Using an array to record button click order

I am working on a demo of a UI for a handheld device. I am
trying to make a back button that can track the users actions back
several steps.
I started by putting this line of code in my frame 1 actions
layer:
var wherefrom:Array = new Array();
then i placed this follwing code on several different
buttons:
on(release){
wherefrom.push("frame_name1");
gotoAndStop("frame_name2");
then on the back button i added this following code:
on(release){
gotoAndStop(wherefrom.pop());
it doesnt seem to be working. I was wondering if this type of
action is possible using AS2.0? any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

I believe scene names (and also scenes) only exist at
authoring time and are converted to frame numbers when the swf is
compiled (I may be wrong because I don't use them). You might have
more success if you tried using frame numbers.
Try using
wherefrom.push(_currentframe);

When a button is clicked I want to take text from 4 different text fields and add them to the end of their respective arrays. I declared the array's as class arrays in a different JFrame, is it possible to take the text from this new JFrame's Textfields and add it to the arrays. Here's the code

For instance if you used a JOptionPane, you could place a JPanel within it that has several JTextFields, and easily extract this information. But note that there are always messy quick and dirty ways of doing this that don't scale well as your project grows or changes. What BDLH was suggesting was to keep your logic and your GUI separate and your class coupling loose so as to avoid these pitfalls. Also know this. If you see him disagreeing with something someone here says (including or especially me), I'd go with his interpretation over mine any day as he's a pro.

Using style sheets in a button click event

hi. doing a project and extending the WoodStocks application. so need to google and find how to add keyboard short cuts to the data grid, the combo box, how to manually add the read only and edit columns and to do error handling for the save button. once
i do this, then need to have two buttons. two different styles sheets, and using xml and xsl. so, do i just then do the xml and the xsl style sheet headers in a cutton click event. have gone through the learning from http://www.w3schools.com, and done the
xml and the xsl tutorials. and so. just asking for your feedback, tips and tricks. and now, looking to have two style sheets, one for a visual user and one for a blind user. what aspects should i have in each style sheet. looking for feedback, advice. thanks.

Using dynamic array as record selection criteria-performance issue

Hi All,
I have successfully passed an array to my subreport and using it as selection criteria. This subreport is embedded in a group and prints data recursively. Problem is the selection is happening locally which causes all the records to be brought and then filters them. Any solution/help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Vinay. But I think I found my answer actually at the selection criteria I was creating an array from string as follows,
stringvar array ConjugateLots = split( str, ",")
in ConjugateLots* //this was causing the local fitration and then I switch to
* in split( str, ",") // which worked.
But once again thanks. But now I have another issue, I want the records to be sort in the array items. Any help with that also greatly appreciated.

I'm having trouble recording a bass to go along with a recording I dropped into GB. I'm using an interface and I can hear the bass line, I've clicked on the 'record' button, but the sound does not record. What am I missing?

Double check all your audio settings.
System Preferences --> Sound --> Input should be set to your audio interface.
GB --> Preferences --> Audio/MIDI --> Input should be set to your audio interface.
With your track selected, open the Track Info pane, and select the Edit tab. Under input make sure that Mono 1 or 2 is selected (which number will depend on which input you plugged your bass cable into).

Logic 8 freezes when clicking on the recording button (audio)

I am a newbie, switched recently.
When I click on the record button, Logic 8 pauses for more than a minute before starting audio recording normally. The external hard drive where my project files are saved becomes "very active" during the pause and then works normally when audio recording starts.
Thsi happens only on the files I imported from the OMF and Midi files created on my previous DAW (Sonar6).
I tried to record audio in a blank project: no problem at all.
This is not a problem of the external drive spinning off when not used because Logic freezes everytime I click on the record button even if I do it immediately after a previous (very short) recording test so the hard drive does not have to spin back on. Tried on my 3 external drives (2 USB, 1 firewire) same problem.
All my external drives are also used with Windows so they
have the Fat32 format.
Copied a project file to my MacBook desktop: no recording freeze problem!
Might be linked: I am a bit surprised with the project file sizes: 500 to 600 MB each file created from OMF and Midi Sonar exports! (average 5 audio tracks, 5 instrument tracks, I use Stylus RMX for drums).
They were much much smaller on my PC as Cakewalk Sonar files. Are these normal project files sizes with Logic?

At a guess I'd say - is your external drive Mac-formatted or PC formatted? Seeing as you were using Sonar, you've obviously come from the PC. You should not use FAT drives, you should format them to the native Mac format.
All my external drives are also used with Windows so they have the Fat32 format.

"Normal" is entirely relative. Some people's projects are much smaller. Some are much larger.

Urgent: Flash Player 10, record audio - save locally on button click?

Hi there,
I am wondering if Flash Player 10 will allow a Flex app or a Flash app the ability for the user, inside of a web-page, to record some audio with their microphone then click a button to activate the OS's Save File dialog? The user would then just save the audio on their local filesystem.
I was thinking this had to be done with a Java app, but I am seeing that v10 allows saving if the user initiates the action (button click)... i cannot a definitive answer or example that shows recording audio without it going to FMS or Red5. The requirements of this app prohibit a media server so I am not sure if this can be done with Flash Player 10?
Is this possible? If so are there any examples of this flow?

In fact, we can turn to use other available programs to record audio from flash and save locally by clicking buttons. It is possible to use recorders to record audio on flash or any other media players.
I don't know whether my guess is what you are thinking or not, perhaps you need to search for more information.

two things to try: either click the green "zoom" bottom at the topLeft of the window in the title bar, or go to your System Prefs and then Displays, and increase the resolution that is used

Clearing array on button click

i have a problem in clearing array.
1. i have a vi witch on a button click add element in array ,and plot the values on graph.
2. second time when i run vi on graph i get all the values witch i got in first run pluse the values on second run

Ok, so we have an XY graph. Here I've attached two examples of the same approach as earlier (just second one use only one array of x-y pairs to store data). Local variables used only for cleaning graph display BEFORE any new points will be added (after first point you add, it will be also initialized). So this is just for cosmetic reasons

Using an array to assign values to 36 radio buttons

Okay, here's another doozy for y'all.
As some of you know, I'm trying to create a character creation program for D&D. When we roll ability scores, we roll 3 sets of 6 rolls, rolling 4 six-sided dice, rerolling 1s and dropping the lowest number, then add the highest 3 rolled numbers together.
Great! Got that part done!
The next thing I'm having some issues with is transferring those numbers to radio button text property. What I have done is created a form that has the rolled values in listboxes so the user can see what was rolled. They can only choose one "set"
of rolls, so each set of 6 rolls is in a separate listbox. I can get the values from the listbox to an array, but I can't figure out how to get the values from an array to the radio buttons on the next form in the program.
The next form in the program has 6 group boxes, each labeled with a different ability score name (ie: Strength, Dexterity, etc.). Also in each group box are 6 radio buttons. Each radio button in each group box needs to have the same values. For example,
the first listed radio button in each group box needs to have the first value listed in the list box on the previous page. The second listed radio button in each group box needs to have the second value listed in the list box, and so on. I want it
to automatically load, but I'll settle for ANY load at the moment!
The other thing is that I don't want to write 36 lines of code for each group box's radio buttons! I would like to be able to populate the values with a loop. So, the biggest question is how to create an array containing all 36 radio buttons, then assign
my list box values to them according to their position in the multidimensional array.
Here is a tidbit so you'll have an idea what I'm looking at.
list box 1 has values 17, 18, 8, 12, 15, and 13. I want the radio buttons in each group box on the second form to be 17 for the 1st radio button, 18 for the 2nd radio button, 8 for the 3rd radio button, 12 for the 4th radio button, 15 for the 5th radio
button, and 13 for the 6th radio button.
Any ideas?

Using an array to assign movie clips to buttons

I've got 5 movie clip buttons. When a user rolls over a button, I want one movie clip to play. When a user clicks on that button, an alternate movie clip plays. I'm trying to use an array to assign certain movie clips to certain buttons and actions, but I'm not doing something quite right. I can get one button to work correctly, but then am having issues getting the other buttons to work.

Open Dialog box on button click using Visual Webpart

Hi,
I am trying to create New Item,Edit Item & Delete Item button in Visual web part.On clicking on the button it should open the corresponding custom form on dialogue box.I don't want to create any button in the ribbon.I just want to create UI page for
all buttons and also corresponding input forms on button click in Visual web part.
Is it possible through visual web part?
I will be needing your initial guidance to achieve this.

To open a modal dialog, there are multiple ways, such as using JavaScript.

OATS - Browser is not getting launched when I click on the record button.

Hi,
I've just installed Oracle Application Testing Suite in my machine. During the installation process I was intimated that the EmpAppServer in the installation path does not contain the jboss binaries. However, it allowed me to continue with the installation.
I've installed the OATS and the OpenScript. I need to record scripts for a web application. Now when I click on the record button, the browser is not being launched. I don't get any error message too. I'm not sure if this issue has got anything to do with jboss.
Can someone please help me out?

Try to run the batch files in the OpenScript directory to disable and re-enable the browser helpers. Which browser do you have OpenScript set to launch, IE or FF? Which version of IE and FF are installed on your machine?

How to move a selected row data from one grid to another grid using button click handler in flex4

hi friends,
i am doing flex4 mxml web application,
i am struck in this concept please help some one.
i am using two seperated forms and each form having one data grid.
In first datagrid i am having 5 rows and one button(outside the data grid with lable MOVE). when i am click a row from the datagrid and click the MOVE button means that row should disable from the present datagrid and that row will go and visible in the second datagrid.
i dont want drag and drop method, i want this process only using button click handler.
how to do this?
any suggession or snippet code are welcome.
