Using button control in BEx Analyzer to filter on multiple items

I'm trying to create a button control in BEx Analyzer to duplicate the following command:
DATA_PROVIDER=*&FILTER_IOBJNM_1=<StructureID>&FILTER_IOBJNM_2=<StructureID>&FILTER_IOBJNM_3=<StructureID>&FILTER_VALUE_1=<Item1>&FILTER_VALUE_2=<Item2>&FILTER_VALUE_3=<Item3>&MULTI=X
where <StructureID> is the technical name (the 25-character alphanumberic string) of the structure I want to filter on, and the three items within the structure have technical names <Item1>, <Item2>, and <Item3>. This command works fine on the web, but when I set up a button in BEx Analyzer with the following attributes, it only filters on one item:
Name             Index  Value
CMD              1         SET_FILTER
DATA_PROVIDER    1         DP_1
FILTER_IOBJNM    1       <StructureID>
FILTER_VALUE     1       <Item1>
CMD              2         SET_FILTER
DATA_PROVIDER    2         DP_1
FILTER_IOBJNM    2       <StructureID>
FILTER_VALUE     2       <Item2>
CMD              3         SET_FILTER
DATA_PROVIDER    3         DP_1
FILTER_IOBJNM    3       <StructureID>
FILTER_VALUE     3       <Item3>
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jason

Jason,
thank you for the information. This morning I found out myself by checking the 3.5 Web API Reference which basically offers everything I need.
To facilitate data entry you could try using a reference command area somewhere in your excel sheet where you can easily enter the command data and also can make use of copy/paste. I tried this and it works fine - much better than to enter the values in the dialogue.
Best regards

  • BEx Analyzer: Exchange characteristics with design item "Button"

    Hello everyone,
    I am creating a workbook with the BEx Analyzer. The user should be able to exchange one characteristic with another one by a button click (e.g. replace the drilldown of characteristic product group by a drilldown of customers).
    I inserted a button in the design mode and edited it with the command wizard.
    In the area for the static parameters I inserted the following:
    Name/Index/Value
    DATA_PROVIDER/1/DP_1
    CMD/1/EXCHANGE
    IOBJNM_1/1/Product Group
    IOBJNM_2/1/Customer
    I tried several variations of this, but they all didn't work.
    Does anyone know how to define such a command?
    Thanks in advance for your answer,
    Rainer

    Hi,
    Button Design item is used to perform three types of functionalities
    1. Workbook specific Commands : these are helpful in performing any changes or navigations in the workbook. For example moving from one sheet to another on the click of the button can be realised.
    2. Planning Specific Commands : these are used mostly when a planning scenario is realized using the Bex workbook. Planning commands usually would be to save data in the workbook created on an input ready query to the plan cube, or to execute a planning function or a sequence.
    3. Data provider specific commands : Commands used to change data based on a spcfiic dataprovider.
    Let me know if you are looking at anything else other than this.

    Hi jinhyoung,
    Why do you need a separate button to get the data from the variable screen and so on..?
    If you insert a Analysis Item in the workbook and assign a dataprovider., in that dataprovider, assign a query which have the mandatory variables and for which you want the data to be displayed.
    You'll automatically get the variable screen with buttons and all..
    I hope I got ur requirement correct and hope this helps you..!

  • "Enter in role" button missing in BEx Analyzer 7

    Hello all,
    I cannot see the button/option to enter an existing query into an existing role. I simply do not see the button "Enter in Role" in BEx Analyzer 7. I have SAP_ALL / S_RS_EXPL_A / S_USER_AGR access.
    I do not want to do this thru Designer or WorkBook.
    Please help me identify if I am missing on anything.
    Regards
    Sanjyot

    i have done it.. i have inserted query into the role.
    Go to query designer and assign the queries into the role.
    First you have assign a user into the role where you want to insert the queries. login with the userid then roles will be displayed in the open POPUP.
    There click the enter to role tab and it will display the all the roles. you have to select the role to insert the query.

    I have done a little in the attached VI and encountered the problems:

    Hi mipro,
    You can modify the mechanical action of a button by right clicking and going to the Mechanical Action menu. Right now you have your buttons set to Latch When Released. This means when you release the button it will switch states, then switch back again. If you want your button to switch states and stay that way, you should use the Switch When Released setting.

    Hi,

  • Error in Bex Analyzer including the filter button command in Callback macro

    Hello,
    I have the following problem with the function filter button in the Bex Analyzer included in the callback macro:
    Because of using 2 hierarchies in the filter the setting drill down to level 2 in the query gives no right output in the Bex Analyzer. The drill down level 2 is not shown. SAP recommends the include of a filter button to solve this problem. With a filter button in the sheet the problem was solved.
    But after including the filter button command in the callback macro I get an error in MS Excel.
    The callback macro starts, the filter was set by the user and the data was refreshed. Because of the refreshing of the filter the callback function the callback function starts several times. After setting the filter the first time, the following macro avoids the several starting of the set filter function:
    Sub CallBack(ParamArray varname())
    On Error GoTo err_handler
       Dim lRange As Range
       Set lRange = varname(1)
    'Filter entfernend/delete filter
    Dim ZeichenFilter As Long
    ZeichenFilter = Len(Sheet4.Cells(41, 3).Value)
    Dim Filter1 As String, Filter2 As String
    Filter1 = Left(Sheet4.Cells(28, 3), ZeichenFilter)
    Filter2 = Left(Sheet4.Cells(41, 3).Value, ZeichenFilter)
    If Filter1 <> Filter2 And Filter2 <> "" Then
        onAction = True
        onAction = False
    End If
    'Filter setzen mit einmaligem durchlaufen/set filter and run one time
    If onAction = False Then
        onAction = True
        Call Sheet4.BUTTON_55_Click
        onAction = False
    End If
    exit_handler:
        Exit Sub
    err_handler:
        MsgBox Err.Description, vbOKOnly, "Error in " & " setMusterSub"
        Resume exit_handler
    End Sub
    After the filter was set the callback macro starts the second time. Then the Bex Analyzer erros with the sandglass. The working on VBA is possible, but not the working with Bex Analyer . Values in Excel weren’t shown.
    How can I avoid this error?

    Once I am adding VAR_VALUE_1 to the static parameters, the system generates two messages error:
    Program error in class SAPMSSY1 method : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
    System error in program SAPLRRS2 and form GET_SID-1

  • How to disable the Tools Button in Bex Analyzer

    Hi Guys,
    How do I disable the Tools button only in Bex Analyzer so as to avoid the users messing with Query Designer.
    Thanks,
    Recca

    Recca,
    Can you do this via authoirsations instead?  ie. Allow two types of users, Designers who have access and Users who don't.
    User will be able to access the Query Desinger but have no access to create or save. That should suffice.
    If you start tweaking with the toolbar it may have wider negative implications.

  • Usage of BEx analyzer 3.5 and 7.0 in parallel

    Dear experts,
    for testing activities we have to install new BEx Tools 7.0 on client machines because the new solution is built on NW2004 BI and just the new 7.0 frontend will be supported.
    However the "old" system will still be used even after go-live for a certain period. We are facing the problem that old queries and workbooks might be migrated and overwritten if the user accidently hit the save button in new BEx analyzer or new query designer.
    We found a solution for the query issue by limiting use of query designer to a small set of power users. However we do not have a solution to prevent the migration of old workbooks by now.
    Looking forward for your answers.
    Thanks and cheers,
    Joerg

    Hi Joerg,
    The old (3.5) workbook stil remains and can be opened through the 3.5 version of BEx analyzer, even if you have migrated and saved in the 7.0 Analyzer.  Be careful though as simply taking a 3.5 workbook and migrating it can cause undesirable formatting...in our case we recreated the workbooks into new roles by running the query and saving the workbook, instead of doing the migration.
    You can also limit the users' auth so that they cannot save into the global workbook roles.
    Hope this helps...

  • Bex Analyzer Toolbar in Excel

    Hi,
    I have a customer usind Bex Analyzer (Excel) for reporting.
    Does anyone know or maybe someone had to do it already if there is a <b>possbility to "grey out" buttons on the Bex Analyzer Toolbar in Excel (e.g. the "tools" button or the "settings" button)?</b>
    I would appreciate any information on that very much.
    Thanks for your help
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
    If you want this function to run when a workbook opens, you would put the code in the code window of "ThisWorkbook".
    Tools >> Macros >> Visual Basic Editor is a good start.
    If the Project Explorer window is not visible, then use View >> Project Explorer (or Ctrl+R) to make it visible.
    Locate your workbook in the Project Explorer window.  It will be named something like VBAProject(xxxxx) where xxxx = your workbook name.  If the workbook was opened from the BW server, the name in parentheses might be something like xSAPtemp1234.xls.
    If you see a "+" to the left of the VBAProject name, then click to expand it.  You should now see at least two folders under the VBAProject name:
    + Microsoft Excel Objects
    + Modules.
    Expand the Excel Objects.  Under the Microsoft Excel Objects heading, you will see icons representing each of the worksheets in your workbook, and an icon that is named ThisWorkbook.  That is where you would want to put the code if you want it to run every time that the workbook is opened.
    Select the ThisWorkbook icon, right-click, select View Code.  The code window should open on the right side of your screen.
    As an example, to execute the "test3" subroutine when the workbook opens, you would use the code below:
    Private Sub Workbook_Open()
        Call test3
    End Sub
    The code for test3 subroutine would be added to either a new (Insert >> Module) or existing Module.

  • Excel 2002 with BEx Analyzer NW2004s

    Hi,
    can I use Excel 2002 with BEx Analyzer NW2004s? I read somewhere, it is possible only with Office 2003. It's true?
    Thanks!

    Hi, for some reason the BI FAQs on SDN are not up-to-date. I will investigate and make sure they are refreshed asap.
    You always find the up-to-date FAQs on SAP Service Marketplace /bifaq. There you see the correct answer:
    Which versions of Microsoft Office are supported by SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) BI Business Explorer (BEx)?
    BEx in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) supports MS Office 2003 and Office XP, SP2 (this includes Excel 2002) based on GUI 6.40
    BEx in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) supports MS Office 2003 based on GUI 7.10
    For information on planned support for Windows Vista and Office 2007 (based on GUI 7.10) please check the Functional Enhancements Schedule BI in NW7.0 (2004s).
    There is
    no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools on MS Office 97
    no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools for Office XP (Excel 2002) in combination with GUI 7.10
    no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools for Vista in combination with GUI 6.40

  • BEx Analyzer displays wrong number of decimal places after implementing BW patch

    Hey folks,
    we patched our BW 7.31 from PL10 to PL15 last weekend and now we got some issue with the number of decimal places shown in BEx Analyzer 7.x.
    One example for KF X
    Settings Info Object X
    Decimal Places:                         Not defined
    RSRT - Display X
    Shows 3 decimal places
    Query Designer Settings using KF X
    Number of Descimal Places:     0  [Use Default Settings: NO]
    BEx Analyzer Properties for KF X
    Decimal Places:                         0
    Resulting in BEx Analyzer workbook shows 3 decimal places instead of 0!
    Anyone with an good idea about that?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
    Have you used the list calulation like "Calculate Result As Average" or "Calculate Single Values as normalization of result" in the relevant key figures?
    For "Calculate Single Values as normalization of result",iIt is the known design that it is always displayed with three decimal places for normalized values, and the setting in Query Designer for
    decimal place doesn't take effect.
    For "Calculate Result As Average", the following note maybe relevant.
    2096911 - Decimal places in query result is wrong, if average is used and display precision is set to less than 3, it will always show 3 decimal places.
    Another clue is to check if the key figure is a Quantity type with unit, and what's defined in table
    T006 field ANDEC for this unit.
    Hope this helpful.
    Regards,
    Ceciclia
