Using IPs in Policy Agent fqdnMap puts agent/AM into loop

We are running Access Manager (AM) 2005Q1 on Solaris. Our web servers protecting the content are Apache 1.3.29 with Policy Agent (PA) 2.1.
Our environment uses multiple web server instances on the same physical Apache web server. The separate instances are either assigned different ports so they are accessible via the web_server_IP:port or separate instance IPs so they are accessible via instance_IP:80. We do not have separate DNs names assigned for each web server instance.
For discussion purposes the web server host name is ws1.xyz.com and its IP is 10.1.1.1. The default web server is 10.1.1.1:80. Our 2nd web server instance is accessible via 10.1.1.1:81.
If we try to access the 2nd instance via http://10.1.1.1:81/myapp the default action of PA is redirect the browser to http://ws1.xyz.com:81/myapp. Due to special logic in some of our apps the PA redirect breaks the application (its a long story).
On separate tests I put the 2nd web servers IP in the PA fqdnMap property as valid|10.1.1.1 and 10.1.1.1|10.1.1.1 in order to try and prevent the initial PA redirect back to ws1.xyz.com:81. The user is properly directed to AM for authentication, however, after authentication there is a loop condition between PA and AM. My assumption is the loop is occurring because of a conflict between the IP used to access the web server and the cookie generated by AM. AM generates the cookie for the domain xyz.com. When the user is redirected back to http://10.1.1.1:81/myapp PA does not see a valid cookie and redirects the user back to AM. AM sees a valid cookie and redirects the user back to http://10.1.1.1:81/myapp hence the loop.
My questions are:
1. Does PA 2.1 support using IPs to access a web server instances?
2. If so, how do I configure this capability?
3. Would assigning separate IPs to each web server instance help? I assume assigning separate DNS to each instance would resolve the issue.
4. Is there something I need to do on AM to allow using IPs in the manner described?

this would only help if Access Manager and the policy agent receide on the same box.
Agent redirects to an FQDN to get the SSO Token. By default its a domain cookie and the browser will only set it to FQDN which are "below" that DNS domain.
To use IP-Addresses for the agent agent must use host-based cookies.
Configure agent for CDSSO and specify the ip address in the fqdnMap (as you already did) - or if Agent 2.2 is used disabled FQDN checking.

    Hello all,
    Symptoms:
The Configuration Manager only shows the following actions:
    Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle
Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
    Software Updates Deployment Evaluation Cycle
User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
In Software Center there are no applications visible. Also the default 'IT Organization' is shown instead of the 'real' name.
    The Confugration Manager:
shows in the tab 'General' the correct Management point. Connection type is 'currently intranet' (ok)
shows in the tab 'Site' the correct site code.
shows in the tab 'Components' all components as either 'installed' or 'enabled'. Only CCM Notification Agent shows 'Disabled'.
In SCCM 2012 under 'Client Settings' -> 'Default Settings' -> 'Client Policy' the setting 'Enable User policy on clients' has been enabled.
    Done so far (without success):
    Re-installed the MP
Run a query on the SCCM Database to check if there are any corrupt records. There are not.
    Installed version 5.00.7958.1000
    CCM Framework: 5.00.7958.1203
The computer is installed with a task sequence. There is a reboot after 'Setup Windows and ConfigMgr (CM2012 R2 CU1)'.
Installation command of the SCCM Client (during OSD deployment):
    SMSCACHEFLAGS=PERCENTDISKSPACE SMSCACHESIZE=10 SMSSLP=demo-sccm.demoforest.local SMSMP=demo-sccm.demoforest.local PATCH="%_SMSTSMDataPath%\OSD\TDS00020\KB2938441\configmgr2012ac-r2-kb2938441-i386.msp"

  • Can not use stored windows credential when running merge agent with agent proxy

I have an account ACCT_A and create a windows credential
CRED_B target to server DISTRIBUTOR_1 (with cmdkey).
And I setup a pull subscription to DISTRIBUTOR_1 and set merge agent run under agent proxy with credential of account
ACCT_A (The sql server agent is running as LocalSystem or Network Service). Then the merge agent job will failed and complain "Failed to connect to distributor
    DISTRIBUTOR_1".
However if I change the sql server agent to run as ACCT_A and let merge agent job run as SQL Server Agent Service Account it will successfully connect to distributor
DISTRIBUTOR_1 with credential CRED_B, with other setting unchanged.
    Here are the questions:
Is it possible to grant other accounts to access one's stored windows credential in Credential Manager?
I suppose merge agent job will get full security context of ACCT_A when it runs under agent proxy with credential of ACCT_A and should be able to access stored credential CRED_B and
successfully connect to DISTRIBUTOR_1. But nowCRED_B seems can not be accessed by merge agent. Could somebody explain what's the problem here?

    Hello,
We're currently on JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.0.4270. We just release a new version of our web app into production. This is an internal web application. application server is weblogic 10. The weblogic log is showing alot of these warning messages. I tried search on this forum and in google but unable to find any information. I really appreciate if anyone has any idea what could be causing these warning. Our users are constantly getting sent back to the login page to to user sessions lost.

    Hi,
After reading all your posts as per my understanding.
    1. You said that you have a dialog work item inside a loop and this has to get approved by different people at each level and at each level there could be a possibility that there can be multiple agents. In your current case it is working fine for one single agent.
First of all why are you trying to populate the agents in a separate multiline container element. Why am I saying this is because when workflow already provides the technique to handle this kind of situation  by creating RULES and assign it to the dialog work item to determine the agents . If you would have created a rule to determine the agents based on the each level irrespective of the number of agents determined by the rule the work item will be sent to all the respective agents inbox.
So create a RULE in such a way that based on the loop iteration or level it should determine the agent and assign this rule to the dialog task.
    2.  If am not wrong you might be using some kind of dynpro application so that is the reason you are trying to complete the work item by making use of function module. Clear me that is the user completing the work item from SAP inbox or UWL. also clear that is the task is a decision task or simple foreground task.
If the task is a decision task then make use of the function module SAP_WAPi_DECISION_COMPLETE. if the user is executing the work item from sap inbox then there is no necessary of completing the work item. system will take care of other things.
    3. Finally You say that the work item is still appearing in the executed users inbox.
This could be possibly because of the way you are trying to complete the work item. So to overcome this error you need to redesign your workflow by adding RULE to the dialog task. Then you wont find any issues.
Please do not populate all level agents at one go. determine agent at each iteration of the loop independently.

  • Log Reader Agent and Snapshot Agent wont start

    Hi There,
I've two SQL 2012 servers with multiple instances installed.
I've started replicating the databases in these instances using transactional replication and thus far they've worked without a hitch.
One of my instances, annoyingly, has an issue where the Log Reader Agent and Snapshot Agent refuse to start, and I've followed exactly the same process as with the other instances\databases.
The Agents are configured to make use of a domain user account with sysadmin permissions to the instances on both servers.
I get the following two error when I View Log Reader Agent Status:
The job failed. The Job was invoked by User sa. The last step to run was step 2 (Run agent.).
I've asked the agent to run as my DOMAIN\sqlservice account, so I've no idea why it's moaning about sa?!!?
I get the following error when I View Snapshot Agent Status:
The replication agent has not logged a progress message in 10 minutes. This might indicate an unresponsive agent or high system activity. Verify that records are being replicated to the destination and that connections to the Subscriber, Publisher, and Di
If I try to start either agent I'm told that the request to run job was refused because the job has been suspended, "Changed database context"??  Error 22022.
    Can anyone help?

This is because your job owner is sa.  Right click on your job and notice the owner - but is should be sa.
You likely have another issue. You may need to run the job and configure it for logging to see what the error is.

  • On transfer agent 1 to agent 2 employee responsible on support ticket is..

    hiee,
On call transfer from agent 1 to agent 2 employee responsible on support ticket is getting defaulted to Agent 1.
Calls that are transferred from Sales end up having the sales rep listed as the Employee Responsible in the Support Ticket. This makes the tickets "fall off the radar" because the Responsible Employee's Team is incorrectly determined to be the Sales Rep's Team or no team, instead of the Support Rep's team.
how to update the employee responsible in the support ticket from agent 1 to agent 2??

Are you saying the notes are incorrect?
No, I wasn't commenting on that at all. I was just saying that DBUA is the recommended way of upgrading databases... and that's in spades if you're talking about 100GB databases.
I'll lay odds that DBUA to 10.2.0.1 and then patching to 10.2.0.3 is quicker than exporting and importing 100GB of data.
(Applying a 10.2.0.3 patch is done with opatch and doesn't require a fresh installation of Oracle. A patch mostly just modifies the data dictionary: it's finished in minutes, not hours).
My real point: these sorts of questions are incredibly easy to ask, answer, discard, re-ask, modify, mull over and basically experiment with in a virtual environment.
And again: it's utterly bizarre why you wouldn't have physical access to this database (and keep in mind that I can't keep in mind little nuggets of information such as this one which you didn't see fit to share earlier!)
It's in a virtual server. Virtual servers can be zipped up and emailed! (OK, maybe not 100GB... but I've shipped a small hard disk in a zip-lok pack envelope half way round the world before now -though obviously it wasn't critical to have the contents of that envelope available for use all the time... Still, it sounds to me like here's a technology (virtualisation) that's not being properly exploited).

  • Converting Standalone Agents to CLuster Agents

    Greetings,
I have been reading about converting STandalone Agents to Cluster Agents and again am suffering a bit of confusion. Using the Enterprise Manager 12c Upgrade Console to upgrade from 11g to 12c via the 2-System method I have deployed and configured some agents on clusters. I do not know how all of the agents on these clusters were originally installed. After deploying, when converting the 12c agents I did specify the related targets for the clusters.
My question is whether or not the agents on these clusters is indeed configured correctly for a clustered environment. This is based on the fact that some appear to behave incorrectly (status pending is one issue). Is there a way from within the 12c console (or any other way) to determine if these agents are in fact properly configured for a clustered environment? My initial hope was that they would have been but given some of the differences between 11g and 12c I would like to verify that.
I would appreciate knowing if that is possible.
    Thank you.
    Bill Wagman

    Hi Bill,
In 12c, there are no special settings or steps for deploying agents to a cluster. You simply deploy an agent to every node of the cluster, just like you would on an individual server. Once the agent is deployed, the data collected about these nodes will be used to construct the cluster targets in EM. Unfortunately, any issues with data collections or dynamic properties or associations, etc can cause these clusters or its nodes to show incorrect status, or not be formed as complete targets.
Best to file an SR and have support look at your environment.

  • KDE4.1 ssh-agent and gpg-agent

Suddenly after an update of kdeworkspace my ssh-agent and gpg-agent have stopped working. Does anyone else have also this problem?
    Regards,

I've also had this problem, although I don't know the exact time it stopped working as I have not had to use my laptop to ssh for a while.
Everything seems to get created OK - the socket is created:
    [daren@daren_laptop env]$ ll /tmp/gpg-MZi0kX/
    total 0
    srwxr-xr-x 1 daren daren 0 2009-01-18 10:06 S.gpg-agent
and the env variable points to it:
    [daren@daren_laptop env]$ env | grep GPG
    GPG_AGENT_INFO=/tmp/gpg-MZi0kX/S.gpg-agent:4508:1
and the agent is running on the correct pid:
    [daren@daren_laptop env]$ ps axf | grep gpg-agent
    4508 ? Ss 0:00 gpg-agent --daemon
    4902 pts/0 R+ 0:00 \_ grep gpg-agent
If i run ssh-add from the command line, I get this:
    [daren@daren_laptop env]$ ssh-add
Could not open a connection to your authentication agent.
    [daren@daren_laptop env]$
I'm not that clued up on using the agent - it's always "just worked" after adding the script to ~/.kde4/env, but I'm kind of stuck now.  There was another post about issues with KDE 4.1 and the agents, but they resolved theirs by doing what I've had setup for a while now.

  • Failed to start e-TEST agent: error starting agent: \ne-TEST process ...

    Hi,
wihout changing the version or so we suddenly we experience the following error at status page (although the monitored web-page is fine):
Current alert: Failed to start e-TEST agent: error starting agent: \ne-TEST process has not established socket in 30 seconds.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi emposadi,
It looks like the e-Load server is having trouble communicating with the agent. Are you running the load test using an agent on the same machine or remote machine? You might want to see if a process has grabbed a port that the server communicates with the agent on. I would reboot the machines in question, shut down the Empirix Application Server and verify that ports 1099 and 9001 are not in use. Those are the ports that e-Load uses to communicate with the agent.

  • Orphaned Agent Error - Unexpected Agent Exit. Code = 128

    Hello,
I am currently running tests using the Load Testing Tool bundled with Oracle Application Testing Suit, to run performance tests for a web services application. Everything was running smoothly until I tried to run a total of 2000 users (200 users across 10 agent machines), which started to cause the tool to return "Orphaned Agent" errors ("Unexpected Agent exit. Code = 128" or "Unexpected Agent exit. Code = 1"). The Orphaned Agent errors aren't occuring right away, after user ramp up, it can be another 5 minutes or so before they are actually occuring. CPU and memory usage on the agent machines is not being maxed out (approx 30% usage).
I am using build 8.50.0260 of OATS.

    Hi Alex,
Thank-you for your prompt response. I reduced the number of agents I was using to 5, with 400 users on each (2000 users total). I then changed the Tools > Options > Scenario Defaults to use Java Mode and updated the maximum heap size to both 512 and 1024, however the error still occurs.

  • 12.1.0.3 Agent Upgrade shows agent Not Upgradable with Oracle Home Property Missing

I have completed upgrading my Enterprise Manager OMS from 12.1.0.1 to 12.1.0.3 and am not in the process of upgrading the agents. Several agents show agent as not upgradable with error Oracle Home Property Missing and I am having problems trying to resolve that. In addition to the information in Chapter 5 of the upgrade guide I have found Metalink notes 1564380.1 & 1576084.1 and am trying to follow them.
Looking at the targets.xml on one machine I find -
    <Target TYPE="oracle_home" NAME="cannon-columbo_cluster_home" IDENTIFIER="TARGET_GUID=615AE33355A4D531DBFC35831C2A2952">
    <Target TYPE="oracle_home" NAME="mothpa.ucdavis.edu_mothpa1_oracle_database_home" IDENTIFIER="TARGET_GUID=DFE64CFD805C3C3F88E20EE0E74E556F">

and following the notes I use emctl and run runCollection -
    ./emctl control agent runCollection mothpa.ucdavis.edu_mothpa1_oracle_database_home:oracle_home oracle_home_config
But the console still shows Oracle Home Property Missing. emctl listtargets shows -
    mothpa1:product/agent12g/agent_inst/bin->./emctl config agent listtargets

I have found some information pertaining to promoting targets but I don't understand that very well, essentially how to know if a target needs to be promoted. One note suggested running repvfy which I need to do. I will download it and run it to see if that helps but at the moment I am puzzled and seeking assistance. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
    Thank you.

I will do so, thank you.

I forgot my password for my iphone 4 and it is now disabled. I am trying to restore it through itunes, but it say I have to put my passcode into my phone first. Is there a way to restore without using my passcode?

The instructions are in that link. Just follow them VERY CAREFULLY. Especially the part about:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes. [but DON'T connect it to the iPhone yet]
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see the iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.

  • How can i put a file into blob(using sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver)

    Hi
i tried to put a file into blob , but got a problem.....
    My environment:windows 2000pro,JBuilder 5.0 enterprise,oracle 8.1.6,(not install oracle jdbc driver )

    sqlStr2="SELECT * FROM emp3 where id=1004";
    rs2=stmt2.executeQuery(sqlStr2);

and the windows pop up a messagebox said that(about) my memory "0x09af007f" could not read, error in javaw.exe .
Later i used (ResultSet)getBinaryStream() to solve it. but getBinaryStream() only return a InputStream,so that i can make blob to a file, but i can't make a file to blob using jdbc.....
I am very stupid that installing sun java, oracle jdbc driver etc....(because i must set a lot of thing such as classpath,java_home etc), Can i only use JBuilder to do that ?
Or i must install oracle jdbc driver ?
    Thanks.

My guess here is that Sun's JDBC-ODBC bridge doesn't handle the BLOB datatype. Most ODBC drivers don't support that datatype, so I wouldn't expect the bridge to.
Is there a reason that you can't use the Oracle driver?
