USB 2.0 high speed card won't run Canon MP800 printer

I have a Power Mac G4 AGP graphics. I installed OS X 10.4.4 on it. I purchased a new Canon PIXMA MP800 multi-function- printer. It needed a USB 2.0 high-speed connection. I purchased an Allegro USB 2.0 high-speed adapter card and installed it in my empty PCI slot. Here's my problem: When I connected the Canon printer, it would not print or scan.....it just went through the motion of sending, but not completing the task. I called Canon to trouble shoot the problem. I connected the Canon printer to my native USB 1.1 port and it worked fine. I then, removed my PCI card and reinstalled it, to be sure that it was seated correctly in. The Canon still would not work. So I plugged my old HP 1200C printer(USB 1.1) into the USB 2.0 port and my printer did work, but at the USB 1.1 speed. I contacted Sonnet Technology on the Allegro USB 2.0 PCI card and they said to try a utility called Cocktail or Tiger Cleaner to try and fix the problem. I downloaded Coctail and ran it to see if this would work. It didn't fix my problem. Any suggestions?

what type of USB 2.0 PCI card did you put in? have a look at the card and find out what chip is on it and let me know. I put one in mine that has the VIA VT6212L chip in it and it doesn't work either, despite OS X having native drivers for USB 2.0 cards.
The USB ports on my card didn't work at all until I installed a driver that I got from VIA. Even then though only 1.1 devices work while the 2.0 devices are not even recognised.
From what I hear, adaptec brand USB 2.0 PCI cards are what you want to get in future, plug them in and off they go (wish I'd done my homework). No messing around with drivers that support only half your new hardwares features.......of course its the other half that you actually need.
I've spent hours reading through all sorts of info and scanning forums everywhere to try to find a fix, I understand why you're a little woozie. A possible fix that people seem to keep suggesting is to zap your PRAM (restart holding command-option-P-R keys, don't release the keys until after the 3rd chime), didn't help me and I doubt it'll help you but at least when people tell you to try it you can say you've done it.

    I'm trying to interface the national instruments PCI-CAN2 (high-speed CAN) to the texas instruments TMS320LF2407 CAN module. How can I make the two CAN modules communicate(c Lang)? Also the TMS320LF2407 DSP does not support the RTDX interface so the dsp toolkit will not be useful in my app since I'm not allowed to use memo i/o to monitor. What do I need to do in the code composer environement to communicate back and forth with the can on dsp board (any example code or docs in c will be appreciated)

    I am not familiar with your TI CAN module but I can help you with the configuration of the National Instruments PCI-CAN Card. A helpful reference is the PCI-CAN user manual located here:

    You first need to physically wire the two devices together as shown in chapter 4. Next, you should use some of the example programs to get you started programming in your desired language.
    The CAN standard will allow you to communicate between your TI module and your PCI-CAN card, but the format of the data is up to the TI module. You might need to send a "remote CAN frame" to get data back, or the TI module might send data continuously. The data that you
    receive will need to be somehow interpretted, and this is where you will need the help of TI.
    Hope this gives you a place to start. Even if you do not have the card at this point in time, you can download the driver and take a look at the API and the example programs by downloading it here:

  • Airport Extreme Card won't run 802.11n

    I have an AirPort Extreme card (0x14E4, 0x90) Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.131.36.1) in a MacMini Intel Core 2 Duo 3,1.
    Using a Billion 7404VNPX wireless router, the card will only run on 802.11g.
    At the same time, I've fitted a 3rd party wireless g/n card to an ancient PowerMac G4, and it runs perfectly happily on 802.11n
    Can someone suggest how to make the card do what it's supposed to do?

    I tried to join ALECKS. I received a Java warning that Google has not fixed a problem that makes Firefox running on Windows unstable when using a Java version = or > 7.0. I don't want to follow the Alex recommendation to use Chrome or Explorer; using the ALECKS path to install a 6.x version of Java didn't work for me. I want to use Firefox as my only browser. If that is not possible re: ALECKS, I will use the Khan Academy in lieu of ALECKS.

  • OSX 10.5.8 won't recognize Canon iP2702 printer

    I just used the installation disc that came with my Canon iP2702 printer to install it on my Macbook w/10.5.8.    Canon says that the printer is compatible with Leopard in all of its literature.
    I installed the driver that is on the disc, with the complete installation package.  I followed the installation instructions to the letter.    The printer was not listed when I tried to print a document.
    Then I went on Canon's site and downloaded the latest version of the driver.  I installed it, but still the printer was not listed when I tried to print.   Nor was it listed when I tried to add a printer.
    I rebooted the computer after the driver installation.   Still nothing.
    Am I missing something?

    Time Warner Cable updated servers. We had to update the DNS address for the MacBook Pro to maintain internet access. After doing this MacBook Pro doesn't recognize the Canon MP800 printer - shows no print drivers for Canon IJ Network , even after reinstalling printer software and downloading print drivers from Canon website - MPNavigator 2.0 keeps saying print driver has not installed. The MacBook is wirelessly networked with the printer and an EMac. We haven't updated the DNS address for the EMac because it still recognizes the printer and prints; however, we now don't have internet access with EMac as a result.

    If printing wirelessly check your printer sharing settings - System Preferences/Sharing
    If printer is connected directly to your computer, check your printer connections, read the troubleshooting section in your printer manual and check the printer manufacturer website for drivers you may need to update.

    I have this printer and it works fine on my MBP. You have to first download the drivers from here:

    When you access that page, click on drivers and software, then scan down the list to the last one, it's the drivers for the Intel Macs and OS X.
    And, then make sure the printer is not connected to your computer,install the drivers, and then after that, connect the printer and it should be recognized. If not you can do it manually.

  • IPod high speed USB

    Everytime I have plugged in my iPod to my computer, a little message comes up that says "high speed device plugged into a non high speed port". The iPod still functions, but it takes longer to load and stuff. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to update my usb port to high speed? I have a pretty new computer, about one and a half years old.

    This means that you are connecting your iPod to a USB 1.1 port. It's not a problem at all... just indicating to you that your iPod is not going to perform as fast as it could, because you don't have it connected to a USB 2.0 port.
    There's no way to upgrade a USB 1.1 port to USB 2.0.
    If your computer doesn't have USB 2.0 ports, then your only options are to buy a new computer with USB 2.0 ports... or find a USB 2.0 PCMCIA adapter that will work with your computer and the iPod. There are a handful of them out there, I just don't remember which ones.

    According to the manual, the largest memory card for your camera is a 512MB SD card. There is one place in the manual that indicates cards up to 2GB have been tested and should work, but be sure the card is labeled SD Card and not SDHC, SDXC, or any other letters after it. I would bet your PNY card is SDHC or SDXC. The higher speed cards will not work at all in the camera. It may be a challenge to find, but they are out there.

  • When I update from 3.0 up, firefox won't run.

    I am running on 3.0 because anything higher than that won't run. Every time I try to run I get the chrome registration error even though all the extensions are disabled. Use to run good until I upgraded to the latest version of firefox.

    When my I-Pod Shuffle is plugged into either of the two USB ports in the back of my computer's modem, my computer states that there is a "High Speed USB Device attached to a non high-speed hub" and that "There are no high-speed USB host controllers installed on this computer". So I take it I'm going to have to buy some sort of high-speed USB device to fit the I-Pod, but I have no earthly idea where I would buy one!

    No - you dont need a high speed port it will work fine with a 1.1 (low speed) port. It will just take a lot longer to load songs on your shuffle.
    As long as it charges (high powered port is needed - you can have high powered port which is low speed) you shoud be OK.
    If you dont like the transfer speed you can probably take out the USB card that you have and replace it with a 2.0 card - a fairly easy and relatively cheap procedure, but if you dont feel comforatble doing it ask a freind who is a bit more tech savvy.

    I've got a couple of SanDisk memory card readers. Nothing shows up on the desktop until a formatted card is inserted in the reader. If it's not formatted, I believe it can be formatted in Disk Utility.

    Looks like the Silicon Image drivers were moved to the incompatible software folder during install/upgrade.
    Downloaded latest drivers, errored out of install claiming that the drivers were from an unknown author!!!
    Emailed their tech support this evening describing problem.

    I have a older laptop. 5 or 6 years old.
    When I plug my ipod into the usb port a message pops up saying that this devise could preform faster, if I had a high speed usb port on my computer.
    Could this be the problem why I cant put songs from itunes onto the ipod?

    You have a different problem. The iPod can work with the slower USB1 ports but data transfer is painfully slow. It seems that your iPod needs to be restored back to factory settings.

Maybe you are looking for
