloper]$ sh sqldeveloper
    Oracle SQL Developer 1.0
Copyright (c) 2005 Oracle Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
    Working directory is /home/oracle/sqldeveloper/jdev/bin
    Ends Here
    Please give me a Solution
    Regards,
    Sydney.

I had a problem getting it to run in Ubuntu when launching from an XFCE launcher. Basically the file sqldeveloper doesn't work. What I did was to copy sqldeveloper to SQLDeveloper, change the ./ to the full path ( in my case /home/username/sqldeveloper/ ), then launch SQLDeveloper instead of sqldeveloper. Then it all worked fine.

I exported Cyrillic comment fine as UTF8 and my database is ALU32UTF8 is utf8 an option?
It is unclear where the corruption is.

Can you retrieve the package on screen with no '????'? i..e is it successfully in the database?

  • How to install Developer in Linux.

    Hi,
I am trying to install Developer on Redhat Linux 7.1. During the installation it asks for the directory where the Motif directory where the libXm.a file is present. But there is no such file in the Motif directory or anywhere else.
However there are certain files starting with libXmu.
Can someone guide me on how to go about it ?
    Regards.

    Santosh.
I have the exact same issue. Apparently Motif is not packaged with Redhat and or not installed. Search for PRashanth Machaiah and look at a query I posted about a week or so ago. Some very nice person wrote out exact instructions on how to get it going. I am going to try it today.
If you have sucess please let me know.

  • Forms Developer on Linux

    Hello,
I am working with Forms Developer 6.i.
I need to automatically create a file in the IAS and show it in the client. My application server is a linux machine and the client is Microsoft (Windows XP).
I tried to use the OLE library in Developer 6.i. I don’t get any compilation errors, but the “ole2.create_obj('Excel.Application')” function generates the following error in execution: “FRM 40735:KEY-COMMIT trigger raised unhandled exception ORA305501”. If I execute the code in in a client/sever environment, it works. I think it is obvious that this does not work for linux, but I don't know which library or function I could use.
    Thanks a lot and regards.

    Well...does not work for me. I get an ora-06502 error...just when it's doing APPID := DDE.APP_BEGIN('C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\excel.EXE',dde.app_mode_minimized);
I need to create an excel file on the client; and the application is on a linux machine. Does anybody know how I can do this if I'm using Forms Developer 6i?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Crystal Report developer edition - Linux

Do we have Crystal Report Developer edition (version XI R2 or 2008 V1) for linux?

The standard designer is Windows only.  The only thing you may be able to use on unix is Crystal Reports for Eclipse which has a built in Java designer.

  • New cirrus command-line development in linux

Hey everybody.   I've been researching and planning a development using the cirrus service for a while now and have finally gotten around to some serious development.  I decided to use the Flex SDK command line tools on a linux system for a majority of the early work.  I don't know how many members of the community are relying on the comand-line tools for their development, but I have run into a few issues.
    Here's what I'm running:
    Ubuntu 10.10
    Flex SDK 4.1.0 build 16076
    Flash Projector 10.1.102.64
..  I've been prototyping my app as a flex 4 mxml and have run into compiler issues when cirrus specific components are integrated into the code.
So I have a few basic questions that some of the cirrus veterans might be able to easily answer.
    1.  Does the current stable Flex SDK release have support for the cirrus specific classes and logic?
    2.  If no, does the Flex SDK have to be configured or referenced via the OS in order to support cirrus, or is there a development build with support?
    3.  If yes, do actionscript or mxml files need to reference specifc libraries to identify the cirrus?
    4.  Do the command-line compilers need specific config variables to enable or disable cirrus features?

  • Developer on linux

When will the Oracle "Developer" be ported on linux (Version?)
    null

I just read an article on the main Oracle web page that
mentioned that Developer 6 for Linux was now in beta. I imagine
it won't be much longer until it ships.
