URGENT: File Adapter List Files operation Issue

Hi All,
we are using List files operation in one of the SOA composite which lists all files available in the directory. what we observed files are not listing as for the timestamps.
is there any property to list all files ascending or descending based on time stamp?. we tried with ListSorter property which is suggested by Oracle, but it works for only INBOUND operations. [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/integration.1111/e10231/adptr_file.htm#BABBIJCJ]
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
You can try 2 options:
1. You would need to capture/collect all the file names, you might have to use BPM and create a separate interface.
2. You can also pick up those files from the archive directory using FTP and push them using mail adapter.

Pavan

    Hi Aparna,
I feel the problem in your content conversion parameters is with
    statement.fieldNames and ignoreRecordsetName
When you are confirguring receiver file adapter for file content conversion the above one is not required. Please refer below link for details on configuring content conversion in file adapter

  • Sender File Adapter with file conversion

    Hi guys,
I’m using a Sender File adapter with file conversion. The message to be processed has a structure with fixed lengths and in your content are some values that needs to be ignored.
    An example:
    value1  <b>value2</b>  value3…
I want to ignore <b>value 2</b> but I can’t find a parameter for that! Do I need to define dummy fields on my data type and ignore those fields during mapping? Or there is a specific parameter for that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo.

    hi,
    there always is another way:)
you can import the whole line to one field
and cut it inside the adapter module
(then you can define start and stop of the substring that you need to use)
but of course it's not standard even though it's quite easy to achieve in java

  • File Adapter vs BPEL interaction issue on high availability environment

    Hi all,
i would really appreciate your help on a matter i'm facing about a composite (SCA) deployed on a clustered environment configured for high availability. To help you better understand the issue i briefly describe what my composite does. Composite's instances are started by means of an Inbound File Adapter which periodically polls a directory in order to check if any file with a well defined naming convention is available. The adapter is not meant to read the file content but only its properties. Furthermore, the adapter automatically makes a backup copy of the file and doesn't delete the file. Properties read by the adapter are provided to a BPEL process which obtains them using the various "jca.file.xyz" properties (configurable in any BPEL receive activity) and stores them in some of its process variables. How the BPEL process uses these properties is irrilevant to the issue i'd like to pose to your attention.
The just described interaction between the File Adapter and the BPEL process has always worked in other non-HA environments. The problem i'm facing is that this interaction stops to work when i deploy the composite in a clustered environment configured for high availability: the File Adapter succeeds to read the file but no BPEL process instance gets started and the composite instance gets stuck (that is, it keeps always running until you don't manually abort it!).
Interesting to say, if I put a Mediator between the File Adapter and the BPEL, the Mediator instance gets started, that is the file's properties read by the adapter are passed to the mediator, but then the composite gets stuck again 'cos even the mediator doesn't seem to be able to initiate the BPEL process instance.
I think the problem lies in the way i configured either the SOA infrastructure for HA or the File Adapter or BPEL process in my composite. To configure the adapter, i followed the instructions given here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10231/adptr_file.htm#BABCBIAH
but maybe i missed something. Instead, i didn't find anything about BPEL configuration for HA with SOA Suite 11g (all the material i found refers to SOA Suite 10g).
I've also read in some posts that for using the db as a coordinator between the file adapters deployed on the different nodes of the cluster, the db must be a RAC! Is that true or is possible to use even another type of oracle db?
Please, let me know if someone of you has already encountered (and solved :)) a problem like this!
    Thanks in advance,
    Bye!

    Hi,
thanks for your prompt reply. Anyway, i had already read through out that documentation and tried all settings suggested in it without any luck! I'm thinking the problem could be related to the Oracle DB used in the clustered environment, which is not RAC while all documentation i read about high availability configuration always refers to a RAC db. Anyone knows if a RAC Oracle DB is strictly needed for file adapter configuration in HA cluster?
    Thanks, bye!

  • XI File Adapter Custom File Encoding for  issues between SJIS and CP932

    Dear SAP Forum,
Has anybody found a solution for the difference between the JVM (IANA) SJIS and MS SJIS implementation ?
When users enter characters in SAPGUI, the MS SJIS implementation is used, but when the XI file adapter writes SJIS, the JVM SJIS implementation is used, which causes issues for 7 characters:

  • File adapter: End of line issue in unix receiver

    Hi all,
We are sending flat files using File Adapter (FTP) with the File content conversion functionality and we can see the file right in our windows system, but when it arrives to the Unix receiver, they give us an error regarding the End of line.
It has a ^M character in every line so it cannot be processed.
Does anyone know how to skip this end of line character in our file keeping the same format?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Daniel,
you can try to use this adapter module:

  • XI Receiver file adapter : Dyanmic File PATH

    Hi,
Appreciate if someone could help me on the issue below:
I have a receiver File adapter with a dynamic target directory as per below:
    Target directory: /test/YYYY/MM/DD
the value for YYYY (Year) , MM (Month) and DD (Date) will be the date when the file being transfered from the sender.
Appreciate if someone could help me to achieve this. I know we can use the variable substitution however it doesn't allow us to set a systems field such as sy-datum.
    Cheers,
    ZAB

    Hi,
Populate this value in your payload , and then use Dynamic File Name concept of File Adapter.
The dynamic filename generation concept is as follows.
In your filename field. just give a variable with % symbols. (eg: %file% ).
Now, under the option Variable Name Substitution, you can give how the value has to be created.
It can be your interface name, sender service name, etc or it can be some value dynamically from your payload.
    For the former, your give
    message:interface_name ,etc
and for the payload part you give,
Payload: "your element root which u wanna acecss"
    Just check this link out,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm
And read the contents under variable substitution and it will help you understand the concepts better.
If you have any clarifications, do get back,

  • File Adapter - Check file exist before performing read

Is there a feature in the file adapter or invoke activity for SOA 11.1.1.5 that performs a check to see if a specific file exists before it performs a read function? If file does not exist then move onto to next step, if it does then read it.
I am trying to do this in 1 step instead of performing a listing of the directory first before perfomring the read.

    Hi,
When you read a file, using the synchronous read file, you have to point to a file (file name, directory...). That way, when you are executing the invoke activity, followed by a FileAdapter, it's either the file exists, and you read it, or it's not exist and you don't read it.

  • File adapter(write files with same extension as we read them)

    Hello
I am trying to read file as an attachment using file adapter (it can be of any extension .pdf,.txt,.xml)
I want to write this file using file adapter with the same extension i.e. whatever is read as it is....I am least bothered for reading the content inside the file so am reading it as an attachment..
Please if anyone knows the answer..reply....

I ran into a similar issue. As a workaround we ended up just using java to write the files out. When the File Adapter attempts to write out a file it first writes that file to a temp file and then copies that to the appropriate directory.
I believe that when two or more threads were attempting to write at the same time the write was failing for one (but appearing to work in the console logs). I think a race condition may be created when two threads attempt to write using the File Adapter for access to the temp file. I contacted my oracle rep about it but they are always pretty worthless so I havent ever heard anything back concerning the issue.

  • File adapter input file format

Here the communication scenario is as follows: read a file and send a message via XI to an inbound interface.
A file adapter service has been defined. Message protocol 'file content conversion' has been chosen for the file adapter service. Next the file format has to be defined in communiction channel settings.
Is it possible to define the input record structure in the file to be red itself?
The first line will list all column names. The data records will follow in line two up till end of file.
    Regards
    Klaus

Now I can add some more information to the facts.
In XI 2.0 the adapter engine was used to connect the integration engine to external systems. The adapter engine converted input file contents to a XML message. The structure of the records in the input file has to be defined. There was one option to read this structure from the first line of the file itself. This option was called 'fromFile'.
Now the current situation in XI 3.0 is that the integration engine reads the input file. Conversion of file contents is still available but the option to read the record structure from the input file doesn't exist anymore.
Does anybody know whether I am right and this functionality isn't available anymore or how to achieve the desired system function in XI 3.0.
    Regards
    Klaus

  • Difference in File Adapter Read File as attachment and Use File streaming

    Hi all,
As part of our POC we created a File adapter using the option Read file as attachment and File streaming we observed below things
1.When we are taking “Attachment” option in file adapter, Its able to archive, but not supporting to write data to different location(using fileadapter’s write operation.)

  • File Adapter Linux File Permissions

    Hi,
When we use the File Adapter from BPEL process to write a create a file, it creates with permission 403.
We need to create the file with permission 775.
Which is the best way to do that?
    Thank You.
    JP

Hi. I don't think you can do this on an adapter-base. As far as I know there are no properties you can set in file adapter wsdl. I see three possibilities (but I've never used them myself).
First possibility is to set default permission for user who runs adapter (usually this is oracle under which Oracle Software is installed). This can be done by using command umask. Below is some more information on this topic.
The most common umask setting is 022. The /etc/profile script is where the umask command is usually set for all users.
Second possibility is to create file with 0 byte by writing custom java and then invoke adapter with append option. For a complete list op properties on file adapter see Chapter Oracle JCA Adapter Properties in Oracle Fusion Middleware User Guide for Technology Adapters.
Third possibility is by writing your own file adapter. By that you have full cntrol on behavior but it will be time-consuming.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards, Jos.

  • File adapter created file permissions at OS

    Hi,
We have a file adapter scenario and once we run the scenario at OS level the file is being created with following permissions.
    <b>-rw-r----- </b>  1 xisadm   sapsys    19789000 Oct 10 17:01 File10024322.txt
So it is not being processed further till we change the permisions to<b> -rw-rr</b> .
Is there any place in XI where we can change to write the file at OS with <b>-rw-rr</b> permisions.
    Thanks
    Sunil

    Moorthy,
This is XI writing the file at OS and not XI not reading the file.
But in one of our DEV env the file is being created with <b>-rw-rr </b> permissions after changed some thing , which we are not sure now. Now we have the same issue in production. Bye the way OS is AIX.
We would like is there any place in XI we can change so that XI can write the file to have "others" to <u>read</u> the file.
    thanks
