Urgent !Formula Collision

Hi guys,
This is critical i gotta deliver this issue fast
the thing is i have two structures one KF the other chars, formulas
having to do with YTD (year-to-date) calculations,
and i'm having some formula collisions
that is some formulas are incorrect
eg (Gross margin %A Net Invoicing) for
a characteristic (a current year) is wrongly calculated
similar is the scenario for other formula in the char structures
is there a formula collision do i need to use cell editor
the two structures are in colums
Thanks

I checked the KF and it has "result from this formula "
so the error could be something else i believe
no cell editor was used in this case
i think probably we need to use cell editor to
calculate the complex formula, could that be the error
help me out guys

  • Issue with formula collision

    Hello Experts,
I am facing an issue with Formula collision, below is an expample
My requirement is to use Column formula for the value (????) in the below table.
                                  Restriction (C1)     Restriction (C2)     Formula(C1-C2)
    Restriction (R1)     4              2                                 2
    Restriction (R2)     8              3                                 5
    Formula(R1+R2)     12              5                              ????
I have tried using the below settings
    1) Formula(R1+R2)  "Standard"
    2) Formula(C1-C2)  " Use result of this formula"
But still getting row formula being used, please advice.
    Thanks,

Select the Formula which you created Formula(C1-C2)
In the properties tab Go to Calculations--> Select the Check Box Cumulated
In the Drop Down for Calculation Direction Select --> Calculate Along Columns
If you require you can also select the Check Box Also Apply to Results
    Hope it Helps.

  • Formula Collision in the result rows

    Hi Guys,
    I have 2 KFs A & B and KF C = A/B.
In Results rown instead of calculating it as ( A1 + A2 +... +An)/ (B1 + B2 .... Bn) , I want to calculate it as (C1 + C2 + ....+Cn). I tried all options in formula variables, it simple doesnt work. Not sure if we can use it with Result Rows.
Does anyone have any answer ?
I would return point for all the helpful answers which I always does.
    Cheers
    Kirk

    Hi Kirk,
There are 2 ways of doing this
    1) If you're defining the Caluclate KF then you have to right click on the calculated key figure and then click on Enhance button. In the Aggregation block you have to choose "After Aggregation" from the drop down.
    2) If you are using New formula which is local to the query only, in that you have to define a new formula as per your requirement and then go to the property of the new formula by right clicking on it. In the Formula collision block you ned to choose "Result from competing formula".
    Hope this will help.
Please note that for the calculated field C which is A/B the Calculate Result as should be Nothing defined. But for Field A and B it should be SUMMATION.
    Give reward point if satisfied.

  • Formula Collision on properties of char in query designer

    Hi BW Gurus,
Can someone explain this topic with some good example(s)?
    Anil

Formula collision is a topic particulary significant when using two strucutes (one in the rows and one in the columns).
Let's consider you have the following Rows R1, R2 anc R3 = R1+R2. In the columns C1, C2 and C3 = C1*C2. The calculation in the ninth cell (R3-C3) can be done using the first (Rows) Formula or the second (Columns) formula, it depends on the result you want
       C1  C2  C3
    R1 10  30  300
    R2 20  40  800
    R3 30  70  ???
Should the result be 1100 (summation) or 2100 (product)?
    Hope it's clear

  • Passing Overall Result to a formula

    Dear All,
Iam having two characteristics and one keyfigure in rows and four characteristics in columns. i want overall result  of that keyfigure which is displaying in a column .For that i have a created formula and assigned SUMGT(keyfigure) to that.
In my formula it is showing overall result value which is displaying in row wise. But I want overall result column wise..
    This is very urgent..
    Thanks and Regards
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
You can obtain this behavior setting the 'Formula Collision' under 'Formula Properties' tab in bex query designer.
See library, on 'Selection/Formula Properties'  paragraph 'Formula Collision'

  • How to use a cumulative value in a formula

    hi, experts
I have a question about how to use a cumulative value in a formula. Below is the example:
                            wk1   wk2   wk3   wk4   wk5....wk n
    sales order        5       10    15      10      5
    build plan          8       8     10      15     10
    result                3       1      -4       1       6
result row is what I want to get, the formula is:
    wk1 result = wk1 build plan - wk1 sales order
    wk2 result = wk1 build plan + wk2 build plan - (wk1 sales order  + wk2 sales order)
    wk3 result = wk1 build plan + wk2 build plan + wk3 build plan - (wk1 sales order  + wk2 sales order + wk3 sales order)
I've already ticked the cumulative in properity of the key figures. It seems like that the cumulative results only can display, but can't be used in formula. Could you please help me? Many many thanks !!

    Hi
In properties of that formula, there is option called 'formula collision' there you select 'formula from compiting result'. I think this will solve the problem.

  • Formulas results outside of row and column axis

The report has an area of row axis and column axis. This area is where the results from BW are displayed.
We have a requirement where we would have to create formulas using the BW Analyzer results of the row axis and column axis and display the results after the last row of this area.
For example, after the BW Analyzer displays the result area to the Excel, we are required to take Excel Cell D10 * C7 and put the results to B33.
    <b>B33 = D10*C11</b>
Excel row 30 is the last row from the row axis result area.
I have searched through the forum for Cell Editor, but it seems that the requirement is to use 2 structures and use Cell Editor only when there is a formula collision. Our requirement has 1 structure, but I guess we can create the other structure for the column axis results. But still I think Cell Editor is a computation of formula collision within the row and column axis result area.
My question is will Cell Editor meet our requirement if we want to get formula results from the row and column axis and then display the results outside of the row and column axis result area?
Our approach was to use the Excel cell formulas in the workbook or possibly macros, but it seems that the Excel formulas will do.
Would someone clarify about the Cell editor for this requirement and how would you approach this?
Would this be effective to do the formulas from the query level? We are working on 3.5 SP11.

Can Cell editor do the following:
    1. Create structures
    2. Run the query
    3. The results of the structures are displayed in the row and column axis of the BEx Analyzer
    4. Save as a workbook
    5. Use the Cell Editor to pick and choose the cells (Not the Excel cells) to create formulas
    6. The formula results are then displayed outside of the row and column axis.
    Would this be another approach?
What scenario can Cell editor be used? What scenario can Cell editor not be used?
    Thanks

  • Formulas and Structure

    Hi,
I am having some problems using formulas. My report uses a structure (A = BCD+E).
For example, the result of the report is:
    Var % = ((Value 2 / Value 1) - 1) * 100
    Struct    Value 1           Value 2         Var %
    A         155.377,32        18.386,92       42,38
    -- B      0,00              0,00            0,00
    -- C      4.847,45          13.295,59       174,28
    -- D      146.029,87        2.091,33        -98,57
    -- E      4.500,00          3.000,00        -33,33
    The problem is that the Var % of row A is calculated by adding the others Var % (row B, C, D and E). "42,38 = 0,00 + 174,28 + (-98,57) + (-33,33)"
I need to have the calculation of Var % (A) being made by the formula ((Value 2 / Value 1) - 1) * 100 and not adding this sub-Values.
    Could anyone please help me?
    Thanks.

  • Formula in Query row suppress the formula in Query column

    Hi all,
I have a problem that I hope you can help me with.
I have created a query to report the following in the row:
    - Units    (reading the data from a cube)
    - Gross Sales (reading the data from a cube)
    - Discounts   (reading the data from a cube)
    - Net sales    (a formula = Gross Sales - Discounts)
    - Net sales/units  (a formula = Net sales/Units)
In the column, I want to compare 2 version: Plan and Actual. Thus in the column, I have the following:
    - Actual (restricted with 0VERSION=001, 0FISCPER=001.2007-012.2007)
    - Plan (restricted with 0VERSION=999, 0FISCPER=001.2007-012.2007)
    - Actual - Plan (a formula = Actual - Plan)
I do not get the correct result for Net Sales/Units. The reason, for as far I can analyze is because the formula in Row suppress the formula in Column.
    Thus what happened:
'Description';   'Actual';           'Plan';         'A-P(should be)';      'A-P(current result)'
    'Units';               200;                150;                50;                          50
    'Gross Sales';    100000;            75000;             25000;                    25000
    'Discount';           20000;            10000;             10000;                    10000
    'Net Sales';          80000;            65000;             15000;                    15000
    'Net Sales/Unit';     400;             433,33;             -33,33;                     300
As you can see from the example above, I cannot get the correct result in the Actual - Plan column.
Do you know which formula/setting that I can use to get the correct result?
Any help/advice will be highly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

  • Formula Based on Overall Result

I have the need to create a formula that uses the 'overall' result totals.  The formula for example:  Field D = A - B - C.  The values of field A, B and C must be the overall result totals.  I have tried using the Data function SUMGT in the formula for A, B and C, however, the results for Field D is 0.   Not sure if this makes a difference or not, but field A, B and C are also created from formulas.  I tried using formula collision but that did not make a difference.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
You should use SUMRT not SUMGT
and all your formula should be like this
    SUMRT ( A -B-C)

  • Formula Builder

    hai
what is formula builder and formula collusion wt is the difference between them
    plz give me the answer......
    with regards...
    Raghavendra

    Hi,
    Use
You can use the Formula Builder to implement methods for Business Add-Ins without writing a single line of ABAP code. The methods are implemented by means of socalled formulas.
This type of implementation does not require you to have programming knowledge. However, the functions it offers are more restricted than if you implement a method by writing ABAP code. If the range of functions provided by the Formula Builder is not sufficient, you can change the implementation type of the method at any time.
    Features
A formula can consist of the following steps:
    Condition
You define a Boolean formula expression whose result can be true or false. This formula expression is a logical condition based on the importing and changing parameters of the method. Depending on whether the condition is true or false, the system triggers different steps. If you do not specify a dependent step for one of these two possibilities, the system continues with the next superior step.
    Substitution
The system replaces the value of a specific parameter with another value which you define as a constant value or by means of a mathematic formula. Substitution is only possible if the method contains changing, exporting or returning parameters.
    Message
The system issues a message. All messages issued are collected in a log table. You define the message variables as constant values or by means of mathematic formulas. The system can only issue a message if you created a log table during method definition.
    Exception
The system exits the method. No further steps are executed, and the application program continues in accordance with the exception defined. You can additionally display a message whose variables you define as constant values or by means of mathematic formulas. An exception can only be triggered if the method contains exceptions.
A formula editor is available which you can use to enter formula expressions. After starting the formula editor, you can display information on how to use it by choosing the pushbutton next to the status display (traffic light).
    Activities
You implement the method using the BAdI Builder. For information on this topic, see Implementing Business Add-Ins. To implement a method as a formula, choose the Formula implementation type on the Interface tab. Double-clicking the method name takes to to the Formula Builder: BadI Implementation screen.
You can change the implementation type of the method on the Interface tab. You can implement a method both using a formula and using ABAP code. At the runtime of the application program, the system executes the implementation type currently chosen.
You create the necessary steps in the left section of the screen. To do this, choose and then select the appropriate step type from the dropdown list. Using the other icons available or the context menu (which you can call by clicking the right mouse button), you then determine the arrangement and the descriptions of the steps. You can also copy steps to use them as templates for other steps, or you can delete individual steps.
To specify the parameters for the individual steps, double-click the corresponding entry in the left section of the screen. You then enter the data required in the right section of the screen.
The formula builder has two modes: Standard and expert mode. In the standard mode, you can only enter the formulas using the pushbuttons and by double clicking on functions and fields. In the expert mode, however, you can enter formulas directly. You can also toggle between the tow modes when entering a formula.
The company code field (0COMP_CODE) is not included in your data target or InfoSource. However you can determine the company code from the first four character spaces of the cost center (0COSTCENTER).
You create the following formula for this purpose:
    SUBSTRING( cost center, '0' , '4')
    Syntax:
SUBSTRING( String, Offset , Länge )
    Step-by-Step Procedure in Standard mode:
In the transformation library, on the right hand side under Show Me, choose the category Strings. From the list, select the Substring function by double-clicking on it. The syntax of the formula is displayed in the formula window: SUBSTRING( , , )
The cursor automatically appears over the first parameter that needs to be specified.
From the list on the left-hand side of the screen, choose the Cost Center field by double-clicking on it.
Place the cursor where you want to enter the next parameter.
Enter the number 0 using the Constant button (for the Offset parameter). The commas are added automatically.
Place the cursor where you want to enter the next parameter.
Enter the number 4 using the Constant button (for the Length parameter).
Choose Back. The formula is now checked and saved if it is correct. You receive a message if errors occurred during the check, and the system highlights the erroneous element in color.

  • Calculation in Multiprovider

Hi, The problem is in the Query, I need to calculate a key figure based on the other 2 key figures.
    KF3 = KF1 * KF2
the only issue here is i need to find the KF1 for each material/country/fiscal period from cube 1 and KF2 for each material/country/fiscal period from ODS.
and multiply and then aggregate according to the filter & selection conditions.
can anyone let me know how to do it..
<b>its very urgent.. and any helpful answer appreciated</b>
    thank you
    Emil

Hi Bjorn, there is no formula collision. its a calculated key figure (KF3). the requirement is even though the reporting is done at a higher level than material & country and results should be sum of products of individual values per material & country & fiscal period.
    Rows: KF1 & KF 2
    Column: Fiscal Period
<b>New row to be added: KF3 (Sum of mathematical Products of KF1 & KF2 at the material/country level) even though we run the report at high level of hierarchy.</b>
Usually we get the mathematical product of Sums in the query..
am i able to put my point through ?
Suppose there are 3 levels of material (producy hierarchy) and 5 levels of country (geographical hierarchy)
suppose when you run the report at the level 1 for both hierarchies and want the results as sum of products at the material & country level. as that is combination that gives unique values (KF1 & KF2)
Someone please let me know if you have already faced this situation..
    Thanks in advance
