is anyone actually buying the ipod touch for music, because that is what i am doing, but i havent heard anything on these forums besides either video or web browsing. I dont really know why i am asking but i think it is my wanting someone else to do the same thing as i.
so help out!

I did like all the other features but mainly for music,
It is replacing my old 1st Gen Nano, it broke when someone step on it and smashed it to pieces, and then this ipod came out the next day. lol
I think that the music functionality is awesome on this ipod,
the sound is very good, especially through these headphones they gave us
You can easily find the song you are look for, and at the moment im working on aWeek 38 with the new 1.1.1 update, and Cover Flow is flawless. Except i havent got some album artworks.
The controls are easy to use, and from any other screen on the iPodT, you can double click the home button to get quick music controls.
The only negative thing im going to say is, you cant change or do anything with the ipod and its music when it is in your pcket, you must take it out and manually unlock it or whatever.. eg, volume, next song or pausing it.

No, that would not be possible, because the maximum resolution on an LCD screen is constrained by the fixed size of the pixels. You can't make the pixels smaller.

Out of curiosity: Will Activation Lock still work after an iPhone auto-erases on the 10th failed passcode attempt?

Believe me, I'm no chicken when it comes to security. Using a combination of a strong alphanumeric passcode laced with non-Latin homoglyphs, Activation Lock (which Find My iPhone automatically enables), a disabled Siri when the phone is locked, a disabled Control Center when the phone is locked (both of those are security risks due to Airplane Mode), and Data Protection (erase phone after 10 failed passcode attempts), there's no doubt someone other than me is going to have a real hard time trying to use my device...
... Or so it seems. I've been digging through the Apple support articles to find out what exactly Activation Lock does, and I noticed that if someone goes into Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings and erases the device in a seemingly authorized manner, Activation Lock gets disabled with it. However, if someone else tries to erase it, or if it's erased remotely, then it will still display the Activation Lock message and require login with the username and passcode used to log in initially. Here's the real issue, though: Not one of those articles mentions what happens when you have Data Protection enabled and Data Protection happens to get set off by a thief attempting to brute force one's passcode, and how nicely Activation Lock plays with it. Does anyone else have that information, just in case?

While I have yet to confirm this with Apple, my understanding is that the auto-erase wil leave the Activation Lock intact. AL wouldn't be of much use if a thief could get around it by just entering in the wrong passcode multiple times. You'll forgive me though, I trust, if I don't try to test this with my own device.

NForce 3 - out of curiosity

Just posting a quick question. What is nForce 3 going to be like? At the moment they've only brought out the pro version for workstations, but what about the home user. Should we wait for nForce 3 or stick with the already crowned nForce 2?

As nforce3 Pro, the nforce3 will be dedicated to the AMD64 architecture.
The major difference is that the nforce3 Pro is for the Opteron (Server class processor, support multi proc and had dual channel DDR) when the nforce3 would be for the Athlon64 (single channel DDR, no multiproc).
This is merelly conjecture, but i think it will be close, mostly because the 2 famillies are close, but different pin count (because of the double controleur in opteron).
The Athlon XP will get a nforce2 refresh for the 400MHz bus and some more options in the MCP.

Where can I find downloads for Mac OS 7-9 (out of curiosity)

I briefly remember that apple offered Operating systems older than Mac OS X for download but I still can't find them. If you knows were to find Mac OS 7-9 please tell me at your earliest convenience.

Yes, on those machines rated by Apple for OS 9. You will need to acquire a retail OS 9 Install CD in order to do that - there are no download updates to take any version of OS 7 to any version of OS 8, nor any version of OS 8 to any version of OS 9. Each of those major-version jumps can be made only by using a retail OS Install CD; however, intermediate versions are not needed.
The best way to install a major-version jump is via a Clean Install. Note that a Clean Install (in Mac terminology) will not remove anything; instead, it installs a brand new System Folder, renames the old one to Previous System Folder, installs a new set of utility apps, and little else.

It opens to the default topic. I thought Rick or someone
indicated in another thread that this is more the way the email
client handles it than the browser. If you use the # method in a
brower address bar it works.

Out of curiosity regarding the cover

When I open the back cover of my z10, there are two metal protruding which, when the cover is placed back, get attached to the two metallic plates on the cover in order to close the circuit. What is all this for?

It's more popular in other parts of the world but even where it IS well known, it's still in its infancy. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, Apple didn't even offer it in its phones until only recently. I've used it a few times on my Z30 and it's a great technology. It's nice to be able to transfer photos, videos and internet links without having to pair up your phone with another using Bluetooth; you just say you want to use NFC, you hold both devices close to each other and you're done. I've also used it to pay for my coffee and donut order at Tim Hortons (a very popular donut chain here in Canada). It's cool to see the attendant's face light up when I use it because despite it being a choice for paying, most other smartphones only use the scannable barcode method.

Out of Curiosity......

....why does CS3 operate so well natively on Win7 64 bit OS? I am told even by MS it is not gonna work; use virtualization or up grade. Others here have had problems even getting XP virtual to run, for me, it runs happily along.
It actually has me worried!
Is this a bug?

I recevied an iPhone 5 as a gift in the month of january from my friend from US. Am in INDIA and am using it in INDIA only. It was perfectly working fine until i upgraded it to ios 7 beta version through a third party. i saw one of my fried doing this and it was working fine for his device. So out of curiosity i too tried d same as a result of which my device just showed me an apple LOGO and after that nothing happend. I got worried and called the customer support people. They adviced me to downgrade it to ios 6.1.4 using the factory resetting option. I did the same as they directed me to do. the phone was successfully restored. Now here comes the problem. The device says that "this iphone has been activated with t****@icloud.com, so please enter that valid id. If i enter my apple id it returs an error stating that this [email protected] cannot be used to activate this phone. but other than this particular id if i give any other id it throws "Invalid Id or Password". One of the Customer support person told me that this cannot be replaced in INDIA, you need to send it to US to get it replaced. I tried this option as well. The person from US said that this device cannot be replaced as this one is a software issue, and he suggested me to wait till ios7 gets released. I called the customer support people again and they said that this might be due to the software corruption so please do wait till ios 7 gets released and after that resotring the device to factory settings it must work. Now i restored the device using factory restoring to ios 7. My device has been restored to ios 7. But still i am facing the same issue. Really frustrated to the core. can someone help me fix this. Now the customer support person is telling to send the device to US again and have a check with them. jun, july, august and spet. 4 months of no iphone and its just lying as a toy inside my cupboard which is of no use. Frrl like crying.the customer support people in INDIA told me that there is an option of paid replacement in INDIA for the software issues, but he is not sure whthr this option is available in US. So please someone tell me what can be done, am ready for the paid replacement as well.

How can I get MacKeeper out of my Mac machine & others

ist: MacKeeper Helper got into my machine trash and obstructed me from emptying my trash, which is accumulating. Each time I empty my trash it says 'Mackeeper Helper is in use' Why did it want to get into my trash and how did it? I downloaded MacKeeper in April of 2013 and later never touched it. I did not understand what it was for and don't need it. I am a 80+ senior and very very hard of hearing who couldn't understand all this new technology. I just wanted a computer to communicate with the few friends that I have. I have other problems too.
2nd: I think it was in 2009 or 2010 (the time when the large desktop computer just came on sale), and added another year of warranty and also joined the class to learn about computer. When the warranty expired at end of 2012 Google popped up asking for the password of IMAP & SMTP. Nobody told me that I should remember that, and so got into trouble. I, having no one to help, went on the net to search for help about restoring my SMTP (outgoing mail) password. Mac Technical Support 1st it was under the name of USFIX TECHNICAL SERVICES (I paid $99.99. ("payment" <[email protected]>. When I called again it came under a new name of "Pairsys Inc" <[email protected]> telephone #855-786-4335 I paid $299.99 for 1 year. But in October the MacKeeper got into my trash and the SMTP password was refused again. I can only receive mail but cannot send out.
3rd. : Mail & MacKeeper wanted access to my keylink password, which I never knew I had one, and one day mistakenly clicked on the keylink (out of curiosity) to see what it contains and locked it..
Now I am in a mess. It all started with the SMTP password.

How to find out if Adobe products bought "as is" in an auction have been activated? [was: license]

Hello everybody out there,
we're an IT business. We've bought several Adobe products in an auction. As the products are sold "as is", we don't know if they've been activated or not.
We've bought those products in order to resell them. Does someone know how we could know if our products (CS4, CS5, CS5.5 and some standalone apps) are activated ...Without activating them ?
If it's not possible, is there a way to de-activate some licenses ?
In the worst case, is it possible and legal to resell an Adobe product that has been activated (I guess it isn't) ?

Adobe has a license transfer process for legally buying and selling products.

Without that transfer process, Adobe has no way of knowing if you are the legal owner of the product licenses.

12GB already used on out-of-the-box refurb MBP?

Just a quick question--
My refurbished 15-inch MBP (2.2 Ghz, 120 GB hard disk) just arrived. I took it out of the box, started up and registered, and was planning to shift things from my old Powerbook G4 in Target disk mode, etc, but haven't done ANYTHING else yet. Out of curiosity I clicked on About this Mac, and saw that my HD has a capacity of 111.47 GB (I understand that "120 GB" probably means about 111 GB in reality), but that there is only 99.05 GB available, and 12.42 GB already used. Is that how much is needed for the basic Tiger (10.4.10) and applications that came preloaded on my MBP? If not, any ideas why 12.42 already used? Should I do an erase-and-install with Tiger OS? Do you think Apple didn't fully clean or erase the disk?

When Apple says "120 GB hard drive" they mean 120 billion bytes. But strictly speaking, 1 GB is 10243 bytes, not 10003 bytes.
So when Finder says "111.47 GB capacity", it means 111.47 gigabytes, which is 111.47×10243=119.69 billion bytes. So your question is actually what happened to the missing 296 MB (or 0.31 billion bytes), and the answer is one of rounding error, disk overhead, or an extra partition on the hard drive used for booting. (The Boot camp forum has comments about an "extra" 300MB partition on the hard drive.)
Unfortunately, the misleading "x GB hard drive" label for what is really an x÷1.0243 GB drive has become an industry standard, and is always stated in the fine print.

How do I seperate a single page out of an InDesign Document?

I've created an 8 page catalog in InDesign- now a sales rep. wants just two of the pages singly as PDF files. What is the best way to do this? I know I can export the whole thing as a PDF, then use Acrobat to separate the pages, or I can print to Acrobat and specify which pages will be in the document.
Is there a better way to do this directly from InDesign?

OK, I see it now. For some reason I had it in my head that all you could do was to set the Adobe PDF Presets, then export the entire document using those presets. I wasn't paying attention when exporting.
Out of curiosity, why can you set the PDF presets seperately, when it's all there again when you are actually exporting to PDF? What's the advantage?

Is engineer coming out worth it?

In the last 4 days, I have had
one day all 3 recordings part recorded, if a recording has totally failed, you get the red triangle at the side of it. But with part recordings, you think there is no problem, its only when you press play you get the dreaded message "your recording lasts 4 minutes" which is even more annoying.
2 days ago watching a programme, went to change channels and the remote was not working. Rebooted yet again.
Today the box decided to switch itself off
BT said they would send an engineer after I called about the failed recordings, except after a long wait on the phone, I was told no engineers are available. Somebody would ring me in 24 hours to arrange a visit, that was 3 days ago, sadly no phone call yet.
If I have a day off work what can the engineer possibly do? the problems are well known.
I have a BT router, which is cabled directly from my one and only BT socket. the router has a cable directly into the Vision box, so I have the optimum setup.
I used to get annoyed when I had a problem with the box, now I just laugh, the whole thing is a joke, I have decided to sit it out till my contract ends in March, then i'm off, no guesses where!

thanks for your help, my wife has informed me this morning Dallas (hers) only recorded 19 minutes on Wednesday, so she aint happy.
After reading your links it is becoming a bit clearer, in fact there is a section dedicated to Failed recordings and missing channels in the Help & settings section. Ominously, under Planned freeview changes, 7th November is listed which I can now explain to my wife is the reason Dallas failed, I am sure she will take great comfort from that. I also notice there is another Freeview change on Wed. 14th November, so no doubt there will be tears again next week. Just out of curiosity does anybody know if there was a Freeview change on the 4th November when I lost 3 recordings.
After a Freeview change, am I supposed to do a rescan of channels? and why is it only affecting certain boxes?
I personally believe that BT Vision blows Sky out of the water, but with Sky I had a handful of problems in over 10 years, with BT I have had dozens in 11 months. I also think customers who have had problems should get compensation for a product clearly not being delivered. Any thoughts on this.
My contract ends with BT in March next year, BT should sort out all these problems by then, err shouldn't they?
