Variable pop-up using Button Group in WAD

Hi experts,
I've created a button group in WAD to execute a 'Copy' function developed in IP.
This copy function has the following variables:
Order From:
Order To:
Version From:
Version To:
This button group was created as it should referencing my copy function, with a dataprovider of type filter, and under 'Behavior' I have flagged the ' Display variable screen' field.
So when I click on this button, it should give me a pop-up screen for me to enter those variable values.
The problem is, it's not giving me this pop-up screen. Does anyone know why? Or if I've missed something.
thanks

Hi Maykan,
I will give that a try, and let you know how it worked out.
By the way, are you aware of any 'WAD' specific documentation that provied details and more WAD capabilities?
thanks

  • URGENT:  Not seeing the variable Pop-up for Button , on web template in WAD

    Hi gurus,
    In IP I have a standard plan function for 'Copy', which has a few variables defined on the funciton itself (as to be changed):
    Version from:
    Version to:
    Order from:
    Order To:
    Fiscal year from:
    Fiscal year to:
    All of the above variable are created with the following parameters:
    Variable input: Optional (have also tried madantory)
    Ready for input: is flagged.
    Variable represents: Single value.
    No default entry.
    No personalized data.
    Now in WAD, I create a button group for this function by selecting the Command, 'Executing Planning Function (simple)', manually entering my plan function technical name next to 'Command specific parameters', and selecting the dataprovider created for the filter I created in IP, and finally flagging the 'Display variable' button.
    The problem is, on the web template the variable screen does not appear when I click on the function button. It executes the function in the background without giving me the pop-up for variable selection. And obviously since the variables have no default values, nothing is processesed.
    I've tried this with planning sequence instead, and still wont give me the variable pop-up screen..
    I've actually explicitlet entered the variables on the 'Parameters for Command screen', the same screen where you enter the filter for databinding and well as the function.
    It still wont work (no variable pop-up screen).
    Is this issue related to the support pack. We're on SP12 right now?
    If not, do any of you gurus have any ideas? Big points will be rewarded for this.
    Thanks

    In the parameterization of the command, there is an option 'show variable screen'. I am not sure if you have mentioned this clearly, but have you checked this option?

    Hi rani,
       according to  your answer.. i think  you are still using 3.X web application  designer.. only..  in  3.x WAD  you wont get  that button group web item..
      here i'm giving one link.. you just go thru that.. because 7.0 web application designer means. you will get  all the    web items..  same in this link..

  • WAD: Add variable to a called javascript function on button group item

    Hi All,
    I need your expertise regarding the following problem:
    To increase performance, I've decided to hide all analysis tables. To set these tables to visible, there is a button to switch the state for each table.
    Because this function is needed for each table, the function has two parameters for the analysis item name and the new state.
    Unfortunately, I get an useless error message after calling the function.
    The function in script item looks like
    function switchTable(itemName, newState)
    The function is started by a button of a button group item as javascript and the following script function
    switchTable('ANALYSIS_ITEM_1', 'VISIBLE')
    If I enter a without parameters, that will call the function with these parameters, it works.
    But if i try this directly from the script function in the button parameters, the function will be called correctly, but an error occurs and the analysis item wasn't displayed or the sendCommand wasn't processed completely.
    I hope there is a way to call javascripts by a button with variables, otherwise I would have to create many functions with only an other item_ref.
    Many thanks in advance and points of course for any help.
    Regards,
    Tobias

    One short note:
    It's possible to trigger the same function by an html input form button with onlick switchTable('ANALYSIS_ITEM_1', 'VISIBLE')
    and this works.
    Has anyone an idea what's the problem with a normal button item of the button group item?
    Another possibility is a menu item. The functions were called, but errors were shown.

  • Button Group Web Item

    Hi All,
    Can you guys tell me how to get the BUTTON GROUP Web Item in the Web Item list. Iam unable to find it.
    Thank you all,
    Padma

    It looks you want to do this on the web. The first thing to be aware of is the the button group web item is only available in SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI Web Application Designer. The BW 3.x web application designer allows you to do this with javascript. Basically you have 2 options:
    1. Multiple views and dataproviders and hiding and showing the different web items (similar to default template 0ADHOC).
    2. Use javascript. This example shows you how to show/hide key figure elements

  • Creating a radio button group in a column of a table in Web Dynpro

    Hi,
    I want to put a radio button group in a column of a table in Webdynpro. I added a column to a web dynpro view and then inserted a tableCellEditor for that column.. But I cannot define it as Radio Button group. I want the user to be able to select 3 statuses using this group.
    Does anyone have a solution for this??
    Thanks in advance...
    Nakul

    Hi,
    You wont be able create three RB in one cell.
    Create as many column as the no of options is.Here it is 3.
    Create 4 attributes inside the node , option 1,option 2,option 3 and selectedoption.
    Map each RB s keytoSelect to option 1,2,3. Map all the RBs selectedKey atribute to selectedoption.
    Now selection for each row will be stored in the selected option.

  • How can i use Button in BEx  7.0

    Dear Folks,
    Could you help me please ..
    In BI 7.0, for BEx analyzer i see we can use button, combo box, analysis grid.
    If i have a requirement like this:
    1. I have sales report, where it has information about sales person.
    2. And i want to filter that report with the sales person that i choose from combo box.
    For that requirement, i tried to :
    1. I Create a query to Sales info-provider for displaying sales.
    2. I Create a query to either to MD Sales person / Sales info-provider in order to get Sales persons data.
    3. I assign point no 1 to Analysis Grid.
    4. I assign point no 2 to Combo box.
    My questions are:
    a. Is my techniques correct ??
    b. How can i use button to execute filter into the corresponding report ???
    c. Is there any tutorial regarding this ?? Could you share it to me please ..
    Really need your guidances..
    regards,
    Niel..

    Hi Niel,
    You can use the method you specified.
    In Bex Analyzer you have design mode where you can have the following items Button, Analysis Grid and Combo box.
    To work with the button you need to use the Command Wizard which consists of pre-defined functions, out of those select the one which suits your requirement and supply the parameters. As it is done thorugh a Wizard it would be easy to do.
    Also,
    The Button Name displays the name of the button, which is generated automatically and is unique. This name is used on the BEx Analyzer Design Toolbar menu to refer to a particular instance of the button.
    · Range u2013 Manipulate coordinates for a cell or cells in this field to move or resize the button.
    · Button Text - The text (caption) you want to display on the button. You can use this to describe the command the button executes.
    · Command Range (optional) - Specify a three-column range of cells in the worksheet that contains command parameters. In these cells, you provide the same parameters (Name, Index, and Value) as in the Static Parameters, but in the worksheet these can be variable, changing during
    navigation based on query results or on a value you manually specify.

  • Can I put a SQL query into a bind variable and then use it to output report

    Hi,
    Can I put a SQL query into a bind variable and then use it to output report?
    I want to create a report and an item "text area" (say P1_TEXT) which can let user to input a SQL query(they are all technical users and knows SQL very well). Then, I use a bind variable (that text area) to store the SQL statement. Then, I add a submit button and I want to use the following to output the report:
    select * from (:P1_TEXT);
    Do you think it is possible to do that? Any known limitations for APEX in this area?
    Thanks a lot,
    Angela

    You can, but make sure it's what you really want to do. Make sure you are VERY familiar with SQL Injection. Most people who know what it is, go out of their way to prevent SQL Injection. You're going out of your way to allow it.
    You can try using &P1_TEXT. instead of bind variable syntax. Bind variables are one of the best ways to prevent SQL Injection, which is why it's not working for you.
    Once again, I strongly urge you to consider the implications of your app, but this suggestion should get it working.

  • PDF Form javascript for making readonly field by using button

    Please let me know the PDF Form JavaScript for making selected fields(Text field,Drop down list,..) as read-only by using Button.

    Do you want your button to be made read only?
    One starts with Acrobat JS Reference.
    // make all fields in a form read only;
    var oField; // variable for field being processed;
    // loop through the form fields;
    for (var i = 0; i < this.numFields; i++) {
    // process each field name;
    oField = this.getField(this.getNthFieldName(i)).readonly = true;

  • In making a form, I've used buttons for user to select a state. Can I make it go to cities next?

    I don't know the correct terminology, so I don't think that I've posed my question very well.  Employees will be using the form that I'm trying to make, and I want for them to be able to select a city from a large number of cities, and for that city to ultimately show up on the form (not merely in the data that is output.)
    I thought that the clearest way for them to select a city would be for them to start by selecting the pertinent state first.  That would allow the list of cities in that state to be shorter and more manageable.  So I'd like for them to be able to select a state, and then by virtue of that selection, have a list of cities pop up.  I sort of achieved that by using buttons for the states, and then under "actions", I chose "open a file".  Then I set it up to open a file that contained the cities that are options,and set each city with a button.
    The result is that it goes from my form to a second window, containing states and then to a third window, containing cities.  (Actually, there are multiple "city" windows because there's a list of cities for each state.)  But then I'd like for the city that they select to wind up being on my original form.  Is there an "action" that I can choose that will make that happen?
    Or is there a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to accomplish?  Maybe I'm just going about this all wrong(?) Any suggestions would be very much appreciated  Thank you!

    Yes, there is a much better way. I'd recommend using a combo box for the list of states. When the user selects a state, the list of associated cities would populate a second combo box, allowing the user to select a city. This type of functionality relies on JavaScript. If you are unfamiliar with with JavaScript in Acrobat, I'd suggest starting with the following article: http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/2007/js_list_combo_livecycle/
    Ignore anything to do with LiveCycle Designer. If you get stuck, post again.

  • Adding a custom button to the Builtin Button Group of an MVToolbar object.

    I suspect this is not possible, however, I would like to add a custom button to the built-in button group of an MVToolBar object. I have attempted to do this with the following code:
    // Create an array of the built-in buttons I require
    var toolArry = new Array();
    toolArry.push(MVToolBar.BUILTIN_CIRCLE);
    toolArry.push(MVToolBar.BUILTIN_RECTANGLE);
    toolArry.push(MVToolBar.BUILTIN_REDLINE);
    // Create the MVToolBar object using the array items created above
    createLocToolBar = new MVToolBar("createLocShapes",toolArry,MVToolBar.HORIZONTAL);
    // Add the Toolbar to the map view object
    mapview.addToolBar(createLocToolBar);
    // Create the required custom button
    createLineBtn = new MVToolButton("createLine",MVToolButton.TOGGLE,"/i/blue_arrow_down.gif","/i/blue_arrow_up.gif");
    // Attempt to add the custom button to the built-in toolbar
    createLocToolBar.getBuiltInButtonGroup().add(createLineBtn);
    Upon running the above script, the built-in buttons I've defined in the array are displayed as expected, but the custom button does not appear (no errors are displayed either).
    If I comment out the above line and instead include the line below, the custom button is displayed, but of course this is not part of the built-in group.
    createLocToolBar.addButton(createLineBtn);
    Any assistance greatly appreciated,
    JR

    Thanks for the reply, Michael. I understand that the Login.jsp needs to be modified and redeployed, but the question is how to create a new button with the same look and feel as the Login button. Currently we have modified the Login.jsp with a "Forgot Password" html link, but it would be prefered to create a button to match what already exists. I understand that this might be outside the scope of this forum, but I was hoping that someone that has done this (specifically the original poster if he found a solution) could share the relevent code.

  • Radio Button group with images stored as BLOB files in database

    Hey all!
    I have radio button group, my idea is that radio button's LOV must display images, I mean BLOB files stored in a table.
    How can I do this?

    Hello Ken,
    I asked similar question in the past, and I believe the answer is still the same.
    Select List as an option of a Radio Group
    In your case, I think you can use a select list with added functionality, like "Select List with Branch to Page" or "Select list with Submit", or you can just attach an onChange event (JavaScript) to each select list. The effect should be similar to a radio group – as soon as the user select one item from any of the select lists, you can fire some action, based on the select list value.
    Hope this can help,
    Arie.
