Verizon is incapable of hooking up my DSL...I just want to give them money, but it's impossible

Tech support is no help. I've spent 4+ hours with them on my cell in the last week. I'm now two weeks past my initial activation date. I'm supposed to call yet again and re-create my DSL order for the THIRD TIME! I figured I'd blow off some steam here amongst my peers since email to Verizon IS NOT AVAILABLE IN MY AREA! **bleep**?!
All I want to do is hand over money every month to Verizon. In return, all they have to do is flip a switch in my apartment building to turn on my service. If I could use another company, I would, but Verizon has my complex sealed up. Nice of them.
Oh well, maybe I'll have a "talk" with a Verizon truck next time I see one.

    We rented a cable card from Verizon February in 2012. After about 2 months of use we decided to cancel FIOS TV service and contacted Verizon about returning the card. We were sent a gray self-addressed envelope with instructions to return the card in it via either USPS or UPS. We returned the card immediately via USPS. Two months later, a charge appeared on our bill for $100 for the card. I contacted Verizon support by telephone (30 minute wait on hold , as usual) and was told by the CSR that it would probably take another 30-60 days for the equipment to show as having been received, at which time the charge would be removed.
    Fast forward to June. The $100 charge still shows on our bill, so I called & spoke with a supervisor 'Brian' in the Dallas office. (45 minute wait this time....) Brian stated that the equipment DID show to be received in the warehouse, but it would probably take another 30-60 days for it to show up in their system. (Which begs the question - if he could see it in the system how could it not be 'in the system'??) Brian also said that he was sure that it would be cleared and that he was going to call me back on July 13th to confirm that it was no longer on our bill. Of course Brian never called back, and the charge stayed on our bill.
    I did call back in July and spoke with a CSR who gave me a 'voucher' number '3732404'.
    And I called again on 8/27 when I spoke with 'Linda' who said she would speak with a supervisor and make sure that the charge was removed.
    As of Thursday, September 20th, the charge is still on our bill, along with another $30 charge for who knows what. I again called and asked to speak to Brian. He called me back the following day and this time stated that the equipment was NOT received and that he NEVER said that it was??? Nonetheless, he still claimed that the charge would be removed in another 30-60 days. As of Monday, 9/24 we are now receiving 'YOU HAVE A BILL PAST DUE' notices every time we log in to our verizon account.
    Is there ANY way to get someone at Verizon who actually knows what they are doing or can actually give us a straight answer? I have serious doubts about this company and as much as I don't want to, it looks like our only alternative is to cancel the account and switch to Comcast.

    Let's see if I can get this straight.
    You have an Airport Extreme base station that is set to "Create a wireless network" and you have the box checked for "allow this network to be extended"....
    Then you have an Airport Express that is set to "Extend a wireless network" which you selected the name of your network in the box...

    If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
    Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..
    If your iPod is defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

    Just wanted to say thanks for fixing Verizon cloud which has been malfunctioning for some time. I spent some time with one of your techs. earlier today trying to fix the problem. It was then I learned it wasn't my problem but a system glitch. So thanks again for fixing the problem not too many hours after that.

    Simple.. bridge the TC.. in the apple utility in the NAT and DHCP area.
    Plug it into the FIOS router.. you can turn off wireless in the TC if you want.. or use it.. it can work faster if you are nearby and can select 5ghz.. but up to you.

    The effect is usually caused by trouble with the Segoe UI fonts on your system. Unfortunately it's a bit trickier to deal with on Windows 7 systems than Vista or XP. (The "Vortical" instructions which can fix it for almost all folks on Vista and XP aren't applicable to Windows 7.)
    Try having a look through the following (unfortunately very long) topic. It contains a lot of information on the Windows 7 variants of this, and possible methods for fixing the various Segoe UI-related issues that might be in play:

    travel! Regarding your iPhone 5, the phone is unlocked for international usage.
    Just need an active local SIM card that is compatible with your iPhone. Your local provider
    may need to configure some settings under Cellular, but it should pick up signal. Just in
    case, make sure that Settings>Cellular>Roaming>Voice & Data are
    active.

    Where did you "turn it on"?  Computer?  Tablet?  Phone app? 
    On the phone app, open messages, go to the three bars top LEFT corner, scroll down to Settings, then Manage devices to un-sync with tablet(s) or computer(s).  If you don't want to use the app, then disable or uninstall it and go back to the stock app or another of your choosing.

  • Verizon just sends me a new router but the problem never gets fixed

    I'll tell you about my problem and I just need to know where and how to start diagnosing the issue so i can get this fixed because fios customer service tells me there isnt an issue or just sends me a router but my lag issue gets so bad i cant even use the internet, my phone goes faster.
    So I upgraded my fios to quantum and it was fine for a while but lately there has been alot of strang lag and it happens very randomly, I get lag on all of my computers in my home when it happens. While playing video games my connection goes from green to red and i lag for about half a second and back to green and this goes on and on every couple seconds. I also have slow web browsing and downloading is almost non-existant. But there are times I can have all 5 computers on and playing video games and downloading at the same time and never get a hint of lag.
    This has been going on for months, I have gotten 5 new routers and had a tech come out once, but when he was here the issue wasnt happening.
    Here are the details:
    While playing my video game my latency is normaly ~20ms and during this issue it will start out at ~20ms but jumps every couple seconds up to about ~150 ms or higher and I lag in game.
    I have 4 computers wired and 1 wireless, only 1 computer is currently on.
    I tested on every computer and all are the having the same issue so i know its not the computer.
    I have 75/35 fios quantum.
    I ran the verizon speed test and got:
    4.15 mbps download
    37.85 mbps upload
    12 ms latency
    please help me! customer service cant help at all or just tell me nothing is wrong, but there is

    The low download speed could be cluing into the problem.
    How do your MoCa signal levels look? We can get an idea of how they are by looking at the link speed between all of your devices. See this FAQ on how to get this info.

    Otherwise, have you asked Verizon how the Fiber signal levels are for the ONT? Know of any neighbors seeing similar problems? Could be a bad OLT Line card, too.

    A friend has a BlackBerry with her Verizon account and I would like to give her an iPhone as a Christmas present.  How do I do that?

    Are they eligible for an upgrade? If so, what you can do is go to VZW and buy a VZW giftcard for the amount of the iPhone you want to get them (you can do this even if they aren't eligible but you would have to give them the amount of an iPhone at full retail). I'm not sure if they will let you order one for your friend using their account if you aren't an authorized person on their account...since if you get it at the advertized 2 year agreement price they would have to agree to a new contract. You can always call or visit the local VZW store to see what other suggestions they have for you to achieve giving your friend an iPhone as a gift.

    I'm off to T Mobile.  I don't see how we can make this work anymore.  I've tried and I've tried.  You just keep taking more and more and giving less and less.  And you make life so freaking complicated.  I talked to you.  Several times.  But you just wouldn't listen.  personally, I think you didn't believe me when I said I would leave and counted on my sticking around because of the pain factor of change.
    Eventually the pain factor is just too much.  Oh make no mistake, I can afford you easily.  But you just don't give value for what I pay.
    To the point... T Mobile is getting better.  Giving better service.  Cheaper.  Without all the >>removed<< games you guys play.  Their network is starting to get rave reviews in the press.  And I calculated it up...
    GOING TO T MOBILE WILL SAVE ME OVER 1000 DOLLARS OVER 2 YEARS!   That is a a ridiculous amount of money.  An INSANE amount of money.
    In a 2 year period you would cost me almost 3500 dollars!  For that kind of money you guys should be coming to my house, tucking me in bed and reading me a bed time story every night!  But you don't.  You are a phone.  That is all.  And honestly, I think hubris has gotten in your way.
    So this is where it ends.  I'm getting a new Note 3, unlimited non-throttled 4G service with 2.5 gigs of hotspot for less than my current service not including the cost of a new phone with you guys.  Add in a new phone... and that's 150 a month!  That is half of a car payment!
    So to all of the verizon customers out there... I recommend you rethink verizon  I did.

    I agree with everything you said.
    I've already gotten my bill amount.  Including taxes and phone (amortized over 2 years  although I pay full retail) it will be 106 per month.
    My phone bill with verizon is 120.  I have the unlimited plan so tethering which I now need is another 20 per month.  That's 140.  And then I have to pay full retail for a phone which is 700/24=29.  So if I stay with Verizon that's 169/mo.
    That's a 63 dollar a month difference = 756.  756*2= over 1500 for 2 years.
    I've already checked out the T Mobile coverage map and all of the places I go have at least good coverage and most are very good or exceptional.  So I should be fine there.  And honestly... T Mobile doesn't have coverage everywhere... but I'm not everywhere.  If I can't get 3 or 4 G coverage in the middle of no where Montana, that doesn't effect me because I don't live in Montana. 
    There is a way to go on the T Mobile web site and disable the authorization of third parties to put charges on your phone bill... so I can control the apps and other stuff.
    I'm ok with having lowest speed in other countries as my verizon phone wouldn't even operate in other countries.
    I am aware that others look at T Mobile as a buy out opportunity.  AT&T tried that a couple years ago.  It could happen.  But if it does then I will re-evaluate the landscape at that time.  T Mobile is doing well now... that doesn't mean it will be doing well in 3 years.
    At this point I view verizon like the cable companies.  They were saying that cord-cutters were a small percentage of users and insignificant.  And then more users said to themselves "This just isn't worth it" and it became a significant percentage.  And the cable companies still kept telling themselves that "nothing is wrong".  It was like the emporer's new clothes.  Now cable company growth has stagnated and lots of people are cutting the cord.  I think the same thing is happening with verizon.  I know lots of people who are tired of the games and have said they are leaving.  I didn't hear that 4 years ago.

  • Surprise Verizon - I just want to say thanks.

    In the past, I and many others, have complained about the time it takes Verizon to get a device update. I presently have the Nokia 928 and I was pleasantly surprised with the latest AMBER update. It came on the day it was released for most other devices across the world.
    I did the upgrade; love the new capabilities. Had no problems updating.
    I assume that the ease of update was caused by Verizon having not to do the long testing cycle as in the past. This should give you as a company, reason to jump on the Windows Phone train and push harder to sell this product line.
    Just wanted to say thanks for the timely update and look forward to the next one.
    By the way, the 920 users on AT&T are still waiting for the AMBER update as of yesterday.
