Using Speed / Duration At Points In a Clip

Hi,
Great forum!
I am using Premier Pro (v6.x) and I've a clip that is ten seconds in length. Between the four and eight second mark I need to use Speed/Duration to slow this down to ~10% of the original speed. How is this accomplished?
Many thanks and keep up the great work!
Mark

Clip 1a: up to 4 s.
Clip 1b: 4 - 8 s and apply duration or time remapping for the slomo.
Clip 1c: from 8 s onwards.
You can razor the clips or use keyframes or use a copy from 4 -8 s, apply the slomo and replace the original. Many ways to achieve this.

Is there a way to speed up or slow down video clips using iMovie on the iPad? I do not have an Apple computer...just the iPad.

    No.
There are other apps that can to time shifting, or speed effects.
    iMovie cannot.

  • Setting an out point on a clip

When setting an in point on a clip and you hit "+" it appears as if you can advance the cursor to a specific time when you type in a value, but I can't seem to make it work. Does anyone know how?

hmmm, in the event bowser it does not work for me either, hitting the minus key moves the out point back, but hitting the plus key appears not to move either the CTI or either the in or out points.
A work around that uses the same idea and number of keystrokes.
Set an in point and then using the ctrl d function set the duration this allows you to create a clip of an exact duration.

  • Zoom into a specific point on a clip

How do I zoom to a specific point on a clip or picture?
Whenever I try to use this feature it just goes to the centre of the clip.
    Thank-you.

Make sure Image + Wireframe is selected in the Canvas:
Select the clip you want to zoom in on and reposition on the timeline by clicking on it. Once it is selected on the timeline, the turquoise box and cross hairs should appear in the canvas.
If you click and drag on one of the boxes on the corner, you can resize your image:
And if you click and drag on the image itself, you can change the clips position:
You may need to change the canvas display scale to see the handles after you zoom in:

  • How do you set the in point of a clip?

I'm using the timeline template that has a number of clips flying by and I need to adjust the in point of the clips. To be clear, I'm NOT trying to adjust the point that the clip appears in the timeline but instead the portion of the clip that will be displayed as it fly's by within the Motion timeline.

All that that seems to do is set the in point of the clip on the Motion timeline. Again, what I am attempting to do is change what is seen on the particular clip that has been dropped into this template. Where the inset clip window appears on the timeline is fine but I want is a later portion of the video within that clip to be shown as it is flying by. As it is now the clip is just beginning to show the footage I want as it is flying out of view.

  • New problem/bug when I set in and out points on a clip. Unwanted automatic zoom in on clip timeline.

Playing clips to log and set in and out points for scenes I will use later.  Something changed with the new update and I think it is a bug.  When I hit the I and O keys to set in and out points on a clip before dragging to the sequence, it zooms in on the clip timeline.  I cannot see the full clip time line unless I zoom out which is a pain to do time and time again.  How do I get it back to the way it was before?  It did not used to zoom in and out, it just marked your in and out point as it played leaving the clip timeline unchanged.
I am using windows 7 with Premiere Pro CC

    Hi,
Thanks for your post. I think you are using Premiere pro CS6 as the Project option is included in the file menu and in the video there is an option of project available and visible. Please update your CS6 with the latest 6.0.5 update and the issue will be fixed. The link is provided below. Please update once issue is fixed.

  • Speed/Duration info not preserved when importing from Premier Pro to After Effects (CS3)

After succesfully importing my PP project into AE and adding effects, I realised that all clips in PP which had speed/duration adjustments resulted in blank black screens after rendering out on AE.
I then imported the AE composition into PP as a new project and the clips with any changes to speed were stilll black/blank.
I made changes to the speed of individual clips by right clicking on the clip  an changing Speed/Duration.
Any help would be appreciated, fellas - thank you!

Incase anyone else is having this same issue I have discovered what was causing the problem. Apparently the program Hear by Joesoft is incompatible with the MediaCore service. Only after uninstalling Hear was I able to run these programs again.

If you absolutely must have the Microsoft applications, you can purchase and download them from http://microsoft.com/mac.
Free software suites LibreOffice and OpenOffice offer similar functionality (word processing and spreadsheets).
Or you could do worse than look at Apple's Pages, Numbers and Keynote, which should already be installed in your Mac and can export to Microsoft formats if need be.

  • I love using 'Speed Dail'. But now suddenly it's gone missing. Please help me get it back

I've been using Speed Dial for many months (2+years). then, suddenly one day I lost it. It is not where I can see it.
If I click the Tools Add-ons drop down I can see speed dial is there but no way can I restore the speed dial icon back to the menu bar.
    Please help

My speed dial also went missing... why, I have no clue.
Regardless, I got it back as my homepage for each tab by going to TOOLS, ADD-ONS, EXTENSIONS, then selecting SPEED DIAL, and switching to ENABLE on the right side of the add-ons box.
    I hope this helps!!!

  • Jumping to a specific point in a clip

How can I jump to a specific point/frame in a clip? Example: I know a clip is exactly 3:40 long. How could I go to 3:37?
    Thanks.

If you have the clip loaded in the Viewer window and the Viewer window highlighted, it will take you to that point in the clip, if you have the Timeline highlighted, it will take you to that point in the Timeline. You can also save a few keystrokes by just hitting "3.37." to skip to 3 minutes and 37 seconds, for example.

  • How to change duration of selected still image Clips?

iMove is great in all its simplicity. However coming from the Windows (Pinnacle Studio) side I have yet a few mysteries to solve: Changing duration of a single still image clip is trivial, but it seems impossible to do the same operation selecting two or more clips. Did I miss anything? You can specify the duration and apply to all clips, but I have found no way to apply e.g. 4 sec duration to half of the 220 slides in my slideshow. Cmd+R on 100 still images seems like a fairly unintelligent approach. Hints, anyone?

    Hi
    Anybody?
    I'm having the same problem.
I have 500 stills in my timeline (iMovie 06 HD) and there seems to be no way to change the duration of more than one still at a time.
This cannot be right. Please tell me what I am missing!
According to another thread about this issue, the answer was that after I select my group of stills in the timeline, I should be able to open "Media" and "Photos" in iMovie, and then set the stills duration settings that way.
But the button "Show Photo Settings" is greyed out, so I am unable to set the group stills duration.
    Any help?
    PLEASE?

  • How do you convert .AVI files for using in iMovie without losing the original clip time and date

Hi everyone! does anyone know how to convert .AVI files for using in iMovie without losing the original clip time and date? Handbrake, MPEG Streamclip and Evon all replace the original timecode with the date of modification. This is very frustrating when you are trying to keep the chronology right. I know that if you upload the files to iMovie from one device the chronology isn't a problem, but I'm adding video files from a couple of iPhones and a couple of camcorders. any help much appeciated.

  • Using pixels rather than points to specify the size of a font

The font constructor takes the size in points as its 3rd parameter like so:
    new Font("Times New Roman", Font.PLAIN, 12);
Is there any way to use pixels to specify the size instead? The reason I ask is that point specified fonts differ in size from one platform to another (depending on the systems DPI - Windows typically has 96 while the Mac has 72). Obviously if we specify the size in pixels we don't get this problem.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Peter

Actually, that's the point of using points, to specify character size in a manner fairly independant of the pixel resolution.
However, what you probably could do is to get a FontRendererContext from the GraphicsContext you propose to use, then get the point-to-pixel transform from that, and use that to transform pixels into points.

Just do a search for Handbrake. That will do it for you.
