Hi Fiedle,<br>
<br>
Not very good starting point if you cannot write my name properly (5 letters 2 mistakes)<br>
> please check my error in this thread which i was asked starting.<br>
<br>
Why? you are reporting a NEW error. But lets take a look and point to the lines YOU have to read, point to the lines YOU have to correct.<br>
> 16.08.2009 05:00:58 BR0180E Backup devices with and without rewind have the same address<br>
> 16.08.2009 05:00:58 BR0179E Number of backup devices defined in parameters 'tape_address' is not the same<br>
> 16.08.2009 05:00:58 BR0182E Checking parameter/option 'tape_address' failed <br>
> 16.08.2009 05:00:58 BR0182E Checking parameter/option 'tape_address_rew' failed <br>
> 16.08.2009 05:00:58 BR0056I End of database backup: bebgfheg.log 2009-08-16 05.00.58<br>
> 16.08.2009 05:00:58 BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2009-08-16 05.00.58<br>
> 16.08.2009 05:00:58 BR0054I BRBACKUP terminated with errors<br>
<br>
If you take a look at the bold lines, they are very clear. And the red ones give you EXACTLY what you have to take a look at and change.<br>
But it looks like you do not do it. You wrote:<br>
> tape_address = /dailybkpeccq<br>
> #tape_address = /dev/rmt0.1<br>
> tape_address_rew = /dailybkpeccq<br>
> #tape_address_rew = /dev/rmt0<br>
The error is telling you that you have the same tape device for tape_address and tape_address_rew <br>
And you do, and you do confirm it, but you do not change it.<br>
<br>
It looks like you want to do a backup to disk. In that case what you CANNOT do is to change the tape_address to a directory and try the same<br>
you have to<br>
- change the device to disk as indicated on the [documentation|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/0d/d30ba74a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/content.htm].<br>
- do not change the tape* parameters. Those parameters are ONLY for tapes, as their own name suggest.<br>
- indicate the directory where you want to backup with the parameter backup_root_dir, as specified in the  [documentation|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/0d/d309594a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/content.htm]<br>
-it may be that you need some other specific options depending on what YOU want to do, but, please, please, please, follow the[ rules of engagement|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/HOME/RulesofEngagement] for the forums,  BEFORE posting AND Read the documentation which contains ALL the information you needed until now.<br>
<br>
There are some issues with the format with long posts and/or long lines. The preview is correct. sorry. I've reformateed it adding some HTML tags

  • Database Table cannot be found when Verify Database

    Post Author: brentlaw

    I have been using CRW 7 for many years.  I recently upgraded to XI (I have current version).  I can open existing reports and create new reports fine.  The problem is when I Verify Database I get an error message "The Database table <tablename here> cannot be found. Remove this table from the report".
    This happens to all existing and new created reports.  The data fills correctly when previewing.  The problem only occurs when Verifying Database.
    I thought it might be an ODBC driver problem so I upgraded my driver to v 3.525.1117.  At least I think I upgraded it I did not check the version before I installed SQL 2005 SP2.  After installing SP2 it seemed to be fine but a week later the problem came back.  Mysterious eh?
    I am trying to launch a report from VB6 using RDC and rpt file.  I get logged in correctly but at .viewreport I get a generic error message.  I am assuming the problem is related the the issue I raise in this forum post.

    I fixed the problem.  In CR XI Developer Designer window I opened up Database-SetDataSourceLocation.  I noticed that in "Properties" the last item "Use DSN Default Properties": was set to True.  I changed this value to False.  Now this problem is solved.
    I am Not using Windows Authentication I am using SQLServer authentication.  In my code I was passing SQLServer Authentication credentials.
    I opened up all of my CR 7 reports in CR XI and changed this setting on both the Main and the Subreort property in the SetDataSourceLocation dialog box and now all my reports work.  I am a happy camper.
    I don't know if this is a CR 7 conversion to CR XI only situation or not.  Hope this information helps someone else.

  • How to reflect db changes - Verify Database doesn't seem to work

    I have changed a database (MS SQL Server) column from varchar 255 to varchar 1000, but the designer doesn't pick up the change.
    I read that db changes can be picked up by using 'Verify Database' feature. It doesn't seem to work for us though. Is there any configuration to turn on for the feature to work properly or any work-around to refresh the database changes?
    We are making the database connection using JDBC (JNDI) option since the report is being used in a Java web application.
    Any comments or insights will be very much appreciated!

    Hi Wallie,
    Thank you very much for your reply! Here are the answers to your questions.
    Are you able to create a new report off the modified database?
    ==> Yes.
    Do new reports see the changes made to the database?
    ==> No.
    Are the reports connecting directly to the database table, or is it a stored procedure, business view, universe being used?
    ==> Through a business view.
    By the way, after trying so many things, I was able to figure out the reason. Since the report is using a view, not directly the table, the view itself had to be recompiled to reflect the table changes so that the view could pass the changes to the report. It was a very good thing to know. Your last question could have been a very helpful insight for this issue! Thank you so much again!

  • Database Fields Verify Database - By Programaticaly

    Hi to all,
                  I'm using Crystal Report 11.5, Visual studio 2005 - C#,Asp.Net2.0.
                  My task is by programaticaly add the
    Fieldsobjects,Blobobjects and so on. So in design time i just
    add the Datatable in the CR,
    but during runtime i add some columns in database Table and i get that newly added column but unable to add this field
    (Raised error as "Field Not Found") so what i tried is during
    design time in
    Field Explorer>Database Fields>Right Click and Select
    Verify Database after this work my page is working fine.
    My questions is how to do the same work programaticaly.
    Experts please explain.
    Thanks in Advance

    Yes i found the way it's very simple
    ReportDocument boReportDocument = new ReportDocument ();
    boReportDocument.VerifyDatabase();
    Thats all

  • How To Disable Verify Database Message Alert

    How To Disable Verify Database Message Alert?
    I have a VB6 open Crystal Reports using Crystal Reports XI R2 (SP5) and almost every time I open a report, I get an alert message about the table has been changed and I have to click "Ok" to make it goes away. Is there a way to  disabled this alert or set default to "Ok" so I do not have to  click this message every report. Thank you very  much.

    Hello,
    You must verify if the database has changed so you can't disable the message. CR must match what the DB is using or the reports will fail or return wrong data.
    It's odd that even after verifying the DB in the designer your app still needs it to be verify the report. You did save the report correct?
    Also:
    Dim CRApplication As CRAXDDRT.Application
    Dim Report As CRAXDDRT.Report
    Is the report creation engine and you should be using craxdrt.dll. You need to be licnesed to use craxddrt.dll and this may cause problems for you later when deploying.
    Use:
    Dim CRApplication As CRAXDRT.Application
    Dim Report As CRAXDRT.Report
    The mapping is not a switch you can turn on or off but it is Event driven. You need to add code to the viewer section to capture the event if the mapping event fires. Then you can set it to the way you want to use it.
    I suggest you purchase a case on line and get to the Report Design team to figure out why when you verify the report your app still thinks it needs to be verified. Something going on in your report that the forum makes it difficult to debug the problem. You can't attach files to forums.

  • Stored Procedure :  Verify Database message

    Hi,
    I'm new to Crystal Reports and am using the latest Trial version.
    I'm using this against SQL Server stored procedure - which is working fine on SQL Server side. Running it in SQL Server, returns ~9000 rows, using 58 columns, in about 9secs.
    When I try to run this in Crystal Reports, grouping, filtering and designing the report with about 10 fields I get the message:
    "One or more fields could not be found in the result set. Use Verify Database to update the report."
    I've verified the database and everything is up to date.
    I've tried only putting individual fields into the report and this is working fine.
    I've used the Set Database Location and it's pointing to the right location, but I've tried updating this just in case.
    Are there any limits that need to be adjusted within Crystal Reports?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Amrit

    Please re-post if this is still an issue or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly:

    You may have to check for null values.

  • Verify Database not working!

    Hello everyone,
    I have a requirement for a database to be verified everytime the report is run, because of the dynamic nature of the data behind the report.  However, the ReportClientDocument.verifyDatabase() is not behaving as I think it should.  I assume it should behave the same as using the 'Verfy Database' comand within CR2008.
    NOTE:  The report works PERFECTLY without the verifyDatabase() command.  But because of the dynamic nature of the data you have to keep using 'Verify database' via the CR2008 designer!  This is not sustainable.
    Here is my JSP, I will post the error separately for readability:
      //SOME IMPORT DONE HERE
      CrystalReportViewer crystalReportViewer;
      ReportClientDocument reportClientDocument;
      Object reportSource;
      ParameterFieldController parameterFieldController;

      if (reportType == null) {
        reportSource = session.getAttribute("reportSource");
      else {
       String reportPath = request.getParameter("report");
       String DB_USER_NAME = new String(Base64.base64ToByteArray(request.getParameter("dbusername")));
       String DB_PASSWORD = new String(Base64.base64ToByteArray(request.getParameter("dbpassword")));
       reportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
       reportClientDocument.open(reportPath, OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
       reportClientDocument.getDatabaseController().logon(DB_USER_NAME, DB_PASSWORD);
       IStrings subreportNames = reportClientDocument.getSubreportController().getSubreportNames();
      for (int i = 0; i < subreportNames.size(); i++) {
        ISubreportClientDocument subreportClientDoc = reportClientDocument.getSubreportController().getSubreport(subreportNames.getString(i));
        subreportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().logon(DB_USER_NAME, DB_PASSWORD);
        reportClientDocument.verifyDatabase();
    // SOME PARAMETERS SET HERE
      reportSource = reportClientDocument.getReportSource();
      reportClientDocument.close();
    Does anyone have any examples of how to use the verifyDatabase, or can you see where I am going wrong?
    Best Regards

    Hi Sergey,
    It seems to be a known issue when special characters are used in the password of your user in Oracle.
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1638205
    Try changing the password so it does not contain any special characters.

    Julian

  • ORA-2020 when trying to verify database links

    I have a problem with verifying database links. I want to create a procedure for checking all database links. this is done like the following:
    declare
    xRefCursor sys_refcursor;
    cursor cDBLinks is
    select db_link
    from user_db_links;
    nDummy number;
    begin
    for rL in cDBLinks loop
    begin
    open xRefCursor for 'select 1 from dual@'||rL.db_link;
    fetch xRefCursor into nDummy;
    close xRefCursor;
    dbms_output.put_line(rL.db_link||' established');
    exception
    when others then
    if xRefCursor%isopen then
    close xRefCursor;
    end if;
    dbms_output.put_line(rL.db_link||' error '||sqlerrm);
    end;
    end loop;
    end;
    when running the procedure, I get a ORA-2020 : too many database links in use
    Cause: The current session has exceeded the INIT.ORA OPEN_LINKS maximum.
    Action: Increase the OPEN_LINKS limit, or free up some open links by committing or rolling back the transaction and canceling open cursors that reference remote databases
    exact after the count of database links specified in the OPEN_LINKS parameter. As you can see I don't issue any transaction, and also I close every cursor I open...so there should be just one db link active in time. note that increasing the OPEN_LINKS parameter will not be a good solution, as I can't tell how much links are existing for a user.
    any suggestions?
    regards
    Christian
    oh, forgot to mention: tried this with 9.2.0.6 and 10.2.0.3 on WINDOWS (so I believe this also occurs in 9.2.0.6 <= DBVersion <= 10.2.0.3)

    As you can see I don't issue any transaction, and also I close every cursor I
    open...so there should be just one db link active in time.This is wrong assumption. The closing of the cursor does not mean DB link will be closed too. You have to close database link explicitly.

  • Unknown Query Engine Error when doing a Verify Database

    Hi there,
    Using Crystal 10. Sybase Server.
    Have built a report that connects to a stored procedure. The stored procedure has since been updated, and new fields have been added.
    Usual process for me is to simply:
    1. Go to Database > Verify Database
    2. Enter login credentials for server
    3. Enter parameter values (as per stored proc)
    4. Report is then updated and new fields display
    Currently, I am able to complete step 3. As soon as I hit ok, i get an 'Unknown Query Engine Error' - to which I can only hit OK. Doing so results in no changes - and the new fields of course do not display.
    Any clues on what might be going wrong? I am guessing that it is something to do with the stored proc itself - but perhaps it is some sort of permissions issue?
    Grateful for any assistance you can provide. Please let me know if you need any more info from me.
    Many thanks,
    Corinne

    Likely due to some field type defined incorrectly or not supported. Try creating a new report off the new update connection info. If that fails also then it's the data source causing the problem.

  • A verify database for the reports even if we have created it using business

    Hi All
    Just a quick question.
    Do I need to do a verify database for the reports even if we have created it using business views?
    I am asking this bcoz we have added some new elements with formulas and we don't see them in crystal reports.
    Any ideas are welcome.
    Thnaks in advance
    -AG

    Hi
    Yes, you can do that to ensure that Crystal Report checks for the changes.

    Check your SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES settings in sqlnet.ora file.
