User is unable to retrieve mail, under any circumstances

OK, I'm pretty much tried everything at this point.
I have a user who has had their account open and accessible for years, and they have suddenly had their rights suspended. xServe is the OD Master, and we have had two different OD corruption issues (but they are resolved now). Mail is hosted on an OD Replica (G5 xServe)
SquirrelMail returns the error: "Unknown user or password incorrect." No other mail program will retrieve his e-mail.
User can log into servers, etc. using their OD credentials. SirAdmin, mailbfr, and reconstruct -i have all been run to repair the mail directories, but to no avail. I have set mail forwarding to a new user account (for the time being) so that he can receive all his new mail, but his old mail is AWOL. I have a backup of some of his e-mail, but anything new is still missing
The account was working for years, until we had some OD corruption, and I have a feeling this this account is "frelled". There is a user quota that appears, his mail account does appear in Server Admin, and his user account is still active.
What am I missing? What do I need to do? If this account is gonzo, what can I do to force the mail server to retrieve everything that is in that user account, and have it force-forwarded to a different mail account?

What does mailaccess.log show while trying to access the account (you may need to increase logging level for IMAP to "Information")?
Is the mailbox still present at the file system level (default location would be /var/spool/imap/user/username)?

    It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
    Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started. 
    If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
    name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
    is the instance name you set during install).
    You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
    recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

    I purchased my Iphone 4 outright, without a contract from the Japanese Carrier Softbank.  That means I paid the entire price upfront.  They refuse to unlock the Iphone under any circumstances, despite the fact I am no longer in Japan.
    Can Apple help me?  I've checked out some unlocking services online, but the price seems a bit too high.

    No, Apple cannot help. Only the network to which the phone is locked can unlock it (if they choose to).
    Nobody else can legitimately unlock it. Other services that claim to offer unlocks are hacks, void the warranty and prevent you from updating the phone OS in the future.

  • Unable to retrieve mail from server on my account

    Hi there.
    I am unable since june 26 to retrieve email from the server. I check information on my mail app and i see my mail list store on the server. I also tried to send me an email. But still unable to retrieve it. So i can send email, but enable to get them. I tried to reconstruct the database directly on the server without success.
    OSX server 10.4
    Does someone have an idea of what i could be?

    Not a lot to go on is there? However if you use the GUI or the command line its a good idea to stop the mail service before attempting a Reconstruct. In my experience I don't think its ever worked using the GUI. Perhaps others have had more luck?

    You'll get all previously read mail marked as unread but that's easily dealt with. As already stated it's difficult to give any clear advice as you are keeping things to yourself somewhat. The above link assumes its a standard Mail Service setup using the GUI alone.

    Has anybody had this, I can see new messages on .mac, but mail does not retrieve them. some of them are a few days old and still not coming in. All settings are ok as I just did a test sending from a .mac account and the message was retrieved seconds after in mail.

    I am having the exact same problem. It started to happen after the most recent update to the mail program. I have found if I click on another mail folder and then click back to "inbox" it will usually "find" the messages. Very annoying.

  • My iPod will not turn on under any circumstances...

    I have a Fifth Gen iPod which I have never had one problem with before. For nearly two years, I have been using a specialty iPod adapter in my car that is made for my aftermarket stereo. It also charges my iPod My iPod plugs into it using typical iPod jack, that plugs into the bottom of the iPod.
    So I got in my car this morning, and my stereo tells me that my iPod is disconnected. This happens when my iPod goes into sleep mode. Normally I just press the center button, it comes right back on and the music resumes through my car stereo. This morning I pressed the center button and nothing happened. The Sony Xplod symbol was on my iPod display as always, but it was basically frozen. I tried to reset it (menu plus select) and it eventually turned off, but has not been able to turn back on since.
    I have plugged it up to my two PCs to see if it needed to be charged first but it wont even appear in iTunes. I have no display, no nothing. Wont turn on, reset, boot up, NADA!
    Could it be a battery problem, or did I completely screw up the internals?

    Have you solved this problem. My iPod 5G just did the same thing. The iGo charger I have used with it for a year or so was the only thing that I connected it to yesterday before it went belly up.

  • Unable to SEND mail using Activesync in Exchange 2010 server on iPhone or Windows Mobile 6.1

    Hi All,
    We've been setting up a new SBS 2011 server for a client this week. Everything is working, except the staff have 4 x iPhones to connect with Exchange ActiveSync.
    There are 2 x iPhone 4's and 2 x iPhone 3Gs's. We can setup the Exchange accounts on each of the phones and they are all able to sync mail and calender etc with the server.
    The problem we have is when any of them try to send mail from the phone, it gives an error : "Cannot Send Mail - An error occurred while delivering this message" and it sits in the outbox on the phone.
    The newsgroups and forums are littered with people having issues with IOS4 and Exchange 2010 but most of these are from June-August 2010 when IOS4 version was around 4.00 or 4.01
    A lot of these people had iPhone 3 handsets running with IOS 3.1.3 which worked with Exchange 2010 but when they upgraded to IOS 4, they had this problem sending mail.
    It seems that for most of them, the fix came in the form of IOS version 4.1 which fixed the send issue for them.
    We have a variety of Hansets and IOS versions (including an iPhone 3Gs running IOS 3.1.3) but are unable to send mail from any of them:
    iPhone 3Gs    IOS 3.1.3
    iPhone 3Gs    IOS 4.3.3
    iPhone 4       IOS 4.3.3
    iPhone 4       IOS 4.3.5
    I was surprised that the iPhone 3Gs running 3.1.3 was unable to send either as nearly all the forums etc I read with this issue said the iPhone 3's worked with that IOS version.
    Today we used a test iPhone 4 handset from our office to connect to an almost identical Small Business Server 2011 we setup two weeks ago for another client.
    The test iPhone 4 was able to connect, Sync and Send email on that server but when set it to connect to this SBS 2011 server, it gets the "Cannot Send Mail" message the same as the others. So clearly the handset is working (on the other server at least),
    it must be something misconfigured in this Exchange server right?
    We ran the Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyser on the Exchange server and got green ticks across the board.
    Outlook Web App and Outlook Anywhere both work normally. Everything we can test on the Exchange server works except sending from any iPhone.
    Having said all that, I just setup a Windows Mobile 6.1 handset to sync with the Exchange 2010 server as a test, and it appears to have the same issue.
    It will connect & Sync Mail, Contacts and Calendar but if trying to send an email from the phone, it will just sit in the outbox.
    Does anyone have some insight into what the problem may be?

    Further to this .. I found the solution on a MS Exchange 2010 support forum.
    It was not a certificate or firewall issue, looks as thought the “Accepted Domains” in Exchange Mgmt Console –
    Org Config – Hub Transport cannot have any spaces in the name field.
    I had some spaces and the emails were not downloading fully and able to send. Once I removed the spaces from the Name field and
    restarting the Exchange and IIS services emails were now being sent and received ok.

  • PC Users are unable to check Outlook while my (mac) Mail is open

    Ever since I upgraded to 10.4, whenever I have my Mail application open, the PC users are unable to check their IMAP mail through Outlook. The PC Users and myself are all using different accounts, but are checking the same server.
    At first, this seemed like it was a coincidence... but then I shut my powerbook and they could check their again. I have to use a web mail client to check my email when I am on the network at work.
    Any ideas to resolve this issue? Mail is set to check every 5 minutes.

    AA8 and AA9 allow Reader Rights so the user can save the form. This is restricted by the license to 500 uses. In the long run, the only advantage of the Reader Rights is for your users, not for you. You can always import the data into the form and have the same result as they had in the form. It is not necessary to transmit the full form to you, only the data. If you were developing a web form that would likely exceed the 500 uses, you would have to negotiate a price with Adobe for Reader Rights (thousands of $$ should be expected).
    If saving is important in a company environment, not online, then you may want to read the EULA carefully as to the exceptions. You will still have to have at least AA8.
    I guess the printing problem was answered.

  • I suddenly am unable to retrieve my emails.  I discussed this with my Internet provider, but still get an error message and can't access my emails.  Any suggestions???

    I am unable to retrieve my emails since yesterday.  I called Time Warner Cable, my Internet provider, but they could not help me; they stated that the settings had changed, since they were upgrading.  I adjusted the settings, but still get an error message:

              There may be a problem with the mail server or network.  Verify the settings for account "Mail 1" or try again.
              The server returned the error:  The connection to the server "smtp.roadrunner.com" on port 110 timed out.
    I changed the server, and the port, as Time Warner Cable tech rep recommended, but to no avail.  They recommended I delete my current email account and recreate it, but that I check with Apple first, because I might lose my contact list (and any email messages I'd previously saved!?).  They suggested Apple might be able to tell me how to not lose the contacts, emails, profile.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Each Interface will have it's own settings.

    If using Wifi/Airport...
    Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
    For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

    (There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
    Click OK.

    Just setting up my new mac mini server for first time. It is updated to Mountain Lion. Setup local network user account with account name same as local short names on other macs (same on all of my mcahines). Then used System Prefs> Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.... to add a server account. Used exact same account info as on server (had both open to view).
    Get the message: "unable to retrieve settings for this user"
    Turned of firewalls... still not change.
    Did search for this problem.... no real helpful responses.
    Thought I was following all the basic steps to add a local network user. What am I missing?

    This message gets thrown if no services are enabled that the wizard wants.  Enable calendar, contacts, email, etc and it will connect.  This threw me off until I turned on the contact server for the heck of it and it started working.

    Since I installed the new version of Firefox (4.0) I am unable to retrieve any of the e-mail addresses that are duly indicated in the server's address book.
    In summary, beforehand I could type the 1st letter of an e-mail address and Firefox would remember it and propose it upfront!

    Hi gbman, sorry I missed your reply, I took someone out to a birthday dinner.
    A good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
    Firefox > Preferences > Advanced
    On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
    While viewing a page on the site,
    Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    After clearing the cookies, reload the page and try logging in again. Does that help?
