Validation in  BPM  by callinmg RFC

hi
I have a scenarion in which a file is coming contaioning header and line item .Based on the  header field i have to give validation  by taking the values from R/3 if true then further procced othrewise stop.

is either sender or receiver of your scenario R/3?
See, if it is, then it is not a very good solution architecture to do it like this.
R/3 -> XI -> R/3 -> XI -> target
or
source -> XI -> R/3 -> XI -> R/3
If source system is R/3, perform validation even b4 you send it to XI.
If target system is R/3, use synchronous RFC to communicate with it, in this RFC perform validation if data is valid then post entry and return OK message to XI, in case it is not valid, return ERROR message to XI. Then XI can return this message back to source system.
If neither sender nor receiver of your scenario is R/3, then u could use BPM for it.
Regards,
Henrique.

  • BPM FILE-- JDBC-- RFC

    Hi All,
I am doing the File to JDBC(Sync) to RFC through BPM
    Start->Receive(Ansc)>Send(sync)>send(Anyc)>
    I have created like this:
    DT  and corresponding MT
    1. File
    2.JDBC_Req
    3.JDBC_Req_response
i have created Message interfaces bellow
    File outbound
    File outbound Abstract
    JDBC sync inound
    JDBC Sync Abstract
    JDBC response Asyc Abstract
I have created Mappings like this
    File to File outbound Abstract
    File Abstact JDBC_req
    JDBC_Req Abstact to JDBC_Req
    JDBC_res Abstact to JDBC_res
    JDBC_res Abstact to RFC
I have created Interface Mappings like this
    File to File Abstract
    JDBC_req to JDBC_res
    JDBC_res to RFC
while i am doing in BPM i am getting error like this:
Message File Abstact to be received and synchrounous interface MI_JDBC_req_Abstact are not of the same type
Pls suggest me how i can map the File Abstact and JDBC Abstact.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

    Hi,
According to my understanding your scenario is:
    1) Pick a file from some file server
    2) Send it to a BPM
    3) Send this file as a request to JDBC and get back the response....i.e synchronous..
    4) Once you get the response from JDBC map it to a RFC structure and send it to the specified destination.
If the above flow is correctly understood by me then the following design won't work....
    Start--Receive--Receive--Tranformation--Send(Sync)--Send--End
    Your design should be:
Start --> Receive (async) --> Transformation --> Send (Sync) --> Send (Async) --> End
    1)
    a) Define an Outbound-Async MI for File Sender
    b) Define an Abstract-Asynch MI for BPM ....(include in first receive step of BPM)
MT for (a) and (b) shoulde be same...
    2) Define an Abstract-Async MI....this should have the request structure for the JDB
    3) Create a mapping between MI from step 1a and 2...(include in the Transformation step of BPM)
    4) Create an Abstract-Sync MI for BPM_to_JDBC....include the same message-type as that in step2....in the input message (request) part of the sync MI.....(include in the Sync-Send Step of BPM)
    5) Create Inbound-Sync MI for the JDBC receiver...again both the message type should be same as that in the Abstract-Sync MI of step4
    6) Create Abstract-Async MI for the RFC receiver....(include in the last Send step of the BPM)
I hope that you are defining the MIs with proper message-types and with proper direction...same applicable for container variable definition...please note that all the MIs involved in the BPM should be abstract
The error that you are getting is bcoz of the mismatch in the message-type in the MI....please check it.
    Regards,
    Abhishek.

  • New to SAP XI BPM scenario File -- RFC -- File

    Hi All,
I am new to SAP XI BPM,
My Scenario is : the input parameter for the RFC is sent through a file and the response from the RFC comes into XI which is then written into a file.
Here my dought is How many Container I have to create... and tell me what is use of Container...
    Thanks & Regards
    Siva

Well in short I would like to say is
A Conatiner is like a table whose structre is having two fields namely ELEMENT and VALUE so it is nearly similar to decalring variables in the general programming , but here in the workflow terms we call them as Container elements. and Conatiner is a place where all the defined variables are stored with Name/Value pair.
Now coming to the issue , the file which is imported from XI make sure that it has the structure as Name//Type/Value
Count the number of lines and create the conatiner dynamically by using the class CL_SWF_CNT_CONTAINER from the ABAP program  it has lots of methods check it .

  • Avoiding BPM in a rfc to file scenario

    Hi Anirban,
These links are 2 RFC lookups done by Michal and Sravya.
They contain the skeleton code to help you. if you need more info, do let me know, I have called a RFC in my Java Mapping and if needed I can pass that code to you,

  • BPM: Call internal RFC

    Hi guys,
Maybe this is a  dumb question, but imagine this scenario, in a BPM we can call any RFC located in any R/3 system, but can we call an RFC in XI system?
I've tried to import the RFC but I wasn't able to do it... I thought it would be easier to run an internal RFC than to call an outside RFC, but it' seems to be really impossible...
Is there any way of doing it?

    Hi Michal,
    Thanks for your quick response.
The question came up because I'm trying to get a way of having acess to some exception which ocurred during an RFC call to an R3 system.
Imagine the scenario, having a BPM, which has a async receive, a sync send (RFC to external R3) and a sync send. Well, I have exception branches for the sync send (RFC to R3), one for a fault message type which is caught and handled, and another one to any exception which is not caught but which was triggered by R3. For the first case we'll have a message on the R3 side on sxmb_moni. For the 2nd case we don't get any since it dumped.
Notwithstanding another question came up, eventhough we can raise the exception on R3, we can't map the fmt text which were raised on the BPM side. So to go around this problem, when this exception is raised, firing the BPM branch, I then call another RFC on the R3, on the R3 side which gets the fmt texts.
The thing is, I only get the exception which was handled, the other one, which for some any other reason dumped, we don't have any record on the R3 side. So, I thought why don't I built an RFC on the XI side to get the two cases.
I've done it and it's working, but now the problem is, how can I call it on the BPM side?
This discussion still relates to my closed thread related to BPM exceptions.
    Thanks in advance

im configuring an R3 as sender and R3 is the receiver for the same..
need to do this thru' BPM..

    say sumthing like...
receive -> send sync and so on..

    Hi
    Try with this
Reciver step which will listen req from RFC(Sync)
Sender step which will push the request to another RFC

  • Synch RFC--BPM --Sync JDBC

    Hi All,
I am doing a schenario where in im using BPM.
Synch RFC from XI box will trigger the interface, then i will make a synch call to sql server & synch call(RFC) to R/3.
Can anyone please letme know the steps required in BPM.
    Do i need synch-async bridge?
And also lemme know if i can map a ASyncronous Message Interface to a Syncronous Message Interface.
Can i Map source as Synch RFC & target as synch sql & synch rfc R/3.If not how do i map
    Thanks

    Sumit,
I just looked upo into one of my SYNCH AYNCH Scenarios and i have created my interfaces exactly like i mentioned in these steps,
<i>1. RECEIVE step ==> Opens SYNCH ASYNCH bridge and receives RFC request message.
( This will have a synchronous message interface associated with it. A synch abs interface and will be used for the PROPERTY ~~Synchrnous Message in the BPM) We would also need an ABS ASYNCH Message Interface created for the Request Message and this should be used in the MESSAGE ( after creating CONTAINER element) for the same. )
    2. Transfrom step ==> Map RFC request message to JDBC request message. Mappinng between 2 abs Aynch Interfaces
( You will have container elements created for REq RFC as stated in the step 1 and another for JDBC request )
    3. SEND synchronous ==> to send JDBC request and get the JDBC response.
( You will use a SYNCH ABS against MESSGAE INTERFACE , and also, a separate ABS ASYCNH for request and response )
    4. TRANSFORM step==> Map JDBC response to RFC response . Mapping between ABS Interfaces
    ( same as step 2)
    5. SEND ==> Closes SYNCH ASYNCH bridge and Send's response back to the RFC.</i>
Use the Container element created for the mapping in step 4.
In case of Split mapping, again you will need ABS ASYNCH Message interfaces.
Drop me a mail if you need screen shots.
    Regards,
    bhavesh
All you mapping in the BPM is between Asynch Abs Interfaces.

  • Call adapter error --- BPM to RFC

    Hi,
I'm calling a simple RFC from a bpm, and the rfc in turn calls a proxy. At the step where i pass the data from bpm to the RFC i get the following error at the call adapter step:

  • Problem in BPM where Sync Intrf has to send same response to 2 Async intrf

    Hi Experts,
I am facing a complicated case.
           I have the following scenario:
Input File data -> Validate file data against SAP table using RFC FM -> insert the response of RFC FM into custom table using another RFC call -> Send the same response of RFC validation FM as Email using email adapter.
If you see above, the response of validation FM has to be sent to two receivers.
My BPM setup is like this:
Recv Step -> Send Step for validation RFC FM (Sync) -> Send Step for inserting response of validation RFC FM to custom table using another RFC call(Async) -> Send Step for sending email(Async)
Is my above BPM design correct? the last send step is not able to get the response of validation RFC FM. If I put this email step immediately after Send Step for validation RFC FM (Sync) then I get receiver cannot be determined error even though may email adapter/channel setups are correct. However, my receiver determination has two receievers one for email and another for inserting response of validation RFC FM to custom table using another RFC call(Async). Is here some problem?
Is there some better way to handle this situation.
My problem is that I have to insert response data first and then send email.
    please help me!
I will be greateful to you!
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi,
How are you getting the Response back from First RFC call ?
Are you mapping this RFC response to some structure ? If not , it is easier way to do.
    So your BPM will be
    1) Recieve the File message type
    2) Send the File Message Sync (Assumption Mapping is done outside the BPM
    3) Send the Target Structure (some structure of similar of RFC repsonse )ie. Mapped RFC response structure to SAP System
    4) Send to mail system.
So you need to have 4 reciever determinations
    1) File to BPM
    2) BPM to First RFC
    3) BPM to second RFC
    4) BPM to Mailing system
To check the error , you can go to SXMB_MONI->PE->Technical Workflow log and check what are steps/containers are correct in the BPM
    Hope this helps,

  • XI to RFC Scenario: Runtime error during RFC Call

    Hi,
I am testing a XI-to-RFC scenario involving BPM. The RFC works perfectly from SE37; but I get 'ICM_HTTP_TIMEOUT, Error code 402' when I invoke it from XI. On digging through the problem, it appeared that the calling program produced a short dump at the ABAP end. The code is as follows:
    <b>module %_rfcdia_start output.
        "Do not display screen !
        call 'DY_INVISIBLE_SCREEN'.
        perform remote_function_diastart.

    module %_rfcdia_call output.
        "Do not display screen !

        perform remote_function_diacall.
    endmodule.
    module %_cpic_start.
      if sy-xprog(4) = '%RFC'.
        perform remote_function_call using rfctype_external_cpic.
      else.
call 'APPC_HD' id 'HEADER' field header id 'CONVID' field convid.
        perform cpic_call using convid.
      endif.
    endmodule.

communication send id convid buffer header.
      if sy-subrc eq 0.
        perform (sy-xform) in program (sy-xprog).
      else.
        message a800.
      endif.
    endform.
    form remote_function_call using value(type).
data rc type i value 0.

********This is the line where error occurs************

          system-call plugin
                      id 'JAVA' value 'FORW_JAVA'
                      id 'RC'   value rc.
if there is no rollout on the JAVA side which
rolls both, JAVA and ABAP, we return to the
      C-Stack and reach this point
in case there was an rollout, the ABAP-C stack is lost
and we jump direkt to this point
here we trigger the rollout on this Abap side with
      the following statement
          system-call plugin
                      id 'JAVA' value 'ROLL_OUT'
                      id 'RC'   value rc.

          rsyn >scont sysc 00011111 0.
        endif.</b>
Anybody has any idea why it is happening? Is it a network issue? The dump in ST22 says that 'The program "SAPMSYS1" was terminated manually'. How it is possible to manually abort an automatic call?
    Awaiting reply.
    Regards.

    Hi,
Probably because of timeout, it is unable to execute the request ..so it is aborted.
btw, is it a synchronous call ? what is the message size ? the given data to RFC is correct and valid structure ? check the mapping .for this use the data from SXMB_MONI and test it
Check this blog for timeout errors-

  • BPM Application Link does not appear in BPM Workspace (11.1.1.7)

I spent huge amount of time to reveal why does that happens.
All that follows further is valid for BPM Suite 11.1.1.7.
    The scenario.
You developed a simple BPM process with Initiator pattern (maybe by following the "Quote Request" tutorial).
But the application link did not appear in BPM Workspace.
Here i'm skipping any kind of mistakes as "oh, incorrect swimlane", "oh, i did not include the user to the app role" and so on.
At first, you should know about the "feature" - You have to attach task form to the Initiator Human Task to see the App Link.
The simplest way to do that is to AutoGenerate task form (and deploy it, of course).
Else the Appication Link will not appear.
One exception to this rule - If your Task HAS NO PAYLOAD (no parameters) the Task Form is not required (to appearing of the Application Link).
The second find is a bug (is think so).
If you edited the Role that Attached to the swimlane of Initiator Task, you will not see the Application Link.
If you look to organization.xml you will see something like this:
            <ns1:applicationRole id="StartTask.InitRole" isProcessRole="true">
                <ns5:name>StartTask.InitRole1</ns5:name>
                <ns1:processRole id="InitRole" name="InitRole1"/>
            </ns1:applicationRole>
The Application Link will appear ONLY IF THE "applicationRole id", "applicationRole name" and "processRole id" have the same value.
When you edit name of the application role in Organization Editor you change "applicationRole name" and "processRole name" values.
After that "applicationRole id" != "applicationRole name" and the Link does not appear.
    How to fix?
Just edit organization.xml (with external editor) - change the "applicationRole name" to the value of "applicationRole id".
That allows to have value of "processRole name" something like "The Initiator Role" - that value appears in the BPMN diagram of process.
Also you can edit organization.xml with Organization Editor and set the Name to the value of "applicationRole id".
In that case the associated swimlane will have the same name as the "applicationRole id".
    Hope this helps somebody
    Oleg

Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.
If you need to open a local SWF file you will need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Note that the download is the player, not an installer, so you will need to make the file association manually.

You're right, I restarted the server again and again...
I have just opened the sr in metalink, it has been confirmed as a bug. Unfortunately there's no way to workaround. What I can do now is waiting for the solution.

  • Handling fault messages in BPM

    Hi,
I am using BPM for a RFC to SOAP scenario to handle Fault messages. (Please have a look at my previous post also SOAP Fault message )
I have created an exception block in BPM to catch the fault message from SOAP service. Inside the exception block i need to map the fault message to RFC response. But fault message is not accessible in Exception block.
Let me know if you have any idea to solve this.
    Thanks,
    Uma

    Uma:
Let me make clear the requiremt. You have RFC Import(aka Request message) and Export(aka Response + Exception) and you have Web Service with Request, Response, Fault messages. And you want to send the fault messages back to the RFC in addition to the response. I was wondering, If we do the following mapping without BPM, does that fulfill your requirement.
    RFC-Import <----
    > SOAP Request
    RFC-Export <----
    > SOAP Response
    RFC-Export <----
    > SOAP Fault
Can you let me know if you face any problems with this one. I have seen your other thread and was wondering, whats the problem is. May be I didn't understand the requirement properly. Please clarify me

  • BPM synchronous send step - Fault message extraction

    Hello Experts,
I am developing a BPM with Asynch RFC -> synch Webservice -> Asynch RFC scenario.
I have defined fault message in the synchronous interface used in the send step for web service, and also defined
exception branch where an alert is thrown.
In the alert, i want to send the fault text from the fault message. How can i do that??
    Thanks

    Hi Mona,
SOAP adapter doesnt support fault messages.
check stephan's reply @ How catch the SOAP Fault Message ?
    > SOAP adapter does not support fault message.
    > Any fault is treated as error.
    > fault messages are only supported for XI messages (ABAP or Java proxies) and RFCs.
Fault message handling is not possible inside BPM.
