Using Oracle Paser for schema validation

Hi,
I am trying to use oracle parser for schema validation. I get hold of oracle parser using jaxp api. Below is the code snippet. When i set the attribute to turn the schema validation on, orale parser does not recognize this jaxp attribute . How can i do schema validation using oracle's xml parser implementaion that i get using jaxp?
String JAXP_SCHEMA_LANGUAGE = "http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/properties/schemaLanguage";
String W3C_XML_SCHEMA = "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema";
javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory factory = javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
factory.setValidating(validate);
factory.setNamespaceAware(true);
factory.setAttribute (JAXP_SCHEMA_LANGUAGE,W3C_XML_SCHEMA);
javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
Thanks

DOMParser domParser=new DOMParser();
domParser.setValidationMode(XMLParser.SCHEMA_VALIDATION);
domParser.setXMLSchema(SchemaUrl);
DefaultHandler handler=new DefaultHandler();
DOMParser.setErrorHandler(handler);
Parse the XML document to validate with the XML schema.
domParser.parse(XmlDocumentUrl);

Hi
Each time when you start your computer, you need to restart Oracle as well, its only with Windows XP. The process you have to follow each time is:
Start -->Run and then type CMD to open command prompt.
In command prompt type
svrmgrl and then press
connect internal/oracle and then press
startup force and then press
If you have any problem, then please email me, [email protected]

• Trying to use Oracle Locator for latitude and longitude proximity searches

I am prototyping using Oracle Locator to do proximity searches and other spatial operations within the database in our software products. I’ve got it working fine in SQL Server, where geodetic is built in as well as geometric features, but with Oracle we’re trying to restrict ourselves to the Locator features so our customers are forced to buy the add-on. I am getting perplexing results, as you can see if you run the little test program I wrote.
I am using lat and long as the point coordinates. I am inserting the data using
SDO_GEOMETRY(2001, 4326, SDO_POINT_TYPE(?, ?, null), null, null
Then I am doing the search with
SELECT pointname, SDO_NN_DISTANCE (1) distance_in_miles
FROM geotest g
WHERE SDO_NN(g.geopoint, sdo_geometry(2001, 4326, SDO_POINT_TYPE(38.683, 123.083, NULL), NULL, NULL), 'distance=1000 unit=mile', 1) = 'TRUE'
ORDER BY distance_in_miles
I am getting distances from 56 to 86 units, whatever the units are.
Am I attempting the impossible with Locator, to use lat and long and then expect the sdo_nn function to work in miles?
Select results:
POINTNAME DISTANCE_IN_MILES

Couple of things that we found out using sdo_nn here...
It works...but the knobs need to be turned in the right order...
You may have done this already...but here is what we have...
a. we create our table containing the location sdo_geometry column ..( in our case the column is called location )
b.We loaded the data..If you elected to use a partitioned table for your spatial data and created the corresponding spatial index as local...your sql will need to account for that.if your index is global ..don't worry about it
c. We inserted the metadata...this needs to be done once per table...by either the dba or the schema owner...
INSERT INTO USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA (TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME, DIMINFO, SRID)
VALUES ('<YOUR TABLE NAME>', '<SPATIAL COLUMN NAME>',
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY
(MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('LONGITUDE', -180.0, 180.0, 0.5),
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('LATITUDE', -90.0, 90.0, 0.5)
8307);
COMMIT;
If this is not done before the spatial index is created...stuff won't work...
d. create your spatial index
e. our query looked something like this...( I changed the table names )
This returns the top 30 results sorted by distance in feet...
SELECT LOCATION_KEY,
result_center_distance
FROM
SELECT LOCATION_KEY,
SDO_NN_DISTANCE(1) result_center_distance
FROM LOCATION_OWNER.D_LOCATION dlocation
WHERE SDO_NN(dlocation.LOCATION,
MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2001,8307,MDSYS.SDO_POINT_TYPE(-97.07845,33.138006,null),null,null), 'SDO_NUM_RES=31 unit=FOOT distance=5800.0 SDO_MAX_MEMORY=50000000', 1) = 'TRUE'
ORDER BY 2
WHERE ROWNUM <= 31
We had to use this structure because our index is local...and sdo_nn will return the sdo_num_res results for each partition...so you need to get the results first..then treat it as a top-n query...
If you index is global...this should work
SELECT LOCATION_KEY,
SDO_NN_DISTANCE(1) result_center_distance
FROM LOCATION_OWNER.D_LOCATION dlocation
WHERE SDO_NN(dlocation.LOCATION,
MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2001,8307,MDSYS.SDO_POINT_TYPE(-97.07845,33.138006,null),null,null), 'SDO_NUM_RES=31 unit=FOOT distance=5800.0 SDO_MAX_MEMORY=50000000', 1) = 'TRUE'
ORDER BY 2
If you want the distance in MILE...replace FOOT by MILE...
good luck...

The first issue I see is that Oracle 10.2.0.1 was never certified with DG4ODBC 11. Only 10.2.0.4 or 10.2.0.5 can be used as the Oracle database HS kernel requires a gateway compatibility patch and this patch is included in 10.2.0.4 or 10.2.0.5 Oracle database patch set.
Then another error in the trace is that for each column description you have an error:
hgopoer, line 233: got native error 0 and sqlstate HY091; message follows...
[Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]*Descriptor type out of range* {HY091}
Exiting hgopoer, rc=0 at 2012/05/31-13:11:28
hgodscr, line 615: calling SQLColAttribute got sqlstate HY091
It seems it is not critical as DG4ODBC continues, but a more detailed analysis would require an ODBC trace.
When looking at the table description it seems the column names are all in lower letters, for example: solar. So commonly Dg4ODBC needs to quote the names

and according to the trace the FoxPro ODBC driver doesn't like these quotes and reports a syntax error.
So this explains at least why select codcen from centros@fox1 will fail. In general the Oracle database is case insensitive and translates all object names to upper case and the select it will pass to the foreign database would be similar to:
select CODCEN from CENTROS => which will fail as FoxPro is case sensitive. So the error message ORA-00904 (missing column name) is correct and the statement you need to use is:
select "codcen" from centros@fox1;
But this might lead again to the Syntax error you got earlier => You need to check which sign (single quote, back tick, double quote) Foxpro uses to quote object names and then set the gateway parameter HS_FDS_QUOTE_IDENTIFIER accordingly.
To check which character can be used to quote column/table names you might use the Microsoft ODBc test utility which was distributed in the old MDAC 2.8:

If you know where I can download the MS FoxPro ODBC driver, please let me know and I'll check.

• Crystal Reports can't add stored procedure using Oracle Provider for OLE DB

Hello,
I am trying to bind an oracle stored procedure to a crystal report through Visual Studio 2008.
This oracle stored procedure returns a ref cursor.
I am using an oracle 11g database (11.2.0.2.0) .
When I use the Oracle Provider For OLE DB driver to bind the store procedure with the report, I get the following error message:
Description : ORA -06550 Line 1 Column 7
PLS 00306 wrong number of types or arguments to the "Strored Procedure Name"
But When I use the Microsoft OLE DB provider for oracle driver, I can bind the stored procedure to the report successfully .
I cannot use the Microsoft OLE DB provider for oracle driver because it does not support the CLOB data type which I plan on having the stored procedure return once I can get everything working.
I have tried setting PLSQLRSET = 1 IN "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KEY_OraDb11g_home1\OLEDB", but that does not seem to work either
Any assistance would be greatly Appreciated
My Stored procedure is very simple as the moment (I just need to get it working then I'll add more stuff). Here's what it looks like:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE PROMO.PKG_REPORT as
TYPE OUT_Type IS REF CURSOR;
procedure Report_ThisReport (
p_ThisIdField IN number,
IO_CURSOR IN OUT OUT_Type
end PKG_REPORT;
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY PROMO.PKG_REPORT as
procedure REPORT_ThisReport (
p_ThisIdField IN number,
IO_CURSOR IN OUT OUT_Type
IS
BEGIN
OPEN IO_CURSOR FOR
SELECT ThisField
FROM ThisTable
WHERE ThisIdField = p_ThisIdField ;
END REPORT_ThisReport;
end PKG_REPORT;

It seems that some questions posted here on the XE forum are really questions about other Oracle technologies.
Concretely, for you there is an Oracle Provider for OLE DB Forum that is active and a terrific resource for you to use.
Oracle Provider for OLE DB
Cheers!

• Installing a VB application using Oracle Provider for OLEDB

Hi all,
I have a corporate VB application that uses the Oracle 9i client.
The Oracle Client is on a network disk, so all my clients will not need to install on their client machines.
I am using Wise for Windows Installer to install the application on each client machine.
I need to include on the installation package the "Oracle Provider for OLEDB" files.
How can I do this?
Thank you all,
Ardates Cruz.

The standard way to use the unmanaged Oracle.DataAccess is to install an Oracle client on any machine that wants to use the application.
It is possible to avoid that installation by including a bunch of DLLs and some other files in the application, but it's far more cumbersome than using the managed client. Here's a link to get you started on that: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13721025/deploying-and-configuring-odp-net-to-work-without-installation-with-entity-frame

• Can I use Oracle XE for ODM prototyping?

Hi experts,
Can I use Oracle XE (Oracle Database Express, the free light weight database) for prototyping about ODM?
I am worrying about the ODM components are not installed with Oracle XE so I won't be able to use the data mining features.
Thanks
Peter

ODM is an option to the Oracle Database Enterprise Edition (EE). It requires the EE version.
Best regards,

• Can i use oracle 8i for oracle 9ias application server for developijsp applicationes?

hi,
can i use oracle 8i database for oracle 9ias application server for developing jsp applicationes?
can any one give suggetion?

If you are using OLite, you should use the OLite .NET provider:
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14156_01/doc/B13788/html/toc.htm
Look at Chapter 6 and 11, which cover ADO.NET data access.

• Using Oracle Clusterware for keeping other things than RAC HA

Hello.
I'm wondering who else out there has used Oracle Clusterware to monitor items other than RAC.
There are some good examples on
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/clusterware/index.html
But I was interested in finding other examples as well.
Thanks,
Erik

I am in the process of getting Clusterware to protect a single-instance (non-RAC) database... and not doing too well!
The theory behind it looks the same as for any non-Oracle app in that it just uses scripts (in this case Perl) to do the monitoring/stopping/starting.
My issue is once I've created the profile and registered it Clusterware just can't do a thing with it. It just errors and reports an unknown state. I have a SR on the go for it and it's been referred to the internal bods for review because everything looks right but it just doesn't work.
Has anybody achieved this and actually got it working?

• Using Oracle Text for searching with UCM 10g

I am using Oracle text with UCM 10gR3 and Site Studio 10gR4 and I am trying to sort the search results by relevancy and to also include a snippet of the retrieved document. I have the fields that the SS_GET_SEARCH_RESULTS service returns but the relevancy score is always equals 5 and the snippet contains characters such as < idcnull, /p, etc., which you can see are XML/HTML/UCM tags but which result sin even more strangeness in the snippet if I try to remove them programmatically.
I have read the Oracle Text documentation and there appear to be ways you can configure Oracle Text but I am not clear at all on what I can do from UCM. It looks like the configuration is either done in database tables or in the query itself, neither of which are readily configurable to me.
Is anyone experienced in this or know of any documentation this might help?
Bill

Hi
If I remember correctly then this issue was seen with an older version of OTS component and Core Update patch / bundle . Upgrade the UCM instance with the latest CS10gr35 update bundle patchset 6907073 and also upgrade OTS component from the same patchset .
Let me know how it goes after this .
Thanks
Srinath

• Empty Presentation Catalog using Oracle BI for Microsoft Office (Excel, PP)

Hi everyone,
after installed Oracle Business Intelligence for Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and configured according to this I only see an empty Presentation Catalog when I log on Excel or PowerPoint.
I've already see this thread and nothing seems to solve the problem.
Any ideas?

Hi John,
when I test my connection of Oracle BI for Office it says "Test connection successful", so I suppose there's no problem with connection or port.

• Using Oracle Text for Text Mining

Hi all !
I have 30000 text documents stored in a table and I want to construct a "dictionnary" that contains all the terms include in those documents. I will use this dictionnary to classify my documents with the text mining solutions of Oracle.
I created an index with a multi datastore, specific lexer, stoplist and wordlist and it creates well my dictionnary. The problem is that I would like to add some other tokens containing more than a word. I wonder how to use the index created : I tried to work on the table $I created for the index but it's not really successful. So I thought about 2 solutions :
- work on the index with insert, delete and synchronise operations
- find a way to insert the additionnal tokens (which corresponds to pattern) during the indexing operation
Can you help me ?
Laetitia

Hi,
Check out a thesaurus (enter your phrases here) and see if it will do what you need:
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/text.102/b14217/cthes.htm#i1006324
Don't modify the $I table as a general rule (or any system-generated table).
Thanks,
Ron
