Using powershell to rotate which IE window/tab is displayed.

Hi,
We are currently working on multiple performance dashboards which are to be hosted within a web browser - due to restrictions within the workplace we HAVE to use Internet Explorer 11.
I understand that with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox there is the capability of rotating through open tabs, this function is however missing from IE.
We have 4+ dashboards set up which we can load up and view completely fine, what we are aiming to do is to rotate each IE tab so that each dashboard (tab) is showing on the monitor periodically in a loop. I have searched online and found there is
the PowerShell Community Extensions that seem to do the job but again due to work restrictions - I can only use what comes out of the box with PowerShell, which seems to be limited when trying to do this.
So I suppose my question(s) is/are:
Can I periodically loop through tabs within IE using normal PowerShell techniques?
If not; can I periodically loop through separate IE windows to similar effect?
It is imperative with the solution that the page doesn't load up a fresh instance of the url as the dashboard displays historic data which is collected real-time.
Thanks in advance

Hi Broham21,
Unfortunately SendKeys is not an option for us as you quite rightly said that they are notoriously unreliable
Hi mlg_24_05,
Found your topic quite interesting.
I used AutoIT script, to test using IE10.
Open two tabs, with Google.com.sg and Google.com.ph opened.
And I use this AutoIT script below, and it works fine.
Let the system delay for 1 second and just display a count down message and the two tabs keep toggling back and forth..
Anyway, it is just a piece of snippet but I hope you can get an idea out of it.
Here's the code I used:
===================
#include<MsgBoxConstants.au3>
 Local $sText = WinGetTitle("[ACTIVE]")
    ; Display the window title.
       MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", $sText)
Local $hWnd = WinGetHandle("Google - Windows Internet Explorer", "")
For $i = 5 To 1 Step -1
    MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "Count down!" & @CRLF & $i)
Send("^{TAB}")
Sleep(1000)
Next
;WinClose($hWnd)
==============
Every second counts..make use of it. Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.

    thats where you are going to check what it is supposed to be.
    lets say your page shows as SSOL Status : running  you
    probably want to use "if($totalstrng.ToLower().contains("ssqlL status
    : running"))". its
    checking if the html page contains the string you are looking for.
    you might want to print $totalstrng
    and see what you need to look for.
    usign XMLHttp
    or XML object  as mentioned by JRV might be easier and faster way.

    Since installing LTR 5.4, which I've now upgraded to 5.6, I've encountered repeated slowness and malfunctions in operations, especially when using the Compare View function and the Tab key to open and close the right and left side panels.  Such problems never arose during two years of using LTR-4 and nothing else has changed on my computer.  I have a pretty simple system with only a few plug-ins, which are usually not in operation.  I have 12GB of RAM in my Windows 7 PC.  I could illustrate these problems with screen shots if you would tell me how to submit screen shots.  Otherwise I will try to describe the problems in words.
    The problem is clearly cumulative, growing worse as usage time passes.  Compare View feature gradually slows down and eventually seems to choke as my work session proceeds. If I Exit LTR and re-enter and start all over, things will work normally for maybe 30 minutes, but then the Compare View feature begins to become very slow to respond.   In a recent example with my screen full of thumbnails in Library mode I highlighted two images to compare. LTR started to open the Compare View screen by first having the top row of thumbnails disappear to be replaced by the "SELECT" and "CANDIDATE" words in their spaces  (but no images), but Compare View never succeeded in gaining control of the screen. After some seconds the top row of thumbnails reasserted its position and the Compare View windows disappeared. But LTR kept trying to bring them back. Again the top row of thumbnails would go away, Select and candidate would reappear, try again, and give up. This went on for at least 2-3 minutes before I tried to choose File and Exit, but even that did not initially want to respond. It doesn't like to accept other commands when it's trying to open Compare View. Finally it allowed me to exit.
    To experiment I created a new catalog of 1100 images.  After 30-40 minutes, the Compare View function began to operate very slowly. With left and right side panels visible and two thumbnails highlighted, hitting Compare View can take half a minute before the two mid-size  images open in their respective SELECT and CANDIDATE windows. When the side panels are open and two images are in the Select/Candidate spaces, hitting the Tab button to close the side panels produces a very delayed response--25-30 seconds to close them, a few more seconds to enlarge the two images to full size. To reverse the process (i.e., to recall the two side panels), hitting Tab would make the two sides of the screen go black for up to a minute, with no words visible. Eventually the info fields in the panels would open up.
    I also created a new user account and imported a folder of 160 images. After half an hour Compare View began mis-placing data.  (I have a screen shot to show this.)  CANDIDATE appears on the left side of SELECT, whereas it should be on the right. The accompanying camera exposure data appears almost entirely to the left of the mid-screen dividing line. Although the Candidate and Select headings were transposed, the image exposure data was not, but the data for the image on the right was almost entirely to the left of the line dividing the screen in two.
    Gurus in The Lightroom Forum have examined Task Manager data showing Processes running and Performance indicators and they see nothing wrong.  I could also send screen shots of this data.
    At this point, the only way I can process my images is to work 30-40 minutes and then shut down everything, exit, and re-start LTR.  This is not normal.  I hope you can find the cause, and then the solution.  If you would like to see my screen shots, tell me how to submit them.

  • Can a site use cookie info from separate Firefox windows, or just between tabs in the same window?

    Hi!
    I apologize for how crazy my question sounds,, (& for everything that follows), but I'm at a loss as to the correct wording...I hope my explanation will clarify things, at least enough so that someone understands what I'm trying to say! Wish me luck!
    I'm using Firefox 37.0.1 on Windows 8.1 & everything is up to date. The most important details for this problem will be my settings & addons for Firefox, so here goes:
    I allow all cookies, but it's set to clear them when Firefox closes.
    I do NOT save any history or passwords & I also have "Click & Clean" enabled, & I use it frequently, even though I don't save any history or anything else, just to add to my security/privacy, (guess I didn't use it often enough, huh?)
    I have the box checked for "Do Not Track", (but I just learned the hard way that even so-called "nice" companies don't honor this request)
    I have "Ghostery" as well as "Google Analytics Opt-out" enabled, (even though I don't use Google for my search engine, nor do I go to a Google site unless it's absolutely necessary, (I read about Google's penchant for following users everywhere in order to get their preferences, so I avoid them if at all possible).
    In other words, I thought I was protected from tracking-related problems, but I need to know if these precautions are effective when using Firefox & having several tabs open...then opening another tab/window...are cookies & any other info "readable", (I don't know what word should be used here), from tab to tab in the same window, (which just happened to me), & is the cookie info readable from window to window? In other words, do I have to completely close out Firefox, delete cookies, then open a brand new window so that any session cookie info has been deleted to protect my browsing info from being accessed?
    I know, I'm STILL not making much sense...here's what happened, (I won't divulge the site that did the 'cookie abuse', though.
    I had several tabs open, as I usually do, because I was gathering info for research on a report I was working on. Suddenly, I remembered I had to order my hubby's birthday gift, so I opened another tab, (in the same window), to my favorite site & started searching for the items I wanted. I found what I was looking for & was getting ready to check out when I noticed something very odd...there were several "suggestions" listed for items I "might be interested in, based on my browsing", but the funny thing was, I didn't search for anything related to these suggested items! Instead, they were related to items in the other tabs I had open. Scary, underhanded stuff, if you ask me! I always knew not to have banking/financial sites open while surfing, but the tabs I had open were from sites where I was getting research info for my report, so no red flags went up when I went to the site to place my order.
    So I guess the question I need answered is...is cookie info accessible only between tabs in the same browser window OR is it even accessible from window to window? Did I make sense yet? I sure hope so, because this incident has me absolutely flapping around like a fish that's just been pulled out of the water & is just left on the deck! This obvious assault on my privacy has hit me like a punch in the stomach, because I thought this site was one I could trust...especially since I had "Do Not Track", "Google Analytics Opt-out" & "Ghostery" enabled!
    I just don't know how to deal with this, but obviously, I need to know the rules so this NEVER happens again. Luckily, there wasn't any finance-related breach, but my sense of trust has taken a BIG blow.
    If this made sense to anyone, please advise me on the rules of 'cookie abuse' so I don't EVER let this happen again!
    Also, is cookie info able to be shared between browsers, e.g. use Firefox for more personal/sensitive browsing & Opera for research activity?
    Any & all advice is desperately needed & gratefully accepted! I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to anyone else because it really takes the wind out of your trust bubble. I've never been as surprised & disappointed at a company as I am about this. So sad.
    Oh well, learn something new every day...too bad I learned not to trust. :(
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Nuts4Mutts :(
    P.S. If you need anything clarified, just ask

    Cookies are stored in a cookie jar and thus are shared among all open tabs and windows.
    Only all Private Browsing mode tabs/windows use a separate cookie jar that is used for all PB mode tabs.
    Note that session restore stores cookies of open tabs in the sessionstore.js file as part of stored session data.

  • How many tabs can I open at a time when using Firefox 3.0.5 with Windows Xp?

    I tried to open 25 tabs in one window using firefox 3.0.5 with windows xp. It would only let me open 10. Tabs I added after 10 were added, but tabs at the begining were erased. What do I have to do to open all the tabs that I may need without changing the firefox or windows version? Do I need to open a new browser window for every 10 tabs?

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]<br />
    <br />
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
    You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

    There are two flavors of perpetual CS6 Standard and Extended.  Only Extended flavor has 3D enabled if you have the required GPU and at lease 512MB of VRAM and that it enabled in your Photoshop preferences Performance page

  • How to find which authentication used to site collection and site using powershell

    Hi,
    How to find  how-many web app, sitecollection, site used Windows authentication,claim authentication and classic, secure store authention , adfs authentication using powershell code in sharepoint 2013.
    If sites are used adfs authentication how to find which email id used for that.
    Thanks,

    Authentication is only defined at the Web Application level, and the only valid auth methods are Classic (Windows (Basic/NTLM/Kerberos)), Claims (Windows (Basic/NTLM/Kerberos)), FBA Claims, , SAML Claims (ADFS), and Anonymous.
    You can find out what authentication scheme(s) are enabled via:
    $wa = Get-SPWebApplication http://webApp1$wa.IisSettings["Default"] #replace with the zone name you're interested in
    The output will look similar to this:
    PS C:\Users\trevor> $wa.IisSettings["Default"]
    AuthenticationMode : Forms
    MembershipProvider : i
    RoleManager : c
    AllowAnonymous : False
    EnableClientIntegration : True
    ServerBindings : {Microsoft.SharePoint.Admini
    stration.SPServerBinding}
    SecureBindings : {}
    UseWindowsIntegratedAuthentication : True
    UseBasicAuthentication : False
    DisableKerberos : True
    ServerComment : SharePoint
    Path : C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\Virtu
    alDirectories\spwebapp180
    PreferredInstanceId : 42768054
    UseClaimsAuthentication : True
    ClaimsAuthenticationRedirectionUrl :
    UseFormsClaimsAuthenticationProvider : False
    FormsClaimsAuthenticationProvider :
    UseTrustedClaimsAuthenticationProvider : False
    UseWindowsClaimsAuthenticationProvider : True
    OnlyUseWindowsClaimsAuthenticationProvider : True
    WindowsClaimsAuthenticationProvider : Microsoft.SharePoint.Adminis
    tration.SPWindowsAuthenticat
    ionProvider
    ClaimsAuthenticationProviders : {Windows Authentication}
    ClaimsProviders : {}
    ClientObjectModelRequiresUseRemoteAPIsPermission : True
    UpgradedPersistedProperties : {}
    So on this Web Application in the Default Zone you can tell I have Windows Claims enabled, not using Kerberos (so using NTLM), and Trusted (SAML/ADFS) is not enabled, neither is Forms or Anonymous.

  • Use powershell to read Environment tab checkbox from ADUC

    Hello all,
    In ADUC, when you pull up a user, you can see an "Environment" tab, which contains a checkbox for "Start the following program at logon:". Here's a picture:
    What I would like to do is use PowerShell to see if this checkbox is checked for a user. In my Google searches however, I have found that this checkbox is contained in the infamous "UserParameters" attribute.
    My question is, what is the best way to see if this checkbox is checked for a user using PowerShell? Is this checkbox contained in any other attribute that PowerShell can read, or will I need to parse the UserParameters attribute to see if it's checked?

    Hi Kent,
    As a workaround, the script below can help you to get the option "Program file name" and "Start in", if the option "Start the following program at logon" hasn't been checked, the script below will occur error "the property
    can't be found":
    $user = [adsi]"LDAP://CN=username,CN=Users,DC=domain,DC=domain,DC=com"
    $user.PSBase.Invokeget("TerminalServicesInitialProgram")
    $user.PSBase.Invokeget("TerminalServicesWorkDirectory")
    If there is anything else regarding this script, please feel free to post back.

  • Opening Links in Mail, Which Safari Window is Used?

    It appears that whenever I click on a link in a Mail message, it always seems to open up in a new tab on the same window. Regardless of how many windows I have open in Safari, it's always the same one.
    Is there a way to configure this?
    I'd prefer that Mail links open in a new Safari window, or have them open in the last active Safari window.
    Thanks.
    OS X 10.8.5
    Safari 6.1
    Mail 6.6

    Linc,
    Sorry, I think I should have been more specific.
    I have it set to Automatically. When I click on a link in Mail, the link opens up in a specific Safari window, the same one, for each and every link in Mail I click on. Each link adds a new tab to this specific window. Regardless of how many windows are open in Safari and regardless of which Safari window was last active, the Mail links always open in the same Safari window. Each link opens in a new tab in this specific Safari window. Even when I quite Safari (leaving this specific window open), Mail links keep using this window.
    I don't want Mail (or links from other apps, like RSS readers) to open in new windows. Then I wind up with lots of windows, one for each new link. This is what I seem to get if I choose Never.
    I'd prefer it if Safari would open the mail links in the last active Safari window. This doesn't seem to be an option in the Safari preferences. I was wondering if there was some other way to achieve this. Perhaps via Terminal, editing some preferences file?
    I'm not even sure what logic Safari is using to pick the window. It's not last active. Is it first window opened? I suppose I should try that out.
    Either way, if you have any other suggestions, that'd be great. Otherwise, thanks for you help.

  • Is it possible to use Powershell to determine if Windows Server Source Files are present on disk?

    Hi everyone,
    I would like to know if it is possible to use a Powershell cmdlet to determine if Windows Server 2012 (R2) Source Files are present on disk.
    We are using an automated PS script to install roles and features and some registry keys and applications afterwards. If the Source Files are not present, the script will fail, so I would like a# Check if Source Files are present # stage built in
    the script to determine if the source files are present or that an alternate source path needs to be used.
    Is this possible with Powershell and if so, how can we achieve this?
    I'll appreciate your answer.
    - Rob

    Hi Rob,
    I assume that you are using powershell command "install-windowsfeature" .
    I would suggest you add the parameter "-source" to specify the alternate path of thesource file .
    " The path specified in this parameter is only used if the command cannot find feature files in the local side-by-side store of the specified target computer or VHD. "
    For details please refer to the article below :

    The command:
    (Get-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File and Printer Sharing" -Direction Outbound).DisplayName
    shows the display names of the 14 outbound rules in the FPS group:
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Session-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Session-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (SMB-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (SMB-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Name-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Name-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Datagram-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Datagram-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv6-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv6-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (LLMNR-UDP-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (LLMNR-UDP-Out)
    If your output is different than this, it means rules have been removed (or added) to the File and Print Sharing group.
    For example, if you run the command:
    New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "My test rule 2" -group "File and Printer Sharing" -Enabled True -Protocol tcp -LocalPort 12346 -Direction Inbound
    This adds a new inbound firewall rule to the FPS group. Output looks like:
    Name : {06449724-944b-4048-834f-8870b9dce4f6}
    DisplayName : My test rule 2
    Description :
    DisplayGroup : File and Printer Sharing
    Group : File and Printer Sharing
    Enabled : True
    Profile : Any
    Platform : {}
    Direction : Inbound
    Action : Allow
    EdgeTraversalPolicy : Block
    LooseSourceMapping : False
    LocalOnlyMapping : False
    Owner :
    PrimaryStatus : OK
    Status : The rule was parsed successfully from the store. (65536)
    EnforcementStatus : NotApplicable
    PolicyStoreSource : PersistentStore
    PolicyStoreSourceType : Local
    This test rule is of course useless because there's no listener on TCP port 12346 on this particular machine..
    The new rule can also be viewed in Windows Firewall with Advanced Security:
    Now if you run the command:
    (Get-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File and Printer Sharing" -Direction Inbound).DisplayName
    the output will look like:
    File and Printer Sharing (Spooler Service - RPC)
    File and Printer Sharing (Spooler Service - RPC-EPMAP)
    My test rule 2
