URGENT project settings to use when creating broadcast quality television

Hi,
What project settings do I use to create broadcast quality television in a widescreen format. Note I use a mac book and also I'm in NZ so we use PAL. I'm only using animation and still pictures so haven't got any video to import.
I work for a charity museum and my boss has asked me (last minute) to make the ad as we have no money for a professional studio. I'm used to making videos for exhibits only.
Many thanks
Amy

Use the PAL DV Widescreen preset.

  • What PDF settings are used when creating DPS articles?

When you create a PDF file using Acrobat Distiller or InDesign you can modify settings such as font subsets, image down-sampling and compression which will have an impact on the final file size. Does anyone know what settings are used when articles are rendered in PDF format in DPS and can the settings be modified? Specifically, what type of compression is applied to images? If I were to place two images on a page, a png and a jpg with medium quality, would they be embedded in the PDF as is or re-compressed in another format and/or level of quality?

    Thanks for your help.
So images placed in an InDesign retain their original file format and are unzipped when the article is loaded in the app.
I'm assuming that if compression is applied to the original image files it can have an impact on performance. If you were to use jpeg files in a document they would need to be unzipped and decompressed. I've read other forum posts that suggest the iOS jpeg decompression engine is too slow to present a fluid user experience in a DPS app. The combined processing time of unzipping and decompressing jpegs files may steer me towards the png format.

  • What scan settings to use when creating multipage pdf for best opening speed.

Example: A four page text pdf created directly from my Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner is 193 kb.  It opens quickly and perfectly on my iMac.  Opening it on my iPad in iBooks, it takes awhile, and when I turn pages, there's a blank page at first, and then it slowly fills in.
Now,  much larger pdf's that I create in Photoshop and InDesign open quickly and perfectly in iBook on my iPad.  What gives?  Any suggestions?  Thanks, Tom

Hi!  The previous answer is right on, just wanted to add that the reason that larger PDFs from Photoshop or InDesign might open faster is that they are likely text-based.  If your particular project allows for it, you could use the OCR features of Acrobat to extract the text from a scanned page, which would ultimately result in a smaller PDF, which would open faster on your device.  See this page for some more information on this process: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/convert-jpeg-scan-ocr-to-pdf.html  Hope this helps!

  • What port numbers are used when creating temporary queues

Using the following code as an example, what port(s) are used when creating temporary queues? Is it a range of ports? Is it random? And is it configurable? If you have any insight on this, please let me know. Thanks.
    QueueConnection con = connectionFactory.createQueueConnection();
    QueueSession session = con.createQueueSession(true, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
    TemporaryQueue replyQueue = session.createTemporaryQueue();

The only ports I know about are the defaults ports:
    JMS 7676
    IIOP 3700
Are these the only ports that are used, even for temporary queues?

  • What Project Settings to Use?

    Hi,
I am very new to this program and would like to put together a movie using video clips taken from my iPhone. When complete, it will need to be saved as an FLV for web viewing. What settings should I use when I create a new project in PrE12? Also, I want to insert slides in between clips. If I create them in PhotoShop or Illustrator, what dimensions should they be if I want them to be the same dimensions as the video clips? Thanks for any help!

    HapJax
Premiere Elements 12, like version 11, takes over setting the project preset (project settings) based on the properties of first drag to the Expert workspace Timeline. If that project preset set by the program matches the properties of your source file, then you should have no colored line over the the Timeline content (as the first drag to that Timeline).
Sometimes the program does that OK, sometimes not. If not, then you set the project preset manually yourself based on the file properties that you know before importing media into the project. When the program does not do it right, it does not give you the closest to what it should be but rather its default NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 or its PAL counterpart.
Now here is the bottom line here...if you let the program set the project preset for you and you get an orange line over its content, you do not render the Timeline to get the best possible preview. You set the project preset manually according to the properties of the source media and then move on as indicated above.
Once you start editing your video (working in a project set with the correct project setting), you will get an orange line over the edited content - program telling you that you need to render the content to get the best possible preview. The time for "rendering" for preview purposes according to the color indicator system is after edits, not after the first drag to the timeline.
That is my take on the situation.
If clarification on anything that I have written, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thanks.

  • Load balancing when creating Broadcast setting

    Hi guys,
how can i use the load balancing possibility when creating a broadcast setting of a workbook?
i have 2 precalculation server determined in RSprecadmin. When the first precalculation server has status maximum capacity reached the next free available precalculation server is used. But in my case the first 10 workbooks are precalculated with one server then the other free and available server is not used anymore.
How can i have  more than 10 workbooks in the queue?
    Thanks,

  • Where is the setting for indicating which calendar i want to use when creating an event?

When I use iCal on my iPhone, I use the + sign and then get a screen that gives me Title, Location, Starts, Ends, Time Zone, Repeat, Alert, URL and Notes. I used to get the option to choose which calendar (personal, work family, etc) that I want to use. That Calendar bar is no longer there. Why not?

When I use the iPhone's Calendar app, I have the following avaialble when creating a new Event.
    Title

  • De-normalized tables easier to use when creating forms in APEX?

I have about 6 normalized database tables and I want to create some forms that have 15-30 input fields per page (2 pages). I havn't been using APEX long but it seems that when creating forms based on tables you can only base the form on one table at a time. Is there a way to create a form based on several tables and still have APEX do the automatic row processing? Is this difficult?
Is it a better idea to insert this data directly into 1 de-normalized table and then run a pl/sql procedure to load them into other tables?
I should add that I would only want to insert the data into the normalized tables once the user has submitted the final page (ie. paid for their transaction).
    Sam

Assuming your developing some sort of shopping cart type application, you could use Apex collections to store data collected in your forms. Then once your user has "paid for their transaction", process the contents of the collection and update your normalised tables accordingly.
See the help for info on using collections. Hope this helps.

  • Why doesnt HP state USB 3.0 should not be used when creating "Restore" software on a flash drive?

about 2 weeks ago I received my HP DV7TQE with Windows 7 64 Bit. First thing I did was create a "restore" backup media just in case for future use. I used a ScanDisk Cruzer 32GB Flash Drive (memory stick). The stick was in one of the USB 3.0 ports while I was creating my "restore" software. On Friday night I performed a test just to make sure my "restore" would work. Unfortunately it did not. I got "the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessable" message. After some surfing on the Internet I found out that USB 3.0 should not be used to create a "restore" software. My question is why would HP leave this little detail out from the intructions provided on the laptop at the time I was creating this?

From what I have found out it is ok to make the media on a usb 3.0 port, you just cannot restore using a 3.0 port, it should work from a 2.0 port.

  • Which bom explosion/dependent req. used when creating order

a material's production version ( MRP4 in material master) has 2 or more versions and all versions are valid. when creating a production order, which version will the system take?

    Dear,
If you are creating the production order manually through CO01,if your order type dependent parameter for the order type in OPL8
is having manual selection of prod version means the system will give the pop up to select the production version.
If it's an automatic selection means the system by default will pick the first production version,if you are having more than 1
production version for same lot size and validity.
    Check and revert.

  • Using Compressor for broadcast quality?

I apologize for posting this question here, but I did a search and found in one thread that nobody goes to the Compressor forum and they all post here.
Are there any online tutorials on what the best steps are to preparing a broadcast safe MPEG2 file? There are so many options , and I honestly have not used this part of FCP much. We've got a computer playback system now and it's something I am going to utilize more often now.
Or if anybody reading this has a suggestion to steps I could take I'd appreciate it greatly.
    Thanks for any help

From what I can gather, it won't be as easy as creating a file with Compressor. For starters, you will probably need to "mux" (that is, mix the video and audio together) so this automatic system will play the program when you provide it to the server. This will need to be done in a program like DVD Studio Pro. Below are some VERY BASIC step-by-step instructions. If they don't make sense, pull out your manuals and start reading. I've left out explanations and alternatives as time and space doesn't allow for everything. That's why they have manuals. But here goes otherwise:
Export the final FCP timeline out as a Quicktime file. You can do this as a self contained movie but it's faster if you don't. Place the resulting file where you can readily find it. (Note: you can also export directly from FCP to Compressor. This is a long way to do it, as FCP has to first encode it out to Compressor.)
Open Compressor and drag your new QT file into the Batch window. Look over to your right in the same Batch window under Settings and using the pull-down menus, choose something like "MPEG-2 60 min High Quality Encode". Choose "All" in this situation because you'll want to go ahead and encode your audio too. You should see two entries: one for audio and one for video. Note the Destination tab (where the file will end up). In this regard, I suggest you use the pulldown menu and choose Source. This will place the resulting file(s) in the same location as the QT file. Click Submit to begin encoding and sit back, have some iced tea and wait a while.
When it's done, open up DVD Studio Pro. (If you don't have Studio Pro, then you're really stuck because -- again-- you have to provide it as a format that the player, be it server-based system or disc based, can read). But let's assume you have DVD Studio Pro and when it opens, import up the two files into your Assets (bottom left corner). When they import, drag the video (the one with the .m2v suffix) over into the Tracks timeline. Since they both have the same name, but different suffix, the audio file should follow over and sync up with the video. You can test it by playing the Timeline. Now go to the top left hand corner of DVD SP and click on the disc icon within the By Type window. Over on the right of the interface, in the Disc window, you'll see the name of your disc (probably Untitled) and under it, a pulldown menu again. Holding it down, choose Track 1. Save your project under a name, like the name of your video. Click on the little hammer, or Build, icon near the top middle of the DVD SP interface. You'll be asked where to place the results. Create a new folder and name it-- and decide where it will be placed. Click Build and sit back. This too takes a while. When done, you can upload the resulting folder (with the two folders that will be inside labled VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS) to your server. How your "juke box" player system will locate your file is beyond me but I'm sure there is a way to make it locate the folder. When it does, there are instructions written in the DVD standard so the player can play the program.
Once again: this a very basic explanation!! But you didn't really ask for details. If you get stuck, try some of the tutorials in FCP/Compressor and DVD Studio Pro. Good luck!
Oh yeah, as the others have written, "broadcast quality" is a very loosely based term these days. When providing programs to media outlets as "DVD quality", it usually means as good as a quality you can get with the amount of space on a DVD. This all depend on your bit rate and the length of your video. There are bitrate calculators out there that can certainly help!

  • 4 Questions on New Project Settings with Pemiere Elements 9 - & Fix Quality Problems.

    When I started my new project I selected PAL, DSLR - 1920 x 1080p  - 24 fps.
Once in New Project, I dragged the movie onto the Timeline, then up poped a box saying something like "Fix Quality Problems", whch I accepted.
Q1 Which is the best frame rate to record in, to subsequently bring media into Premiere Elements 9?
I am in The UK so we have PAL and therefore, I could use 24p or 25p   - 25 p is 25 fps, and 24p is 23.976 fps. per the Canon manual.   [NB the Canon will not record at 50 or 60p in PAL]
Q2, I read somewhere that some Video Editors can not accept a movie file in its native format , and thus change it to a different format and then edit it, and then export and convert it back - often with a serious loss of quality. I would like to maximise the quality.
Q2i] Does Premiere Elements 9 do this converstion? If so does it harm the quality significantly - are there ways to avoid this?
Q2ii] and if so, is there a recording format best suited for me to record in,  and subsequently import my videos into Premiere Elements 9?  eg would it be better to record in 25 fps?
Q2iii]  There was also a screen somewhere about this section like 2,2,3,2,2  I think its something to do with pulldown?  What is the best setting for the highest quality?
    Background info:-
I shot my videos with my new Canon DSLR 5D MkIII;  I set the movie quality to:-
PAL, 1920 x 1080p  ALL-I (this was the highest quality the 5DIII can record at, there was an "IPB" option for lower quality).  And I selected 24 fps  - which the manual says is actually 23.976 fps
The manual also says it is a MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 [movie recording compression] Recording Format = MOV
But  strangely it loads onto my laptop as a "Quick Time Movie". I was expecting to see a .MOV file. [whether this is because this Sony Laptop comes with 'PMB Organiser' and view software. Or the hated iTunes changed how things are imported, I just don't understand any of this stuff .  All I do know is iTunes repeatedly tried to change my default viewer. So did it change the format, which files are imported in?? [re loading the files from my cameras CF card into my laptop]
    Any advice much appreciated
    Peter

    Peter,
The way out of the project is encoding. And recoding tends to degradation of the export in varying degrees for different formats. Typically DV AVI undergoes less change with reencoding than the rest. But, we are not dealing with DV AVI here. Your source appears to be
    AVCHD (MPEG4 AVC/H.264) video compression
    1920 x 1080 16:9 @ 24 progressive frames per second
Rather than export the Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 Timeline to a .mov file or something else and then importing that into Premiere Elements 11 for is AVCHD export, please consider trying to open the Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project in Premiere Elements 11 and then proceed there to export Publish+Share/Compute/AVCHD with Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080 p24.
Keep in mind that if you take a project created in Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 and edit it in Premiere Elements 11 and then decide to further edit it in Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1, cannot do. And, if some unexpected perk allows the opening of the Premiere Elements 11 edited version, there will be problems. Unless there is a special reason, best complete a project in the version that created and create anew in the newer version.
A just in case note, the original on the hard drive is not altered. Premiere Elements traces back to the original from the Project Assets thumbnail (copy of original).
But, you should make the comparsion between your H.264.mov opportunity in version 9.0/9.0.1 and your AVCHD.mp4 opportunity in Premiere Elements 11. I believe that you said that is your intention.
For your Premiere Elements 11 tryout download, check out another browser. I always had to go to Internet Explorer for that download. Firefox never was good for that. But with this version 11, Firefox did the job. I had better results saving the downloaded folder to Documents than I did to Desktop.
Please review and let us know if I have targeted your questions. If not, please detail what I overlooked.
    Thanks.
