Use of  RRKMULTIPROVHINT in multiprovider

Hi All,
Could you explain me what is the use of the above table?
I was reading a document named "How to create efficient multiprovider queries". It says
In the RRKMULTIPROVHINT table, you can specify the MultiProvider and a
characteristic for partitioning and if a query has restrictions on this characteristic, the, OLAP processor will check which InfoCubes can return data for the query. The data, manager can then completely ignore the remaining InfoCubes. This is handled by the OLAP processor.
What I would like to know in our office we have one multi provider where data comes 3 basic infocubes( say 1 cube has asia data,2 nd one europe, 3rd one africa data). How can I use this table so that when user selects example  Asia content (variable created for continent), it should use corresponding infocube only?
Thanks in advance

  • Use of infoobject in multiprovider

    HI Gurus,
What is the use of infoobject in multiprovider. I created a multiprovider which has one infocube and one infoboject. ZCOMP_CO is the master data and created as a datatarget. In infocube, ZCOMP_CO is in the dimension.
    1. I assigned the ZCOMP_CO to infocube and excuted the multiprovider.
    2. I assigned the ZCOMP_CO to both infocube and infoobject and excuted the multiprovider. Both the result for 1 and 2 are same.
So , what is the use of assigning the infoobject in multiprovider. And how the multiprovider will extract the data.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Multiprovider with InfoCube and InfoObject: You have an InfoCube with your products and sales. You combine this InfoCube with the 0MATERIAL InfoObject. This allows you to display any "slow-moving items", since products that do not result in sales are also displayed.

    Hi Shriya,
Note 911939 describes a way by using the table RRKMULTIPROVHINT, where I can map a characteristic for partitioning to a multicube.
Note 629541 shows a way by defining structure-specific properties for an infocube, where I can set constant values for a charakteristic during the design phase of a infocube. This is a very static way and allows no changes, when the cube contains data.

  • Use of 0REFPER in multiprovider reporting with virtual provider in BCS

    Hi all,
We're using the multiprovider reporting option in BCS 6.0 / BI7.
As you may know the data in the 'closed periods' provider is populated with closed requests, which need not necessarily be for individual periods (this is different to BCS 4/BW3.5)
As far as I understand from my discussion with the BI team, in the 'closed periods' provider each reference period is populated with ALL data for the year (so a January record appears in 0refper = 01,2008 and also 0refper = 02,2008, whereas a February record only appears in 0refper = 02,2008).
Reporting on a specific reference period will provide data relevant to the hierarchies effective at that reference period.
BUT when the virtual provider is taken in to account for March, surely the reference period is now 03,2008 - so how will the multiprovider choose any records from the 'closed periods' cube?
What I'm not sure about is how the BI report should be structured in terms of 0REFPER selection to ensure that the relevant closed period data is selected alongside the virtual provider data.
I haven't found anything in the help documentation, or the SDN forum - has anyone found a useful source of guidance from SAP?
If not, has anyone got experence of this?
(of course, points will be provided for all useful answers).

    Thanks Dan,
I would caution about the use of 0refper for the multiprovider scenario.
Have you used the multiprovider scenario? There is good documentation from SAP on how to set it up but nothing on how the queries/reports should be built. When BCS generates the multiprovider and virtual provider, it adds in 0refper (and the others)
It is my understanding that the closed-period records are stored with cons group as opposed to those of the virtual infoprovider where cons group is only included for posting levels 02, 12, 22 and 30.
+ Thus if the organization/cons groups are changed, it could cause reporting issues unless the closed-period infoprovider is repopulated using the new or changed cons groups.+This was my understanding too, but the BI team are telling me it is NOT required in BCS 6 / BI7.
I will investigate further an post my analysis back here.
In the meantime if anyone else has experience of the multiprovider scenario reporting, espcially in BCS 6 / BI7. Then please do post your experiences here.

  • Use of Dimensions in Multiprovider?

    Hi Experts,
Can any one let me know while creating Multiprovider, why we should again select the infoobjects(from sub cubes) in to Dimensions(in MP)?Is it necessary?what are the Pros and Cons of this concept?
    Thanks
    James

    Hi James,
The dimensions have no significance in the multiprovider, since during the query execution the data is fetched from the data targets involved int he multiprovider.
What I normally do is create one dimension for each of the data provider in the multiprovider and include all the characteristic's of that data provider in that dimension. The common chars are included in the first dimension and the next dimensions will have only the chars that are unique to that data provider.
In toto the number of dimensions will be equal to or less than the data providers included in the multiprovider. The query performance will be decided based on the basic cubes dimensions and not based on the dimensions of the multiprovider.
    Assign points if useful

  • Using Table RRKMULTIPROVHINT

    Hi All,
I have a MultiProvider ZMP01 that has the following cubes:
    ZINV2010 '2010 data only
    ZINV2009 '2009 data only
    ZINV2008 '2008 data only
    ZSALES   ' 2008 -2010 data
If I put the following entry in table RRKMULTIPROVHINT
    MULTIPROV = ZMP01
    CHANM        = 0FISCPER
    POSIT           = 1
If a query is restricted to only Fiscal year 2010 will it only read cubes ZINV2010 and ZSALES?
    I appreciate any help.
    Thank you,
    Mark

    Hi Praveen,
That's what i'm thinking but will the query try to read the E or F table to determine if year 2010 is in the cube?  Here is the scenerio:
    Multiprovider MULTIPR1 contains 3 cubes.
    CUBE1 - 2007 Sales Data
    CUBE2 - 2008 Sales Data
    CUBE3 - 2009 - 2010 Sales Data.
    QUERY1 written on MULTIPR1.
If I run QUERY1 for 2009 sales, the query execution will check all 3 cubes to see if 2009 records are stored.  Without having to modify all the queries, I like to be able to restrict the query execution to only read from CUBE3.
Reason:  All three Cubes are stored in BWA.  I like to remove CUBE1 from BWA but still keep in Multiprovider to allow user access.
Dilemma:  If I remove CUBE1 from BWA, the query still tries to read E and F table of CUBE1 to determine if it contains any 2009 sales records.  Since it's been removed from BWA it now has a gross impact to query performance.
Solution:  Add entry in table RRKMULTIPROVHINT for MULTIPR1 for 0FISCPER.
    Question:
    1)  Will the solution work?
    2)  I don't understand how this entry helps without another process/job creating an index that links fiscal year values to to cube names.

  • Incorrect data with Virtual Cube 0FIGL_V10 when used in MultiProvider

    Hi All,
I am using 0FIGL_V10 in a multiprovider with 0FIGL_O02 to solve a reporting requirment.
My problem is that I am unable to get the same revenue figure from the multiprovider as I am from the virtual cube alone.
In the multiprovider query I have filtered my revenue KYF's by:
    value type
    version
    currency type
I have fiscal period across the top of the columns and filtered for example to 001.2009 - 006.2009
This query returns double the revenue value that I get if I run an indentical query on the base cube 0FIGL_V10.
I have found that if i filter fiscal period directly in the KYF restriction it outputs the correct result which is confusing.
    Any ideas ?
    help much appreciated.

    Hi ..
Thanks for the suggestion but this note has already been implemented into our system.
    Any other thoughts ?

  • Multiprovider display data issue

    Hello,
I'm using BI7.0 and created Multiprovider using Custom DSO and Infocube1.
the problem is, when i use display data through multiprovider, I'm not able to see data from DSO .
I have considered all common fields from DSO and Cube and assigned in multiprovider.
basically I'm selecting all IO and Keyfigures from Infocube1 and few IO from DSO
some reason I am not able to see data from DSO when i view data through multi provider.
Please help me to view data from both cube and dso through multi provider.
    Thanks
    Ganga

    Hi Ganga,
Please check whether there is any restrictions for the field 0PROVIDER. There may be restriction to get the data only from cube.
If there is no any restrictions then here may be your problem.
You need to maintain atleast one key figure in both targets.
Since there is no any key fig coming from DSO
please create a dummy key fig and try to check once again.
    please go through the link.

  • Question about the dimensions of a multiprovider

    Hi all,
I need to create a multiprovider based on 2 infocubes. They have 22 dimensions altogether, without taking the default ones in account.
I'm able to group 6 dimensions into 2 because they have characteristics in common, but after this action there will still be 16 dimensions.
My question is: is there any problem in putting unrelated dimensions together? Would there be some problem related to the multiprovider design?
    Thanks and regards,
    Tiago.

    HI,
This mainly depends on the reporting requirements you have. If you want to do better on the reporting performance since the requirement is on the two cube with more number of characteristics. While design the cube take only those char which are useful for reporting. Group the char in dimension as per the reportign requirements like the two char collectively used in a query can be used in one dimension.

  • Function Module to Read Multiprovider data

    Hi experts,
I need to write abap code to extract multiprovider data, into an internal table. I need function module which suits the above requirement. Pleaselet me know if any function module is available.
    Thanx in advance.

    Hi,
I think you can make use of BAPIs, coz Multiprovider does not store physical data, therefore no tables with data are available to access. BAPIs will provide you standard way to access multiprovider data.

  • Query based on Multiprovider as Datasource

    Hii,
I am trying to use query , based on MultiProvider(1cube,2DSO) , as datasource. I want to save the query output in a target . But in the DTP only data from one of these infoprovider is fetched to the target.Where as the query output shows data from all three infoprovider correctly.
    Please help on this.
    Thanks,
    Dillip.

    Hi Dillip,
i have a suggestion on this, once you design a report on the multiprovider you just run in portal from there you can download this output to excel........................

  • An infoset in a Multiprovider affects system performance ?

    Dear One´s,
I have an info object 0COORDER which is used in the infoset and multiprovider. If the same infoset which holds this info object is used in the multiprovider, then does it affects any performance ?
    Thanks for your concern,
    Raj

    Hi Raja,
It does not make any difference in the performance using an infoset in multiprovider. Its all depend on the join condition which you are using in the infoset which fetches the data.

    Hi,
Try activating multiprovider and underlying infocubes, using following programs.
    Multiprovider: RSDG_MPRO_ACTIVATE
    Infocube: RSDG_CUBE_ACTIVATE
    DSO: RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE
    InfoObject: RSDG_IBOJ_ACTIVATE
Then try to run the query, alternately you can use transaction RSRT.
