Use of Planning Calender

Hi gurus,
I want to understand the use of Planning Calender. I want to know what will happen if i use the Counter as 2 and give the day as Monday. Please give me an example so that i can understand the use of Planning Calender. And also on the Procurement Proposals getting created based on Planning calender.

Hi,.
Planning calendar (MARC-MRPPP) in combination with lot size PK works in MRP calculation date, but not in ATP.
Example: today is 1/15/09 (Thur), my calendar is configured to have deliveries on Tues, Planned delivery time is 6, GR time is 1. MRP will calculate the following date:
1/15 + 6 = 1/21 (Wed). It would then increase the date to the next Tues (1/27)
1/27 + 1 = 1/28 - this is the result for the requisition date.
If I enter a sales order (ATP check to use RLT) and there is not available inventory, I get confirmed date 1/22! The system takes today 1/15 + 6 + 1 = 1/22. But this is 6 days before MRP can confirm it!
Menu path: Production -> MRP -> Master Data -> Planning Calendar (MD25)
You will then need to use this planning calendar (the one you created) in the material master when planning your raw materials (MRP2 View in 4.6C - Field name : Planning Calendar).
1. When you maintain the planning calendar you will need to enter a valid from date and valid to date.
2. Your periods will also need to be set up and they will be weekly, for example:
From Date : 11/23/2009   To Date : 11/29/2009   (11/23 is a Monday, this is your from date).
Do this for as may weeks as you wish (say weekly for 2 years).
3. When you have set up the planning calendar, you will then need to make some changes to the weekly lot size configuration
(WB), or you may need to create a new lot size key if you do not want to change 'WB'. Essentially, you will need to use the
following in the lot size configuration (OMI4) :
    No. of Periods : 1
    LotSizeProced.: P
    LotSize ind : K
    Scheduling : 1

  • Planning calender: Delivery 2 times per per week

    Hello,
we got an arrangement with one of our vendors. When we order on Monday, Tuesday they will deliver on Friday the same week. Wenn we order on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the will deliver on the next Tuesday.
I tried to solve this by using a planning calender for Tuesday and Friday. The calender works fine. But please see the following table and the problem. You can see that i can not reach the expected delivery days exactly.
Order                                                   Monday   Tuesday   Wednesday   Thursday   Friday
expected delivery day                          Friday      Friday       Tuesday        Tuesday    Tuesday
Delivery with 1 day delivery time         Friday      Friday       Tuesday        Tuesday    next Friday
Delivery with 0 days delivery time       Friday      Friday       Friday            Tuesday    Tuesday
Anybody an idea to reach the expected delivery days?
One solution could be to change automatically via batch the planned delivery time, two times a week.
    Thanks for your response.

i do not now how this should solve my problem. Can you please add more information?
I add some periods from my planning calender. There are two types of periods:

2: start at friday and end at Monday

  • Linking of planning calender to vendor master record

    Hi All,
Could you please let me know how I can determine a particular date of a week as the delivery date (Monday to Friday) by  the vendor and plant combination.
    That means
A purchase order created on 30 September for material X plant YYYY and vendor V1 has a receipt date of Friday 10 October.
As the fixed receipt date is Thursday, the actual delivery should occur on Thursday 16 October.
This receipt date based on fixed weekday must be the one computed by MRP calculation and appears on MD04 stock requirement list as actual receipt date.
(I have got how to make it for the plant, that is by giving the Planning cycle in the MRP2 view and for that we have to select time phased planning that is R1 in MRP type field in the MRP1 view.) I have also seen in the vendor master alternative data for a particular plant I can give the Delivery cycle and planning cycle but they don't determine according to vendor plant combination when I do MRP run in MD03 and see the PR s created.
Please let me if you need further explanation
Brownie points are waiting for helpful answers!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Kishore,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I have one question in my mind. If we have to determine the delivery date according to a particular vendor then we are maintaining the planning calender and delivery calender in  the vendor sub range, and we are also maintaing the vendor in the source list for that plant and material and making the vendor as MRP relevant, then
Is there any need to give planning cycle in the MM record,as now we are not utilizing the material master record planning calender, instead of that we are using vendor subrange planning cycle and delivery cycle.( I tried to run MD03,after removing the planning calender in the MM record and I got the error "Error determining planning periods for calender")
More over what is the difference between the planning cycle field and delivery cycle field in the VM record?
Please let me know as  this is a requirement from the client which we need to map ?
I am using MRP type PD and lot sizing as PK(period lot size for planning calender)

  • The delivery date for the PR needs to consider planning Calender Periods

    Hi Friends,
Please help me in solving in my scenario given below:
The Planning calender periods are from Monday through Thursday(No Friday and weekends). When there is a Purchase Requisition (PR) planned date on Monday and the GR processing time is one day. The delivery date should be on the before Thursday (Becasue there is no period on Friday).
But, the delivery date is being created with the before Friday, which shouldn't happen.(Requirement is that Delivery date shouldn't consider that friday, hence, the delivery date needs to be on Thursday).
NOTE: The lot size settings are Lot sizing Procedure : P(Period lot sizing procedure), Lot-size indicator: K (Period lot size as in Planning Calender), Scheduling : 1 (Period Start = Delivery date).
Thanks for helping me in advance,
    Surendra Chakka

    Hi Santosh,
Thanks for your Questions. Below are the explainations:
    1. Can you expalin how your system is behaving at the moment?
    A. Presently the GR Processing time is 1 day for a material in Plant. So, if the user wants to produce on Wednesday (Planned date in PR, provided by the MRP run), then the delivery should be on Tuesday (Because GR processing time is 1 day). In  the same way, he dont wants the delivery to be on Friday. I mean, if he wants to produce on Monday,  he wants the delivery to be on Thursday.
Only Friday, he don't wants to make the Delivery.(The delivery date should not show Friday in PR's).
    2. Pls explain your original MRP view and planning calendor setting...
    A. For solving of the above issue, we changed the Lot size to copy of "PK" - Period lot size acc to planniong calendar. Then we maintained the Planning calendar, in which the periods are for every Monday, tuesday, wednesday and thursday. Expecting, the delivery  should be excluded for friday, the friday in the planning calendar is not given as a period.
The scheduling paramter in the Lotsize is tried with both the options (period start = Deliery date and period end = Delivery date).
Later removed "PD" in MRP type and tried with "R1" Time phase req. But, the precondition for this is to maintain "Forecast req". This is also done. But, then, the system for this material is not responding to the MRP run. It is asking to run the forecast model. We ar not using SOP.
    3. The results thst you get with current setting?
    A. For the planned date in PR of Monday, the delivery date in PR is on the day before monday. i.e., Friday (Saturday and sundays are holidays).
    4. Expected results...?
    A. For the planned date in PR of Monday, the delivery date in PR should be Thursday (the day before monday production).
Hope, i am clear in my explaination. Please revert back, if you need any more information.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Planning calender for BTO

    Hi,
While using Planning calender, it works for TAN related orders,.i.e Delivery dates are determined correctly in PR/PO.
But when we use TAB related orders planning calender does not work, delivery dates are not determined correctly.
Is there any config/ master data change so as to include BTO also?

  • Planning calender

    Hello all
I want to receipt a material every tuesday,so i use MD25 to setup a planning calender, also use lot-size PK and select the calender
    i just setup.
But when i use md03 and md04 to display the result of MRP run,it cannot follow my planning.
Why?can anyboby gave me some advice?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi Vikas,
You are creating planning calendar which works only to create MRP lot size during MRP. It is nothing to do with factory calendar.
If you want to have diffrent calendar for production then create the second one from SCAL for 5 days and assign this to work centers in capacity tabs. Then this calendar will be taken for capacity planning only..not during the MRP. MRP will take the 6 days celandar during planning which is asigned to plant by MM.
    If any clarifications then revert.

  • Query tunning in Oracle using Explain Plan

Adding to my below question: I have now modified the query and the path shownby 'Explain plan' has reduced. The 'Time' column of plan_table is also showing much lesser value. However, some people are suggesting me to consider the time required by the query to execute on Toad. Will it be practical? Please help!!
Hi, I am using Oracle 11g. I need to optimize a Select query(Need to minimize the execution time). I need to know how 'Explain Plan' would help me. I know how to use Explain Plan command. I refer Plan_table table to see the details of the plan. Please guide me regarding which columns of the Plan_table should be considered while modifying the query for optimization. Some people say, 'Time' column should be considered, some say 'Bytes' etc. Some suggest on minimizing the full table scans, while some people say that I should minimize the total no. operations (less no. of rows should be displayed in Plan_table). As per an experienced friend of mine, full table scans should be reduced (for e.g. if there are 5 full table scans in the plan, then try to reduce them to less than 5. ). However, if I consider any full table scan operation in the plan_table, its shows value of 'time' column as only 1 which is very very less. Does this mean the full scan is actually taking very less time?? If yes, then this means full table scans are very fast in my case and no need to work on them. Some articles suggest that plan shown by 'Explain Plan' command is not necessarily followed while executing the query. So what should I look for then? How should I optimize the query and how will I come to know that it's optimized?? Please help!!...

  • Using patch plans for 12.1.0.2 target oracle home fails with 'PREREQ_MESG: Unable to get the version of OPatch'

We are attempting to use patch plan to apply PSU and one-offs to a new 12.1.0.2 database oracle home.  Our EM version is 12.1.0.4.
We are experiencing the same issue described in ''Bug 20271609 : Unable to get the version of OPatch".   This bug is closed as 'duplicate bug to filer' but we do not appear to have visibility into what patch/bug fixes the issue.
Description from the above mentioned bug is our same issue.  We do not have this issue when we use patch plans against an 11.2.x oracle_home target.  It is unique to 12.1.0.2 oracle_home target.
    Description from the bug:
The Plan failed in step "Run Prerequisite Checks" with the following errors:
    PREREQ_NAME: Minimum Version of OPatch
PREREQ_DESC: Check if the required version of OPatch is present on the target
    PREREQ_TYPE: PATCH_TOOL_CHECK
    PREREQ_STATUS: FAILED
PREREQ_MESG: Unable to get the version of OPatch at
    /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/dbhome_2/Opatch
We have opened an SR to see if we can get more info on what was already identified as a bug.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  If so, can you share any patches or workarounds (other than manually applying patches) that you found useful?
    Thanks.

You'll probably get the same info from Support, but the workaround is to use the Patch Database (however that doesn't work if there's no DB target associated to that home).   If you were trying to do patchign out of place (clone home, patch, then move db's), EM can do this for you.   If you're just installing a new DB Home and trying to patch, then i don' think there's another workaround.  The base bug is marked fixed though, so a backport for the 12.1.0.6 plugin should be available very soon.  I would ask the support analyst to request the backport for your plugin/patch level...

  • Use of planning file entries

    hi pp gurus
can any one explain me what is the use of planning file entries
one moree problem when i converting existing planning file entries
into new file entries. system gives the resullt converted planning file entries-0
    so why it is happening
    regards
    Balu

    Hello Balu,
System creates planning file entries automatically when the change take place for the materials if there is no change then there will no creation of planning file entry.
If you are running the background the also above logic will apply. Do some changes in stock or in material master then check the planning file entries.
Background job is recommend to run if sometimes systems will not create planning file enty eventhough there was a change. Otherwise there will be no creation of planning file entry if no change.
Please rewards your points if helpful

  • Use of Planning File Entry

    Hi,
what is the use of planning file entry and when it will be generated?
    - Ram.

    Hi Ram,
Planning file extry will be created or executed by system to
the objects (location products) which undergo planning run.
ie Whenever a location product undergoes demand or supply
relevant changes, during planning run for system to plan, a
planning file entry will be marked by system which will be
    used as basis for planning.
This will be used in cases where network heuristics kind of
    runs will be executed

  • Using explain plan

    Hi,
I am quite new to use explain plan in oracle.
I want to know what are the important factors that we should emphasize to optimize a SQL query.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dilip

If I had to identify key SQL tuning factors to look for in relation to an explain plan I would say that number one is to verify that the plan is driving on the right tables in the proper order.
Second looking at the SQL make sure it is not written in such a manner as to disable the use of available indexes such as when a trunc is done on an indexed date column so it can be compared equal to another date when a >= date value of midnight and < midnight of first day not desired could be used instead enabling use of the index on the date column by the optimizer. Implicit conversions of join column data types can also disable use of an index.
Third, if the CBO is doing something other than what you expected do not just assume it is wrong. Try to figure out why it is doing what it is doing and then try to determine if it is right or wrong. I have caught people trying to tune SQL because they knew the plan was wrong, but did not actually test it before spending a lot of time to develop a different path that ran slower than the optimzer plan.
