Variables of work item text cannot be generated

hi everyone,
In HR Leave approval workflow, When i delete a request the 'requestcancel' event is triggered and the corresponding unapproved workflow 'WS00400078' is getting triggered. I am getting user decision workitem in inbox. When i execute it is going into error mode(red). In workflow log, I am getting the following errors,
1. 'variables of work item cannot be generated'.
2. error in the evaluation of expression '<???>&ABSENCE.VALIDITYEND&' for item '1'.
similarly for 'validitybegin', and 'description'.
and also getting error ' method container for work item cannot be created' , ' unable to instantiate object ABSENCE'.
Please provide a solution.

Hello,
Does this always happen? Sounds like a problem with the bindings. As the error suggests, the ABSENCE object instance isn't being created. Check in the workflow log and check those bindings.

Just add a new element in the task container (input variable) and add the variable to the Task text. Don't forget to pass the value from the WF container to the Task.

Change in Work item Text for Approval Workflow WS14000133

Hi,
I need to change the work item text for Shopping Cart Approval Workflow WS14000133.
I have created an Attribute in Business Object BUS2121 and called the same attribute in work item text.
In PFTC -> Redefine Work item text - > and i have defined the work item text as well called the attribute from the container.
what the problem over here is - when I am passing the attribute in the work item text in the task, I am unable to see the work item text with the Dynamic Attribute but I am able to see the work item alone (not with the Dynamic attribut)
But when i debug the workflow from SWI1 then i can see the dynamic attribute in the Container of the workflow but nt in the approver's inbox in portal..
Can you please tell me - that why is this a strange behaviour that i can see the Dynamic attributed created initially in the workflow container of the Business Object but nt in the Approvers inbox either in Backend nor in the front end...

Change N Step work item text

Hi. We are using the N step workflow with SRM 4.
We have got the workflow working fine and the approval preview is fine.
However, all the approvals have the same text in the inbox "Approve shopping cart from ...... with value .......".
We want the workflow text to contain the approval type from the approval preview.
The text is in the original workflow but it is not passed to the sub workflow and the task that creates the work item in the users inbox.
I could change the task and the binding to pass the description down, but won't that get overwritten by support packs?
Is there any other way? I've tried method SET_APPROVAL_DESCRIPTION in the N step BADI but that does not do anything. It is called but it changes nothing that I can see.
Does anyone know how we can get the step description into the work item text?

Work item text change

I am using standard task 8057: INVOIC input error MM
I want to display invoice number in place of work item text.
we can assign any element present is task container to work item text. But invoice number is not there in container of this task.
I need to take the Idoc number present in the container and read invoice number from one of its segments. Where and how can I do this processing?

hi,
i have never worked with idocs. so would not be able to guide you for anything other than the workflow logic.
i am also not aware how to get the invoice number from idoc no. but if you are able to do that then you can try the following solution.
firstly, we will deactivate the link for the standard task 8057.
then we will create a custom WF which will have the triggering event as same as that of task 8057.
we will activate the link for this WF in SWE2 with BO IDOCINVOIC and event INPUTERROROCCURREDMM.
this WF will have first step as an activity. this activity step will have a custom background task which in turn will call the custom method which will be used to find out the invoice no.
this custom method will be present in the subtype object (z object that you have created).
now you have the invoice number that you wanted.
the 2nd step of the WF will be the custom task which will be a copy of the standard task 8057 wirth some changes.
we will remove the triggering event from the custom task. (it will have no triggering event).
then our job is done.
one more thing needs to be taken care of. i.e., delegation between IDOCINVOIC and ZIDOCINV must be defined. by doing so we will be able to call the custom method of ZIDOCINV in our step 1.

ESS Leave Work item 000000000000 cannot be read

If you can share your insight, it will be greatly appreciated.
The program RPTARQPOST was scheduled with a dialog user with HR specific roles. This is not good as itu2019s difficult to know if the leave was actually posted by the background job using a background user. The incorrect job was deleted and recreated with background user WF-BATCH. But since then the Leave workflow remains in SENT status and when the approver tries to process, the error message u201CWork item 000000000000 cannot be readu201D is received.
How can this item be processed? Is there anyway to restart this workflow?

I think you might have missed to configure the respective task in the SWFVISU txn and for the same external type you have to do the respective chnages in the UWL XML file....

Font styles dont' work in Text Overlay/Timecode Generator

Has anyone every been able to get drop shadow to work in the "Select Font" section of the Text Overlay or TimeCode Generator within Compressor? I don't know if I'm selecting things in the wrong order or not but I've never been able to get this to work. The only areas of the "Select" font window that seems to work is the actual font, it's relative style (bold/oblique/etc) and the size. Color and Drop Shadow effects don't work.

Work item text does not come out

It's very kind of you to have a glance at this page. I encounter an issue that confused me.
In the title of User Decision title, I hardcode a description there and at the end of it I put a variable &1, in parameter I put a variable using F4 help. Also in the task( it is a standard task ), I using 'input variables' to insert the object type's attribute. When I execute the workflow, I load the data, the whole workflow completed successfully. But here when I access to log, I can't find the text that using the variables. Can any one help me? Thank you so much.

Thank you for your time. Like you said, I created the workflow for testing. I executed it using SWUS. I load data that saved before. This is you said instantiate. Am I right?
I checked the 'importing' you mentioned in the task. In the Properties of the Object BUS1006, it is forbidden for us to maintain. And checkbox 'import' is flagged. But for 'Initial Value' is empty. I don't know if it matters as before I execute the workflow, I indeed have instantiate as you see the screen shot above. Thank you.

Work item text not visible in SAP inbox

Hi All,
I have used standard task in custom workflow.
On triggering task, workitem text maintained for workitem is not triggered under title colum in SAP inbox.Instead, workitem name is visible in Inbox.
Can you please guide how workitem text would be triggered?

Workitem text is associated with definition of task.
There is no need to trigger it and it will be populated in the workitem created as part of the task.
.Instead, workitem name is visible in Inbox.

Translating work items text.

Hi experts,
Fort the tasks i have defined, io want to translate its texts, the ones that can be seen next to the workitem codes on transactions like SWIA.
When i go to se63 i don't know hoy to acces to the workflow task texts to translate them. Can someone help me with this please??

Hi,
Login to the system with the language that you are translating for. Open the task in PFTC and maintain the texts there => they will get translated.

Leave Request Workitem error Work item cannot be executed in status COMPLET

Hi All,
In case of leave request application when one particular manager is trying to approve the leqave request he is getting the error message
Work item 000000003046 cannot be executed in status COMPLETED
when i check in workflow log i am getting the workitem id for the dialog task it is 0000000002111
work item id 000000003046 mentioned in the workflows is for my background task which is already completed.
This is happening on production server. Other managers are able approve and reject the leave.
Please suggest.

The workitem looks pretty much okay in SWI1, with an agent (not me, as its lying in some other users MYWORKLIST in portal) defined in the agents tab.
While executing this as a standalone FM, I get this error.
The SU53 as such is not showing any authorization issues. (Please correct me If I'm wrong, whether I need to specifically look out for some messages in it, as I have not used SU53 before).

Container element in task item text and task description inconsistent

We use the purchase order release workflow 20000075: Workflow for release of purchase order
The container element Release indicator (&_WI_Object_Id.ReleaseIndicator&) is used in the PO release effected task TS20000168 in work item text (title) and task desription (body text).
When we release the PO a workflow notification is send to the PO creator, the title text shown Release indicator = Z (released) and task body text shown release indicator = Z (same).
However, we do a cancel (undo) to the release of the PO, now when we view the same workflow nofication again the task work item text (title) shown Release indicator = Z (released) and task body text shown release indicator = X (blocked) -latest status.
In this scenario the title text does not updated with the latest release indicator value, the task body text does. Task work item title text and task body text is inconsistent for the release indicator. When we view the workflow notification at this point is confused with the release indicator Z and X (approved in task tile and Blocked in task body text).
Please help how to resolve this issue, any way to make the body text release indicator does not change once the notification is generated??

This is very weird!!!!! I will suggest you to check the binding such that the PO Object is binded from Workflow to Task and viceversa.

         In the MIRO transaction, after posted the item text will be generated to FI doc. item text?
         Item text of MIRO basic data will be generated to fi doc. item text when after miro.
         But I not sure the item text will be generted to FI doc. item text? For this, it is standard function or not ?
         If yes, it is possible not work?

You query is not clear, please clarify.
If you are asking if the line item text from the PO (that you can see in MIRO) will show on the accounting document and whether this is standard functionality the answer is no.
The text information from the basic data screen in MIRO, will show in the accounting document on the vendor line.

Work item and notification

Hi Experts
We have worklfow configured for Purchase requisition.
At creation of PR work item is generated. For not responding against work item, a reminder is generated for every day.
This reminder is a notification only (contains text item)
Is it possible to convert these notifications as work items? It menas from any of the reminder, user should be able to release PR.
Please advise.

Your requirement is to execute the WI in the outlook not in the SAP environment. Correct ?
Unforatunately it is not possible. At max. you can send the notification.
I have found in some threads that using DUETS you can achieve it, but you need to check the budget for that. Agian it is not advisable. Reason -> SAP system wont have any data of the approver (in the case where the agent/ approver does not have any SAP User ID)
