USB Device is gone Errors

Hello,
do you know how can we suppress USB disk error in /var/adm/messages?:
1) First we had these kind of errors in messages:
Nov 10 02:00:55 server1 scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@0/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/usb@0,2/storage@2/disk@0,0 (sd2):
Our monitoring solution keeps an eye on any warnings on errors in messages file and reports false alarms in this case.
2) Then we tried to suppress this warning by disconnecting USB device:
server1-root:/export/home/root# cfgadm -c disconnect usb2/2
Disconnect the device: /devices/pci@0/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/usb@0,2:2
This operation will suspend activity on the USB device
Continue (yes/no)? yes
server1-root:/export/home/root# cfgadm -al

3) But now it reports another warning in messages log file:
Jan  7 19:38:31 server1 scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@0/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/usb@0,2/storage@2/disk@0,0 (sd2):

What is trying to access USB? Is it USB controller or disk drive which is causing problems? How to completely disable this warning?
Thank you

I don't think it is HW/DVD issue. We have 60+ servers with this problem - the same usb warnings in messages file.

  • "USB Device Not Recognized" error when I connect iPod to my PC

I have a brand new 5th gen (I think) iPod.
I have been able to connect it successfully to my home laptop, download music to it and play it so I know the iPod works per se and the cable is ok too.
Now at work (where tons of my music is) when I connect it to my PC here and I get a "USB Device Not Recognized" error pops up from my taskbar. When I click on the message it pops up a "USB Device Not Recognized" window which displays a list of USB ports, and shows "Unknown Device" for the one where the iPod is connected.
I think its probably USB1.something as opposed to USB2.0 but from what I understand that shouldn't matter.
    Can anyone suggest anything ?
I've tried the 5R's as far as I can, and I read through this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=500559&tstart=15
but there didn't seem to be anything conclusive.
    Thanks for any help,
    Jill

First make sure the latest iTUnes is installed on this work PC, IF your allowed to install things on it, the latest iTunes version is 6.0.4.2 and can be downloaded from the apple site (Hit iPod+iTunes tab at the very top of this web page)
Another thing is what version of windows is the work PC? Is it windows XP Windows 2000 Or windows Me 98? iTunes will only run on XP and 2000

  • Libretto - USB Device Not Recognised error message

    Hi there
I have a workaround for this problem which ocassionally happens. It is just to reconnect the USB hub(as recommended by Windows). I was just wondering if someone knows why this happens and how to fix it. The error is :--
"USB device not recognised. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognise it.
USB Roob Hub (2 ports) - Unused Port, Unknown Device.
Recommendation: try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognise it, replace the device. "
I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Kind regards
    Julia.

    Hello Julia
It is always advantageous to mention which model you have exactly. Obviously the external device is not recognized correctly. Check if there is some driver that must be installed before you can use it properly.

  • B500 USB Device not recognized error at startup + sound issue Dissapointed

    Hello,
    We have 2 B500,
whenever i start them, after windows load they are giving me an error, "USB device not recognized" I am not sure what to do any help will be greatly appreciated as this is strange that both the machines are giving the same error,
also on one of the machines the sound does not come work, i have tried to trouble shoot, the diagnosis says speakers are working fine, but sound does not come out at all.
I am kind of dissapointed with these issues, we always use to buy from Dell but we thought we would give Lenovo a chance, the machines were barely a couple of months old when the issue started,
    any advice please?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well being that it is the same PC as the other I am sure the speakers are plugged into the correct spot. Have you checked the speakers with other devices to make sure the speaker is fine? Since the other PC's drivers are working, you can use DRIVERMAX to pull the sound driver from the good PC and also use DRIVERMAX to install the driver you pulled from the good one. Just uninstall the sound drivers from the bad PC first before installing the new driver.

  • USB device not recognised error message

HI, I have read some similar messages but not been able to sort mine out. The computer has just started throwing up the error message today - all has worked fine for last 2 weeks since I got computer. Same message in all of the usb ports (6) also when I plug in the ipod in its Istation - so it is not the lead. If I connect an old 1.1 hub and connect the ipod through that it is recognised and itunes opens normally.
I have a 2.0 hub , but when I plug that in I get the same error message in all the ports.
Ipod is working normally and is fully charged. Normally it is kept in the Istation, however as I have been downloading podcasts and transferring them over the last few days it has been sitting on my desk. Thanks
    JoyBee
    pentium 4   Windows XP   160gig hd, 1gig mem, 6 usb 2.0

Unfortunately there has been an unpleasant change in the situation.
The battery was starting to get low so I put it into the Istation and switched on. After a few minutes the ipod started to make a strange noise and a brownish colour spread across the screen. I switched off and took it out but it is now dead as a dodo.
    eek!
i must say, i admire your restraint in your choice of language to describe this development.
sorry to hear about this. hope you have better luck with the replacement.
just a thought. if you're interested in purchasing "secondhand" again, it might be worth checking through the "refurbished" options here at the Store. those come with warranties.
i can never get links to the Store to work properly. (Niel, if you see this and you've got the time, would you mind trying to build one to the "refurbished" area for JoyBee?) but if you click on the "Store" tab, and scroll down to the bottom of the page you should see (to the left, under "Special Deals") a link to "Apple Refurbished". scroll down a bit on that page to see the iPod options.
    love, b

  • USB Device Not Recognized issues

I have a Qosmio X505-Q860 and I've been getting the 'USB Device Not Recognized' error constantly for several months. I've never plugged anything into any of my USBs and the error is now causing a nice Blue Screen (which happened about 4 times yesterday within 1 hour). I've tried uninstalling the problem USB hub but it keeps telling me that it failed to uninstall (I'm on my administrator account when doing this). How in the world do I get rid of this so my computer stops crashing and driving me crazy!?
Edit: I should also mention that everything is up to date (I check often and checked just now).
"A stopped clock is still right twice a day."

I suggest trying another USB cable. If you are positive that your cable is not the issue then try resetting the iPod and booting into disk mode (Hold menu+select down until Apple logo appears. Then hold menu+play/pause down and the iPod will go into disk mode, see if the computer recognizes it then. If that works then their is either a software issue on the computer or a firmware issue. Worth trying to restore but backup all your iPod's files first!

  • USB devices all of a sudden no longer recognized in windows 7

    Hi,
I am using a HP Pavilion Simline s5550nl edition with windows 7 home premium (64-bit) since 1.5 years. Never had any problems until 3 days ago. Since 3 days suddenly some new devices, already plugged-in devices and previously used devices are no longer recognized (USB-device not recognized-error after plug-in).
I used an USB-mouse, USB-keyboard, Smartcard-reader, Sony Story 1.5TB External HDD, USB WebCam. They al worked fine.
3 Days ago I bought a WD Elements 2 TB External HDD. After plugging in, it was not recognized at first. Replugging it in it was recognized, but trying to open the drive in Explorer, it gave a not-formatted-error (while the disk should have been pre-formatted for Windows 7). However, i tried to format the disk, but it could not reach it any more. After rebooting the system the WD elements HDD gave the USB-device-not-recognized-error, using all other USB-ports didn't change that. In fact my Sony External HDD was no longer reachable either. Unplugging and replugging it in gave the same USB-device-not-recognized-error. Trying previously flawless working USB-devices all gave the same USB-device-not-recognized-errors (USB-flash disk 4GB, External HDD 2.5inch 160GB, USB-/card reader HUB, iPhone).
I then tried to connect my Sony and WD external HDD on my other computer with windows XP SP3. They were recognized within seconds and working fine (also the WD elements External HDD indeed turned out to be pre-formatted).
Strangely enough my USB-mouse, USB-keyboard and smartcard-reader kept being recognized at plug-in. Furthermore, my printers (connected over LAN) and NAS (connected over LAN) were usable without any problem. I did not encounter any other problems in functionality of windows. I then thought it might be a corrupted general USB-driver for mass-storage or something, so I started to google this problem. Things I have done so far (before each step I unplugged all USB-devices, rebooted and reconnected the devices):
    - Turning computer off, unplug power-cable for 2 minutes, reboot.
    - Updating BIOS to version 6.04 (was running version 6.02).
    - Uninstalling all USB-devices/mainhubs etc in devicemanagement, automatic reinstallation at restart.
    - Try installing newer USB-drivers for mainhubs, messages the installed drivers are already the latest.
    - Uninstalling all 'hidden' USB-devices.
    - Trying to go back to configuration of 1 day ago (maximum i could go back), resulted in an error that  the file might be corrupted.
    - Turning computer off, unplug power-cable overnight, reboot.
    - Running HP-systemdiagnostics: all passed.
    - Running Norman anti-virus scan (latest update): no infection.
    - Again uninstalling all USB-devices/mainhubs etc, automatic reinstallation at restart.
I also noticed that during the night before this malfunction appeared (so actually several hours), on january 20th, an automated microsoft critical update was installed (some anti-spyware definition update). I am now thinking it might still be a driver-problem of some sort of general USB-mass storage driver or due to this microsoft update or maybe some clever virus.
I no ordered a Recovery disk (never had to use one, so did not jet own one), to recover windows and if that doesn't help reinstall it. However I hope that anyone can bring up a solution that I am overlooking?
    D. Berks

OK, meanwhile I found that only uninstalling the USB2-driver enables the USB-ports again. Uninstalling it makes al devices recognizable, whil reintsalling it immediately makes all USB-devices unrecognizable.
I tried updating the driver to the latest version, deleting it (after reboot an automated reinstall is triggered), but nothing helps. As if soething that stays in the system makes USB2 to corrupt USB-channeling or something.
I strongly believe that it has something to do with the windows-update, but I can nowhere as a question about it to microsoft (will cost 70 euro's!).
Does anybody knows what this could be? Or better: knows of a solution?
    Tanks,

  • Running Windows 7 via Bootcamp - USB Device Not recognized.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit via Bootcamp on my MacBook Pro (2012 non-retina display). USB devices are not being recognized within Windows 7 (USB Device Not Recognized error).
I have done some research and tried a few possible solutions but nothing has worked so far. Here is what I have tried:
    - Uninstalling all USB drivers within windows and then restarting to let Windows re-install the drivers.
    - Uninstalling Intel 3.0 USB Host Contoller and restarting Windows.
    - Repairing the drivers using Bootcamp setup.
    - Uninstalling bootcamp and re-installing bootcamp services.
The USB drives are working fine within OS X, just having issues in Windows.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

3.0 is on your OS X DVD. Clearly spelled out in the guide in Boot Camp Assistant, and here -
www.apple.com/support/bootcamp : manuals, look for 10.6 pdf version.
3.0 is pre-requisite for any other
OS X comes with Boot Camp Assistant and you access 3.0 drivers while in Windows.

  • 6610, dku-5, usb device not recognised

    Hi...
Have a 6610 and Windows XP (SP 3) and need to save all my data... so trying to use PC Suite. Bought a DKU-5 cable:
    1. Installed driver from the accompany DKU-5 CD and installed suite... when asked, connected cable and phone. Not recognised
    2. Uninstalled all the above, including registry settings
    3. Installed latest downloaded driver from the Nokia website. Connected cable and phone to PC. Not recognised - sometimes the system just stays quiet, and sometimes i get an error message that the device has failed or not been recognised
    4. Tried running PC Suite from the original CD... doesn't find the phone
    Grateful for any suggestions?
    TIA

    Hi aspergerguy...
First, thanks for the response and sorry for the delay in replying... but have been trying out various routes.
    1. Your suggestion does not even come up in the interface options i get...
    2. Have also bought a CA-42 cable and tried that.
    3. Have downloaded the latest drivers from the Nokia site and the latest PC Suite...
    4. Have aggressively uninstalled by removing even registry entries
    5. Have tried installing and rebooting in various configurations
Nothing works. The CA-42 cable goes as far as saying "New hardware detected" but then gives the "USB device not recognised" error. Just doesn't seem to recognise the driver.
Regarding the COM port suggestion... if i go through the Nokia Connection Manager and click the DKW-5/CA-42 options which are listed under Serial cables, alli get is a COM1 option...
    Any other ideas?
    Cheers...

  • Re: "USB device not recognized." "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again." Tungsten E2

Have had my Tungsten E2 for 3 years...I always use cable to Hotsync, and the last few weeks it has worked only intermittently. Either the device is not recognized, or it starts the HotSync and then freezes.  I have checked out various online suggestions but then discovered that the only thing that seems to  work is to exit Hot Sync Manager, then restart it again each time - then Hot Sync seems to work fine - a temporary solution! I don't have Bluetooth capabilities.  I can't figure out if I need a new cable, a new OS (have Vista), a new laptop (only 2 years old) or a new Palm!  Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • USB Device not recognized Blackberry Classic

I'm trying to connect my new blackberry classic to PC using USB cable. The PC is a laptop with windows 7 64bit. I tried all USB ports available on PC and I tried to install it on another PC with Windows XP. In both PC i get USB Device not recognized error and Blackberry Link cannot connect to smartphone. I need to connect in order to move all contacts from old blackberry to new blackberry. The BB software versions are the following:
    - Link version 1.2.4.27
    - Blackberry device manager 8.0.0.55
    - bbDevMgr 4.2.0.52
    -Drive USB RIM 4.2.0.32
    - Serial Usb RIM Driver 2.3.0.11
Previously i had installed Blackberry desktop software for OS 7. Before installing the new version, in the last trial i uninstall all software from RIM and cleaned manually the registry.
From what i can understand, there is perhaps a problem with 32/64 bit system driver.
Without a solution to move the contacts and messages from old BB I will change the phone to another version/supplier. I spent already more than 1 day trying to do this...
    Thanks for the support

I have Windows Mobile 6.0 on my Treo 750, Windows Mobile Device Center on my laptop (Vista OS), and Outlook 2003. When sync is established there is no problem with Outlook 2003, but there is a problem with recognizing Treo by my laptop. Also (probably) there is a problem with the connection cord (I have to move slightly USB couple of times inside a port in term to start connection)… It’s a minor but annoying problem.

Under Part 9. Verify that USB drivers are installed, did you try the steps in If only "Unknown Device" appears?  That appears to be your situation.
Also, you said that the shuffle initially worked well enough to do a sync, then it had the same problem again.  If you can get it to work again initially, before doing anything else, try the following.  Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.  By default, the checkbox for Enable disk use should be unchecked.  If so, check it and Apply the change.  See if that makes any difference.
(If Enable disk use was already checked, try unchecking it and Apply the change.  Basically, set it the "other way" and see if there is any improvement.)
NOTE:  When disk use is enabled, you have to eject the iPod in iTunes before disconnecting it physically.
If the disk use change makes a difference, that may provide a clue about the actual cause.

  • USB CD Drive reporting "Device is gone"

Folks, I am attempting to use an IBM USB CD Drive (USB 2.0) on a SunFire V215, and I keep getting error messages "Device is gone". According to some documentation I found, it was said that the device is fully supported on Solaris 10 but needs a patch for 9 and lower.

This is NOT resolved.  The "Upper..."Key in the registry editor doesn't exist as you can see below in the image I am providing.  This is still an OUTSTANDING issue, can someone please help with resolving this issue, super frustrating.
This is not just an iPAD issue, I get the same problem with my iPhone as well, both (iPhone and iPad) have the latest iOS 6.1.3 installed as well.
