Using SNMP to monitor DMVPN NHRP

Are there any SNMP OIDs for monitoring dynamic DMVPN NHRP entries? I'd like to poll my hub router for a list of active DMVPN spokes, and NHRP seems like the best thing to check, but I can't find any MIBs for NHRP outside of the Frame Relay context.
Thanks!
-Mason

Hi
I use these OID for my DMVPN query.
***HUB***
Active IKE sessions (count)
get .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.171.1.2.1.1.0
Active IPSec sessions (count)
get .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.171.1.3.1.1.0
IKE Peer's IP address (list)
walk .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.171.1.2.2.1.7.0
***SPOKE***
IKE History (ID)
walk .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.171.1.4.2.1.1.8
IKE History (reason based on ID)
walk .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.171.1.5.2.1.1.2
I don't know if it's exactly what you want. But if it's not, you can walk the cisco mib 1.3.6.1.4.1.9 in a text file and grab what you want. It's like this that I've found my OID
Enjoy :)

  • Use SNMP to monitor the power supply status of stacked switches

Does anybody know how to use SNMP to monitor the status of the internal power supplies of a group of stacked Cisco 3750 switches?
The switch stack has three 3750-48PS-E switches inter-connected by Cisco StackWise cable. IOS ver 12.1(19)EAlc. A single IP address is used to identify the switch stack. Every time I poll the OID chassisPs1Status (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.2.4.0 in CISCO-STACK-MIB), I only got the status for the Master switch of the switch stack. Is there any way to poll the power supply status of other switches in the switch stack?
    Thanks a lot!

Sorry to refresh such an old topic - but I am stuck with exactly this: Monitoring power supplies of a stacked Cisco Catalyst 3750-E.
I'm using the exact same OID's as described, but the problem is, the information shown on the SNMP output is not correct.
This morning, a power supply of the first switch failed and switched to RPS. Here the information I got on SNMP:

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.4.2060 = INTEGER: 2
As you see, both PS1 (for both switches) are appearing normal. It doesn't even recognize RPS:
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.2.1059 = STRING: "Sw1, PS1 Normal, RPS NotExist"
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.2.2060 = STRING: "Sw2, PS1 Normal, RPS NotExist"
The first switch's power supply died and now the cable is disconnected. LED's of the power supply are out. And still: The switch happily announces by SNMP it's power supplies are up.
Is this a known bug? If yes, has it been fixed?

  • SNMP Probe monitor query

    Hi ,
I have created SNMP Probe based monitor to check the Total RAM free on certain Network devices.
I have total 16GB RAM space and i want to alert if lesser than 3 GB of Total RAM. I had configured /DataItem/SnmpVarBinds/SnmpVarBind[1]/Value lesser than 3467826 to be critical and alert. The other condition is /DataItem/SnmpVarBinds/SnmpVarBind[1]/Value
greater than 3467826 to be healthy.
Once configured i am getting alerts for higher values like 19458676. could someone please help me with this scenario and correct me if i am wrong.
    Jesty Sam

Why you use SNMP to monitor RAM, you can create custom monitor for RAM between 2 value min. and Max.
SNMP is the most commonly used method mainly because it is easy to set up and requires minimal bandwidth and CPU cycles. If your network devices support SNMP and/or if you want to monitor large networks with several hundred or thousands of sensors, we recommend
you to start with SNMP. Besides network usage monitoring, another well-known feature of SNMP is the ability to also watch other network parameters such as CPU load, disk usage, temperature, as well as monitoring many other readings, depending on the queried
    device.

  • Possible overflow for jvmRuntimeHeapSizeCurrent using SNMP?

I'm trying to use SNMP to monitor a managed server (WebLogic 8.1 SP4) and am trying to get the value for the attribute jvmRuntimeHeapSizeCurrent (which has the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.140.625.340.1.30). The server is configured to start with 2 GB of RAM. The returned value for that attribute is -2147483648 which I think indicates an overflow. The SNMP data type for that OID is INTEGER.
Am I running into a bug? Or does that negative integer indicate something else? Since an INTEGER type cannot have a value more than 2147483647 (approx 1.99 GB), what might be the returned values for Heap sizes greater than 2 GB?
If I should be asking this question elsewhere please let me know where.
Thanks for any help on this.

    Hi,
    I Found CR189563.
It seems the value returned in being stored in int variable which should be a long variable. I have explained that in CR. Engineering is evaluating it and right now it's marked for next release. I will keep you updated regarding any development on this CR.
You can get other statistics using other oid

  • IPS Load monitoring using SNMP

Since CPU is always 100% now in v6.x/v7.x - is anyway to monitor the system load (reported in IDM/IME) using SNMP?
What counter can be a good indicator for system upgrade that can be monitored using SNMP?

Currently you can not query IPS senor load via SNMP, there is a feature request out for it.
If you want to monitor load right now you can write a script that logs into the sensor and preforms a "show statistics virtual-sensor | i Load"
This is a snapshot, and I believe the GUI provides an average.

  • Monitor BGP sessions on VRFs with XR 4.2 using SNMP

    Hello,
I have an ASR 9006 running IOS XR 4.2 and I want to monitor some BGP sessions under VRFs using SNMP. However, when I poll the device using the OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.15.3.1.2 I only get the BGP sessions on the global VRF. I have read that I have to create 'SNMP contexts' in order to poll information about VRFs but I am not sure how to create them on XR 4.2. Do you know how to do it?
    Thanks in advance.
    David

    Hello,
thanks to the collaboration of the engineers of Dimension Data I have managed to get it working. In case you are interested in the solution. This would be the configuration on the ASR:
; We create the snmp context
    snmp-server context test-ctxt
; We associate the context with the VRF
    snmp-server vrf vrfTest
    context test-ctxt
    ; We create the community
    snmp-server community test-com RO 1500
; We map the community with the context
    snmp-server community-map test-com context test-ctxt
Now, when we poll the community associated with the context the peering sessions for that context are returned:
    $ snmpwalk -v2c -c test-com 192.168.0.1 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.187.1.2.5.1.3
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.187.1.2.5.1.3.1.4.10.10.0.1 = INTEGER: 1
    On the ASR:
#show bgp vrf vrfTest sum | b Neigh
    Wed Jun  5 08:05:26.286 UTC
Neighbor        Spk    AS MsgRcvd MsgSent   TblVer  InQ OutQ  Up/Down  St/PfxRcd

  • Open Text Content Server Monitoring Agent 5.0 with SCOM using SNMP

     Hi All
Got a requirement to integrate Opentext monitoring agent with SCOM 2012.
Can we use SNMP to forward the alerts to SCOM console ? or can we directly monitor opentext content server with some MP's ?
    Regards
    Madhavi.

That's the point. You cannot discover Windows Computers as Network Devices with SCOM 2012. So sending traps (directly) to SCOM is not possible.
You can think about a workaround like writing the events to the Windows Event Log and grab them with an Event Log Rule/Monitor. Or send the traps to System Center Orchestrator and write an Alert using the SCOM Integration Pack.
    Cheers,

  • Check alarm status using SNMP

    Hi,
Is there a way to check if there is an active alarm on a cisco switch/router (M4900/4948 series and 2960 series) using SNMP ?
I'm looking for a simple quick way to verify if an alarm is active (any alarm)
is there some sort of general OID that gives me a '1' or '0' ?
    thanks !
    grtz
    Thijs

Like a table that hold all alarms. No  there is no such thing.
There are so many reasons there could be an alarm. Hardware state, error rates, utilisation, etc
There are hardware state OID's that can give you a hardware component status.
Usually you will find that you have an OID for a component, like a fan.
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.4.1.3
You can then walk this OID to find the instances of that OID.
E.g, a fan for the device and another fan for the power supply, or a fan for each stack member.
When you know these instances lets say the walk return .1001and .2004 you can query
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.4.1.3.1001 and 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.4.1.3.2004.
    The values returned can be:
    Specific Object Information
    Object
    ciscoEnvMonFanState
    OID
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.4.1.3
    Type
    CiscoEnvMonState
    1:normal
    2:warning
    3:critical
    4:shutdown
    5:notPresent
    6:notFunctioning
    Permission
    read-only
    Status
    current
    MIB
    CISCO-ENVMON-MIB ;   -   View Supporting Images
    Description
The current state of the fan being instrumented.
So then you have an alarm for the fan's.
It is similar for other components like a power supply or temperature sensors, etc.
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseMIB.do?local=en&step=2&mibName=CISCO-ENVMON-MIB
And then there are operational alarms not related to hardware.
For this you need to monitor values like CPU utilization and define a threshold.
    Good luck,
    Michel

  • Using SNMP traps

    Hello,
We are trying to get our Ironports to send out SNMP traps.
At this moment we use a M1050 for testing. we have no test C series and I do not want to pull out a power supply or disk on one of our production systems, just for testing
At this moment the experiences with the M1050 are not very hopeful.
At first the cold-start trap was send out on the default interface (data1) instead of the management interface which we configured for SNMP, most of the other traps where not send out at all. This was confirmed by support and they promised a better behavior for next versions.
When we upgraded the M1050 to version 6 we expected to gain some traps but the result was disappointing. The cold start trap was now send out over the expected (configured) interface but all the other traps where not send out at all.
Does anyone have other experiences with the C series?
    All input is appreciated.
    Regards Steven

There is a known issue affecting SNMP traps in AsyncOS versions 5.5 and above. Look for a maintenance release next week and then try your tests again.
    cheers,
    Chris
Do you have a link to that case, as i have some issues in my own setup. We are using Cacti to monitor our 2 C350. From time to time, we get a timeout on SNMP, but the C350 i proccesesing mail.

  • SNMP Traps Monitoring problem.

    Hi,
Hear is my problem. I am using SNMP Traps as Auto-Reaction Method to monitor some files system. I am already receiving Traps when the file exceeds the thresholds value (when change from Green to Yellow and when change from Yellow to Red). The problem that I’m having is that I am not receiving Traps to reset these values (Reset from Red to Yellow and Reset from Yellow to Green). What do I have to do to receive those traps?

    Hi Santiago,
I am trying to send snmp alert from solution manager to Tivoli enterprise console. I did all configuration based on SAP document but Tivoli team keep saying that they did not receive anything. There is no way i can test on my side that what is the problem. When aler is generated, i see the MTE goes red and then alert status shows " Action required". However if I change the method to email, i receive emails. it is only SNMP which does not  work.
Can you tell if i need to setup special parameter in SNMP method which i am missing. I did the following:
    HOST - Tivoli server
    Trapsort - UDP
    Port - 162
    MIB_DIR = /usr/sap//SID/SYS/exe/run/MIBS
Also is there any settings which Tivoli team has to do for receiving traps? It is possible for you to share the setup document? you can send it to me on [email protected]
    Thanks for ur help.

Solaris does ship with a SNMP Agent out-of-the-box... but it only monitors a limited number of things by default. Or, if you have M-series hardware their XSCF's come with SunMC preinstalled as well: you don't have to install it yourself (and SunMC uses SNMP).
If you mean monitor Sun software like web or directory servers... some of the older versions of those packages did include SNMP support... but modern versions are moving to other protocols like JMX.
In general, the best monitoring comes from installing some sort of local Agent, either SunMC, Ops Center, or one of the many tools from Oracle partners (like Halcyon, who I work for)
