URLScraper and French Locale

I'm trying to set up a multilingual portal at the company (fr & en more may follow). I can't figure out how the URLscraper would handle french. I noticed that there is a separate .properties file for french titles, etc. but how can the scraper sling french content rather than english content to the user based on language preference?
Do we have to:
1. create a separate role and/or scraper for french and english?
2. Make sure the content is bilingual?
3. Scrape a custom JSP provider that reads the local attribute and serves content in the appropriate language?
4. Other?
Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks & Cheers,
-Dug

The problem is portal does not support localization per channel, hence there is really no configuration you can do to acheive that. Looking at the options you have listed.
1.) This is possible if the user would always see content only for his local if that is the case then you can create seperate channels for your locales then put users in seperate roles based on the locales serve appropriate content.
3.) you can write a jsp to scrape the content yourself. THe jsp can display the content based on the local selected for the user. This is the most general option of the 3 and probably the most flexible for you ..

  • Problems with FacesMessage and French locale

    Some messages that I have translated in French are not substituting the {0} with the message. I am definitely passing in a value (in this case "521-009") but it is not being substituted. The locale message is
    Le sujet a été soigneusement sélectionné et s'est vu allouer un numéro de sujet de {0}. Un email vous a été transmis confirmant ces informations
    Anyone else had this problem or have any ideas why it's happening ?

    Hi Frank,
    The message is being displayed within an af:messages component, manually added in by calling "JsfUtils.getInstance().addMessage" however, in trying to debug where the problem was I used the following code
    MessageFactory messageFactory = JsfUtils.getInstance().getMessageFactory();
    FacesMessage message = messageFactory.getMessage("VISIT1_MSG", null);
    String summary = message.getSummary();
    MessageFormat formatter = new MessageFormat(summary, JsfUtils.getInstance().getLocale());
    Object messageArgs[] = {subjectId};
    System.out.println(formatter.format(messageArgs));
    And the result of formatter.format(messageArgs) is the same - the {0} is not being substituted (note my browser locale is set to "fr")

  • Verity collection and French Accents

    I have a problem I have this french website I'm trying to
    manage but I'm having trouble with the stupid french accents. If I
    get the data from the database with a cfquery no problem I jsut add
    a cfcontent tag with the corect local and bingo all is good.
    Now when I ptu the data from the database in a collection
    then start the problem. I tried with meta tag and cfcontent and a
    bunch load of other stuff but I still get ??? in stead of the
    éèçà and so forth. Now my database is mysql on
    french local, collection was created with the language french
    option.
    I'm not sure what else to try to get those weird char to go
    up.

    I folowed this link
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_18163
    and I did try to go in the style.uni and change all the
    charset form 1252 to 8859 then reindex the collection but it did
    not work. I tried diferent language for the create collection but
    still no luck.
    I still cant find a way to change the charset for my

    cfsearch I get what I want, but it is not a very efective way to
    search.

  • Finder window's "Network" icon has a name bug in French localized version

    In Mac OS X Tiger (and previous versions already), when running in French localized, the "Network" icon on the left side of Finder window is translated "Réseau". This is correct.
    When no network is available (no cable connected to the Ethernet port for instance), then "Réseau" turns into the english name "Network". When the network is again connected, then "Network" turns back into the French localized name "Réseau".

  • French locales on mounted usb

    I use french locales (fr_CA-iso9985-15) and I have no problem, but when KDE automounts my USB keys. It seems then that it ignores my locales  and the display is awful (no accents at all, but %?%"!@ instaed!). Any idea please?

    Yeah. I've installed SP1, and the USB 2.0 drivers. Personally, I don't care too much if I'm using USB 1 or 2.0 as long as it works. I'm only using my USB for a couple game controllers, so bandwidth isn't important (but having them front-mounted is).
    I'm not sure which USB port doesn't work with Bluetooth, and a forum search didn't enlighten me.... so I'm not sure how to answer that.
    Here's some theories I came up with:
    1. Perhaps some Windows configuration error is preventing it from talking to that particular USB port (anyone know of some free diagnostic software that could test this? -- perhaps by talking to the USB device in DOS mode or from a bootable Linux CD or something?)
    2. Perhaps there is a wiring problem on the motherboard which is leaving one of the pins disconnected from that port.
    3. Maybe there's something special that I need to do with pin 10 that I don't know about.
    4. Perhaps the motherboard's USB controller is defective in a way that only one of the USB ports isn't working (I don't know how to test this).
    BTW, thanks for taking the time to respond

  • French locale is set but OS is English

    Hi,
    I have a very strange situation.
    I installed the Solaris 10 on SPARC using the JumpStart Server and then I have created image.
    In the host_class configuration file I included the French and others locale:
    e.g:
    locale fr_CA
    locale fr_CA.ISO8859-1
    locale fr_FR.ISO8859-1
    locale fr_FR.UTF-8
    locale fr_FR
    But when I am logging to the system the Solaris is English (almost everything)
    In /etc/default/init file thre are entries:
    TZ=Japan
    CMASK=022
    LANG=fr_FR.ISO8859-1
    [root@sun1 /]# locale
    LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8

    LC_TIME=fr_FR.UTF-8
    LC_COLLATE=fr_FR.UTF-8

    LC_MESSAGES=fr.UTF-8

    Problem solved.
    I've installed all French language packages which were listed in the documentation.
    One thing I do not understand, why all necessary French packages didn't installed during JumpStart installation.

    1) I have copied Wingdng2.ttf file to $BIHome/jdk/jre/lib/fonts/ folder.

    CUCM version is 8.0.3. Any ideas will be much appreciated.
    Regards,

    Hi Armin,
    You could be seeing this behavior due to this bug;
    Incorrect locale version cause VM outage
    CSCtq97240
    Symptom:
    Unity connection 8.5.1 installed with locales may experience the following issues
    1.When users try to leave message ,they get the fail safe message
    2.Sometimes they are able to leave message , message doesnt get delivered and no MWI
    Conditions:
    When Locale version ES 24 is installed on UC 8.5(1) [ ES 16] or less
    Workaround:
    please downgrade the locale version to ES 16  if you have 8.5(1)SU1 or use US English language.
    Though the Release notes of 8.5(1)
    http://www.cisco.com/web/software/282074314/49311/851su1cucrm.pdf
    clearly  mentions about the compatibility , Many customers think its good for  them to install the latest locale ES and hence end with this condition.
    This is the compatibility matrix for locales
    ========================================
    a) No locales are available for Connection 8.5(1) base version only.
    b) Locale SU1 is supported with Connection 8.5(1)SU1.
    c) Locale ES 24 is supported with Connection 8.5(1)ES 17 to ES 36 only.
    d) Locale ES 24 is not tested for Connection 8.5(1)ES 37 to ES46.
    e) Locale 8.5(1)SU2 is supported with Connection 8.5(1)SU2 only. Not all locales available as of now
    f)  Locale 8.5(1)SU3 is supported with Connection 8.5(1)SU3 only. Only Japanese is available as of now.
    g)  Locale 8.5(1)ES72 is supported with Connection 8.5(1)ES72 only. Only Brazilian-Portuguese is available as of now.

  • French Locale for 8.5.1.12900-7

    Team,
    We have CUCM 8.5.1.12900-7 Unrestricted and recently we have added a site in AIX France in to our cluster located at Leeds. With reference to that we need to install User and Network French Locale in to our cluster. While checking in Cisco Product download section for 8.5.1, I do not see 8.5.1.12900-7 but I see only 8.5.1.2100-1. How to Install French Locale for 8.5.1.12900-7 in to our CUCM cluster. We are also running  UCCX 8.5.1.11003-32 in our cluster. Do I need to install French locale in to UCCX Server as well? Please share your thoughts.
    Solomon.

    Thank you Chris. Infact cm-locale-fr_FR-8.5.1.2100-1.cop worked for our CUCM 8.5.1.12900-7. I am able to Install that locale in to our CUCM. So this locale will takes care of both User and Network French locales in my CUCM right???
    Another question is, We also run Contact Center in our cluster. Currently we are running with 8.5.1.11003-32. Do I need to install locale even in UCCX as well for French Contact Center users.
    Solomon.

  • Report Scheduling. How to syncronize the GMT and the local server timezones

    Hi everybody, I need to schedule reports using the Schedule tab on BIP, but I didn't still understand how the syncronization between my server's timezone and the GMT timezone works.....
    I noticed that when I open the Report Schedules initial page, this is refreshed using the GMT timezone as follows:
    Page Refreshed   Monday, July 26, 2010 7:53 AM GMT
    Actually I'm located in Athens (GMT+3)
    I noticed that if I want to Run once a report, ONLY the GMT is took in consideration.
    For example, I want to run a report at 11.30 (Athens timeone) where the time conditions are the following:
    BIP time (GMT timezone): 08.00 AM GMT
    server timezone: 11.00 AM (Athens time)
    So, if I want to run a report at 11.30 AM (Athens time), I have to write in BIP (Run once) 08.30 AM, instead of 11.30, otherwise if I put 11.30, the report runs 3 hours and 30 minutes later instead of only 30 minutes !!! This is very frustrating....because it means that everytime I need to remember that there is a difference of 3 hours and if I want effectively....
    I also set the Report Formatting Time Zone = GMT+03:00 to fill the gap between the GMT's timezone and Athens's timezone but it didn't work....
    I found that the variable <xsl:param name="_XDOTIMEZONE">GMT</xsl:param> is set into the tmpl.xsl; I tried to change it (GMT+3 or GMT+03:00), I stop and restart the BIP server....but nothing...the BIP timezone is always GMT (as showed by th Page Refreshed date and time).
    At the end my question is this: is there a way to modify the internal BIP timezone in order to fill the gap between this and the server timezone ?
    In other words, I'd like to see the page refreshed with the server timezone (Athens timezone) and not the GMT timezone, in order to schedule reports thinking directly my local server timezone (and not think always to calculate how many hours is the difference).
    This, I think is a common issue for everybody, but....I didn't find nothing in the forum....
    If somebody found a workaround, every help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Alex

    Good Morning Vetsrini,
    I know that the "Report Formatting Time Zone" is used to set the timezone properly INSIDE the report...but my attention now is concentrated on the Scheduling...
    As I mentioned before I'd like to find a way to syncronize the BIP timezone (based on GMT) and my local server timezone (Athens, GMT+2), and this I think it's possiblie only if I can modify the BIP timezone (GMT): instead to have GMT, I'd like to have GMT+2 in order to have the same time in both of systems.
    I already tried to change the variable <xsl:param name="_XDOTIMEZONE">GMT</xsl:param> into the tmpl.xsl, but it didn't work....
    I don't understand how all the others millions of BIP users who don't live in UK can use the scheduler keeping in mind always the gap between their local time and the GMT time set in BIP......
    Do you have another hint or workaround ?
    Thanks for your help
    Alex

  • There was a problem connecting to the server "my server.local" this file is available on your computer. Access the files and volumes locally.

    Hi,
    I have a strange problem connecting one of the office laptops (Macbook Pro 10.7) to the disk in the Apple Time Capsule.  It's just one laptop that has this problem and the other 3 no problems at all and they all run OS X 10.7 Lion, I can access the Time Capsule disk over WAN on all machines but locally on the problem machine i get this message "There was a problem connecting to the server "myserver.local" this file is available on your computer. Access the files and volumes locally."   Now from this message it sounds like the problem laptop thinks the network drive (Time Capsule) is the same as it's self in the way of name or address however they clearly have different IP addresses locally.
    Any ideas on this would be apreciated as I can only think a clean install but don't want to do this if not necessary.
    Thanks
    Jarrah

    I think I gave you some bad info in the above, where i enterered the text "myserver.local" & "example.local" this was the host name of the server (Time Capsule) so not local on the computer.
    No i didn't try your method, I'll give it a go - I thought the folder option was for local files and not on a server ?

  • Smb. Access the volumes and files locally. all lies!

    I want to connect to a windows box which has sharing enabled. I was doing this yesterday and it was fine. Today, Mavericks has thrown in the towel and decided to think different.
    What I normally do is CMD-K and connect to the server. I'll type it in - smb://tardproof - but it can't do it.
    So I'll try connecting to it by it's known, fixed IP address - smb://192.168.0.107 - and ...
    Hmm, that's strange. Since the mac clearly thinks it *can* see it on the network, otherwise why would it be listing it in the finders' "Shared" area? I mean, that's an automatic thing and not something you can command-drag out like normal locations...
    ok.. so if I try to click on it there ...
    Maybe it's authentication. I'll "Connect as ..."
    Dang! Ok, lets think about this. Maybe it's SMB playing up. I know, I'll connect forcing SMB1, since I know Mavericks now defaults to v2.
    and
    Dang! (again). No, wait, the message has changed. "Access the volumes and files locally." Sweet, let me just
    I'm sorry, where?
    hmm, lets just check this out
    so ok, there's definately nothing there in /Volumes, but I know I can ping it. Let's have a look from the other end - can Windows see my mac?
    Yep. All good there. So we have a single direction smb system, in the exact opposite than I need.
    Dang!

    This has been happening repeatedly and has been reported to the hosts in the Lounge. They "are working on a fix."

    Thank you for you help in advance

    If you buy an iPhone at the UK or Canadian Apple stores, it should work on the GSM frequencies in both countries. LTE will not work as the LTE channels are different in each country and each iPhone sold in each country is only compatible on LTE channels of that particular country. Other wise it should be fine.
    Be aware that only the Apple store (retail or online) sells the unlocked iPhone in the UK. I think the situation is similar in Canada. (It is in the US).
