Using STORE attributes

Suppose the replication scheme is specified as below:

This is a bi-directional, hot-standby configuration. My questions are:
1) Without DISABLE RETURN in the STORE clause, would the DURABLE COMMIT ON, RESUME RETURN be ever effective?
2) Suppose DISABLE RETURN is added to the STORE clause.
a) If replication agent is manually stopped, return services will be turned off. Would the DURABLE COMMIT be turned on by DISABLE RETURN in this case?
b) DISABLE RETURN detects return service failure. It disables return service blocking and sets DURABLE COMMIT to ON (even under return twosafe). Then return service comes back up. RESUME RETURN enables return service blocking. Will DURABLE COMMIT set back to off?
c) Replication agent is manully stopped. Return service will be turned off. Then replication agent is restarted. Will return service be turned back on?

To answer your questions:
1) Without DISABLE RETURN in the STORE clause, would the DURABLE COMMIT ON, RESUME RETURN be ever effective?
No. If you do not have a DISABLE RETURN clause then neither DURABLE COMMIT nor RESUME RETURN will have any effect.
2) Suppose DISABLE RETURN is added to the STORE clause.
a) If replication agent is manually stopped, return services will be turned off. Would the DURABLE COMMIT be turned on by DISABLE RETURN in this case?
No. The RETURN SERVICES OFF WHEN REPLICATION STOPPED CLAUSE does not cause DURABLE COMMIT to be turned on, unlike the DISABLE RETURN CLAUSE.
b) DISABLE RETURN detects return service failure. It disables return service blocking and sets DURABLE COMMIT to ON (even under return twosafe). Then return service comes back up. RESUME RETURN enables return service blocking. Will DURABLE COMMIT set back to off?
Yes. When return service is re-activated via RESUME RETURN, DURABLE COMMIT will also be turned off.
c) Replication agent is manully stopped. Return service will be turned off. Then replication agent is restarted. Will return service be turned back on?
Yes, return service will be turned back on.
