I am trying to connect to a domain i have created using a windows azure vm but dont want to have to change my dns server settings? Please help.

According to your description, my understanding is that you have deployed a domain in Azure VMs, right? If yes, how did you configure the DNS servers on the Azure domain? Did you have a DNS server and a domain on your local network?
In general, to connect to the Azure AD from the on-premise domain, you may need to point the DNS server on the Azure domain to the same DNS server on your on-premise domain and create a site-to-site VPN connection between your on-premise network and Azure virtual
network.

Using Azure internal load balancer (ILB) for Sql Reporting Services

I am attempting to implement a scale-out SSRS deployment using the Azure ILB feature. I have created 2 Sql Reporting servers using the azure images and have created a ILB endpoint on both servers. I am then attempting to access the servers via the
ILB from my .Net web application. I can access the report server from my browser and am prompted for credentials using forms authentication. there is no issue accessing the reports from a browser however my web application cannot access the reports
and returns a 500 error. I have a hunch this is due to an authentication issue due to invalid kerberos proxy authentication.
Does anyone have any information regarding the possible authentication mechanisms that are supported using Azure ILB?

Thanks for the response Swallow0417, but as I stated I already had configured this to work in a browser. I should have mentioned that I already had set the machine key and altered the rsreportserver.config file as mentioned in
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281307.aspx.
It turns out this was due to the extended data validation that was introduced in SQL 2014.
This page led me to alter rsreportserver.config so that:
<RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel>Off</RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel>
<RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario>Any</RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario>
After restarting the report server service my application now can make the requests for the reports successfully. I'll provide the other steps I took to hopefully help someone else in the future:
1. Create 2 or more SQL servers in an Azure availability group on the same service in a Reports server scale out deployment. The SSRS Service account must be a domain account or it will not work
2. Create an Azure ILB using powershell and add the endpoints on your http(s) ports on the server in step 1. I also set the endpoint IdleTimeoutInMinutes to 30 on both endpoints as it seemed like there was some possible timeout issues. the endpoint MUST
also have DirectServerReturn Set to $true
3. disable the loopbackcheck see method 2 here

4. Configure View state validation by setting an identical machine key on all servers behind the azure ILB

Setting the hostname tag breaks the report manager url. It is only
required to set the URLRoot tag. I do not think it is required in this configurtaion only for Windows

Error on microsoft login page for OpenId authentication using Azure AD

We have implemented authentication for multi tenant SaaS solution which uses Azure Ad single sign on using OpenIdConnect authentication and its working fine.
The problem is when user is logged in in azure management portal with his live account and in other tab he try to open our app, then he directly gets below error on Microsoft login page.

This works fine if I will pass "prompt=login" query string parameter in sign in request, But in that case single sign on is not working. Is there any way to resolve this issue
without loosing single sign on experience?

802.1x using authentication from NT Domain Controller instead of Radius

I would like to know if it's possible to configure 802.1x using authentication from NT Domain Controller, instead of using Radius or Tacacs.

It is possible to use MS AD, generic LDAP, Novell NDS for authentication, it's fairly common.
The issue is "How do get the device to talk to the authentication source ... (AD, DC, NDS, LDAP)?"
The answer is RADIUS.
You can configure RADIUS to pull authentication from a variety of source (depending on the RADIUS - many/most can use any of the LDAP-based systems).
So, yes, certainly you can use the Microsoft AD, but you need RADIUS to connect the two systems (the 802.1x device and the AD server).
If cost is the issue, try freeRADIUS (www.freeradius.org) - it's fully featured (can use LDAP, AD, NDS, Certificates, etc), it's free, and configuration is much easier than it looks ....

You did not mention exactly which Forms version you are using so it will be difficult to offer specific help. However, you did mention Forms 9i. ALL "9i" releases were desupported long ago, so find software or documentation are becoming more difficult.

Can I use Azure Backup and Windows Server Backup in a Windows Server ?
I want to use both Azure Backup and Windows Server Backup for two senarios.
For Disaster Recovery = Azure Backup to Azure Storage.
For non-Disacter Recovery = Windows Server Backup to a on-premises disk.
The non-Disaster Recovery mean a file or folder recovery, disk crash recovery, migrate to another servers.
The non-Disaster Recovery need the speed of recovery just like 10 TB recovery as soon as possible.
If I can use both Azure Backup and Windows Server Backup in a Windows Server,
Are there any notes for using both ?

Using Azure 2.5 cspack throws System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException: Type 'System.Xml.Linq.XElement' in Assembly 'System.Xml.Linq Not marked as serializable

Hi,
I am using Azure SDK 2.5 package, and when I run cspack from build window it throws me below error:
error MSB4018: The "CSPack" task failed unexpectedly.
System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException: Type 'System.Xml.Linq.XElement' in Assembly 'System.Xml.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' is not marked as serializable.
But when I use the 2.4 SDK it works fine for me. Please advice how to fix this issue.

I am not sure about the root cause, but I did find a workaround for this at the following stackoverflow article

"Copy the Azure SDK 2.4 version cspack.exe, ServiceDescription.dll & Microsoft.ServiceHosting.Tools.MsBuildTasks.dll to Azure SDK 2.5 cspack.exe location and replace. This would using cspack 2.4 to pack with Azure SDK 2.5 runtimes."

Your answer is incorrect for my question. The link you gave is for a implementation of 2 datacenters using Azure as the wittness server, and that is not possible because you can make only 1 site-to-site VPN connection to Azure and having 2 datacenters you
would need 2 of them.
But my scenario is different, I have 1 datacenter and I want to use Azure as my 2nd datacenter for Exchange and for my witness server. I suppose that using the only 1 site-to site VPN that Azure provides is enough for that situation, but, the question is....
Is there any issue with that scenario? Did anyone try it?

How to create Redis cache using Azure powershell?

Is it possible to create Redis cache using Azure powershell? I tried to search the solution from internet, but cannot find one.

I ran into this issue as well and the answer was not obvious when trying to write a deploy script in powershell.
The issue stems from how you setup your azure subscription in powershell. If you chose to use certificate-based authentication (i.e. import-azurepublishsettings), then any cmdlet using the resource management api will NOT work, failing with an authorization
header error. Powershell even lets you know. After you have setup your subscription, run Get-AzureSubscription and look for the line starting with "SupportedModes". You will notice that only AzureServiceManagement shows up. You need it to contain
AzureResourceManager as well.
The Add-AzureAccount cmdlet will add the AzureResourceManager mode to your subscription
But you want to use this in an automated fashion? Read on.
1) If your Microsoft account is not also linked to an organizational account OR your organizational account contains the subscription you are attempting to use, then simply login using Add-AzureAccount. That will give you access to both modes.
2) If you do have a Microsoft account linked to an organizational account, you can use Active Directory service principals. Be warned that it requires setup, but it will give you access to AzureResourceManager cmdlets. Here is a guide: http://blog.davidebbo.com/2014/12/azure-service-principal.html.
There is another caveat: you will not be able to use both modes in the course of your script with a service principal account. Service Principal accounts use Role Based Access Control, which is not currently supported in the Service Management API. I have
not found a great solution to overcome this--other than creating a new Microsoft account and linking that to the subscription you want to use which I find distasteful.

I am using ansible hosted on linux to manage both Linux and windows VMs hosted on azure, and use azure xplat-cli commandline to create VMs. When i create windows server 2008, I need to trigger few startup scripts so that those are preconfigured while windows
server is up. I was able to install CustomScript extension using below command

I have uploaded my scripts to azure blob storage account, and i need to trigger scripts using the extension, and i don't find any proper documentation (documentation was only for powershell). Can you please help

Media URL expiration and IP restriction when using Azure CDN

Is anyone tried to use Azure CDN mapped to storage used for media streaming?
In my media account I have IP restiction for my org + I am setting timeout for the URL to be public.
Will those rules still going to work for accessing the media via the CDN?
If not - are those features availabe for the Azure CDN?
