Use of JTAPI in Caller ID

Hello all, I'm doing a Computer Science degree, and my topic for this semester's programing project is Caller ID Management. I'm supposed to implement a call-logging software in Java, and JTAPI seems like a ready solution, but the problem is, I'm not quite sure how to use it, and my lecturers are clueless. I was told to use a caller ID-enabled 56K modem for my project, and I'm lost.
I've been doing some research on how caller ID works from phone to phone, and I've read how it works, from what meagre sources I can find on the net - emphasis here on the ASCII format for the CND message, and the format of the protocol used.
My questions are as follows:
1) Will I be able to use JTAPI for my project? I know it's written on the JTAPI page that it can be used for call-logging, but I'm going mad trying to finish going through all the specifications provided on this site, and I'm still not even sure which package I should be looking at.
2) If the caller ID is going to be from phone to pc, do I have to be directly worried about the protocol, and the format & content of the received data messages, or will the JTAPI methods deal with that internally?
Unrelated request:
If anyone has any good sites or documents on implementing Caller ID (preferably as detailed as possible), I'd be grateful if you helped me out abit. I've only managed to find two pages of something helpful: most of the info on Caller ID is too superfluous to be of any help.
Thanks for your help! :)

Hi
When I was trying to compile Outcall and Incall sample code from sun website I found this error:
"Can't get Provider: javax.telephony.JtapiPeerUnavailableException: JtapiPeer: DefaultJtapiPeer could not be instantiated."
If you can give me a sample code that you know it will work or you know any changes needed to this sample code plz say to me, I would be glad that you give me a code that you are sure about that because I am new in JTAPI

  • Is there a CUCM API which can be used to see what calls are in progress?

    Hello All,
    I am trying to build a basic monitoring application which will display a list of calls in progress along with endpoint information such as IP address etc
    Is there a CUCM API which can be used to see what calls are in progress?
    Thanks
    Matt

    Matt,
    It looks like another person had a similar question before, see the following thread:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/9697836/can-use-axl-or-other-api-get-calls-progress
    Also, according to the comments seen on that post, I was able to find the JTAPI developers guide, see more information below:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/jtapi_dev/8_6_1/jtapidevguide/overview.html
    If this still does not satisfy your question then, the best you can do is post this inquiry on the Cisco Developer Network on the following link:

    Hope this information helps,

  • Jabber for Window, phone mode, how to disable "use my computer for calls"

    We have a Citrix environment and only want to control the Cisco deskphone with Jabber for Windows in the phone mode.
    We use CUCM 8.6.2 and I have installed Jabber for Windows 9.7.0 and all works fine, I can control my deskphone, make and receive calls, phonebook and Outlook integration works fine.
    Is it possible to disable "use my computer for calls" as we do not want users to make calls via Citrix, but only use the deskphone for this.
    Thanks, Perry

    Hi Matthias,
    Soft-phone mode cannot be disabled. Supported Features on Virtual Environment are the following.
    Supported Features
        Instant messaging and presence with other Cisco Jabber clients
        Desk phone control
        Voicemail
        Presence integration with Microsoft Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013
    We have an existing defect which is in Terminated state because feature is not supported hence cannot be fixed.

  • Unable to select 'Use Phone for audio calls' on Cisco Jabber Client 9.6 for Windows

    Hi,
    I have recently deployed Cisco Presence Server and integrated with Call Manager 9.1.2. I have successfully deplyed 6700 users on IM & Presence. Some of the users requested for Cisco Jabber with phone control.
    I have added CFS client on the Call Manager and associated it with the same extension numbers from their desk phones. I am currently able to make audio and video calls for these specific users. I am currently using Cisco Jabber Client 9.6 for windows. I have users both daisy chained to their desk phones and who are not. Can you please confirm if it does make any difference.
    Problem Faced -
    I am not able to use to option use phone for audio calls. The phone comes down with a cross sign on it. At the same time Cisco Jabber by default uses the client and it works as expected.
    Can you please let me know if any of you guys have faced a similar issue.
    Please let me know if you need any information regading the configuration used.
    Looking forward for your valuable comments.
    Thank you.

    Hi Will,
    I am attaching the screen shot for the END USER on CUCM 9.X that has been configured on Cisco Jabber.
    Please do let me know if you need any further information.

    They can share an Apple ID, but each device must use a different email address when setting up FaceTime.  Create a gmail email (or hotmail, or ...) address and use that on one of the devices when you setup FaceTime.
    You don't actually have to use the 'new' email address, it is probably just used as an index to reference the correct device when initiating a call via the FaceTime server.

I've restored the phone using iTunes on my laptop and checked all the volumes are turned up and the button at the left hand Side of the phone is in the correct position.

    Try inserting and re-inserting your headphones 7 or 8 times. Also try cleaning out the headphone jack in case of debris that might be interfering with the connection/disconnection.

  • I use a web site called ACRIS- up until yesterday I could access all parts of the site, including calling up images of deeds. Now I can no longer get the images via firefox, but can them via windows explorer. Why? How do I fix this?

    I use a web site called ACRIS- it allows me to access NYC Finance dept records- specifically images of deeds. Up until yesterday I had no problem. Then without any apparent reason I could access all parts of the site, but could not access the deed images. First I thought it was a problem on their end, which sometimes happens, but after waiting 24 hours I was still having the problem. Then I tried windows explorer and it worked without any problem. How do I fix this?

    Hi jeffbeal,
    First question I would ask is what has changed recently? Did you add any new extensions or add-ons?
    I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
    Hopefully this helps!

And when my friends call me my iPhone didn't show anything even the missed call I'm only know that I missed the call from messages from carrier. Please check these problem I restored my iPhone for 4 time now in this week. I lived in Hatyai, Songkhla,Thailand and many people in my city have this problem.
    Who have this problem??

    Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

    you have used a method that was implemented in JRE1.2 -- IE's native JVM 1.1.4 or 1.1.5 . You can do one of two things:
    1) convert your html file to make it use a new Java plug-in, or
    2) change your code to call a comparble method that is available before 1.2

  • Use 'default' keyword in call string while calling stored proc?

    I am calling following sql server stored procedure from java code using my jdbc driver for sql server: CREATE PROCEDURE test_findTbInfo (
    @paramIn_Str varchar(10),
    @paramOut_Int int OUT,
    @paramIn_Int int = 20
    AS
    begin
    set @paramOut_Int = @paramIn_Int * 100
    end
    If I make a call like this:
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall(" { call test_findTbInfo(? , , ? ) }");
    cs.setString(1, "test_tab");
    cs.setInt(2, 4);
    cs.execute();
    It works without any error. But this is not a right behavior. !! The second parameter as you see is passed like an optional parameter. But in stored proc it is NOT an optional param and so if the value not passed it should fail...
    Now if I change the code to
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall(" { call test_findTbInfo(? , default, ? ) }");
    it works correctly. Gives error that "Procedure 'test_findTbInfo' expects parameter '@paramOut_Int', which was not supplied." which is correct.
    So is it a normal practice to use 'default' keyword while calling sql server stored procedures having optional parameters in jdbc ????
    Anyone knows ??? As far as I know "call test_findTbInfo(? , , ? )" works fine except in some cases and also it forces users to put all optional parameters at the end of parameter list in stored proc.
    Please let me know whether I should go with 'default' throuout for sql server stored proc while calling using my jdbc driver.
    Amit

    {?= call <procedure-name>[<arg1>,<arg2>, ...]}The question mark in the above is the result parameter
    that must be registered.
    That is not the same as an OUT argument.Yes that is true. The result value and OUT parameters are different but they both MUST be registered as per jdbc API
    "The type of all OUT parameters must be registered prior to executing the stored procedure; their values are retrieved after execution via the get methods provided here."
    Anyway, my original question still stays as it was. If there are some optional IN parameters in stored procedure
    e.g.
    PROCEDURE test_findTbInfo (
    @paramIn_Int int = 20,
    @paramOut_Int int OUT
    how do you call this?
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall(" { call test_findTbInfo( , ? ) }");
    cs.registerOutParameter(1, Types.INTEGER);
    cs.execute();
    or
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall(" { call test_findTbInfo(default, ? ) }");
    Also note that I am intending to use ONLY sql server driver for this.
    The first as well second seem to work. Except that second way is seems reliable. I just wanted a second opinion on that...

    what is the use of bdcmsgcall,
    if any erroe occur in the legacy records how to rectify it?
    In what situation we can go for lsmw.
    Kindly explain the situation's for using  ale , bapi ,session ,call transation, direct input.

    Hi ashok,
    chk this.
    the functionality of both idoc and bapi are same.
    the main difference in BAPI is it is used for Third party application like JAVA, VB etc.
    and IDOC is used transfer data from the SAP to sap or non-sap system.
    For details refer the contents below
    ALE
    ALE is SAP proprietary technology that enables data communications between two or more SAP R/3 systems and/or R/3 and external systems. When a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution such as R/3 is implemented, companies have to interface the ERP system with legacy systems or other ERP systems.
    ALE provides intelligent mechanisms where by clients can achieve integration as well as distribution of applications and data.
    ALE technology facilitates rapid application prototyping and application interface development, thus reducing implementation time.
    The ALE components are inherently integrated with SAP applications and are robust, leading to a highly reliable system.
    ALE comes with application distribution/integration scenarios as well as a set of tools, programs, data definitions, and methodologies that you can easily configure to get an interface up and running.
    BAPI
    BAPIs provide a stable, standardized method for third-party applications and components to integrate into the Business Framework. These interfaces are being specified as part of SAP's initiative with customers, partners and leading standards organizations. Also, SAP has implemented the emerging Object Application Group (OAG) specifications with BAPIs.
    Session method.
    1) synchronous processing.
    2) can tranfer large amount of data.
    3) processing is slower.
    4) error log is created
    5) data is not updated until session is processed.
    Call transaction.
    1) asynchronous processing
    2) can transfer small amount of data
    3) processing is faster.
    4) errors need to be handled explicitly
    5) data is updated automatically
    Session method is to populate the data by filling BDC structure
    and keep as session to process from SM37 to post in appropriate Transaction.
    Call transaction method is to post the data directly into the Transaction from an Executable program.
    Session method SAP defined Function modules.
