Using a control as both an indicator and control

Hello,
I have been search and reading for a few hours now and have finally decided to post. I fear I am not using the correct terms because I am fairly new at LabView.
I currently trying to build a user interface that uses 9 different tabs [I am using the same tab structure as in the labview example code]. There is a set of variables that will need to be on 3 of these tabs in similar form. These variables include:
2 boolean controls
1 boolean indicator
1 string indicator
12 numeric indicators
I would like to have all of these values be the same on the separate tabs at the same time.
For example if I press one of the boolean controls, that same boolean control should now be activated on the other tabs as well.
If it would be possible, please do point me in the right direction of how to go about doing this. (Also the proper terminology)

I don't think that it will be a lot of programming. For example: if he has 5 controls and want to keep all of them synchronized, with only one Case of the Event Structure he can do the job, setting the 5 controls to trigger that Case when "Value Change" and use the Event Node "NewVal" to write the same value for all controls (including the control that triggered the event, but with a code this size it will not be a big deal to write the information a again to the same control).

Is there anyway I can use an array (either a constant array or an array control) as both an indicator and control. I need this to enter and replace numeric values in an array.

As the earlier post stated, try using the local variable to update a
control from the diagram. You probably shouldn't place it inside the
loop, but use a shift register. Thus, take the value from the terminal,
into the left shift register. Inside the loop, take the left shift
register value, modify, and write to the right shift register. Outside
the loop again, wire from the right shift register to the local.
If you do no
t want to allow for user modification of the array control
during this, you can disable and reenable the array using a property node.
If you are not really doing this for UI, but to try and reuse memory,
then this is really the wrong approach. LV wires are really the most
efficient way of dealing with data, and you don't need to worry about
putting things back into an array unless it is for the UI. If it is to
pass out of a subVI, you will put them into a new array indicator in
fact, and when called as a subVI, this can often take no additional
memory, using the caller's array input throughout the diagram. If you
start using the local, this is no longer true, and you now have both
memory and runtime overhead. So use locals, and property nodes, only
for UI tasks, and your VIs will be much more efficient. For everything
else, use wires and shift registers.

HT4759 I want to use icloud mail on both iPhone 4s AND my pc. icloud mail on PC is mega glitchy and frustrating because my PC is ancient, I run XP, & these DO NOT MEET req's for iCloud. Is there a email platform that will run well on both XP and iPhone?

I NEED to use icloud mail on both iPhone 4s AND my PC. I need to use both.
Trying to use icloud mail on PC is mega glitchy (STOP SCRIPT WARNINGS EVERY FEW MINUTES) and frustrating because:
1. my PC is ancient (but nicely refurbished/fast)
2. I run XP (with both Firefox and Chrome- newest versions)
3. thusly, I DO NOT MEET SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS for iCloud.
In my passed attempts I found that
1. Yahoo doesn't work well on iPhone
2. Gmail doesnt work well on iPhone.
I must be missing something... an app or... maybe a donated/ NEW FREE MAC! (That would be sweet! Ha.)
Is there an email platform that will run well on both XP and iPhone?
or... Please say it isn't true: I would love a Mac tablet or desktop. We have no money for a mac. SOL? Is this iCloud apple tech only for wealthy middle class and above who can afford to have the newest and best of everything?

@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!

Having both PC Settings and Control Panel is unnecessary redundancy.

I keep getting into the Windows 8 type of PC Settings. And honestly, the PC settings is really lacking highly in substance. It is also very confusing to have both PC settings and control panel. Why not only use the control panel? It is waaaaaaay way more
polished than the PC settings.
I feel like this is a bad decision.

Agreed. It's completely redundant and should be consolidated to one view. Preferably the control panel view. Dont try and fix what isn't broken.

Using caps lock key as caps lock and control key

I'd like to use the caps lock key as caps lock and control key. While I can convert the caps lock to control key very easily, there seems no way to make it both caps lock and control. Is there any way to do this? I use emacs and it'd be really useful to be able to do this.

Finally found something that worked for me. See this thread and look for the post about removing the Hitoolbox plist files.

I removed all of them. (Had multiples) Also make sure you empty the trash afterwards.
Then restart.
Then I used the modifier key trick in this thread. Turned off the caps lock key. Then restart.
Then use the modifier key trick and turn the caps lock key back on. Test to see if your lights come back on for the caps lock key.
If so, next time you restart it should still work. Finally. This thing has been dogging me for a long time.

Yes you can. You can access your account using any Skype enabled computer/device in any country worldwide.
TIME ZONE - US EASTERN. LOCATION - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA.

Too much risk of merging or losing data.

I have lots of music on my iTunes on my home Mac mini and I have some music on my work Dell Laptop(with iTunes). What would be the best way to sync up my two iTunes libraries (one on my Mac, the other on the Dell lapper) to the iPod, or is it even possible to use it interchangeably with both the Mac and PC??

Indicator and Control in one

I am trying to construct an numeric control which will specify the width of the image a camera has to obtain.
However, when I read out the current settings, I want the current number to also appear in the same numeric control, so it needs to act like an Indicator.
How can I do this in Labview?
I've tried with a local variable, but that didn't work. (maybe I did it wrong?)

I couldn't find any local variable or Property value node in your main VI block diagram.
Did you create a copy of your controls in a subVI and used a local variable in the subVI? If I'm right, it won't work. The controls in the main VI and in the subVI are not the same.
You can "return" the value from the subVI and use a local variable in the main VI with this value or, if you need to update the values during the subVI execution, you can pass a reference of this control to the subVI and use a property node in the subVI.

Using project libraries for both web-based and AIR applications

I need to develop substantial code to build both web-based and AIR applications. Yes, they will have different features, especially when it comes to accessing files on the local file system.
However, 98% of the code can be shared.
I want to use a project library that can be used for both types of applications. Maybe using conditional compile when required to not use AIR API's in a web-based application.
I found this (somewhat old) warning:
Include Adobe AIR libraries Select this option if your library must use AIR features, such as access to the AIR APIs. Flex Builder then changes the library path of this new Flex Library project so that it includes airglobal.swc and airframework.swc. Web-based Flex projects cannot use this library.
Do not select this option if you are writing a generic library intended to be used only in a web-based Flex application, or in either a web-based or AIR-based application.
Does this apply to Flash Builder 4.5?

I have found a workaround, but it's quite clumsy, involving a transfer vector (in old-fashioned terms) in the main application for each function in the AIR library.
I have created a library for AIR classes only (fourdtext.fileOperations is there).
The AIR application provides "Function" values that any other code in the general-purpose libraries can use.
It works, but it's nasty.

I have no idea what happened, why you are seeing what you are seeing.
My only guess at finding the missing work is to look under File->Open Recent on both computers.
I do know that if you aren't making regular backups of your catalog file, and relying on synchronizing catalogs from one computer to another via the cloud, you are living very dangerously, and now you are possibly going to pay the consequences of not making regular backups.

Can I use Magic Jack for BOTH phone calls and Fax. Is Magic jack PLUS BETTER.

I am using the Magic Jack for regular phone calls. Now, I want to use it for Faxing in and out - on Windows - on a wireless connection to my Officejet 8600 Pro Plus. I see a lot of problems in the forum. Is it easier to buy and use the new Magi Jack PRO. AND. PLEASE, Does anyone have instructions for the installation and use?

I'm going to be up front and straight forward with you. Magic Jack, does not work with faxing 90% of the time. It's not designed to. That being said, you still have to have a phone line plugged into the printer to fax. There is no such thing as wireless faxing. There is internet faxing, through companies such as eFax, and you can use eFax wirelessly form the front panel of select printers. The 8600 is not one of those printers though. The printers that include the eFax app are in the PhotoSmart line. Now that you know all of that, you can try to get faxing to work with magic jack, but it' most likely not going to work. Here is a list of the things you can try:
Fist make sure you have a DSL/Digital filter installed in the line. Next, set the fax speed to slow. You can find steps in this document that will help with that. Last make sure the ECM (Error Correction Mode) is off. To turn off the ECM:
From the home screen, touch the right arrow.
Touch setup.
Touch fax setup.
Touch advanced fax setup.
Scroll down to ECM.
Touch ECM.
Touch off.
Touch the home button.
That's about all you can do to get it to work, and even then it's not guaranteed at all. Like I said, Magic Jack does not work with faxing.

We are creating a EBIDTA Report which is already developed in R/3 and these result will be stored in Z table.
we have created a DSO which will store this Z table data.
Now the req is we have a created a field called ZVersion which is there in the Key fields of DSO. ok
But in report we want to use the condition TOP1 on the version. as the version is a not a key figure we cant create the Conditon on the characteristc.
If we use version as a key figure then the records are summurised in DSO as u have to insert it in Data Field.
we want to use version as a primary key.
so how to go abt it?

Using a dim as both a label and filter

Hi we run sql 2012 and excel 2010. I was playing with powerpivot and it seemed that when I was ready for my pivot table, my location dim couldnt be both a label and "filterable" item at the same time.
After making my "location" a row label, pp prevented me from also dragging the same atribute to the report filter pane.
So how can I see location detail and still get a choice of limiting things to just certain locations?

You could add the field as a slicer in order to have it on the Pivot table while still being able to filter the data.

Yes you can. But property nodes are much slower than local variables. For simple programs, you won't notice the difference. But sooner or later, you will encounter a case where too many property nodes will noticeably slow down the code. It is considered bad programming style to use property nodes instead of local variables. Property Nodes work through the UI thread. Locals do not. So locals present a lot less overhead.
It is best to not get into a bad habit from the start. Use local variables instead of property nodes.
I do use local variables and think it is ok but there are the people on here that think they are the worst thing ever invented. Also it is not bad to show a couple of different way to do things so the OP can learn different ways to do things. Property nodes are something that you will inevitably have to learn if the OP wants to do real programming.
