Using Oracle SAP Adapter and IBSE for inbound IDOCs

I have been able to successfully use the Oracle SAP Adapter (e.g., IWAY) using the IWAY Business Services Engine (IBSE) to call a BAPI and have information returned. This use case is well documented and seems to be reliable.
However, I have had difficulty finding any examples where IBSE is used with IDOCS. In my case, I would like to have SAP send an IDOC and receive this IDOC in a Fusion 11g environment. I see conflicting statements in the document. On one hand, Section 3 of this document
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/doc.1111/e17057/config.htm#BABBGAAH
States "Events are not applicable when using a BSE configuration."
On the other hand, I see lots of documentation that says that you need to configure an Event in order for the IDOC to be sent to the proper destination. IBSE gives the ability to define events for IDOCs but the events are limited to either RMI or JMS. I have looked at the format of the JMS message and it looks extremely difficult to setup.
Has anyone done this before?

Let me try what ever I can to answer.
Loss of IDOCS should not happen. Are you starting the channels in iWay test tools while the JCA adapter is also running?. That should not be the case. iWay Test tools is only for design time purpose. It is not required for runtime. ie. Create channels and test the IDOCS being received. After that stop the channel and start running the server.
I suspect that starting channel in iWay test tools and JCA adapter/BPEL simultaneously will definitely result in IDOCS loss. Some of the IDOCS will come to iWay test tool while others will go to JCA/BPEL.
Regarding 2, lets us discuss this after this loss of messages is solved.
"Another issue that we have with the JCA approach is the requirement to have have a separate channel and a separate program ID for every IDOC. In our SAP system, we have thousands of IDOCS so having to setup a different channel and program ID for each one is going to be a difficult task".Yes. Initial versions of adapter used to support receiving all idocs on same channel. In your case MATMAS05/IORDER01 are received on same programID and customers used has logic to identify what idoc was coming. It was observed that complexity of the application increases exponentially with increased idocs and the debugging effort. And also the interface is not clean. That is the JCA end point cannot be assocaited with a specific WSDL so you will not what you will receive and of what type. To ease this, later version of adapter supported this feature that each idoc type is assocaited with a specific program ID. MATAS05--PID1, IORDER01--PID2. Adapter will ignore if MATMAS05 is sent on PID2.
In OSB we have concept of AnyXML service but I doubt if BPEL has such concept. If I remember OSB smart connect supported your exact use-case, but in later version it was decided to discontinue AnyXML inbounds.
Are you really planning to use hundreds of IDOCS on same PID?. Did you think of debugging complexity in such application? If you really think this need to be supported, please raise an enhancement request with Support. Product management will review your request for further action.
Thanks

  • Using Oracle Apps Adapter for apps_applcon user

    Hi,
We are trying to use oracle apps adapter for our BPEL flows using FM11g (Jdev11gR1). We came to know that it will work for only apps user.
We have apps_applcon user. How can we use that?
Is there any way we can tell oracle apps adapter to user apps_applcon user?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rama Krishna. P

We also have same requirement. We have BPEL connection using custom oracle user, xx_b2b and when we use APPS adapter, I can not see and use any business event.
If anybody across same requirement, please share your experience.
    Appreciate help on this.
    Thanks,
    Sonartori

  • Not able to integrate SOA Suite with EBS using Oracle APPS Adapter

    Hi,
We need to listen to outbound business events of Oracle EBS using BES via Oracle APPS Adapter.
We have created a composite containing Oracle Application Adapter and BPEL Process.
In Apps adapter when configured Outbound Business events "oracle.apps.bom.component.modified" using Dequeue Operation,a corresponding subscriber is created in WF_BPEL_Q for respective event selected.
    In Oracle EBS
for "oracle.apps.bom.component.modified" status is enabled and in subscription WF_BPEL_QAGENT is there.
When we are changing any BOM component in Oracle EBS Designer and saving it, a record is being created in "WF_BPEL_QTAB".
BPEL Process( Oracle Apps Adapter Partner Link---> Recieve Actvity ) instances are not being created when any BOM component is being changed.
Oracle Apps Adapter is not able to dequeue the data from WF_BPEL_QTAB.
There is not any error/exception in oracle soa suite server logs for Oracle APPS adapter.

We would like to capture a few business events in oracle BOM and PO that are of interest to us. In order to do this,
we deploy oracle SOA composite with BEPL in the Oracle Fusion Middleware Control. The oracle SOA composite is configured for a particular outbound business event. It should listens on a specific queue WF_BPEL_Q or WF_BPEL_QTAB and de-queues the messages from that Oracle Queue or Oracle AQ Table. In jDeveloper 11g we created a SOA project with oracle applications adapter partner link and a receive.
Specifically we are trying to capture the business outbound event oracle.apps.bom.component.modified just to get the event data in this receive.
Partner link configuration: We added the database connection to the oracle EBS instance. Tested it and we
succeded. Chose ANY_SCHEMA in partner link configuration.
We ensured that the JNDI Name here( eis/Apps/Apps ) match the JNDI name provided in the weblogic-->Deployments--
OracleAppsAdapter -->Configuration --> Outbound Connection Pools. For this outbound resource pool, Connection factory interface was javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory. Property name xADataSourceName was mapped to JNDI name of the configured JDBC datasource in the weblogic. When we created the connection pool. We tested and it worked fine. This data source had the connection pool configured to the oracle applications schema with APPS user.
After adding the partner link with the above configuration, we added a receive. We deployed this configuration to the middleware. We went to the oracle EBS modified a BOM component and we expected to having running BPEL instances against the deloyed composite. However, the problem is we are not having any running instance for the composite.
We found that there are entries in the view AQ$WF_BPEL_QTAB with an ENQ_TIME and ENQ_TIMESTAMP but with no DEQ_TIME or DEQ_TIMESTAMP. The ENQ_TIMESTAMP corresponds to the time we modified BOM in oracle BOM forms/Designer
The data is being written in WF_BPEL_QTAB for the BOM changes but not being dequeued by oracle applications adapter/composites deployed in soa server.
Please help me it quite urgent.
Is there anything we are missing on EBS side to be activited. for the events to be dequeued
    Any Help is appreciated.

  • EOIO should be enabled for Inbound IDocs to SAP

    Hi All,
    My Interface requirement:
i want to send my IDoC's to SAP ECC from SAP PI using IDoc Adapter in EOIO manner. so i have followed the below link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/96/791c42375d5033e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
1)I have have enabled EOIO in sender File adapter.
2)i have checked the Queue Processing in IDoC adapter.
assumed that IDocs are processing in EOIO manner. for proving the same, i have stopped the RFCUSER which is in ECC to process the IDOCs to SAP.
but still messages are stuck in Trfc queue, so i am thinking that EOIO is not enabled as messages are not stuck in SMQ1.
how to achive EOIO for inbound IDoCS??
    Thank You,
    Madhav

    Hi
It's fine that messages are not stuck in smq2 on PI side. You set in smq1 system, connection and assing connetion pool numer and meesage is transfered to Ecc using common connection. On target Ecc check tcode WEINBQUEUE.

  • BEA SmartConnect SAP adapter Vs Oracle SAP adapter

    Hi,
    Please provide your inputs:
    1. What is the roadmap going forward?
    2. Is there any comparison study about these? Or what all the additional features one has over the other?
    Thanks in advance,
    AP

On July 1st 2008, in the BEA Welcome Address, Oracle SVP Joseph Kurian mentioned that Oracle would go ahead with one set of adapters in the future. We will have to wait to hear about the timelines for this.
Irrespective of SmartConnect or Oracle SAP Adapter, both are developed by iWay Software. In SmartConnect, it majorly used with the SOAP Binding(Web Services) and in Oracle BPEL / ESB, it used with JCA Binding.

  • SQL types over PLSQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter in BPEL

Use SQL types over PL/SQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter
    in BPEL/ ESB
This document will be focusing on Oracle Applications adapter. However Database adapter is much like OA adapter (even OA adapter uses DB Adapter), so the readers who are interested to explore DB adapters, can relate things with this document and go further as well.
Some Guidelines for writing PL/SQL APIs for OA Adapter
As we know when we create a partner link from the OA adapter wizard it sometimes writes some wrapper script supportive to the OA Adapter WSDL which contains below
    * Object type for PL/SQL RECORD
    * Nested table of the given type for PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * INTEGER substituted for PL/SQL BOOLEAN
    * Wrapper Script for converting above three set of data types . (PLSQL to SQL and SQL to PLSQL conversion functions)
In runtime this wrapper script for converting PL/SQL to SQL and SQL to PL/SQL is an extra overhead.
So the first advice would be to avoid the use of the below as parameters of PLSQL API being called by OA Adapter.
    * PL/SQL RECORD
    * PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * PL/SQL BOOLEAN
In other way we can say we should try to use only SQL data types in arguments if we are planning to call any PL/SQL API from the OA Adapter.
If the requirement is to use a table or record uses the Object type. In place of BOOLEAN better to use VARCHAR or INTEGER what ever fulfills your requirement. Following this guideline we can reduce a huge number of Line of codes to be run each time the adapter being called.
Generally, Oracle E-Biz standard APIs use PL/SQL record types and table types so when there is a requirement to call these API’s from OA Adapter (this is a common requirement in development), and if we directly browse the API in OA Adapter Configuration Wizard and create the partner link, again a huge number of code is written by the wizard in the wrapper script (a number of extra mapping of fields which are not being used in the interface).
In this case better would be to create an Object type with only the required fields which are being used in that call and use them as parameters for the PLSQL API.

  • How to set file permission using Oracle FTP Adapter

    Hi,
I am using Oracle SOA Suite 11.1.1.4. I am trying to put a file using Oracle FTP adapter on unix box. The file that gets written to target system has file permission as RW/R/R. But this is a legacy system, and for them to consume this file - they expect the file permission to be RW/RW/R.
They have set the .profile with the required permissions for the ftp user account that we are using. But still when my BPEL process writes a file to unix box through ftp adapter, the file permission is RW/R/R.
Is there any way to control file permissions while writing files using ftp adapter? Any help would be highly appreciated.

But these setting needs to be done on unix server. Yes, that's the way to go... There's no config for that on FtpAdapter as far as I know...
This setting will enable the same configurations for all other ftp accounts on the server, which doesnt sound correct. Any other way of doing this? Or can this be done only for one ftp account? You have to check if your ftp server is capable of having different umask for different ftp users... I believe most do not...

  • Slow first connection using Oracle 10g xe and Visual Studio 2008

    {noformat}
    Good day,
I'm slightly unaccustomed to using forums, so bear with me.
My initial connection to the Oracle database takes approximately 30 seconds. It seems to be waiting for a connection before timing out and trying another connection which works, as all subsequent connections work immediately. I'm unsure how other people's responses in forums can help me due to the plethora of configurations, so here's mine. My comprehension of the oracle world is still growing, you'll have to explain the terms you're using for me, Hoping you can help.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008, set to use 32 bit debug mode, on a Windows 7 Pro platform. Also using Oracle 10g Xe, and have installed the 32 bit version of ODAC 11.2 (11.2.0.1) to aid making a connection from Visual Studio to Oracle.
I have a database set up and a user with system admin rights. This is all local for a programming project and will never see the light of day outside of my personal machine.
I am using code to connect, not the GUI. I wish to code this project completely without the aid of the GUI. so my connection string within Visual Studio C# is (pw/id hidden)...
    string xe = "Data Source=xe;User Id=xxxxx;Password=xxxxx;";
    OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection(xe);
    My c:\devsuitehome\network\admin\sqlnet.ora file is this:

So, how can I make that initial connection faster so I don't spend 15 years testing my application due to slow start-ups? :)
    Thank you.

I have formatted my hard drive since my first post. I was running window 64 bit with a higher version of the ODAC and that proved to crash my machine with faulty error messages about memory. I have reverted to a previous version of the ODAC tools and everything works very smooth now. Still the connection time is consistently 20 seconds or longer on the first attempt.
Just a little more information.. I am currently taking a college course with 15 other students, as you can tell by the impersonal machine name, where programming using visual studio 2008, and Oracle 10g xe is expected. All of us are using a 64 bit environment and we all have difficulties cutting down the load time of making the first connection to Oracle. Some people are longer making the connection, but none are shorter.
One other note. After the first connection is made, taking 20 or more seconds, and is closed, all subsequent openings of the connection are instantaneous, for all of us.
If there is ANYTHING more I can get for you, please let me know. With my environment stable as it is, I will not need to format or change any information for the foreseeable future.
Here is the information you requested
1 The connection method I am using, I have chosen the manual connection for you, however the delay exists if the connection is made through the GUI as well.
Historically, I am getting slow connection speeds through adding the connection through the GUI or by a manual connection. Here is how I am doing it manually. I have the connection being created in 20 seconds, which is the best I can get.

I fought for weeks about the ODAC version 11.2.0.1 that you see in the previous post, and that would be a whole new thread. Suffice it to say I have a reliable environment to program in with this 10.2.0.1.0 version that I am running now, and the connection time has not changed, it is still minimum 20 seconds load time, sometimes up to 25.

  • Capturing error messages from Oracle EBS APIs when using Oracle Apps Adapter

We are using Oracle applications adapter to call Oracle EBS (both R11.5 and R12) APIs. I want to understand the best practice around error handling when using Oracle Apps Adapter to call Oracle EBS.
    Here are some observations:
    1. Most of the APIs return X_RETURN_STATUS and X_MSG_DATA containing the status and messages if any.
    2. If the MSG COUNT is 1 then X_MSG_DATA contains the message, if MSG COUNT is > 1. X_MSG_DATA is empty.
We know that when calling the API directly from PL/SQL, we need to loop through FND_MSG_PUB to fetch all messages when there are more than 1. How do we achieve the same using Apps Adapter as Apps Adapter generates the PL/SQL block to call the API dynamically at runtime.
In some APIs, which have table/rec types as input or output parameters, Apps Adapter generates a wrapper package to do conversion from SQL--> PL/SQL and viceversa. In this case the adapter calls the custom package generated which internally calls the API. For these APIs we were able to put the logic to loop through FND_MSG_PUB and return a concatenated string as value of X_MSG_DATA.
But what should we do for the APIs which do NOT have a rec/table type as input or output, in which case the Apps Adapter directly calls the API and there is no intermediate custom package?
    How are others handling this?

If you are traveling in Europe, do you need both an adapter AND a voltage convertoro charge the IPad2 and the iphone? Or, the reverse, will it hurt either if I use both the adapter AND the voltage convertor?

You may only need adapters for the different kind of sockets, depending of the country you want to travel. A voltage converter is not needed.
The Apple power units are multi voltage devices, supporting a range from 110 V to 240 V. as you can see on the labels. O.K. for most of the labels you need a magnifier, but its on them.

    Hi lalit,
Upgrade your database 10.0.2 to 10.1.0.5.
You can apply the Oracle Database 10g release 10.1.0.5 patch set to the following Oracle Database 10g releases (10.1.0.2, 10.1.0.3, or 10.1.0.4) installations.
See document 263719.1 on the OracleMetalink Web site:

  • Oracle Error Code and Message for Query Timeout

    Hi,
I need to catch the oracle error code and message for query timeout.
I am using Oracle 9i and could not find any relevant error code/message
for query timeout in Oracle Error Messages.
If anyone has encountered such error messages, please let me know the
    Oracle Code or Error message.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kanjana

Fly is correct in that Oracle will normally let a query run forever in the absense of a user profile or dbms_resource setting that limits a users (query) resouce usage.
The errors returned for these condition would probably vary but errors ORA-02092 "exceeded session limit on CPU usage, you are being logged off" and ORA-02093 "exceeded call limit on CPU usage" might be of interest.
But for distributed queries Oracle does impose a time limit. See Oracle error ORA-02049 "timeout: distributed transaction waiting for lock"

Can Anyone help me out here...Thanks in advance.

It's not looking for your PIN - that is only used over DTMF-based interactions - it's looking for your CUC password. If the mailbox is synced from LDAP and you have LDAP Auth enabled on CUC, then this would be your AD password. If it's synced over AXL, not synced at all, or LDAP synced but without Auth, then there will be an alphanumeric password field on the mailbox under Edit > Change Passwords.

  • Multiple iphones each with an apple id - can i use the same laptop and itunes for back up, restore and updates?

We have two iphones each with a different apple id - can i use the same laptop and itunes for back up, restore and updates without risking having my apps overwritten.  Basically does itunes keep the two iphones as two separate entities ?  Does iTunes differentiate between the two devices and keep two different SYNCs ?

Yes, you can use the same computer for BACK UPS, RESTORING AND UPDATING. But that is it.
You cannot, however, use it to sync the different devices. iTunes will only recognize one device to sync with and if you sync any other devices with that iTunes library, it will replace what is on the phone with whatever is in the library. It cannot differentiate between devices. At most, it will jsut recognize that the phone has been synced with a different iTunes library.
So if you would like to use the same computer for backing up, restoring and updating, just make sure to turn of Automatic Syncing in your iTunes Preferences.
