/var/imap/socket/lmtp: Connection refused

Hi,
I have problem with lmtp daemon. How can I a execute it manually?
I've executed:
serveradmin stop mail; serveradmin start mail;
killlall lmtpd lmtp; postqueue -f
But ... nothing works ...
Mails arrived but don't delivered to the mailbox because of the following error:
6FB133AA6609 1181 Tue May 5 20:45:05 email_account
(delivery temporarily suspended: connect to hansolo.galenics.net[/var/imap/socket/lmtp]: Connection refused)
I've try sudo -u _cyrus /usr/bin/cyrus/bin/lmtpd but nothing ...
Any Suggestion?
Thanks for all.

Hi
Apart from the fact it could be any one of at least a dozen things the usual thing would be to do a search of the Mail Forum fist. This has been discussed before. Also its a good idea to post the umodified output of postconf -n.
A quick search for this year alone reveals:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8801406&#8801406
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9065994&#9065994

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8802455&#8802455
That's not all. Search parameters I used:
http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?threadID=&q=%2Fvar%2Fimap%2Fsocket%2Flm tp%3AConnectionrefused&objID=f1236&dateRange=thisyear&userID=&numResults=15&rankBy=10001
Start from here and if these don't help keep posting and hopefully some of the more abler contributors might be able to help?

    Help!

    Update(s):
    (1) problem went away on a reboot
    (2) problem re-appeared at 02:00 this morning, following a attempted mailbfr backup
    (3) new problem on reboot:
    - IMAP now working
    - Overview shows SMTP status as 'Running'
    - SMTP log says: postfix/postfix-script[nnnn]: fatal: the Postfix mail system is not running
    (4) so, try to shut down mail gracefully with 'serveradmin stop mail'

    BUT!
    (5) 'Overview' shows IMAP and so on 'Stopped' and for SMTP 'Shutting down'
    (6) 'Overview' now shows Outgoing SMTP and Incoming SMTP 'Running'
    (7) Try again, says 'Shutting down' for a while, then 'Running' again

  • SP Products Config Wizard fails for Socket Error Connection Refused - New Azure Setup (firewalls turned off)

    Hi all,
    I'm using this guide: "Step-by-Step: Build a FREE SharePoint 2013 Dev/Test Lab in the Cloud with Windows Azure Infrastructure Services" by Keith Mayer 15 Jul 2013 6:30 AM over on TechNet.
    And I'm currently in "Exercise 5: Configure SharePoint Server 2013 in a Windows Azure VM" steps 16/17.
    When I try to create a new server farm following those instructions, the process fails.
    The dialog window states:
    "Configuring SharePoint Products"
    "Performing configuration task 3 of 10" <- gets stuck here for a while and then I get the error below:
    The error from the PSCDiagnostics log is:
    Trying to see if port 14387 is free on machine [my sp server]. Min port we will try is 1024, Max port we will try is 49151

(provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.) ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): The semaphore timeout period has expired
    I've turned Windows firewall off on the SP Server, SQL Server and the AD Server (temporarily of course) and I've given user mydomain\sp_farm local and domain administrative rights as well as full rights within the SQL db.
    I can ping from/to the SharePoint/SQL servers and get a response using the host name for each (the internal IP's 10.0.0.5/6 respond).  If I use the DNS server names, the pings fail.
    However, after the SharePoint wizard fails, I can see on the SQL server that db SharePoint_Config (default name from SP wizard) is created.  So it looks like the SP wizard can connect because the db is being created.
    Is this a timeout issue even though the log file shows "SocketError ConnectionRefused"?
    Any ideas on how I can resolve this error?
    Thanks.

    Hi Gary,
    For this issue, I'm trying to involve someone familiar with this topic to further look at it.
    There might me some time delay. Thank you for your understanding.
    Thanks

    Hello everyone,
    I have some troubles getting email services up on my server.
    The plan is to run an SMTP server, POP and IMAP.
    So far, POP and IMAP seem to be working, as I can log in with different users.
    But there are no mail messages there.
    When I check my mail queue, I find many messages.
    Mostly from [email protected] or [email protected]

  • SQL Server 2000/CFMX 7 - connection refused: connect

    Hi all,
    I have been trying to troubleshoot this for a few weeks now,
    I have looked high and low and tried multiple solutions that worked
    for other people, none have worked for me.
    I have SQL Server 2000 Version 8 and Coldfusion 7.0.2.
    I can't seem to make a database connect in Administrator. I
    have tried changing the port that SQL Server listens on, I made a
    new security role in SQL Server specifically for the database I'm
    creating, I tried making an ODBC connection (which can see the SQL
    Server) in windows then connecting to that, nothing is working.
    I thought it might be the windows firewall, it isn't since it
    is off, my TCP/IP protocol is enabled, I am running out of ideas.
    If anyone can suggest anything, please do this is what I see
    everytime.
    Connection verification failed for data source: IFDA
    java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC
    Driver]Error establishing socket. Connection refused: connect
    The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
    [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket.
    Connection refused: connect
    I'm dying over here.
    Thanks.

    This might be a dumb question, but have you searched Google
    groups? Its one of the first places I go when I get error messages
    I don't understand.
    Googling this:
    "java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC
    Driver]Error establishing socket. Connection refused: connect"
    ..gave me 84 results (ok, a lot of them point back to these
    forums but I still find searching thru Google easier than using the
    built in search) - here's a
    Link
    hth - cheers.

  • Sockets:  Connection refused: connect

    Hello,
    I try to create to apps one is server the other client
    I inserted the code below.
    This is the server code:
    ServerSocket serverSocket = new ServerSocket(87);
    Socket s;
    s = serverSocket.accept();
    boolean b = true;
    while (b)
      s = serverSocket.accept();
      System.out.println("Connection from " + s.getInetAddress().getHostName());
      BufferedReader bf = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(s.getInputStream()));
      BufferedWriter br = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(s.getOutputStream()));
      BufferedReader consoleReader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
      ObjectOutputStream oo = new ObjectOutputStream(s.getOutputStream());
      String str = bf.readLine();

    Client is only listening to what the server is sending.
    The server send what's entered on the console.
    Can somebody tell me what I'm doin wrong?

  • Socket mostly times out, connection refused.

    Hello,
    I am writing my own version of dc-hub in Java. This is my first networking program I make.
    The main class has a ServerSocket running on port 411 and it will then make another socket when someone connects. Although at the moment 198 users are connected, it seems that the server mostly gives a time out when you try to connect. It's not a firewall problem, because I get them (localhost) as well. The server also runs on localhost.
    This is the code:
    ServerSocket serverSock = new ServerSocket(411);while(true) {      Socket sock = serverSock.accept();      new ConnectorThread(sock,P,U);}
    I really have no clue why I and a lot of other users get time outs...
    I'll post the results from the client program (DC++):
    [17:39] *** Connection refused by target machine
    [17:39] *** Connecting to localhost...
    [17:39] *** Connection refused by target machine
    [17:39] *** Connecting to localhost...
    [17:40] *** Connection refused by target machine
    [17:40] *** Connecting to localhost...
    [17:40] *** Connected
    [17:40] <Hub-Security> Welcome to Tom's personal hubsoftware V1.0
    Oh... yeah... I get Connection refused, while my friends are receiving "Connection time out..."
    Again: It's not a firewall or router problem... I know that 100% sure...
    I hope someone knows how to fix this problem, I've searched the forum without a result for my problem.
    Thank you in advance,
    Tom

    All, Im stumped. In fact I have been on the phone with Apple Support and this has been escalated to the top engineers, as I think its got them too..
    Anyway, here is my problem..
    I'm running an Mac Mini with OS X 10.7.4 Server. I have had mail running on it for 2 months or so, without any issues. The mail was actually migrated from 10.6 in March, and It actually went smoothly. I have 3 domains which all recieve mail and they all work (or did up until 2 weeks ago)..
    So the story is this.. I can send mail from my domains, without issue.  imap and dovecot must be working.. cause all the stored mail, can be read with the mail IMAP client.. I can even transfer mail messages from one mailbox to another with Mail client. Sending mail is a breeze, it still works and the recipients still recieve their mail. But I noticed I wasnt getting any mail at all from those mailboxes... no mail, no spam, nothing.. which is unusal. I fired up Server admin and checked out the SMTP log, and this is what it showed for every email recieved: (xxxxxx is just me hiding sensitive info)

    Ok, now what is odd, is these rejected messages are not even appearing in the mail queue in Server Admin. I have no idea why there are not being delivered
    Ive checked my postfix main.cf file and master.cf files they both look ok.. Ive even replaced them with the main.cf.defualt.10.7 and master.cf.default.10.7 files and to no avail... same problem..
    So in summary
    I can send mail out
    IMAP is working on the client end (thus dovecot is) exsisting stored emails can be accessed, read, moved unread etc..
    mail is coming into the sever, but its being rejected. there is NO rejection email sent back to the sender.
    mail is recieved by postfix, but cyrus isnt doing anything with it.. I have no idea where it goes...
    Could anyone shed light on this...

    #   the $virtual_mailbox_maps files.
    # - You redefine the local delivery agent in master.cf.
    # - You redefine the "local_transport" setting in main.cf.

    Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
    The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
    I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
    It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
    You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
    My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

  • Connection refused 61 can't open SMTP stream (10.3.9)....

    After doing a manual reconstruct on the cyrus mailboxes, the server refuses to send or receive mail. Attempting to send email via squirrelmail's web interface, I get the following error:
    Connection refused 61 can't open SMTP stream
    Nothing seems changed in either the postconf or squirrelmail's config file...anyone else experienced this problem?? No email is being received either....

  • Amavisd died? - Connection refused.

    Hi!
    Suddenly my junk mail filtering (I suppose amavisd) died. When I turn it off via server admin my mail gets delivered fine. When it is turned on I read in the logs: connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]: Connection refused
