User account, loosing data on logout, expired??

We are having issues with our Mac video system. Mobile users are losing work upon logging out as theinformation is not syncing backup to the server. The user is the 'brierv' account. Errors in the log shown below.
They seem to indicate expired accounts, but the accounts can logon fine and I have no knowledge of us setting any expiry on user accounts.
Can anyone please shed somelight on this?

How are you restoring? You probably need to do a full restore, as per #14 on the [Time Machine FAQ|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1964018]. If that won't work, you may want to try repairing the Time Machine backup drive with Disk Utility.
Also, note that having only one backup is only slightly better than having no backups at all, especially if you don't periodically check the integrity of your backups. I always recommend having +at least+ two backups made with two different backup programs.

User account is not accessible for login, but remains in Users folder. Can it be re-activated?

My 18 mo old grandson hit a few keys on my wife's mid 2010 MbPro while she was logged in and eliminated her user login from the startup/login screen. I used resetpassword utility to reset p/w for System Administrator to access the machine and the user folder is intact. (The account also does not appear in the resetpassword pulldown list of users.) I have copied all of the folders except Library in her original account into a newly created account. Is there a procedure to (1) re-activate/re-access her original account, or (2) migrate her original Library information/settings to the new account?

I need a logout script that will erase the standard user account data after logout.

I have a lab of 35 Macbook Pros and I am trying to make it where when the user logouts, it will erase the data after they logout.
I have found several articles about deleting user accounts when they login through AD, but this is not the case.
Any help would be much help!

I'd look at the Mac KB system to see if you can restrict saving to the local HDD but yet allow saving to a thumb drive or not.
To do what you want the system would need to keep track of all files saved from time X to time Y, and those times would be every changing. Not sure you are going to get there from here.
Not sure what you mean by Lab machines. I've worked in and gone to school at a Graphic art school and they have hundreds of Lab Mac's that each student must log into with there own user account when in different classes and when saving any of there work it gets saved on the server so it can be retrieved by them when they log into another system someplace else throughout the school or when using their own computer and connected to the schools network.

We are trying to upgradfe one of our ECC system to EHP4. We created a system in the solution manager. However, it had some problems and we tried to delete it. During deletion, we are receiving an ABAP dump as "CALL_FUNCTION_REMOTE_ERROR". Detailed dump mentioned the error as :-

Thanks for the update. I checked and found 3 communication users to have expired. I increased their expiry date to 31.12.9999.
However, now when i tried to perform the deletion action, I am receiving a different dump as

Expire/Suspend User account using chpass

I have a need to expire/suspend certain user accounts on a specific date. So basically when I setup a user account, the account is only good until a certain date. I see that there is a "chpass" command and I have tried that but it does not seem to work. Is there something special that I need to do?
As a test I did a "chpass imts" and the editor came up. I changed the expire date to Dec 1 2006 and saved. I verified in NetInfo that the expire flag had been added to the user account. I then tried a "login" from a terminal and I was allowed to login.
Is there something special that I need to do to get this to work on OS X Tiger "Client"?

I haven't tried setting accounts to expire using 'chpass', but 'pwpolicy' does work, at least in limited tinkering on my system (10.4.8). It adds a 'passwordpolicyoptions' property (it's one of those long multi-line values that look like xml) to the user's entry in "NetInfo". Try 'man pwpolicy' for more details - not all of the options actually work on an OS X client system, but the account expiry ones do.
The 'passwordpolicyoptions' can also be set using "Workgroup Manger.app", included with the "Server Admin Tools" which can be downloaded from Apple, and used to configure OS X client.

Note that "admin" accounts aren't subject to password policies.

User Accounts expires again and again

Hello Everyone. The question is:
When I create a new user account in Portal Builder, and if the user don´t use this account for a 1-2 months, this account expires, i put a end date to 2010 and enable this, but nothing... they expires again and again if the users dont use to much....
How can i resolve this "expire acount problem"

Beginning with Release 9.0.4, the pwdmaxage attributes of the password policies are defaulted to time value of 60 days.
You have to use oidadmin to fix the problem (as documented in the link)

I recently upgraded our family's mac to OS X. I thought this was the perfect time to create and use "user accounts". We had always used 1 main account. So how do I use software or applications with a lot of data like Quicken under my own user account? I wanted to be able to manage my own itunes library, iphone apps, messages. But I still really need to use the Stuff I have in Quicken essentials. I don't want to have to restart all my work done in Quicken already.

I haven't used Quicken in a while, but most applications store your files in your Documents folder. Is that where your Quicken data file is? What you do next depends on how many family members need to get at that data.
If multiple family members need to use the Quicken data file, try moving it to the Documents folder in the Shared account. That is an account that all accounts can see. It's at the same level as the other accounts. In other words, Shared is one level up from your Home account, or Hard Drive/Users/Shared.
If you're the only one allowed to see that Quicken data, move the Quicken data file from the old main account to your account, and don't leave a copy behind. You can use the Shared folder as a way station for the transfer since you won't be able to see both accounts' Documents folders at the same time (because you're not allowed to peek into other people's accounts). Or you can use another disk or server for the transfer, as long as you can get to it when logged into either account.

Hello, when our phones were purchased the wife set up both to her itunes account, We have since set up 2 laptops, and now have setup my own itunes account on that laptop. How do I change the phone account to match, Do I loose data? at the moment there are no apps or music or docs, but I dont want to loose messages, or contacts. We have turned of auto sync on itunes on the laptop. So I need to backup the phone, then do a ios upgrade to the phone as I am on v6.1.3 The wifes is all up to date on her laptop, but mine is so far behind and I am nervous about taking the next step. Do you mean iTunes library?
iTunes account is what you use to make iTunes purcahses.
iTunes library is what is on your computer.

No, it tells you it can only be sync'd with one iTunes library.
Simplest way is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder (thisis the iTunes library) from old computer to new computer.

I have set up a new user account for my son. I have set up his parental controls but I would like him to have access to the data in iPhoto and iTunes from the Admin account. I do allow him access to the applications with the parental controls, but they are empty. Thanks for your help!

Both, but App Store purchases are a clear minority, and aren't much of a problem, due to the ease of re-downloading and activating. The downloaded programs are the ones that present the problems. I have not been good about archiving serial numbers and the like, mostly because I've never had a problem like this before.
What specific apps are you having trouble with? For instance, I know that MS Office and Adobe CS5 for perfectly well for all users on my MBP.

I have another post here in the forum that explains in detail about the rez problem. It was read by a lot of people with no responses. 1 thing that might be important is that I was using a Wacom drawing tablet when this problem started. I removed the Wacom software and no help.
My Apple 23" Cinema display has very large icons but the display prefs says it is at 1920 x 1200. It's not just a low screen rez but the dock and all icons will scroll on the screen when I move the mouse.
The resolution will not change to anything else. The rez is fine on other user names.
I have booted from the Apple DVD and run disk repair, repaired disk permissions. Booted and run Tech Tool.
Booted from the Disk Warrior cd and ran that.
I have zapped the PRAM. I have plugged the display into the other port on the video card.
When I change to the problem user name it is fine for about 1 second and then changes to the "problem". I have never seen this before and I have been using a Mac since 1990.
