User/group names & domain

Hi,
I tried to put a security on a button but when i click on "Add" it gave the following message: "can't get the user/group names for the currently selected domain"
How could iIcreate a domain ?
and how could I create an user/group name ?
Thx,
Samer,

Hi Guys I'll try to answer all your questions
i only want to know, where you press "add" and what you try to do.
When i right click on the control and go to "Security" then click on "Add" i have the message above
What is your application. Where do you want to create a domain?Can you elaborate?
I try to have several accesses to a VI: student, professor, administrator...So i thought of creating domains for security access of each control
Are using LabVIEW DSC?
Yes i am using DSC module...
I think you start with something like Tools >>> DSC >>> Security
What is the difference between Tools >>> DSC >>> Securitys and Tools>>>Decurity ?
Samer,

  • [OIM] Cannot use special character in User Group Name

    Dear IdM expert,
    I have problem creating user group in OIM if user group name contain special character like '&', '<' or '+'.
    I read Note 430081.1 : Can a Field Label in an Object Form Contain Special Characters? and change <AppFirewall><SecurityLevel> in xlconfig.xml to 0, (by default SecurityLevel is set to 1). But still no luck.
    Could anyone find way to do this? Thank you.

    I don't think the app fire wall applies to recon events so that is probably how they got in.
    You may have to update the database tables directly to solve this. Should not be a big issue as you aren't messing with any table primary keys.

  • How can I remove default auth source prefix that's prepended to user/group name

    Any ideas how I can remove the default auth source prefix that's prepended to user/group name after import? There's a way to do it without going into to config.xml file as we did in admin class but can't remember what was done.
    Thanks

    If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
    You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
    You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

  • How to get Current User Group NAME

    I am using the com.sun.security.auth.module.NTSystem to obtain information on the current user logged into the NT System. This class gives me the user name, all the group SIDs associated with the current user and also the current user's primary group SID.
    But I am not able to retrieve the group Name based on these SIDs.
    Please tell me how to find out the Group Name such as "Workgroup" etc. instead of Group SID.
    This is very urgent. So please help me.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    I'm having the same problem.
    If you found a solution could you post it here.

  • User Logon Name domain list

    We are in the process of turning on DirSync and later ADFS. I've been on the phone with MS and have a question. After running DirSync the program was changing our user logon names because our actual internal/local domain was not verified within the Azure/Office
    365 systems. So, I'm looking into different options as to how to fix this.
    Quick description of our domain.
    Server 2008 R2 native Empty root with all everything in the child domain. So company.domain.com. With all users and everything being in the company domain. This is actually a different name then our email domain which we'll say is email.com.
    The domain we have verified in the Office 365 environment is email.com. While we have registered domain.com on the public internet we have no records defined. Everything external is in the email.com public domain.
    In troubleshooting our dirsync user issue the engineer opened the users property page in AD users and computers. From there he went to the "Account" tab.
    There it showed the User logon name: user1 @company.domain.com with a down arrow. I've looked at the pull down before and I've seen two options... domain.com and company.domain.com... I've always assumed just because these are our two onsite
    local domains that my DC's know about.  Well, he picked the pull down and there were three options... the two internal domains PLUS email.com. I have no idea when that showed up. He mentioned if we set the users
    UPN there to email.com instead of company.domain.com dirsync would work properly... And we tested that and it did.
    My question is what determines this drop down list? And what are the ramifications of changing my internal users to that email.com domain.
    I've tested logging into various PC's on site after I changed a test user to that email.com domain and everything seems to still work fine. I have access to corp data, email... I can't find an issue.
    Can anyone enlighten me with this?
    Sorry for the long description... I hope I've been relatively clear...
    Thanks in advance
    RS

    Respectfully,
    While the original problem described was related to Office 365, my question is 100% Directory Services related and has nothing to do with Office 365. I'm sorry if my post was misleading.
    In Active Directory Users and Computers, in a user objects properties page, under the "Account" tab.  At the very top it shows
    User logon name:
    <<USER LOGON>> a separation and a <<@domain>> box.  With a pull down list populated with what I thought were the domains in the local AD forest.
    My question is what populates or what determines what is listed in this pull down... As stated, I thought it's populated with the Active Directory domains in the local AD forest. But, the pull down in my case has one extra...
    @company.domain.com (default and my primary AD domain)
    @domain.com (my empty root domain in my AD forest)
    @email.com (I have no AD domain for this but it is my primary email domain)
    I thought about this last night and I know Exchange is very integrated into AD... So does Exchange input its primary email domain into this AD pull down list as well? I have Exchange 2010 on site.
    Thanks
    RS

    Hi NeoCK,
    According to your description, you can access your report successfully, but it fail to send e-mail subscription. Right?
    In this scenario, since you can access the report successfully, so this user has permission on report server. Please go to E-mail setting in your Reporting Services Configuration Manager, check if the current user has permission on that SMTP server.
    If this is still not working, please recreate the subscription and try again.

  • Retrieving user detail, group name for all users

    Hi,
    How can I retrieve User name, email, authentication, user group name
    for all users using SDK.
    It is possible to create this report in webi or CR?
    Thank you for reply,
    Gregor

    Use the following code to retrieve this information:
    IInfoObjects users = oInfoStore.query("select * from ci_systemobjects where si_kind='user'");
    for (int i=0; i<users.size(); i++)
             IUser user = (IUser)users.get(i);
             // user.getTitle(); for user name
             // user.getFullName(); for user's full name
             //  user.getEmailAddress(); for user's email address
             //  for authentication type:
             IUserAliases alises = user.getAliases();
             for(int j=0; j<aliases.size();j++)
                       IUserAlias alias = alises.get(j);
                       // alias.getAuthentication() for authentication associated with this alias, since same user can have more than 1 authentication. e.g. Enterprise and Ldap.
             // for user group memberships:
             java.util.Set groups = user.getGroups();
             // the groups Set object will contain SI_ID of all the user groups that this uses is member of. You need to query by the SI_ID of the usergroup to get the group names.
    //  e.g.
    //    oInfoStore.query("select si_id, si_name from ci_systemobjects where si_kind='usergroup' and si_id in (a,b,c....)");
    where a,b,c are the SI_IDs of the usergroups.
    To create a report based on the above fetched data, there are several methods such as:
    you can use Java resultset where in you create the report structure in designer and push the data at runtime using java result set objects. Another way is to push this info in Excel or Access and design your report based on that excel\access.

  • What is the Advantage of creation of user group through SUGR?

    Hello Masters,
    As per audit requirement I have maintained user groups for different sets of users through SUGR, but I am not getting except differenciating users (based on group), is there any other advantage? Can we assign role to a user group instead of assigning to list of users  or can we do any mass changes to an user group by giving only user group name.
    Regards,
    Nilutpal.

    Dear Neels,
    Apart from maintaining user group for Differnciation purpose you can also take the advantage on the following sectors:
    1. Follow the http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ce/17533e5ff4d064e10000000a114084/content.htm link . From this you will come to know the use of user group in the authorisation area.
    2. User Groups also allow segregation of user maintenance, this is especially useful in a large organisation as you can control who your user admin team can maintain - an example would be giving a team leader the authority to change passwords for users in their team.
    3. The authorization user group is used in conjunction with S_USER_GROUP authorization object. It allows to create security management authorization by user group. e.g. you can have a local security administrator only able to manage users in his groups, Help-Desk to reset password for all users except users in group SUPER, etc...
    In case any issue, please feel free to reply.
    Regards,
    Nilutpal.

  • Authenticated Users Group Question

    I have a quick question regarding the Authenticated Users "group". I used to be a systems administrator, but I'm a bit rusty since I've been a software developer for the last 10 years. A conflict with data center operations (DCO) group
    at work lead me to get another opinion.
    The question is this... is the authenticated users group a domain-level group or is there a local authenticated users group that would allow only users authenticated locally? We have a share that permits the authenticated users group access.
    My opinion is that all domain users who have authenticated successfully have access to this share. The DCO group is telling me that this is the local (to the server containing the share of course) authenticated users group only.
    Is there such a thing as a local-only authenticated users group? To me this doesn't even make sense, but I could very well be wrong.

    I apologize. I don't think I explained myself correctly. Let's consider the following...
    SERVER: SERVER1
    DOMAIN: DOMAIN1
    SHARE: \\SERVER1\SHARE1
    SHARE PERMISSIONS: Authenticated Users - Full Control
    Given the above information, is it possible that the Authenticated Users group will allow ONLY users that are defined on SERVER1 to access \\SERVER1\SHARE1?
    My understanding is that's not possible. There's one defined Authenticated Users group and that represents ALL users that are authenticated against DOMAIN1, whether added to local groups, shares, etc.
    What I'm being told however is that SHARE1 having Authenticated Users assigned is okay since only those user accounts defined on SERVER1 will be able to access it. All the users in the domain will NOT be able to access it. I think this is bogus. Am I wrong?

  • To create new user group

    Hi all,
       I want to create a new user group..can u tell me step by step instructions.
    Thanks.

    Hai,
    Here you specify the users who should be authorized to run the query. A user group is always associated with a Functional Area.
    •         Go to the menu path Environment => User Group. Give a user group name in the screen that comes next.
    •         Specify the sap logins of the users whom you want to authorize for using the functional area and click on the Create button.
    •         Use the menu path Assign Functional Area to assign the functional area to the user group.
    •         Save the user group and back out of the screen by clicking the Back button.
    Note: One user group can be assigned to any number of functional areas with logical database or without logical database.
    The final step is to create the actual query.
    I hope this will help you.....

  • LabVIEW 8.0:: How to get the group name of a user logged to a NI Security Domain?

    Hello all,
    I am using LabVIEW 8.0 PDS.
    I created a new local domain called "MyDomain" in the "NI Domain Account Manager" . I added a new User called "MyUser" and a new group called "Maintenance". I set "MyUser" to be a member of the "Maintenance" group. Then, I configured LabVIEW to invoke the login dialog at start-up in order to log "MyUser" with the correct password.
    I would like to get the group name of the current user logged programmatically in a VI. I tried with the VI Server >> Application >> Security properties and methods and also with the properties and methods of the NI Security Class but it seems to be not so simple as I believed at start.
    I do not find any informations or KB on this (all the documents I found deal with LV DSC or TestStand).
     The final goal is to be able to manage a list of user for my application. Each user is a member of a group ("Administrator", "Operator", "Maintenance") and depending on the group, the user can or cannot access to some parts of the application.
    Thanks for your help.

    Re,
    Here is a screenshot of this functions...
    If you really own LV DSC 8.2 the best thing to do is to reinstall it.
