Usage of Pattern Development UIElements in NW CE or Ehp1

Hi All,
Can we use Pattern Development UIElements in NW CE or Ehp1 ?
Still I see a message in NWDS saying "ContextualPanel: To be used only by the Portal Platform group. Other usages by applications and customers WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED!" .
Regards, Anil

Hi Stefanie,
I agree with you.
For example : Pattern Tray UIElement will give you enhanced look & fell interms of layout compared to normal Tray UIElement.
But coming to the functionaly,Looks like we need to code for collapse and expand features !!!
1 .If someone is looking for functionality and looking for more look&feel then can they go for Pattern based UIElements ??
2. How about the support on pattern UIElements going forward in future releases ??

  • Double the memory usage in SQL Developer 1.5 vs 1.2.1

I have observed that SQL Developer 1.5 uses at least twice the amount of RAM than 1.2.1 when performing the same functions. This seems rather inefficient. I am merely opening the application and opening a single connection, where 1.2.1 uses ~60MB RAM, while 1.5 uses ~110 - 150MB ram. Is something wrong here, or is the enhancing of the GUI in 1.5 just using up mad RAM? Can this be cleaned up somehow? Thanks.

I agree I have noticed 1.5 is very taxing on my machine.
    1.51 5440
    XP 1 GB RAM
According to Task Manager, Mem Usage is 6.5 mb, and VM is 240 meg, this is one database connection and editing one function.
I know memory issues were brought up in other versions but it seems it is getting worse not better. I wish Oracle would acknowledge the issue.

  • Domains usage in SQL Developer data MODELER

    Hi,
I'm trying to understand how to use Domains in Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler. We use version 3.1.3 .  before I used Toad Modeler  where domains are just part of your main design.
Oracle data modeler has some different concept.
let's assume I'm working on 2 designs:  DesignA and DesignB that include relational models.
DesignA and Design B should use domains but list of domains in design A is very different than in design B.
Default domain file is located on c: drive where SqlModeler is installed. It is obviously unacceptable , so I need to change Default System Type directory in preferences.
And of course I want to have different domain directories for DESIGN A and DESIGN B.
So when I open design A then I changed   Default System Type directory  let's say to x:\AAA.   Then i close design A and open Design B and change Default System Type directory to x:\BBB
I checked folders AAA and BBB and they  have necessary XML files there:  defaultdomains.xml, defaultRFDBSSites and so on....
    Now questions:
can I rename defaultdomains.xls to something else like AAAdomains.xls?  Domain administration can edit any domain file with any name , but how  can I associate certain domain file with my design?  My wish , when I open my design , then corresponding domain file will be open automatically.  Is it possible?
If I open 2 designs in Sql Modeler and switch between designs  then corresponding domain files should be changed automatically as well.  Currently   I shouldn't forget to change default System Type directory every time when I switch models.  Is it the only way to handle it?
    Thanks
    vitaliy

    Hi Vitaliy,
    We use version 3.1.3
I recommend always to use the latest version. If you don't want to use beta (DM 4.0 EA is out) you can use DM 3.3.
Otherwise Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler supports two types of domains:
    1) DM installation domains - those in file defaultdomains.xml
    2) Design level domains - they are stored in design directories and are visible to particular design only. They can be created in following ways:
2.1 Manually - there is a property "Domains file" and you id it's not set "defaultdomains" domain will become design level domain and will be stored in file with provided name (without .xml extension)
You can change later the file for design level domains, however you cannot change file for domain already in defaultdomains.xml.
2.2 Using types to domains wizard you can generate design level domains
2.3 Design level domains are created during import of  DDL files (controlled in preferences)
2.4 You can import domains from specific file with domains using "File>Import>Domains" - you need to rename the source file if it's named defaultdomains.xml otherwise you'll get domains as installation domains
If the list with domains is too long you can define  a list with preferred domains (or/and logical types) in "Preferences>Data Modeler>Model" and you can use shorter list in Table/Entity dialog if check "Preferred" check box next to "Type:" combo box.
If I open 2 designs in Sql Modeler and switch between designs  then corresponding domain files should be changed automatically as well
If you open 2 designs in one instance of DM they will use the same file with default domains i.e. you'll lose domains in one of design depending of setting for "system data type directory". You need to go with design level domains.

  • Import Manager Usage : Approaches for developing Import file structure and text validations

    Hi Experts,
We are having 50+ import maps. We have provided option to users to drop the files for data import. Currently Import Manager(7.1 Sp08) does not have capability of pre-import validation of file data such as
    a. file structure - number of columns specific to import map
    b. file text validations - special characters, empty lines, empty cells
    c. Uniqueness of the records in the file
For this, we are planning to build temporary folder(port specific) in which user drops in the file. We use the custom development to do above mentioned validations and then move the files to actual import ports.
Please let us know if you have worked on similar requirements and how you have fulfilled such requirements.
    Regards,
    Ganga

    Hi Ganga,
Assuming you have a well defined xsd and are getting valid xmls from source in the Inbound Port of MDM. Also, you have a Primary key in form of External ID (say).
So just by making and defining a XSD you get most of what you want in your questions a and b.
Now if you wish to use PI to drop files in the inbound port then you can build all the validations in PI itself and you would not need Staging table.
Otherwise, you can have another table (preferably Main table) in the same repository or other dummy repository where records are created on import based on External ID.
Here you can launch an MDM workflow on import of these records and run assignments to replace unwanted characters and Validations to give error for rejecting some records based on the data quality level desired.Once unwanted characters are removed and data is validated it can be syndicated using a syndication step in the Workflow. So records which fail are not sent and which pass are sent to a outbound port.
From the outbound port PI or some other job can pick the file from this outbound folder and drop to Inbound folder of the same repository which imports to the required Primary Main table. Here again you have the option to leverage validations in PI and further check if data is fine.
Once this activity is done you can delete the records from the staging table.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • SQL/Developer & Resource Usage.

A quick comparison with Toad on XP.
Both software connected to same database running a blank sql window.
    Toad = 30MB
    SQL/Developer =60MB
Usage of SQL/Developer see memory usage rocket to 180MB.
Shutdown of SQL/Developer closes down the process but the PC still runs slow and requires a reboot.
Nice product but what's the deal guys ?

    It's the insight stuff.
You shold turn off sql insight as documented here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/project_raptor/ea6_relnotes.html.
    <snip>
We now have a command line way to turn off code insight. This is very useful for users who access larger databases. To disable Code insight, startup SQL Developer from the command line using:
    On Windows: sqldeveloper -J-Dsdev.insight=false
On Linux or Mac: Run sh sqldeveloper -J-Dsdev.insight=false
or edit sqldeveloper.conf and add "AddVMOption -J-Dsdev.insight=false".

  • Coldfusion developer edition for production ?

    Hi
I need to daily generate a pdf file from a database and make
some small file manipulations and Coldfusion is the perfect
solution for me as it would take me very little time to make
something usable as I write all my web apps with Coldfusion on many
    other servers.
My question is that the server that will generate the PDF
does not need to be accessed by http neither does it should be
accessed on the internet... so the developer edition (free) seems
perfect for me... but can I do that as it is a "production server"
and a "production usage" not a "developer one" waiting to be
transfered on a production server ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Phil:
Isn't it the DevNet edition the only one that puts watermarks
on PDFs via the meta tag (<meta name="ColdFusionMXEdition"
content="ColdFusion DevNet Edition - Not for Production Use.">)
because it's a development version but has no IP restrictions?
I might have misread obouillaud's post but thought he
mentioned having the (standard) developer edition. I didn't think
that one watermarked PDFs because it restricts access to 2 IP
addresses (localhot/127.0.0.1 and two others), which would, I
think, make it unusable even in a widespread intranet environment.
Not sure exactly which developer edition was referred to in
the above post but just wanted to note this just in case.
    Cheers,
    Craig

  • Bug - SQL Developer 3.0.04 SVN Merge

    Hello.
I've found a bug when trying to merge files.
The problem occurred when there is a conflict on file content and an update on properties.
The SVN plugin prepares merge (diff) files but the GUI shows that the file is MERGED instead of CONFLICTED, and there is no way to enter the resolve conflicts on that file.
    Example log from SVN:
    --- Merging r19952 through r20348 into D:/test_sqlDev_svn/us10591/sql/AAA.sql
    CG D:/test_sqlDev_svn/us10591/sql/AAA.sql
C -There is a conflict on file content
G - Properties were merged successfully without conflicts
If there is a conflict during merge but properties of file have not changed then everything works fine.
Can you please fix this bug as it causes the usage of SQL Developer SVN features unusable our my environment.
    Kind Regards

  • Usage reporting

i need to get at usage information for my afcs app.  i need to know how much bandwidth was used in a room for audio/video streaming through FMS, as well as total connection times, so that i can bill the users accordingly.
i've looked through the server integration API and i don't see any functions for querying usage.  as far as i know, i can't write SSAS on the FMS side either.
i'd like to be able to get usage information right down to the user level if possible, even though i allow guests (and auto promote) into the app.  is there any way for me to query the afcs service to get this information?

Currently we are not exposing any reporting API but yours is a very valid request. We are collecting all the info at the room level (that you can see in usage stats in Developer Portal) but not all the info at the user level (and as you mention it will be hard to get valid data for guest users).
We are also working on server to server API and hooks so that you will be able to monitor in real time (we'll "POST" events to a server that you specify) room activity (and from there you can at least get room connection time for each user)
So, unfortunately currently there is nothing available that you can use (apart from "screen scraping" Developer Portal or analyzing the billing emails you should be receiving) but there are things coming.
What is the timeframe your are looking at for implementing your reporting ?

  • Development environment set up

    Hi,
I just want to set up a development environment for ISA and was going through the Dev and Extension Guide. I have the following questions that I need help with:
    a) What version of Developer workplace is required? Can I use the latest or have to stick with 2004s only for ISA development? I see there are two more later versions NW 7.0  SR3 Developer Workplace and NW 7.0 EHP1 SR1 Developer Workplace.
    b) Do I need to have NWDI? I only intend to make changes on my laptop and test it. The server version will remain AS-IS.
    Any inputs are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Thanks for you answers. I am trying to install the developer workplace on Windows 7 (64 bit OS) with SQL server 2008.
    I get the following error
Running msiexec failed with return code 1603: Fatal error during installation.
    Commandline was msiexec.exe /norestart /L sapmmcX86u.log /i sapmmcX86u.msi /qn
I check some sdn posts on this error but the solutions refer to updating MSI installer on Windows XP. no solution to windows 7
    Any ideas...?

  • Questions for Senior Project

    Hey guys,
For my senior project, I chose Programming in Java. However, my school requires that I interview 5 people on the topic, and let's face it, it can be hard to find programmers to interview in person.
However, I also have the option to do an "Email Interview"..Granted, this is not exactly email, but I believe it's the most direct way of trying to find people to interview.
So, the requirements state a minimum of five interviews...If anyone would be willing to spare a few minutes and answer the five questions below, it will be greatly appreciated.
A Little About You, The Programmer...
Question 1: How many years of experience do you have with programming in Java?
Question 2: How many hours a week do you program in Java?
Question 3: What is the biggest self-completed program you have coded, and if possible, include a brief description?
    Now To The Questoins...
Question 4: What concept of programming in Java would you say is most important when programming?
Question 5: What online reference do you find yourself using most often when a Java related question surfaces?
Question 6: What graphics package would you recommend when working with 2D game programming?
Question 7: When saving information into files, what forms of encryption do you believe should be in place to prevent an outside source from viewing the sensitive information?
Question 8: Is there any way, in your opinion, to reduce overhead caused by implementing the SWING package into your program?
That's it. Please post your answers by replying to this or emailing [email protected] . Thank you in advance.
    Mike

Question 1: How many years of experience do you have
with programming in Java?Hmm.. Think it's been 6 or 7 years. Since it came out.
Question 2: How many hours a week do you program in
Java?Whenever time permits inbetween meetings, and preparing documents. I would suppose about 10 to 15 hours a week would be a good week.
Question 3: What is the biggest self-completed program
you have coded, and if possible, include a brief
description?Developed a Web Based e-Learning System for about 10K students, and 100+ lecturers of a University in 1997 using Servlet API 0.9, JDBC 1.0, and Java 1.1. Hehe.. J2EE was not available then, so had to develop the entire middleware from ground up. (P.S. Anyone still remember Jigsaw from W3C ??)
    Now To The Questoins...
Question 4: What concept of programming in Java would
you say is most important when programming?Proper design, and employ the proper usage of patterns.
Question 5: What online reference do you find yourself
using most often when a Java related question
    surfaces?JavaDocs.
Question 6: What graphics package would you recommend
when working with 2D game programming? Not really much of a game programmer, and dun really do much front end coding. But whenever the need arises, Swing and JSPs are most likely it
Question 7: When saving information into files, what
forms of encryption do you believe should be in place
to prevent an outside source from viewing the
sensitive information?I dun usually save my information into files. Usually into the Database. But when there is a need, PGP.
Question 8: Is there any way, in your opinion, to
reduce overhead caused by implementing the SWING
package into your program?Hmm.. It is ultimately design. As crackers said, most IDEs use Swing (or SWT in the case of Eclipse). I think IDEA did a great job with IntelliJ. I am not much of a UI programmer, so can't help you out much here.
That's it. Please post your answers by replying to
this or emailing [email protected] . Thank you
    in advance.

  • Faulty Line - No Phone service for over 4 weeks.

    Hi,
I've had NO phone or broadband for over 4 weeks and no useful information as to when this will be fixed.
I'm hoping someone could provide me with and alternative contact number to the 0800 800 151/0330 123 4151 one, where I can speak to someone who is willing to actually help me and not just quote the false information that has been presented to them.
I reported my fault on Friday 12th December 2014 and the online fault details page still shows an estimated repair date of Wednesday 17th December 2014.
Being reported on a Friday it wasn't until the Monday 15th that an engineer turned up, spent all day investigating the fault to say that it was a network fault but that the engineers needed to get into a manhole in the middle of the street and this would require traffic lights and someone who be in touch with an update.
No update received so I called and was told it took 5 days to arrange traffic management so engineers would be dealing 23rd/24th December.
Needless to say the deadline passed no engineers no phone. Next call on the 29th told engineers would be dealing 31st December or 2nd January. Seems to be a pattern developing here.
Called again, told traffice management was still to be sorted (thought this only took 5 days, what were the engineers doing 23rd/24th December or 31st December or 2nd January??????). Told engineers would be dealing 9th January.
Surprise, surprise no engineers no fix one falsehood after another.
Used chat this time only to be told "don't know why you were told engineers would be dealing on the 9th January, traffic management is still to be arranged.
But I was told this would only take 5 days back on the 16th December??????
Conversations just go round and round with no one willing to take owership of this fault and get it resolved.#
To add further insult both the engineer who visited back on the 16th December and at least one of the numerous people I have spoken to on the phone had said that there are several household impacted by this fault.
Knowing that I would have expected a bit more urgency.
Mobile service is poor at my home location and I have elderly parents who need to be able to contact me and my land line is essential for this. Hotspots are very weak and I'm lucky if I can connect for a few minutes at a time, and if other household members want to connect at the same time then there is no chance.
    Very disappointing.

Only people on forum that can help are the forum mods who are BT employees. They will post a contact us link.
After completing the email NOT PM then you join a queue of other customers waiting for mod help. The mods will get back to you in 3/5 working days either by phone or email

  • Change Management and Test Workbench for documentation

    Hi,
I would like some clarification on the association between change requests and test workbench.
I'm going through scenarios such as creating a maintenance project, creating a task list and service message and then creating a transport request.
During these steps, I want to document the test results prior to migrating these transports into the production system.
My questions are - how do you link the maintenance project and also urgent corrections to a test procedure and documentation. It appears that by using solar01/solar02 and stwb_2/stwb_work, these tests are linked to a project and not necessarily a "change request"
I greatly appreciate if you can elaborate the association between the various areas a bit clearer for me.
    Thanks!!!

You need to look for information on usage type "DI", "Development Infrastructure" or "NWDI" (all common abbreviations for the same thing).  There were some very good presentations on NWDI at TechEd this year.

  • PI Control Error Between Process Variable and Set Point

I've developed a PI program that uses measurements from a pressure transducer as the process variable to control air pressure released from a motorized valve. The program works great at lower pressures, but as the set point pressure increases the error between the process variable and set point increases. I've tried several things....adjusting the P seems to initially increase the overshoot but the process variable always settles down below the set point....tried adjusting the EGU min and max values but no real pattern develops with this. It appears as the process variable get closer to the max EGU value of 70000 pascals the error increases.
I've attached three screen shots showing the process variable curve and setpoint value. The graph of interest is the one in the upper right hand corner.
Any recommendation or advice would be appreciated.

    Kyle,
First off....I appreciate your comments. No...there is no value is system represented as U16.
Actually errors start to develop quite a bit before the maximum. If you look at the mid pressure.jpg file you'll notice that the set point (~28125 Pascals) and process variable (~25625 Pascals) are roughly off by about 2500 Pascals. Then if you look at the high pressure.jpg file you'll notice that the set point (~53000 Pascals) and process variable (~45500 Pascals) are roughly off by about 7500 Pascals. Therefore it appears as the setpoint pressure increases towards maximum the error tends to increase.
I was curious about something....the set point value I'm inputting into the PID.VI , shown in the high pressure.jpg file, is from EGU to percent.VI. It would look exactly like the EGU to percent VI feeding the process variable input of the PID.VI with the set point value feeding the EGU to percent.VI input. Would I be better off feeding the actual set point value to the PID.VI input instead of percentage?
    Thanks, Terry

  • View Column info not displaying in Columns Tab

Running XP SP2 and SQL Developer 1.5.1 5440
When looking at views that are using tables from another schema. I don't see any of the columns information. I have DBA role
In rel 1.1.2.25 2579 I see them just fine. (Both loaded on machine right now)
Is this a bug or do I have a setting problem?

    Barry,
As a "disclaimer", the points below are based on my usage of SQL Developer and things that bug me about how it works or doesn't work - I know that there are more important things to fix than a number of these.
On to the basics ... and the most basic of the basics for a tool like SQL Developer:
    1) Problems with data dictionary queries in navigator or object tabs:
    - Triggers not listed in Table tab if trigger owned by different schema to table owner
    - Index columns not listed in Table tab if index owned by different schema to table owner
    - View columns not listed in View tab if view owned by different schema to current user
    - Dependencies not listed in Table/View tab if other object owned by different schema to object owner
    - Performance of Table Node (outer join added in 1.5.1)
    - there are a lot of other posts about the supplied data dictionary queries not producing the right results and I often find that I am querying the data dictionary directly in a SQL Worksheet for information that should be correct in the navigator/object tabs
Basic things that I expect to work in a tool like SQL Developer (or to work given that they have been included):
    1) Popup Describe problems
    - schema name is case sensitive, so doesn't find owner.object
    - synonym overrides schema name (OWNER.OBJECT will describe local OBJECT synonym instead of OWNER's object)
    - position based object name selection includes punctuation
    2) Bind variables that work properly in PL/SQL (both Execute Statement and Run Script)
    3) Package decomposition in object navigator doesn't report variables or constants of custom types and lists object.column%type constants as "constant"
    4) Exporting query results re-executes query to display Export dialog - this presents as SQL Developer freezing after selecting the Export menu option for queries that take a long time for first record to appear
I would use SQL Developer more (or more of SQL Developer) if:
    1) More integrated file based development - I still do the bulk of my object creation (largely PL/SQL and views) editing in Wordpad and running via SQL*Plus largely because I get better error reporting.
    - display the compile message tab when using the compile button for a file
    - show errors doesn't work for views
    2) Running Reports hang SQL Developer - I still have my SQL scripts for my common queries, which I can run through SQL Worksheet in a much friendlier fashion (I can cancel them and they don't hang SQL Dev) than I can run reports
Problems that detract from the "polish" of SQL Developer, but don't really have a big impact on usage but discourage me from trying to "convert" non-techie TOAD using colleagues:
    1) Multiple TNSNAMES files read - generates multiple entries
    2) Export of long string literals causes ORA-972 error
    3) "Statement Processed" feedback is extremely sensitive to spaces ("create Statement Processed" where two spaces between the create and view keywords) and assumes simple statements ("create unique Statement Processed" or "create or replace force Statement Processed" as examples)
I think that makes 10 basics to fix (although some as just issues that make the tool look unpolished), however, it does seem as though testing in the following areas could be significantly better:
    1) Regression testing - a number of bugs seem to crop up again after being fixed in earlier versions
    2) Navigator/object tab queries - especially with multi-schema applications (ie Oracle eBusiness Suite) and just generally objects owned by other schemas
    3) Performance with large DBs in terms of object count (ie Oracle eBusiness Suite)
As a final note, it is my impression that SQL Developer development has been unbalanced in focusing too much on including new functionality (which is good) and not enough on getting existing functionality right (which is better).
I hope this helps (and wasn't too long) ...
