Using an attribute set in a servlet as a bean in a JSP

Say, I have saved an attribute in any scope in a servlet or its helper class using setAttribute("xyz", someObject).
* Would I be able to access this attribute in a subsequent JSP using <jsp:getProperty name="xyz" property"someProperty" /> *
The reverse works true ie. setting the attribute first as a bean in a jsp and den accessing it using getAttribut

Lakshminarayanan,
Actually, there are 2 ways to share data between WD components:
1. Context mapping
2. Combo of parameters to methods / parameters in events.
Say, you want to synchronize your 2 toolbars. You may declare some method(s) to alter state in "toolbar" component interface and some event(s) about state update. Now main component has to subscribe to this event from every component usage and invoke method in other component usage to synchronize state.
With context mapping you may achieve state synchronization automatically. Also method/event pair will look plain ugly if you have a lot of parameters or complex structures.

  • Custom search using boolean attribute set to True gives no result

    I am setting up an auto-query using the custom search portlet. This is to show all items where a boolean custom attribute is checked, ie = True.
    In step 3 I have tried to set the operator to Equals to and the default value to True. This gives no results even though several items have this attribute set to True.
    The Auto Query check box is checked.

    Found that True = 1 in database. When set to this the search works.

  • Using trans-attribute of Required with public vs. private bean methods

              I'm having problems attempting to begin my transaction (using the Required transaction attribute
              setting in the desployment descriptor) in a private stateless session bean method. The scenario is as follows:
              public void methodA() <-- want NO transactional setting
              doSomething();
              private void doSomething() <-- want trans-attribute of Required
              doFirstPart(); <-- trans-attribute of Supports
              doSecondPart(); <-- trans-attribute of Supports
              When I do this, if I force a failure in the doSecondPart() method, the doFirstPart() database activity is NOT
              rolled back properly. If I go ahead and set the trans-attribute of methodA() to Required and change
              doSomething() to Supports, then any database activity in doFirstPart() appropriately gets rolled back
              upon a failure in doSecondPart(). Can I not initiate a transaction in a private method? Can anyone point
              me in the right direction?
              Thanks!!

              Here is the deal. What I was missing was this...to take advantage of the transaction attribute settings that are set in the deployment descriptor, you must call a method that is present in the remote interface. AND you must call that method through its remote interface instead of calling it locally.
              For example, I originally had the scenario below:
              public void methodA()
              doSomething();
              private void doSomething()
              Well, in the code above, there are two problems.
              1) doSomething() needs to be public and part of the remote interface;
              2) methodA() needs to call the method using the remote interface instead of calling the method locally.
              Like this:
              public void methodA()
              Object ref = jndiContext.lookup("ejb-name");
              EJBObjectType obj = (EJBObjectType) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ref, EJBObjectType.narrow);
              obj.doSomething();
              public void doSomething()
              Or something pretty close to that. Make sense? This means that there is NO effect of putting private methods with transaction attribute values in the deployment descriptor.

  • Bug w/ xsl:attribute-set in java xdk

    Hi - I found what seems to be a bug in the 9.0.0.2.0.0A xdk beta for java. In xsl, if you have an empty xsl:attribute-set (one that uses other attribute sets but does not define any of it's own), the XSL Processor gives an internal error. Adding an attribute to the set fixes the problem.
    Example:
    <xsl:attribute-set name="foo" use-attribute-sets="set1 set2"/>
    Gives:
    (Error) An internal error condition occurred. at oracle/xml/parser/v2/XSLProcessor.reportException (XSLProcessor.java:694) at oracle/xml/parser/v2/XSLProcessor.newXSLStylesheet (XSLProcessor.java:500) at oracle/xml/parser/v2/XSLStylesheet.<init>
    Changing it to:
    <xsl:attribute-set name="foo" use-attribute-sets="set1 set2">
    <xsl:attribute name="bug"/>
    </xsl:attribute-set>
    Gives:
    No error
    Is this a bug or are you required to define at least one new attribute in every attribute set?

    correct typos:
    I can't reproduce the error you got by defining the following stylesheet. Please let me know if anything I misunderstand.

    </xsl:attribute-set>
    <xsl:attribute-set name="foo" use-attribute-sets="set1 set2">

    <xsl:template match="/">

  • Can complex product attribute sets be re-used for subsequent products?

    I am attempting to lure a customer away from Joomla to BC.
    They have many categories, each containing many products,
    and each of these with multiple and complex attribute sets.
    Each attribute set is common to many products.
    Eg: Furniture with table-top laminate colour options, framing colour options, caster options etc.
    Can these attribute option sets be created once and re-used?
    Thanks.

    Although this solves my immediate dilemma, it's not ideal for the customer.
    They really should be able to add pre-formatted attribute groups when they are adding new products
    (without having to resort to exporting, editing and re-importing spreadsheet data).
    I hate a situation where a customer can achieve something in Joomla but not in BC.
    Maybe I should add this to the latest BC feature wishlist.
    Anyway, thanks again for your reply.

  • Use request attributes in JSF

    Is there a way we can pass data from one form bean to the other using request attributes insted of session attributes?
    I am able to work with session attributes using
    HttpSession mySession = (HttpSession) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getSession(true); and setting attributes to it, but getting null pointers(occassionally) when I retrieve the atribute and work with it.
    getSession(false) isnt helping either.
    Looks like facesServlet is creating a new request when it forwards to next page. Any idea on how to get the Faces Servlet do something like request despatcher forward, for navigation so I can work with request attributes?
    Appreciate your input.

    Can I have just one backing bean and use it for all jsps in the app? App has 4 flows from home page and mutiple jsps in each flow. Each jsp has multiple form fields. Is that OK?
    Any way to passing data/objects between different backing beans - other than using session attributes? I had similar problems working on Struts app as well.

  • Set a new servlet to form.action in a Javascript method

    Hi!
    I have a JSP page with a form where I set a servlet to call on submit in the action attribute. This servlet is supposed to be called when pressing the submit button at the end of the page.
    In JSP:
    <form action="<c:url value="/commitment"/>" method="POST" name="CommitmentAdd">
    My problem is that I have a select box inside my form where I use 'onchange' to call a Javascript method, and in that method I want to set another servlet to the forms action (using the servlet-mapping url-pattern name in my web.xml file).
    (I want the JSP page to change due to what you choose in the select box and I'd like to have that code in a separate servlet.)
    In Javascript:
    document.CommitmentAdd.action="/commitmentAddReload";
    document.CommitmentAdd.submit();
    When the Javascript method is called I get the error:
    "The requested resource (/commitmentAddReload) is not available."
    How can I set a new servlet to be found and called on submit?
    Thanks,
    Asa

    Try putting the whole URL in.

  • How do I set the initial servlet pool size in WL 5.1

              In WL 4.5, I can set the initial servlet pool size using the
              weblogic.httpd.servlet.SingleThreadedModelPoolSize. I tried to set this property in WL 5.1, and get an "Found undeclared property..." message when booting WL. Is this feature still supported in WL 5.1? If so, how do I set it?
              Thankx

    It appears that pool size of 5 is hardcoded somewhere - no matter where you specify
              weblogic.httpd.servlet.SingleThreadedModelPoolSize, the following test servlet:
              import javax.servlet.*;
              import javax.servlet.http.*;
              public class SingleT extends HttpServlet implements SingleThreadModel {
              static int instanceCount = 0;
              public SingleT() {
              super();
              System.out.println("Instance " + (++instanceCount) + " created");
              always produces:
              Instance 1 created
              Wed Nov 01 11:15:36 PST 2000:<I> <ServletContext-General> SingleT: init
              Instance 2 created

  • Mass creation of Marketing attributes under attribute set

    Hi All,
    Please let me know if there is a possibility for mass creation of Marketing attributes and marketing attribute sets in SAP CRM Standard functionality.
    I am not talking about below " creation & assignment to BPs using the expert tools. "
    CRMD_PROF_CHAR  Create/Change Marketing attribute/set
    CRMD_MKTDS           Create datasource/attributre list
    Create marketing attribute and maintain in Business Partner.
    CRMD_MKT_TOOLS  you can use this to delete/assign mass marketing attributes to BP.
    we can go for a BDC program, But I want to keep that as a last option.
    Please help and suggest me if there is any standard way of creating or uploading the Mass Marketings attributes in CRM system.
    Regards,
    karthik J

    This functionality can be achieved through ELM (External list management)

  • Retrive Business Partners related to the filters of an Attribute set

    Hi SAP Gurus,
    I hv a requirement to get Business Partners related to the filters of an Attribute set.
    I hv used a FM 'CRM_MKTTG_SAL_SEARCH_DB' to get the GUID of the attribute list.
    If the GUID is passed to another FM 'CRM_MKTTG_SAL_READ' we can get the details of the attribute list i.e. GUIDs of Attributes and Filters within the list.
    All we need to o now is to identify the BPs related to the filter criteria.
    So, is there any standard report program or Function Module which can be used to achieve the above purpose?

    Thanks for the reply.
    this FM is taking the Marketing Attribute Set ID as input and returning the BPs in it.
    I would like to know if I create an Attribute list in the T-code CRMD_MKTDS, create a filter criteria for this attribute list, then how come I can determine the BPs related to this filter criteria Can this me achieved by any FM or Standard Report program?

  • Error: Attribute set for field_name in view object VO_instance failed

    While I try to add a new row in a table using a VO created on two EOs, it comes back with error message 'Attribute set for <field_name> in view object <VO_instance> failed' for each field I enter the data. Please suggest me if I am missing something while doing it.

    Are you sure you are specifying a value for the attribute of the VO and the value of correct data type.
    Also, please make sure that you have one row coming from each EO , so that the VO has one row, and a outer join is not happening.

  • New Format for creating Attribute Sets.

    Hi,
    In SAP CRM webclient ui 7.0 there is a new format for creating Attribute Sets. The format is 'value table'.
    On selecting Format=Value Table the field 'Table' comes up.
    There is a message: Here you can enter a table that contains all the values you want to use. This is particularly useful for attributes with a lot of values or if you want to enter multiple attributes with the same values. The table must be a check table with a search help.
    Do I need to create a table with all the fields in in marketing attribute assignment block with search help on attributes field.
    Can you please guide as to how I should go about this issue.
    Regards,
    John.

    Hi John,
    The Attribute Set of Format type 'Value Table' is for the Mutiple Attribute Sets. These can be either a Single Attribute Set with Multiple values or the Multiple Attribute Sets with One value.
    You can include all such marketing attributes into one table which is a check table with search help. and use this as the Value Table.
    Hope this helps you out!
    Regards
    Veena.
