Variant config for Mobile Sales scenario

Hi Experts,
I am just looking into possibilities for this particular requirement and would really appreciate any inputs
Req: Being able to use variant configuration in an offline mobile sales scenario involving graphics (i.e. selection of characteristic: color should be reflected in the image of the product being configured.)
currently we using ECC 5.0.
the possible option at hand is to use CRM MSA but we still need UI which can handle the interactive graphics.
What other options do we have ?

You're correct - MSA is an offline application, with ocassional synchronization to CRM server.
What we've developed - was on the front end ( UI ) in the Mobile Sales application.
I'm not sure if this can be done in CRM UI ( with ABAP coding ).
I understand your requirement, and to me it sounds similar to what we have done.
You would need someone who know's Visual Basic or .NET really well, to develop an OCX control. Then, you have to incorporate this custom control into MSA.
After that, according to your requirement, you need to build a custom code to change UI based on the user actions.
So, to your point, whenever user changes the values of particular fields ( product type, quantity, status or category ) - the color will change.
I'm not sure what type of functionality you are looking to customize in MSA, but it definitely achievable.

New Forum for Mobile Sales

Hi There,
I have just been involved in a European implementation of SAP CRM 4.0 with a rollout of the Mobile Sales Application to 250 laptops.
As this falls outside 'NetWeaver' at the moment I found that we were breaking new ground in terms of some of the problems we faced. It would have been very useful to have a forum to share the mobile sales experience and to see if other customers were facing the same difficluties.
Is it possible to set up a new forum to deal with this? I have a lot of experience that can be shared especially related to the data rollout within a short space of time using the Rollout Manager.

Variant config for MM quotation comparison

Hi Experts
I have used MM config functionality for a requirement as described below:
I need to specify characteristics values for an equipment in Quotations from vendor. This is required for technical evaluation in addition to commercial evaluation.
Hence, i marked the material as configurable and not as batch managed.
Then i could maintain characteristic vlaues in respective quotation against charateristics for the class of type 300.
Since the material is not batch managed, there are no characteristic values seen in GR. This is OK for me.
But my querry: Is there any issue with this usage?

The procedure is as follows:
Create a Material - KMAT type with Item category (002)
Create Charateristics in CT04 - Zbike, where in values mention the Color of the bile like Red, Blue etc
Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND (ABAP Dictionary it will ask for)
Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - ZBikeclass ( Type 300) in characteristics tab page.
Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment ie assign Zbikclass.
Now go back to CT04 - enter Zbike -go to values- select Red- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Select Procedure enter in front 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Red' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now select Blue- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Editor - Select Procedure enter in front of 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Blue' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition)(For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure) - enter variant Red and Blue give the rates accordingly and create the sales order

Using Variant Configuarion for a sales order

I have most of my solution on VC for sales completed. I am having a small issue on one thing...and I would like to get some suggestions please.
We are not a true MTO site so this really is not a MTO scenario...but there is a requirement to use some of the functionality of VC for the different software options...everything works great except one thing. I have one of my items (this is a power cord and can be a 110 or a 220) that I have as a K class and a stock item(L) and I have the material numbers listed for this in CL24N; all the classes and characteristics, etc are set up. CU50 works correctly, My Class type for this is 300. The sales order works great, etc...my issue is when I post goods issue fo ra sales order, the power cord item does not get reduced in inventory and I need it to. The item does not show up on the sales order, we want it like that; however the power cord needs to be reduced from inventory. Does anyone know a way around this without having to add it as an item in the sales order. We would like to keep it in the Variant Configuration selections.

Thank you for responding, very appreciated. My valuation class and account assignment appear to be correct. If I use this item as a standard line item in the sales order, it will relieve inventory. Only when I am using it as a characteristic will it not relieve inventory, which is what I need it to do.

For new sales scenario what all we should configure

Say for eg. there is a scenario of Sample sales, in this scenario what are the configuration we have to do like new doc. type, pricing procedure etc

          I believe you are learning SAP SD now. I really appreciate that. The question you have asked is not more specific.
          Setting for a new SAMPLE SALES is not a easy task to explain in this forum. Better try to do it your own reading HELP.SAP.COM and ask for some specific error or settings or configuration issues.
1. Create a New Sales document type.
2. Create a New item category.
3. Create a New Schedule line.
4. Assign the sales document to areas of validity
    ( SO + DC +DC)
5. Create new condition table.
6. Create new access sequence.
7. assign condition table to access seq.
8. create a condition type.
9. assign access seq to condition type.
10. create pricing procedure.
11. assign condition type to pricing procedure.
12. assign pricing procedure to areas of validity.
    ( order type)
13. create condition record for the new condition.
14. select/create a new delivery type
15. select/create a new billing type.
16. make sure the above 14,15 are in order doument header - vov8
17. create sales order.
18. check if the pricing procedure is picked and condition record is assigned.
Once u do this you can VERY WELL understand what SAP is capable of and what not?

Profit Center Billing blank in sales order for intercompany sales scenario

It's weird that i got some sales orders which have blank 'Profit center billing' , but carried out proper 'Profit Center'.
Because Billing copy 'Profit center' from 'Profit center billing' in sales order ,so i got error while creating billling.

Please check the configuration. Check mainly the assignments.Before that check your material master and check when it was maintained ie., before the sale order creation or after???.

Error while accessing application of Mobile Sales for Handhelds

 I am working with Mobile Sales for Handhelds. I downloaded a source code for "Mobile Sales & Service for HH using CRM 4.0 SP08" from SAP note 824427. After creating a WAR file out of this code and assigning it to the user through web console successfully, I synchronized. these classes in your JSP file during modification ..
i think u have used these all external classes in your JSP files without importing these classes...
If u have imported these class files , then check , u have properly set path for these library (jar files) in the MI client itself.
If ur MI applications are using some extra jar files , then in the client device , that jar files must present in the lib directory of MI installation.
 These jar files must be set in the classpath while starting the MI client...
just refer this forum for setting classpaths in the client device for additional jar files ...

What Mobile Sales solution for ERP 6.0 ?

Hi colleagues,
I have serious difficulty to understand what is the SAP offering for Mobile Sales solutions for SPA ERP 6.0. SAP is vague and just say there IS solution for R/3 (?).
My questions are in two directions:
1. About the "preconfigured" Mobile Sales offerings or xApps or whatever it is:
    - can we use SAP MSR 2.0 with ERP 6? If yes- are still the limitations described in Note OSS 735727 valid (use only with Microsoft PocketPC2003, PocketPC2003 SE and Win32 )

2. About the "Online" solutions

If I am not wrong you are talking about internet sales for R/3 when you say ERP internet sales, which is probably outdated by now. Nowadays SAP distributes something called as mySAP Business Suite which in brief is as follows:

About MSA HH 5.0 Device requirement- Yes you need to use Windows Mobile PDAs with Pocket PC 2003/ Windows Mobile5.0, Windows Mobile 6.0 OS.

Variant Config w/o Batch Mgmt ?

Experts,
We are trying to implement Variant Config for our business & do not currently manage our products in Batches. I've done VC with Batch Mgmt earlier, however want to know if VC can be managed without batches. If so, what could be draw backs? Our variant config process is purely make to order, no material variants.

Below are the few issues which sparks immediately.
1. When you Produce materials , the characteristics values cannot be tracked at batch level.
2. The configuraiton will be available only in the sales order.
3. Tracking the configured product in the shop floor would be a huge task.
May be the list will grow as experts share their views.

Hello David,
Yes, you will still need IPC to execute pricing on your sales order. This is true for any sales scenario in CRM.
The only scenario where you won't need IPC is working with ECC order in CRM via the LORD interface. However since you are running standalone this is not applicable probably.
What you may not need is the IPC configuration UI (which is a Java web app), in case you are not working with configurable products.
However, for pricing your orders you need the pricing engine = IPC.

CRM 5.0 SP15 is supported for windows 7. Please see SAP Note 1469507
for more information/hotfixes.
The underlying framework version for SAP CRM version 7.0 SP04 is 5.0 SP15.

I can just give the way how you have to define the precondition in generic, but it depends on the context which you have to apply the condition.
$SELF.OBJECT = ' VALUE' IF CHARACRTERISTIC = ' VALUE'
In the above example Object is replaced by config material reg value and characteristic you will be knowing, the syntax should be carefully followed space, IF condition, single quote, after single quote no space but I have given to clarity and for better vision.

A SAP está com 2 diferentes estrategias para Mobile:
1) para microapps, backends apenas baseado em stack ABAP e empresas com plataforma móvel única, a recomendacao é o Gateway como plataforma de integracao mobile
2) para aplicacoes mission critical (incluindo processamento offline), baseado em multiplos backends (SAP, DBs, web services etc) e/ou com multiplos devices móveis, a recomendacao é utilizar um MEAP (mobile enterprise application platform), e o MEAP da SAP é o SUP (Sybase Unwired Platform).
Nesse contexto, vamos às perguntas.
1. O que é o AFARIA ?
O Afaria é uma solucao que faz parte da suite de Mobile da Sybase, juntamente com o SUP, Mobile Workflow & Mobile CRM, que foca no cenário de MDM (Mobile Device Management). Ela te permite ter uma gestão centralizada de todos os devices da empresa, controlando permissoes de acesso (usuario/perfil), bloquear/liberar funcionalidades (camera, email etc), install/update/remove de apps, remote wipe, remote lock, tudo remotamente, On-the-Air (OTA).
2. O que é o SUP ?
Como falado acima, o Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP) é o MEAP (mobile enterprise application platform) da SAP, ou seja, plataforma de desenvolvimento de aplicacoes móveis. Um MEAP é recomendando principalmente no caso de aplicacoes mais críticas e em cenarios heterogeneos em termos de fontes de dados (data sources) e plataformas móveis.
3. Como instalar o ambiente de desenvolvimento ?
Se vc for parceiro oficial SAP, vc pode receber as mídias para ambientes de desenvolvimento como faz para qualquer outro produto. Sei ainda que a Sybase oferece(ia) via site próprio um trial de 30 dias, mas não sei se ainda está disponível.
4. Qual a linguagem utilizada ?
No SUP vc desenvolve em Java, em Eclipse (além da linguagem de cada SDK, no caso de WinMo, .NET no Visual Studio).
No Gateway, é ABAP* + linguagem da SDK movel.
Mas em ambos os casos, existem aceleradores que te permitem criar apps "draft" sem nenhuma linha de código, só com cliques de mouse (wizards no Eclipse/Visual Studio/Xcode).
se for só pra disponibilizar no mobile uma RFC/Transacao existente, dá pra fazer só com config, sem código.
5. O que eu preciso fazer pra saber criar um u201Chello worldu201D ?
Os treinamentos. Ou se virar batendo cabeça. :P
No caso do SUP, há o treinamento SUP511 que a SAP Education já oferece (antes era oferecido diretamente pela Sybase).
No caso do Gateway, ainda não há treinamento oficial, mas para parceiros há o Gateway Hands-on sessions by COIL, que introduzi no blog que vc linkou acima.
6. Quais os cursos disponíveis no mercado ?
Como falado, SUP511 p/ desenvolvimento em SUP.
Ouvi falar tb de SUP611 para afaria, mas nao sei dizer se a SAP Education já está oferecendo.
7. Como integra com o SAP ?
O SUP pode integrar de 2 maneiras:
- lendo um data source SAP diretamente (há um "adapador" RFC no SUP, baseado em JCo); nesse caso, o staging é feito no SUP;
- usando o DOE (Data Orchestration Engine), componente do NetWeaver Mobile Infrastructure, como staging entre o mobile device e o backend SAP. Nesse caso, no SUP, é usado o DOE conector. É essa estratégia que as aplicacoes "standard" da SAP (por enquanto, Mobile Workflow & Mobile Sales/CRM) usam, mas não dá pra afirmar com 100% de ctz que essa vai ser a arquitetura "oficial" - mais informacoes devem sair no Sapphire.
8. Uso somente para o SAP ?
O Gateway sim, é focado em backends ABAP.
Já o SUP nao, vc pode usar para integrar quaisquer plataformas compativeis com padroes abertos como JDBC, SOAP & REST.
