Verizon Disability Policy

My son is legally blind.   When we went to the Verizon store  to replace his VX9100 (the enV) we were told that the new model required a data plan.  Since my son is blind he would have been unable to use the internet feature of the phone.
We asked if the existing model of the phone was available and we were told that it was not.
We then asked he sales person if the data plan would be required if we obtained the same enV model.   We were told that a data plan would not be required.
When we went to activate the replacement phone Verizon Wireless told us we would incur a $9.95 data plan usage charge.
It seems to me unethical to charge a blind cell phone user a fee for service which he cannot possible user.
I'm hoping that someone at Verizon will allow my son to go back to his old plan without the data usage.

freedomsearcher wrote:
seriously though, they can't require a person that is blind to pay for something they litterally CAN'T use.  I would take this to a manager< I happen to know that with a full data plan you can remove required plan.  This generally stops picture messages.  But I think it will work in your situation.  The full data block, and a data plan cannot exist together it will auto remove the pkg.
Definitely call a manager, but know that people here have been told that the full data block (called a Nationwide Access block) will NOT remove the mandatory data charge on 3GMM phones that require it.
Should exceptions be made for people with disabilities?  Probably.  Will Verizon do it?  Probably not without a lot of fighting on your end.  If they can require people who never use data to purchase it, that's absolutely no different than requiring a blind person who never uses data to purchase it.  After all, you could use your 25MB/month to listen to some music, couldn't you?
Good luck, and try to get your issue escalated past the basic CSRs at *611, try for a regional manager, I know some folks with mandatory data issues have had success at that level.

  • Verizon return policy

Apparently for Verizon, policy trumps customer satisfaction.  I just found out the hard way that Verizon's retail policy is if you fail to return an item in 2 weeks, you're out of luck.  I bought an $18 case at a store pretty far from me because I happened to be shopping in the vicinity.  Tried to return it to a more local Verizon store and was told I had to return it to the store I bought it from.  But I didn't get there in time.  I pay for 7 freakin' devices each month and they stiff me for $18!!  Next time contract renewal comes up I'll definitely be shopping around.  Make no mistake.

My husband and I are also having a major hassle with the Verizon return policy. My husband is an over-the-road truck driver who only gets home about every three weeks. The last time he was home, we went to the Verizon store and got him a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone. We also bought a LifeProof Fre case for the phone which cost $96.06. A few days after the purchases, my husband hit the road with the phone and case. The phone seems to be fine, but the case is a real dud. The case has to be registered in order to take advantage of the Total Water Protection Plan and even after three days of trying (and yeah, I'm a techie gal!) I was never able to complete the registration (a draconian process that requires, among other things, an upload of the receipt and a screenshot off the phone). To top it off, the "Off" button on the side of the case doesn't work well (you have to push it numerous times and hold your mouth just right) and the fingerprint-recognition function is so erratic with the case on the phone that my husband finally just turned it off. It didn't take long to figure out that we wanted to return the crummy LifeProof case and get a refund. Unfortunately, my husband has the case with him on the road and I have the box and the junk that came in it at home in North Carolina. My husband went to a Verizon store in Fargo, North Dakota last night and tried to return the case, but they wouldn't take it without the box. I even offered to mail the box to the store, but they wouldn't accept that as a solution. As I'm writing this, my husband is running around in Fargo this morning trying to find a place to ship the case home to me so I can reunite it with the box and return it to the store where we bought it. We only have a measly 14 days from the date of purchase (which was over a week ago) or we will be stuck holding the bag on an expensive case that isn't worth a toot. My husband is worried about bashing around the country without a case on his phone, so he's planning to go to Target to buy one he can use after he ships the LifeProof case back to me. Unlike Verizon, Target has great customer service, a great return policy that works for real people who lead busy and complicated lives, and any Target store will take back merchandise purchased at any other Target store. While we're pretty much stuck with data and phone plans from Verizon because they have the best coverage in far-flung parts of the nation, we have agreed that we'll never again purchase any retail items like phone accessories from Verizon. I spent hours on the phone with Verizon yesterday trying to get an extension on the time they'll give us to return the LifeProof case, but even after going up the food chain and talking to three different customer service employees, the answer was always,"No, we have a strict policy about returns and we won't do anything to help you." We've come to believe that all Verizon cares about is rigidly enforcing their ridiculous policies (hey, they make more money if their customers can't return merchandise!). After this experience, we certainly don't feel like Verizon cares about customer service and satisfaction.

  • Verizon Privacy Policy?

Regarding the Verizon Privacy Policy- there seems to be a huge omission; namely, what is your policy on requests from the government for customer data? Back in 2006, Verizon, and other major phone carriers, at the request of the NSA or Homeland Security?, gave these Fed agencies tons of customer info, secretly. Verizon Corp had the opportunity to say "NO", but did not. When this invasion of privacy was made public, lawsuits were brought against Verizon. How did that work out? May I suggest, that in the future, when ever the Feds want information, let your customers know. Is it necessary to keep it a secret? The message about "protecting your privacy is serious business" blah blah blah, is warm fuzzy baloney and everyone knows it.  Keeping your customers truthfully informed will keep us on your side.
I apologize for any errors of fact.
    Sincerely,
    JBX

Well it is out in the open and Verison is named.  We expect privacy on our phone calls.  If you can not provide that you should inform your customers.  We should not hear about it in the news.  I thing the goverment and verison has gone too far.  What has happen to the right to our privacy.  If you can not fix this I think alot of your customers will be changing services.  You could of said NO to the goverment.

  • Verizon Upgrade Policy Change

Just thought you guys may be interested in the latest development in Verizon's move to make everyone angry. Apparently they plan on ditching annual upgrades and no longer giving the additional NE2 discount for those eligible on contracts started after Jan 16th.  They better ramp up their OS update testing otherwise a lot of people aren't going to be happy with keeping a phone for 2 years with slow updates.

Let me go ahead and post the text from that image, which is not a ToS violation:
    2011 Upgrade Policy:
    Overview
Verizon Wireless is simplifying the equipment upgrade policy for customers. Beginning January 16th, 2011, customers will be eligible for promotional pricing as well as special offers that we make available. Changes include retirement of the following programs:
    - Annual Upgrade: Customers on 2-yr contracts will no longer be able to upgrade in months 13-20 of their 24 month contract as a standard policy.
    - New Every Two (NE2): Customers will no longer be enrolled in NE2 at the time of activation/upgrade after January 16th.
Remember, both of these programs are for customers on 2-year contracts only. So customers on 1-year contracts are not impacted by these changes.
This training will help you understand the changes and provide you helpful information when explaining them to our customers.
Please feel free to edit your original post if you want to copy/paste the above, PJ.

  • Verizon refund policy after cancellation of service it is really really bad!!!!!

I would like to share my thought here.
I am previous verizon customer (internet and TV). Service is good.
After i cancelled my service verizon took more than 4 months to process the refund (which verizon has owe me).
Will verizon will accept if i do not pay my bill for 4 months? I am pretty sure NO and they will send to collection agency or they will spoil my credit report.
This is really very bad  for reputed company like verizon and i strongly recommend they should change this type of  policy..
    Thank you

No.  Till now i did not get my refund. Please help me to escalate it. I tried customer care multiple times and there is no answer. It is funny that verizon is going to be rich for  just for $92
    Thank you

  • Use Pop-up Blocker disabled policy not working via IE Administrative Templates on Server 2012.

I'm finding I can't make any adjustments to the pop-up blocker setting at all.
I've set Internet Explorer/Internet Control Panel/Security Page/Trusted Sites Zone and the option in there for "Use Pop-up Blocker" to be disabled. As for trusted sites we want to allow pop ups. however after saving this and using GPupdate /force
from a command line and restarting the policy is not applying.
We also tried adding the sites in question to Internet Explorer/Pop-Up Allow List when we found that the trusted sites zone setting was not working but it also does not work that way either.

    Hi,
You have to configure Pop-up blocker settings both in Trusted Sites Zone and Intranet Zone.

I want to disable some policy rules with a post-db-creation sql script.
    Is this possible?
Can You provide me a how to?
    Or a link?

The only way to do this, is to remove the policy rules from the target within OEM, or by disabling them.

What I'm not clear on is, will I lose the NE2 discount I now have in my account after 1/16? I don't think so - but once you upgrade after 1/16, your NEXT upgrade will not have the NE2.  I've been holding off on upgrading to see what sort of phones are coming Q1 of this year - but if I'm going to lose the $100 credit, maybe I should just jump on either a DX or Fascinate. It won't "expire" - and those who upgrade up until 1/16 will still get the NE2 on their next 20 month upgrade; that will stop being part of the deal on 1/16.  (That's how I'm reading it anyway).
I hope they give us several days warning on this, with ALL details, so folks like me can make an informed decision on what to do.  If you upgraded prior to 1/16, and have an NE2 coming 20 months from that date, it will still be honored.  I think you'll be fine, TedKord.  But you are right  - it's getting close to policy changing, and advance notice would be nice.  My NE2 is coming up 1/10/11, and if I'm reading it right, if I upgrade before 1/16/11 I'll get another NE2 credit in 20 months.  If I dilly-dally and wait till after 1/16, I'll get my $50 this time but that's it.  It would be nice to know for sure what my situation is...

  • OAM Policy Protecting URLs despite being disabled

I have run into a situation where OAM is configured to protect a URL, however the policy is not enabled.
Despite this, the webserver is still acting as though the policy is enabled.
I have tried the following steps without success:
enable/disable policy (I see the policy is being updated correctly in the OID Policy Store)
    recycle Policy Manager
    recycle Access Server
    recycle Identity Server
    recycle OID (configuration policy store)
I realize that I can "disable" the policy by just commenting out of webserver config.
    Anyone else have ideas?

There can be a multiple ways to troubleshoot this issue :
    (1) Access Tester : Try to see if any policy is getting applied to the url ( where you see the issue )
    (2) On server webgate :
see the logs when you are trying access the url . This will tell you if your resource is protected and what going on .
Finally , just Comment out the Webgate config in you httpd.conf file and see if you are still able to access the site.

  • Why doesn't Verizon tell you about "Plan B" when your phone is stolen?

They pretty much want to disable the phone as soon as it's stolen, but there are options for locating it (though I wouldn't go there without a police officer).
Could possibly have retrieved my DroidX and friend's IPod Touch if they'd been more forthcoming. Instead, looks like they are just trying to sell more phones on the backs of petty thieves.
(Plan B is at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb&feature=search_result&rdid=com.lookout.labs.planb&rdot=1, BTW.)
Also recommend getting "Where's My Droid" --- helps you find phone if you just misplaced it, and gets GPS coordinates if it's been lost or stolen.

While you do make a good point, it's not quite the Black Helicopter scenario you'd like to think it is....(But since it's a popular pastime to make Evil conjecture about those that think differently than we do, go ahead and indulge yourself....)
It is Verizon's policy to NOT officially support the 3rd party apps available in the various App Markets. Part of that is to absolve themselves of the liability brought on by bad apps causing havoc on your phone (they do exist, I know). The other part is to not show certain favoritisms to various app developers, of which there are thousands. Hell, for a long time, that's why AT&T (if I understand what I read a whikle back) didn't carry Android phones because they didn't want to allow 3rd party apps on their phones. I don't know Apple's official policy on apps for the i-Whatevers, but Apple does vet out the app they allow pretty seriously.
At least, this is how I have interpreted the various explanations on the subject.
Right or wrong, there's your answers (among others). And I do agree with your point. It would help us locate a certain grandson's missing Samsung phone at the moment...

  • Let's see how this ends.. Verizon's integrity. This could affect YOU. **Important**

Hi all, I'm sorry to have to make my first post about such a subject, but I am a fairly new customer to Verizon and I've uncovered something pretty ugly about the company, I guess we'll see if they make it right or not.
    The situation:
I had my iPhone stolen on the 7th of Feb 2013 (a week or so ago). I wasn't too worried about it, because I'd called to get insurance added shortly after receiving my iPhone 5.
I completed the necessary steps (find myy iPhone app, no luck there so I erased my iphone remotely, to protect my data, reported the theft to police)
Then, I called Verizon to file an insurance claim.. this is where I come to a screeching halt.
The rep I spoke to, tells me that my phone is not insured. This can't be right.. I definitely insured it. I asked the rep to double check. Nope, no insurance. Then I asked them why the insurance wasn't added, and they were able to find the notes from the call I had, when I insured the phone. Problem solved.
After putting me on hold for a while, the rep comes back and tells me "although the phone is technically uninsured, Verizon have agreed to give you a new iphone 5, at a discounted price, so you will pay the same cost that you would have paid with insurance. The cost of the deductible." - please note, when I quote the rep, it may not be verbatim.
    So that's a relief! Great..
The rep puts me on hold again while she goes to order my new phone for me.
After some time she comes back again and tells me "I'm so sorry but the iphone 5 is on back order, so I'm not able to put the order in for you. You would be better off going to your local Verizon store, where they will be able to give you the phone at the promised price"
I was a little worried that the store would not be able to, but when I asked about that, the rep assured me "Don't worry, they will be able to see the notes. I am notating your account that you will be getting your new iPhone 5 at the same price of the deductible."
It's not easy for me to get time to go out to the Verizon store, but I decide to make the trip, it seems worthwhile, to get my replacement phone on the spot.
A couple of days after the phone call with the rep, I found the time to go to the store, but when I got there, they seemed confused and after quite a bit of time, finally refused to give me the iphone 5, telling me that it's not possible and that I need to order it through customer service.
So I call customer service again.
This time I speak to another rep, who tells me that they cannot in fact give me the iphone at the discounted rate. She started from scratch even though I asked her to look at the notes so we didn't have to go through everything again.
She starts to question the other rep's decision, saying that the other rep was in a different part of the company, and "maybe that's how they do things there". I tried to explain to her that while they may have different departments, I expect them to all be "Verizon". As far as the customer is concerned, every part of Verizon should represent the company as a whole, not as this branch of customer service versus another.
By this time I'd become increasingly frustrated,  having been led in circles, told something different by each person I spoke with, and having wasted a substantial amount of time on the phone and driving to the store, talking to the people at the store, back on the phone etc. so I asked to speak to a manager about the issue to try to get it resolved once and for all.
The manager got on the phone and from the start seemed very confrontational. Maybe I got him on a bad day, or maybe he just loved to fight.. either way, things did not go smoothly.
He started out by trying to twist the blame of not having insurance on the phone, back around onto me even though Verizon had previously accepted responsibility.
I asked him how he could justify this being my fault, and his answer blew me away.. "well, you should have looked to make sure the insurance had in fact been activated" So disgusted I was at this point, by the sheer lack of professionalism. But still I kept my composure, and calmly asked him if Verizon's policy was to have it's customers check to make sure they did their job.
He basically latched onto that idea, that it was my responsibility to check it and make sure the insurance had been applied. I could not believe it.. aghast, I just told him that it was irrelevant anyway, because Verizon had already accepted the responsibility and promised me a replacement at the same cost as a deductible.
To that, he replied: "Well, I'm not going to honor that. Our rep could offer you a million dollars. Do you expect me to honor that too?"
Think about this for a second.. Clearly, a customer service representative offering to replace a phone because of an error made by the company she represents is not the same as a rep offering me a million dollars. This guy was just completely adamant on helping me, and it seemed to me it was more about "winning the argument" than anything else for him.
I knew I would not get anywhere with him, so I asked him to please escalate the case. His reply to that was: "I'm as high as you're ever going to get, speaking to Verizon. I'm it.. it doesn't get escalated higher than me. My decision is final"
I asked one more time, what what the official reason is for not honoring the other reps promise, and how he could justify not doing it even though it had been offered to me. (Now, I'd like to add, this promise was not something I'd imagined or made up. It was actually written in the notes, that I had been offered the replacement for the same cost as a deductible. I confirmed this by going on chat to speak with a sales rep later that day, and I had the rep go into my account and confirm that this promise was made. I also had them email me the chat transcript, so I had something in writing.. I have evidence of this promise.)
His answer was simply: "That offer is no longer on the table" - That part is verbatim. I remember clearly those were his exact words. That offer is no longer on the table. I asked for him to clarify, but he just repeated, "That offer is no longer on the table", followed by "..and there's nothing you can do about it."
In all my life, I have never seen a large company like Verizon behave in this way. It has been extremely the most stressful dealing I have ever endured with a company of this scale.
Now, a week later I still have no resolution. I'm currently without a phone, which is a very big deal for me, because I have two young daughters in Australia, who have my number memorized as an emergency contact and they call me and speak to me often. I miss them a lot, and after having not seen them for over a year, speaking to them on a daily basis has become something that's very important to me, and to my girls.
I'm hoping and praying someone from Verizon will read this, and help me, or maybe some of you on the forum may have some idea on what to do at this point.
Thank you so much for reading, thank you for your time, please comment, or let me know if you have any advice for me. I'll be posting this on several other sites as well.
Along with hoping to get some help with my situation, I'm also hoping others who read this will be cautious about trusting the word of your Verizon rep, and please get everything in writing, (although even if I had my offer in writing, I have no idea how it would help.)
I plan also to open a case with Consumer Affairs, as well get my story out there on a large scale via certain media.
    Thanks again
    Aloha

Verizon staff, if you're reading this, I hope that you will see it as an opportunity to show other customers and potential customers that this type of thing is not your usual way of treating customers.
I hope that you see it as a chance to prove Verizon's integrity.
I will be updating this thread, to let people know how the situation is handled from this point on.
I have not yet posted this in any other forum, and I do not plan to reach out to a wider audience yet. If all goes well, it will stop here.. Please give this story a happy ending.
    Thanks.

  • Can I transfer my verizon.net email address to another Verizon account?

I currently have Verizon DSL at my home and an established Verizon email address. I am moving in with someone who has Verizon DSL service. Is there some way to transfer my email account to be a sub account of someone else?

Verizon (per "policy") won't move a primary account to a sub account or vice-versa. If it's a sub account then no worries. If it's a primary... Maybe look into Verizon Your Domain?

  • A few questions about Group Policy development

This post was originally in the Windows Development forum. Please note the following:
This question is not about the application and management of GPOs. It's about how to develop a group policy.
I know about Group Policy Preferences, please do not provide this as an answer.
I create a custom group policy for an application.
Recently the application developers allowed settings to be controlled via policy registry keys, in order to make these settings easier to set for Systems Administrators I have created a GPO. Unfortunately, there aren't that many resources
I can find that help with Group Policy creation, so:
Is there an easier way to create and edit admx/adml files rather than just a xml editor? Like a GUI front end?
The vast majority of this applications settings are just a simple Boolean, is there any way to just use one base presentation element for multiple policies? or do I really have to create a presentation element for every single policy? :/
As mentioned above, most settings are a simple Boolean, but with an additional enforce parameter. If you "enforce" the setting the user is blocked from changing the value. I was going to peg the setting Boolean to whether the policy was
Enabled or Disabled and have an enforce check box in the policy itself (this would make it easier to just glance at the configured settings and get an idea). Unfortunately, when you disable a policy you cannot interact
with its contents, so the enforce check box cannot be toggled. So I have two options:
Have two policies for each setting eg: Disabled: Load printer settings with the document and
Enabled: ENFORCE Load printer settings with the document
OR what I have elected to do is just have the one policy with 2 check-boxes in it, one for the setting and one for the enforcement
The former is both more complex to write for me and more time consuming to configure for the Administrator, the later is easier for me to write but still annoying to use. So my final question is: can I make it so, even though a policy is disabled, you can
still toggle settings within the policy?

    Hi Thomas.
    > (this will set the default in the application) and then toggling whether
    > that setting is Enforced (unable for the user to modify it - disabling
    > it in the user interface).
As said - that's not how policies are intended to work - they are always
enforced. You are talking about preferences that have an optional
"enforce" switch :) But doesn't matter for the remainder of this post.

I'd sugggest to use ADM instead of ADMX. Much easier to write and
maintain, and copy/paste works very well in ADM :)

What elements you need depends on the registry values your application
    is expecting/checking. I'd suggest a radio button (enabled/disabled) and
    a check box "enforced".

You cannot edit what a disabled GPO does, but you can define it
(VALUEOFF in ADM files if I recall correctly).
    >     well because it would make it easier for them to read the GPO. But I

Yes, it isn't. It still - at least to me - is a slight misunderstanding
    of "preferences" versus "policies" :)

  • Verizon Customer Service is terrible!

I don't even know where to start.   On Monday I contacted Verizon Wireless customer service about a possible upgrade.   My daughters screen on the Droid Razor is cracked and falling apart.  Cutting her finger at times.  I have insurance but since I have an upgrade available on 2/28 I figured I would see if they would allow to do the upgrade 4 days early.   I thinking this is not big deal based on the amount of devices and amount of money I send these sharks each month.
I called customer service and they said no.  Okay, I understand front line reps don't have the power to do anything but apologize.  Anyway they told me to go to my local Verizon Wireless store any they could  put in an over ride.  I'm thinking great, I have to go out that way to do shopping so why not.
Well I get to the store and older lady I spoke to said no as well and that "The computer won't let us".   My arguement was that it was just 4 days and a manager should hopefully be able to help me so I don't have to drive out here again for no reason this weekend.  But, no she insisted that they could not help me.
Checked out the edge program...What a joke even if I wanted to do it the local store said they couldn't because we need to trade the device in and it has to be in good shape.
Verzion....Your customer service just sucks.   You have trained your associates to be nothing more than computers and to blame your poor service on computers.   I'm probably going to get my daughter a new iPhone 5 with another carrier since her contract is up Friday and move the rest of my devices by summers end.

Although you find it unfair Verizon's policy is no early upgrades. Now granted in some cases I am positive the upgrade can be approved by a higher manager, but if they don't allow it. No need to be so mad at what policy you are bound by.
If you wanted to pay full price you could have upgraded without any contract after February 28th. which many people prefer especially given the conditions of their devices. But other than that you would have to wait it out. Bummer I know.
You could always place another device that works on the line of the phone that is broken. Then remove it when the upgrade date arrives.
We often have to take a deep breath and think without anger. You may find it is not as bad as what you are thinking it is.
    Good Luck

Looks to me (and I haven't been advised on changes) that this is a customer protection.  I don't know what the previous policy was, but this guarantees that if FiOS is no longer serviced in your area, you cannot be charged an early termination fee if there remains time left on your account.  It seems obvious that you wouldn't be he held responsible in such a case, but this is just putting it in writing.
