Using Nokia N95 with Mac?

Does anybody know if the new Nokia N95 can be synced up with Mac. The nokia website only mentions the PC suite for windows. I have managed to download photos via the usb cable, but would like to download maps for the built-in satnav, transfer videos music etc...
My dusty 5 year old PC laptop has been in the cupboard for 2 years since I bought my first Mac and I'd rather not go back and upgrade eveything just to make the most of this cool new device.

You can only use MapLoader on Windows.
I am using it under Parallels Desktop Build 3188. The thing is, smart2go who i think provides the map is still on beta stage. Out of the box, it has been my pratice to reformat my phone, so I have lost the maps. When I tried to download Philippines map (1.3 mb) it took me an hour to complete the download.

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum - where else would I post it?

  • Using Nokia N95 with Itunes

Is it possible to copy the song I purchase from itunes to my Nokia N95?

Only the iPod/iPhone range and the iTunes enabled phones from Motorola are compatible with iTunes for Windows and with copy protected songs from the iTunes Music Store. If you don't have one of these devices you can't play the songs in their protected state. You may be able to get your phone to connect to iTunes and add non DRM encoded songs to it with the aid of a third party helper program. Have a look at this one and see what you think: iTunes Agent -Windows

  • Sync Nokia 8800 with Mac OsX

    Hi.
Does anyone know how to sync a Nokia 8800 with Mac OsX, in order to get all contacts over to an iPhone.
Is there a free software out there (whyever Nokia doesn´t provide one).
    Thx,
    Mike
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Nokia used to produce Mac versions of the PC Suite software back in the long-gone days of the early Communicator series, but Apple applied pressure for that to stop, because they wanted all Apple users to sync with their own iSync software.
Regretably, Apple is not great at ensuring compatibility with all phones from all manufacturers. For more information, go to http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/isync/compatibility-and-download - you will see that the original Nokia 8800 is compatible with iSync but that subsequent versions like 880 Sirocco, 8800 Arte etc. are not yet covered.
iSync itself is made by Apple, and the Nokia site will link to Apple to download it. Nokia does provide some plugins to make some common models work, but I don't think that later 8800 versions are included. It is possible to search for third-party plgins that may solve the issue if your 8800 is not the original model.

Nevermind, I fixed it (I think).  I went into Settings | Accounts & Sync and found Yahoo at the bottom of the list (alphabetically).  I selected it and it had an optiion to delete the account, which I did.

  • Unable to use proxy server with MAC OS X Anyconnect client

    Hi All,
I have a VPN setup thru a Cisco 5520, Windows clients connect just find and the end users configure there browser to use our internal proxy servers.   Users with the MAC OS X Anyconnect client can connect, they configure their Mac to use our proxy server, but the broswers will not work, clients can reach networks and resources behind the VPN gateway and have access to the Proxy(Tried a telnet to that hostname/port).  Anyone run into this issue before?  I am running ASA 8.3(2), Anyconnect(OS X) 3.1.01065.
    Thank You

    We had the same problem.
We are behind government firewall so I don't know which Cisco firewall is used but we are using AnyConnect to establish VPN from internet to LAN behind firewall. We have no problems with Windows. With Mac OS X connection through proxy didn't work with Safari and Chrome (both are using system Proxy setting), but it did work with Firefox (which has it's own Proxy).
Finally we found out that ethernet MTU size was the culprit. When we set it to manual, with size being 1347 (or less), proxy started to work.

  • How I get started using voice input with mac mail?

Just got a new Imac.  have had Apple computers for a long time.  Want to start using voice input with mail.  How do I get started?

Apple's voice input options are the following:
    Dictation
This allows you to speak a phrase and have the system enter it as text in any text field, be it a name and address form or a text editor like Pages or Word. The settings for this service are in the Dictation system preferences, and by default you activate it by pressing the Fn key twice in a row and then speak the desired phrase after you hear the bing sounds.
    Speakable Items
This option allows you to somewhat control the Mac's interface elements by speaking key phrases to the system. This option is enabled in the Accessibility system preferences, and is at the bottom of the listed services. In here you can turn on the service and calibrate it to properly hear your voice, set a "listening key" (similar to the Fn key for Dictation), and then enable various command libraries.

  • Anyone using Lacie NAS with Mac?

Hi. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question. I want to buy a NAS with about 4TB capacity and currently am looking at the LaCie Network Space Max. I plan to move my iTunes library to the LaCie, and load it up with a bunch of other movies and content. I plan to use TimeMachine to back up my MacBook Pro onto the LaCie. I also plan to stream movies from the LaCie to my TV using the new Apple TV (which I haven't purchased yet).
Does anyone have any experience with this particular LaCie device, or with LaCie NAS devices in general. Do you find them to work well with Mac computers in the manner I describe above? Thank you!

Do you have a particular reason for purchasing this specific device?
i.e I use a QNAP TS410 nas which does all that you want on mac flawlessly, so at the minimum add this to your potential list.

  • Simple guide for using SQLite Manager with Mac Firefox browsing history

Is there a basic beginner step-by-step guide (rather then a detailed user manual) on using SQLite Manager to work with Mac Firefox browsing history? Thank you!

Firefox doesn't have many option to mange the History.
You can only delete items or copy and paste them to bookmarks.
Using the SQLite Manager extension to make changes to the History is not really recommended because a lot of tables are involved.<br />
The extension is suited to inspect or export specific entries occasionally, but not for doing more complicated operations.

  • Using virtual machines with Mac

    Hi Folks,
Any suggestions on using a virtual machine with Mac. Parallels, VMware Fusion or Virtual Box ? Which one is good and share some thoughts here.
    Thanks,

    Hi direwolf8,
You wrote : Not without knowing what you're trying to achieve.
This is what I am trying : I am planning to use the virtual machine technique so that I can work from home with the animation softwares to create and convert movies and the most commonly used systems, use Windows OS. I will need to test whether they will run in the Windows environment using all media players before making DVDs. (As per policies that is what I am supposed to reveal).
You wrote : If you're running Linux or Windows, you can use native drivers for your video display and skip the virtualized abstraction layer. You can even add a high-performance video card just for the vm's.
    How can I do that?
Hi dwd, Thank you for your response also.
    Regards.

  • Using Palm OS with Mac OS X

Is it possible to run an older PalmOS 3.x device and a newer PalmOS 5.x device on the same Mac computer ?
I have an old Handspring Visor Edge that runs on Palm OS 3.5x that I used to sync with my G4 Mac using Palm Desktop 4.0.
I just bought a new Treo 650 that runs on Palm OS 5.x, that required that I upgrade my Palm Desktop application to 4.2.1, which is not compatible with my Visor.
I want to give the Visor to my wife to be used on her Mac User account, but I'm unable to sync because it won't work with the Palm 4.2 application, and I can't install two different Palm OS applications in the Mac applications folder.
So is it possible to run an older Palm device and a newer Palm device on the same Mac computer ?

Each user has their own Applications folder. If you could get one of them to install there, that might do it. Or maybe manually move one of them there after installing it, before installing the other.

  • Can I use my iMac with Mac mini?

Can I use my iMac (PowerPC G5 2.1 GHz, Build 9L31a, Serial # W855104UTAR, VERSION 10.5.8) as a monitor with new Mac mini.
If yes, how to do it?

    YES!
You either must use a monitor to initially set up the Mac Mini, or use Target Mode to boot into its hard disk, and create these settings, but:
You turn on Screen Sharing in the Sharing panel in System Preferences in the Mac Mini.  In my case I also give my Mac Mini a fixed IP with DHCP with Manual Address in the Network panel.
Then you boot your iMac and in the Finder in the GO menu to Connect to Server... and enter: "vnc://192.168.0.148" but replace 192.168.0.148 with your Manual Address for your Mac Mini.   You log in with your name and password for the Mac Mini and your Mac Mini will now appear in its own window.
Go to Full Screen and now you can running your Mac Mini with your iMac's keyboard, mouse and monitor.
I have been using my mid-2011 Mac Mini in this fashion since I purchased it.
As a backup, I have an HDMI cable connected from my Mac Mini to my HDTV to allow for "monitor viewing" when and if needed.
I have an older Mac Mini running Snow Leopard as part of my home entertainment center, and with its own IP, I also control it in this fashion without a monitor (although I can "view" it on my HDTV through its component video input, when needed).
This is known as a "headless" mac mini.
In my case, instead of an iMac, I use my MacBook Pro.

  • Very low signal strength when using DLINK 2640t with mac mini

i have a mac mini and i have been using it fine with a 2wire wireless modem. However i have just switched to a Dlink 2640t (54Mbps (802.11g) Wireless ADSL 2/2+ Router with Built-in Modem, 4-port 10/100Mbps Switch) and have been getting very low signal strengths on my mac mini, resulting in me not being able to surf the internet. The modem+ router is located in the next room. Does anyone know whether its the problem with the modem router or mac mini's airport wireless problems with the router itself. It worked perfectly fine with my previous 2wire wireless modem
    please help!

Did you reset the router after you updated router's firmware? Its always recommended to perform a reset after firmware upgrade on the router.

For wireless range and signal issues, try changing the channel on the router to either 1,6,9 or 11.
