URLConnection problem further investigated

Hi!
I have a problem (of course). I can create an URL connection, write data to it and receive the result (see "Check result" comment) using JRE 1.4.1 without any problems. But with JRE 1.3.1 I get a FileNotFound Exception when I do "InputStream is = urlConn.getInputStream();".
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance for any hints.

In 1.3.1 and previous releases the HTTP protocol handler through a FNF exception for HTTP errors that it didn't handle. 1.4 has lots of fixes and improvements and also handles more HTTP errors automatically. If you really need to find out what 1.3.1 is doing then get a network trace and post the HTTP response from the server here.

  • Further investigations

    Further investigations lead me to another bad conclusion: a bad memory management for ms-8606 drivers (tv@nywhere master).
    After installing ctfmon (multilanguage in winxp, in fact just a second language after english), I wasn't able to scan tvstations anymore in media center (system freezes).
    So, I've made extensive memory tests,and installed a lot of memory hungry applications. Everything was ok, except tvtuner and related applications. Only with almost everything disabled in startup, scanning tvstations works  X(

  • URLConnection problems(Sending parameters with URL)

    Guys i have some problems with sending parameters through URL using URLConnection class.
    That's my code:
    URL url = new URL("http://kiosk.homebank.kz:9090/default.asp?action=SaveContact&src=C_HOMEBANK&ClientId="+request.getParameter("ClientId")+
                        "&IdService="+request.getParameter("IdService")+
                        "&Contact="+URLEncoder.encode(request.getParameter("Contact"),"utf-8")+
                        "&Number="+URLEncoder.encode(request.getParameter("Number"),"utf-8")+
                        "&Work="+URLEncoder.encode(request.getParameter("Work"),"utf-8")+
                        "&Mobile="+URLEncoder.encode(request.getParameter("Mobile"),"utf-8"));
            URLConnection connection = url.openConnection();
            connection.setDoInput(true);
            connection.setDoOutput(true);I want just send these parameters without going to this link. How can i do it using URLConnection class? Help please!

    Try using this set method in the URL class (query is the parameters):
    protected void set(String protocol,
    String host,
    int port,
    String authority,
    String userInfo,
    String path,
    String query,
    String ref)

  • URLConnection Problems

    I've read many postings trying to solve the problem of unblocking a URLConnection that is blocked.
    I tried getting the socket and port from the connection and reading the socket directly,
    that's fine when there is a problem, the inputStream is read but the socket gets blocked
    on the read.
    However, when the connection is successful and data should be streaming back, the
    read again times out.
    When I switch back to a URLConnection the opposite happens, it reads data fine when all
    is well, but when it gets stalled, I see no way to interrupt it. Any ideas?
    public String SendData() throws Exception
    if (debug)
    System.out.println("\n\n************ Sending Data ************\n");
    try
    timedout = false;
    URL url = new URL(thePath);
    //these 2 socket statements replace the 4 url ones below it
    Socket sock = new Socket(InetAddress.getByName(url.getHost()), url.getPort()==-1?80:url.getPort());
    sock.setSoTimeout(timeout);
    //this is the url way
    /* ucon = (HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();
    ucon.setDoInput(true);
    ucon.setUseCaches(false);
    ucon.setAllowUserInteraction(false);
    //url getstream
    in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(ucon.getInputStream()));
    //socket getstream
    in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(sock.getInputStream()));
    while((s=in.readLine()) !=null)
    // This will be replace with loading into a buffer
    // inside the token class and returning.
    System.out.println(s);
    in.close();
    catch(Exception e)
    if (debug)
    System.out.println("URL timed out");
    timedout = true;

    Tried it, doesn't seem to work for 1.3.1. No my post is stupid, I forgot that I need to
    connect with the initial http protocol headers and the get commands when using
    sockets, doh! It works now.
    However, can someone please explain to me why anyone would ever use the URLConnection
    instead of sockets since there is no way I can find to force a timeout. If there were a way
    to overwrite the http timeout from Java, or a way to interrupt the blocked stream then it would
    be useful. But I've read countless solutions and none works except for manually using a
    socket and setting the socket timeout.

  • URLConnection problem

    Hi all,
    I make a mini web browser jar. When i use it in standalone, it is no problem( I can go to acces http://java.sun.com), However, I place jar into web server (JNLP), i cannot access http://java.sun.com(No exception error)

    My program is only access internet (e.g. http://java.sun.com). it has not a open file function. Moreover, my JNLP have already set a 'all permission'

  • URL, URLConnection problem!

    just dont understand how can i work with with URL if i cannot set anything!!
    All methods are getters, but what if i want to keep using the same StreamHandler, the same ProtocolHandler and i just want to change the path of an already created URL object?? do i have to create an URL object each time i want to acces another resource?
    for example i make an URL that connects to "www.java.sun.com" and i download the root html page from that url, then i want to connect to http://java.sun.com/forums , and i cant just say setPath().
    Its to expensive to be creating URL objects which creates like 10 more objects internaly to just change the path!! i cannot even inerith from it cause it is final, how can i interactivly use URL as a non untouchable class?

    >
    well that was helpfull, even if it is not that
    expensive is retarded! just to change a path or
    something else does not justify creating a completly
    new web of object since the modifications of
    urls(keeping the host,protocol untouched) can happens
    a lot.It may not be as retarded as it seems. There may be some reasonable design decsions behind making a URL immutable. I haven't looked at it or thought about it, but I think it's a fairly common pattern. You have an object that depends on other objects, and those objects' state is affected by the state of the original object. Changing the state of the original has complex ripple effects, so it's easier just to fix everything when the containing object is constructed. It might be sort of a facade or mediator pattern.
    And i know how a VM works, =P !If you want to know more, here is where I got it from. That link might be the 2nd or 3rd article in the series. I'm not sure which one explains why object creation (and GC, for that matter) isn't necessarily the huge performance hit some people assume it is The whole series (3 articles, I think) is worth reading.

  • Investigating a problem that's beyond the readily available technical support.

    I've been having a problem with LR 4.4, apparently with a corrupt catalog, about which I've spoken at length with Technical Support in India several times, with discouraging results.  The first three calls were with first-level support people; it became abundantly clear that the knowledge of these people is very limited: they couldn't even comprehend the nature of the problem.  I then spoke this Friday evening for about three hours with a supervisor, a very pleasant man who clearly had a quite sophisticated knowledge of the workings of LR4 and tried very hard (and long) to help me resolve the problem.  After three hours of meeting with continued frustration, he suggested he'd bring up the issue with colleagues at a Technical Support meeting they're having this coming Monday and then call me back.  In the meantime, when I tried to start up LR to explore the problem further on my own, I found that it wouldn't launch.  I've been through some of the more thoughtful discussions about this issue on this site, but none I've seen so far looks promising.
    At this point, there seems to be no recourse with Adobe, beyond calling the Technical Support number that connects me with the facility in India.  Does anyone know of any other approach?
    Thanks for your attention.

    I'll give it a try, but it's best done with a screen-shot, which I now can't make because I after my last telephone support session, I can't launch LR.
    My catalog is corrupt.  That was revealed by the support supervisor during the recent three-hour marathon session in which I gave him control of my computer.  He elicited a corrupt-catalog error message, but unfortunately I don't know how and I don't have a copy.
    I'm running  LR 4.4 under Windows 7 (updated) on a Dell Optiplex 760. My image files  are arranged chronologically under C:/Users/MyName/My Pictures in folders by year, one folder per year. Within each year there are sub-folders containing the image files (mostly Nikon raw), one for each date on which the images were captured. (For example,  C:/Users/MyName/My Pictures/2013/2013-04-24.)  (My image files occupy about 400 GB of disk space and are backed up, as are my Lightroom data.)
    The main superficial symptom of the problem is the following: For the most part, the arrangement of folders in LR (as seen in the left panel in the Library module) has exactly the same struture (e.g., My Pictures/2013/2013-04-24), except for the year 2013.  That year's folder contains many but not all of the by-date folders that are on the hard disk.  However, I have imported those files.  They appear under a second top-level folder in LR, the exact name of which, I can't recall for sure.  Those folders cannot be moved into the proper tree because the folders already exist there.  Now, when I try to import new recently captured images, they appear by date-of-capture under the second top-level folder, not the the "proper" one.
    One could argue, "Why not just go along this way since what really counts is organizing your images by collection sets, collections, keywords, etc.?"  While I sympathize with this suggestion, I have two problems with it.  1) I rely quite a bit on a well-organized folder structure and 2) the problem reflects a corrupt catalog (with other unknown consequences down the road).
    I'm hoping that the support supervisor will have a solution on Monday, but I'm not confident.  Furthermore, what little confidence I at the end of the support session was further eroded by finding that I couldn't launch LR.  I realize I could try re-installing LR, but the problem is messy enough as it is.
    It's possible that I created this problem myself somewhere along the way during a recent version upgrade (and catalog upgrade) and subsequent manipulations, but regardless of the cause, I need to have it fixed.  Unfortunately, trying to deal with Adobe support is like dealing with a brick wall.
    Thanks for your attention.

  • GW2012 PO problems after upgrade

    Last weekend I finished off the upgrade of our Primary Domain and Post Offices to GW2012 (OES11) from GW8 (NW8). The MTA and 4 remote site post offices had been done prior and had mostly been working fine - segfault issue with one PO. The final 3 (and largest) post offices were done over the weekend. The MTA and these three post offices are clustered on VMWare 4.1. The remote sites are on physical servers. All are OES11 using NSS for the GroupWise volume.
    Prior to the post offices being moved, the MTA had not skipped a beat and the two cluster servers behaved. Once the PO's were loaded there have constant lock ups/crashes and subsequent DB corruptions. This occurs after the POA's are loaded for the two largest PO's. Using TOP I noticed that the load average would creep up and up until the whole system had a heart attack.
    I am only just learning to use Linux, so my investigation skills are fairly limited, though I was able to figure out it has something to do with the quickfinder indexing. Once I turned it off, the load average has stayed down and the post offices seem stable for the moment.
    I was thinking of doing a top down rebuild and unless i'm given a very good reason why not too, i'm going to leave the quickfinder indexing off until the school holidays when I can investigate further.
    I suppose what I'm asking is what more do you suggest I can do to stabilise the system? What should I do regarding the quickfinder indexing?
    A few other issues we've noted that we hope someone might be able to shed some lights on
    * Many staff members have been unable to access their mailbox as their password seems to have been deleted/reset.
    * One post offices http monitor does not have many of the hyperlinks for settings? I.E: if I go to MTP Status, neither Send or Recieve can be clicked on to change the address
    * Web Access (GW 8 Secondary domain) has started maxing out it's C/S settings and needs to be bounced. This has never been an issue until Tuesday (Monday was a public holiday - long live the Queen)
    Thanks is advance for any help
    Cheers

    I'm not sure what you checked with the zlssiostatus, but *all* your
    symptoms, from a to z sound *exactly* like how a severe I/O crippled GW
    system behaves. E.G, this is exactly how a GW system "runs" (or better,
    runs not), when the diks system is too slow for GW. It will slowly but
    surely run into a deadlock situation that will couse precisely all your
    symptoms (memory usage rises, coXX errors, inability to cleanly
    dismount/deactivate pools or volumes, c/s threads maxing out, all these
    sort of things.)
    So, what *is* your storage behind all this?

  • VIEW Query Problem

    Hi Greg,
    I had created a view on a table which doesn't have Primary Key, but it has Unique and Not Null constraints on required columns.
    I had wrote a procedure to query the data on VIEW. I have experienced strange problem, very first call to procedure will take more time than succeeding requests. For example from second request onwards, it returns data in < 2 Sec, but first transaction is taking 12 Sec to 30 Sec.
    I thought that very first time VIEW is taking time to refresh it self. So, I added FORCE keyword in CREATE VIEW stattement. However, that doesn't helped out.
    In my further investigation I came to know that base table on which VIEW created, has to be loaded in to memory before querying on VIEW.
    So, I had executed a simple select statement on base table, before I execute VIEW query in procedure.
    With this change I got results consistently < 2 Sec all the times.
    My question is instead of executing the select statement on base table is there a way to load base tables data in memory before querying on VIEW?
    Thanks,
    Subbarao

    Hi,
    A view is nothing but parsed SQL statements stored in the database, a view may or may not run faster. If you execute the SQL used to define the view how much time is it taking. If you want try looking at MATERIALIZED VIEW , that may help you.
    thanks

    Hi,
    look at sap note 921593 and search for myCluster ,
    read that section following is a part of that note.
    Symptom:
    During the import into a UNICODE system the following error occurs
    (for example in the SAPCLUST.log):
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 2085: (Warning:) inconsistent field names(source): physical field K1N05 appears as logic K1N5.
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 2086: (Warning:) further investigation recommended
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 1924: error when checking key field consistency for logic table TACOPC    .
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 1927: logic table is canonical.
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 1930: received return code 2 from c3_uc_check_key_field_descr_consistency.
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 1224: unable to retrieve nametab info for logic table TACOPC    .
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 8032: unable to acquire nametab info for logic table TACOPC    .
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 2807: failed to convert cluster data of cluster item.
    myCluster: CLU4       *00001*
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 319: error during conversion of cluster item.
    myCluster (63.2.Imp): 322: affected physical table is CLU4.

    Cause:
    This problem is caused by incorrect data which should have been removed from the source system before the export.
    Solution:
    There are two possible workarounds:
          1. Modify DDL<dbs>.TPL (<dbs> = ADA, DB2, DB4, DB6, IND, MSS, ORA) BEFORE the R3load TSK files are generated;
                  search for the keyword "negdat:" and add "CLU4" and "VER_CLUSTR" to this line.
          2. Modify the TSK file (most probably SAPCLUST.TSK) BEFORE R3load import is (re-)started;
                  search for the lines starting with "D CLU4 I" and "D VER_CLUSTR I" and change the status (i.e. "err" or "xeq") to "ign" or remove the lines.

  • New WSUS on Server 2012 - problem with win8 clients

    Hi,
    Two weeks ago we created a new Server 2012 and installed the WSUS role from scratch on it.  Its version number is:  6.2.9200.16384.  It replaced a Server 2008 WSUS server.  After some time all the win7 clients updated and reported as
    they did on the old and replaced server.
    However all our win8 clients refuse to update against this server.  They show correctly up in WSUS server console each with 107 needed updates day after day.  We have rebooted them and done numerous wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow and wuauclt
    /detectnow /reportnow, but to no avail.
    I paste in some lines from a win8 client winupdate log at the end of this message if someone can figure out what I have to do to get these clients update as they did against the old wsus server.  Thanks for help on this issue.
    regards Tor

    Today I opened Control Panel / Windows Updates and first did a check for new updates (from the WSUS server).  Nothing was found and it reported Windows is Updated.   Then I clicked the link Check for updates from Microsoft via internet, and
    it found around 24 updates.
    This is confirmation of the point that I made in the previous post. The updates are *NEEDED* by this system, but the updates were not *AVAILABLE* from the assigned WSUS Server. You were able to get them from Windows Update, but that does not fix your continuing
    issue with the WSUS Server.
    but it still reported the original 108 Needed updates.
    Exactly. As previously noted, the client is functioning perfectly. The problem is NOT with the client; the problem is with the WSUS Server. The updates that this client needed were not AVAILABLE to be downloaded from the WSUS server.
    Why this is the case requires further investigation on your part, but is either because the updates are not properly approved, or the update FILES are not yet downloaded from Microsoft to the WSUS server.
    It appears that the wsus server doesn't get any information back from the client despite that it displays new Last contact and Last Status report timestamps.
    This conclusion is incorrect. The WSUS Server got every bit of information available from the client -- you've confirmed this by the number of updates reported as "Needed" by the Windows Update Agent to the WSUS Server.
    I assumed that the log would display if the updates were downloaded or not.
    It will log when the updates are actually downloaded. If there's no log entries for updates being downloaded, then they're not being downloaded. If the logfile says "Found 0 updates", then that means exactly what it says: It couldn't find any approved/available
    updates to download.
    In your case it "Found 11 updates", but now it will be impossible to diagnose that fault, because you went and got them from Windows Update.
    All Win8 versions are checked in the WSUS server's Product list so the updates should at least have been downloaded to the server.
    This is why understanding the infrastructure is so critical. Your conclusion is invalid based on the premise given, and you may be using improper terminology which only confuses the rest of us as well.
    First, selecting updates for synchronization only gets the update metadata (i.e. the detection logic) downloaded to the WSUS database.
    The Second Step in this process is to Approve those updates for one or more WSUS Target Groups that contain the appropriate client systems. Following the approval of an update, the WSUS Server downloads the INSTALLATION FILE for that update.
    Once the WUAgent sees an approved update and the installation file is available, then the WUAgent will download the file and schedule the update for installation.
    Most of the post I read about my problem is about upgrading a 2008 WSUS server to support Win8 / Server 12 clients.  When I try to run this update on my Server 12 WSUS it refuses to run (probably because it is for Server 2008).
    Yeah.. totally different issue in those posts than what you're describing here.
    What should I do to try to track down the problem?
    Well.... now that it's 11 days since the logfile was posted, and you've already updated that system, we'll first need to find another system exhibiting the same issue.
    Then I'll need to ask a number of questions to properly understand the environment, as well as what you have or have not done.
    Then, from there, we can attempt to figure out why your Windows 8 client apparently sees some updates as approved/available but is still not downloading them. We do not yet have sufficient information to even speculate on a possible cause -- there are several.
