Verizon not honoring their online price quote

I renewed my FIOS account on 6/9/14 (while processing a move to a new address) and the online quote was for $124.99/month.
Now the reps are telling me that the online quote included discounts that expired that day (the day my current agreement ended).  The printed order that I placed shows two $5 discounts "for 24 months", and one $10 disount "for 24 months", and a $10 discount for the verizons connection program.
The same amount is shown for the first month, and for months 2 and 3, as all installation charges were waived.  It also shows a $15.99 increase for months 4-12, and another $15.99 increase for 13-24 as discounts for the Ultimate Premium Completer credits expire.
I have spoken to customer service thre times, first women would not let me speak, and keep speaking over me and finally hung up on me.  Second rep said she has seens this problem before, and it is a SW bug that includes current credits with new credits.  Spoke to her supervisor who said nothing could be done.  They did not offer any method of me proving I had a printed order showing an extra $30/month discount)  I offered email, faxing, or even driving to a local office to have THEM send it.  All offers were refused.
My issue is that I entered into a contract based on the only pricing information I had available at the time (their online ordering system.)  The order confirmation email (which I didn't pay particular attening to, as I had the printed confirmation from the web site.)   To me, this is like ordering an item from Amazon, based on the price shown on a website, and then billing my creditcard an extra $720.00.  I did not agree to the price shown in the email, I would have gone with another cable/sattelite carrier had I known of the higher price.  I also purchased 3 TiVo Romios (at $399 each) which I cannot use now with sattelite.
This order was a nightmare from the get go. You cannot order cablecards from the web anymore (yes, they used to have the ability, but I guess their set box rentals are more profitable).  So I needed to call after the order was placed to remove the set box, and add the cabe cards.
Then they kept sending me emails from the "Credit Verification Center" to "Complete my order".  I called the number no less than three times (after three different emails), an no one there knew of any problems nor could they cross reference the number given in the email.
I was sent an email (1 minute after placing the order) that I should have ordered a battery from the ONT, but I knew the house I was moving to already had a battery, and it was not needed.
After I move, the provisioning was wrong for the phone service, no service the first day.  Then I receive a set box (which should have been canceled), and I have to drive that to the Local Verizon FIOS store to return.  THen, a few days later a Battrey shows up.  Luckily they let me keep the battery, and remove it's charge from my bill.
How much can one company screw up?
I simply can't believe that Comcast has worse customer service.

  • Photosmart 7525 shows 7520 series missing or failed printhead + HP not honoring 1 year warranty...

As you've gathered from the title there is two issues:
    1.  The Photosmart 7525 (alias:  CZ046A)  is no longer functions and says Missing or failed printhead.
    2.  HP's warranty check says warranty expired on Aug 31, 2013 even though it was bought Aug 6, 2013...
    Issue 1.
I replaced colour ink cartridges and this message appeared immediately after.
I followed HP's help guide and this did not clear the message or get printer working again.
    Details:
    The Printer's touch screen shows:
[ !]  Missing or failed printhead
The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed.
Also, the HP software that came with printer gives a popup (in WinXP SP3):
      HP Photosmart 7520 series
      (X)  Missing or Failed Printhead
      Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black/PhotoBlack
The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed, or incompatible.
I troubleshooted following the HP online help guide (scroll down and choose 'No Code Displays')
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=ca&lc=en&docname=c01458034
The steps I took in brief (as per HP guide above).:
reseated cartridges, checked vents, turned on then unplugged printer for a minute, cleaned cartridge contacts, turned on then unplugged printer again, removed printheads and cleaned contacts
The last step the guide says is replace printhead or contact HP if still in warranty.
(as a former electronic repair person, then PC technician, now SysAdmin, I'm no stranger to following repair guides, and troubleshooting.)
    Issue 2.
I used the provided warranty check at the bottom of the aforementioned HP guide:
    http://www.hp.com/go/warrantycheck
The printer was purchased Aug 6th, 2013 and on Aug 8th I set up the printer and mailed the warranty card.
On March 6th, 2014, I entered the serial number and the other Model number  CZ046A
And HP's website indicated:  Warranty has expired  2013-08-30
So I used the "Online warranty dispute form".
Then next day an email from Sush "have updated the warranty of your HP Product".
On March 7th, 2014, I did the warranty check again
And HP's website indicated:  Warranty has expired  2013-08-31
I replied to Sush's email, nicely explaining the problem.
On March 8th, 2014, ATCHUTA RAO.V replied "have updated the warranty of your HP Product".
But there was no change and HP's website still indicates:  Warranty has expired  2013-08-31
So I used the "Online warranty dispute form" again and only received an autoreply on March 10th.
It's now the 20th, and I still get Warranty has expired  2013-08-31
It simply appears to me that HP is Not honoring their 1 year warranty on their product.
(For obvious reasons I'm not putting my serial number or ServiceTicket number online)

  • Online chat quote not honored by Verizon or Verizon is trained to lie here too

I Was quoted by Taelor in a live chat and I quote"If you were to upgrade at that 2 year discounted price this would bring your bill to $160 before tax in which I'm seeing we can add our 30% discount on both line access fees for 1 year with a 1 year contract agreement, map dating your bill to $136 before taxes.". I was told I would be getting 15 gig plan and she also said we could add 1 gig of bonus data for a total of 16 gig, the plan would also be 2 smartphones for $136.  I then had to leave tht chat session.  A few hours later I contacted the live chat again.  This time chatting with Lyndsey.  i then asked her about what Taelor had said and she also confirmed the plan and told me I could also get the s5 pro owned phone for $99 and the Galaxy note 3 pre owned $99 phone with the 1 year contract however I would have to call as she could not do sales.  Well I just got off the phone with Verizon and they would not honor one bit of that agreement even though the lady on the phone (very nice lady by the way) could read exactly what Taelor and Lyndsey both said in our chat session.  I thanked her but I'm going to most likely be moving on to sprint and get unlimited everything for my wife and I at $60 each.  My sister and her family and my brother in law and his family live in the same area and say they have great service and Internet as I know with sprint that can be a concern.  Too bad because I really like Verizon.

I could title my experience the same!
I have had an S5 for about 6 months and have hated at least 23 of those weeks.  A couple of weeks ago I signed onto chat to find out my options:
first agent, before she even answered my question as to my options, proceeded to tell me that if I changed my plan that I would save xz&y.  I stated that while that sounded good, I wanted to sort out my phone problems first.  While I was waiting for her reply, I got a text message notifying me that a change on my account had been made.  I immediately stated in the chat that I had not authorized an account change and that before they had permission to do anything I wanted to know about my phone options.  STRANGELY, the chat got cut off.   WT$%^*
I copied the chat and initiated another session.  A new rep comes on and I paste the previous chat into the window and inform her that no change was authorized, and while the change may make sense I want to understand what options I have for getting a new device.  She apologized and then gave me my options: 1) buy a new no-contract phone at $750, 2)pay the ETF (prorated to around $250) and then either go onto a new 2 yr contract or go onto an edge contract.  I said I will go with option 2.  At which point she told me that I would have to go to the store to do the phone transaction but that she would review my plan options.  We reviewed the options and I agreed to make the changes.
now I go into the closest VW store and after waiting for 30 minutes for service and another 30 of explaining and the rep talking with her manager, they tell me that they will not honor that.  They will allow me to pay the ETF and go to a different device but I will lose my phone number.
So of these options is true:
Chat Reps are not trained properly, or
Chat Reps are intentionally misleading customers, or
Local stores are not trained properly, or
Local stores are refusing to follow VW agreements.
Which ever is a problem.  My options are pay $750 or move my accounts to another carrier.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

  • Online Price not honored at store... quite miffed

I did an upgrade online.  I did not want the new phone shipped, since deliveries to my apartment have not been reliable, and I need to leave town in a couple of days.
I ordered yesterday (6/16) and was given a price of $149 for an upgrade to a Galaxy S5, with a $50 promised rebate.  I arranged a store pickup, and got an online confirmation, with an order number, and an amount, as well as confirmation the item was available at the selected store.
Today, I walked into the store to try to buy it.  After suffering through an hour wait, and then a 20-minute sell job about accessories I really didn't want to buy, the sales associate began to check me out, and told me they can't give me the price, since it just went up.  She had to sell it, she said, for $249, and there was nothing she could do.
The manager came out and dug his heels in.  They said I could call customer service.
I did call customer service.  They also said that they would have to ship the phone, or I'd have to pay the price quoted at the store.
Ah, Sprint is looking SOOO much better right now.
Any suggestions, short of walking away and let Verizon go?
    - Jim

OK - and if they could have told me that they wanted to retain their store
inventory, instead of promising to the phone for me at the store as the
order confirmation had promised, I would not have said a thing.

  • How can I get Verizon to honor new price? I bought online on 7/9 and picked up from store on 7/10. In that time the price dropped $100.

On top of that, I was told by the customer service rep I was chatting with to act fast before the sale ends. Only to have the price go down!

WGB1130 We understand wanting the best deal on your device. We offer different promotions and device prices are subject to change. This does not guarantee a price match and we would need to review this on a case by case situation. Other's who have may received courtesy adjustments could be based on other factors. It is not a policy to price match the phone but we would love to see what ther options are available. • Verizon Customer Service Lies, does not follow their own contract!

Heres what I've been dealing with. Can anyone out there tell me if Verizon has to go by the same Terms & Conditions set forth for Customers? I think they would have to,right because it has to be a meeting of the minds and if they tell me one thing but they don't have to do the same time. I feel like as judge Judy & Judge Marion ( sorry not sure how to spell here name BUT LOVE LOVE HER SHOW ON PEOPLE's COURT) that for there to be a Contract that it has to be follfollowed the same way for each person in it ,or it would not be a contract because both parties would have to get something out of it and ALSO FOLLOW THAT SAME RULES SET FORTH IN THE CONTRACT.
Sometimes it's not always about the price. To a large number of U.S. It's about the Quality of the derive not so much about the little difference in a monthly plan, even tho to me I want both. But at Verizon I get great cell service, BUT THE ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER CARE ON THE PLANT. and I just don't mean CS REPS having a bad day because we all get them . What I'm talking about how almost everyone of them lie in some way or another. And finaily after about the ten time of them lying to you about sometime ( like only being abole to a NCR ONE CELL PHONE WHEN YOUR IS BROKEN AND ONLY WANTED A NEW ONE OF WHAT YOU HAVE "NOT '5 New Certified Refurbished Ones "that are all broken just like the first one. )I finally called Samsung about this because every service rep was telling me the same thing. I would tell them that the contract states' NEW ONE, NCRO, or ONE COMPARABLE TO THE ONE I HAVE' Samsung rep told me that Verizon was out right Lieing to me because they only sell the phones in Bulk to the Cell Phone Providers, after that it's WHAT VERIZON WANTS TO DO AND OF COURSE THEY WANT TO MAKE YOU SPENT MORE MONEY NOW AND IN THE LONG RUN. YOU SEE ALL I WANTED WAS THE ONE I HAD BUT A NEW ONE NOT ANOTHER 6 REFURBISHED one. But nope Verizon would not do that so I could keep the broken one or I would have to pay more money to get another comparable to mine. I feel like I had no opinion but to borrow money and get new one, I paid $100. For new Samsung Galaxy s5 because I had the Galaxy s4 new from them when we signed contract. And after 4 months and all the run a rounds they had me do,I was so very upset. Anyway when I order the new one with the Service Rep In Corp, she promised me there would be NO OTHER FEES OR MONEY WHAT SO EVER THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY, BECAUSE I BORROWED THE $100 and I could not and would not spend anymore money with them, BUT SAD TO SAY THEY LIE AGAIN. BECAUSE I HAD A FEW DIFFERENT CHARGES ON MY BILL. OK TAXES, EVEYONE HAS TO PAY THOSE RIGHT, BUT THE FEES THAT THEY CHARGE FOR THIS OR THAT AND AN UP GRADE FEE WAS A DOWN RIGHT LIE. SO FROM SEPT 2014 to April 2015 I have been fight them to take of the charges right. Them in Oct 2015 I went into store to see about their home internet service and a rep there told me that it would more then likely be best for me to go with the Promo that they were having to the end of the month. I even have a letter he gave me about the $100. Discounted price a month but on back he wrote what my bill would be evey month with all my discounts and such. It was $ 200.26 . I even got a letter from Verizon stating that I can in the store and changed my plan the 18 of Oct & it would take in affect on the 27 of Oct my monthly billing cycle. So I told the Rep to go ahead and do it..we agreed that if I didn't like it or want to chance to some else I could. Well here comes Nov 2015 bill and there's no DISCOUNT AT ALL. SO since Nov2015 when I called them about this ( I won't go into all the lies there because we would be here all day) till April 2015 I have been fighting this mistake they made and the charges of the up grade fees and all.
I Finaily told them that I was done with this that I could not go on and on anymore. I had just gotten out of Hospital ano put on Anxiety Ned's because of all the stress I've been  having every single month with them. Everything could just had been avoided if they would just have given me a NEW GALAXYs4 instead of having to buy a nit het phone. Oh by the way which I just found out that by them having me to have to buy the new one or keep the broken on that I now made my contract go for another 9 months till 2016 when it was to be over this Dec when we signed up. They said since I upgraded that it extended it. Well the way I see it that if there is no upgrade fees because I was told there would be none and they finailly took the charges off and gave me the credit for it shows that there was not a meeting of the minds so there is no extended contract. I have to say that after going to Verizon, Best Buy , then to Verizon another time and the countless house I have spent on the service reps that it would be the best for both parties to walk away from all this contract and all. I have every record of the people ,date, time I talked to them , plus all text messages, & FaceBook messages back and forth for at least 100hours or more( 2 time I spend the day and evening at Verizon ,where they sent me to Best Buy to find out at the end I should never have been sent there to begin with so 1 time 51/2 hours, then around 4 hours because they would not talk to me because I did not have my licenses, even tho I had been there multitude times, & know all the addresses, phone numbers, names, and af course the only thing that I have to give to the reps when I'm online is a passcode which I had also. So no I had to take a 45 min ride back hoe to get it ,got back at 7 pm stayed till after closing when I told the manager Tom at the big Verizon store in Gainesville Fl off of Newberry rd and i-75 that I would just let him work on it and please credit my account. And of course did not happen. LIES, LIES LIES. So now we are going to go to small claims court/ mediation at the court house ,not with Verizon people who work for them But are not involved with the case they say. I thing that's one of the reason that they don't want to go to a Jury trail because they know that they would lost most of the time, at least this time I'm for sure. So all the people that are out there having terrible customers service with Verizon I hope for the best for you. Please let me know how things go with your concerns with your Cell Phone Providers. I'm on FaceBook under " CUSTOMERS LIKE ME, DISLIKE VERIZON WIRELESS" again thanks so much for listening and sending me hopes that things turn out for me. Agape Patricia

First, Verizon follows Samsung's warranty rules. The only time you would get a new phone (other than buying it) is if the device was defective within the first 14 days or if the device was so new that there would be Certified Like New Replacements available yet. Now, with that said, there is no way that 6 devices would have the same hardware problem. When you have multiple devices with the same issue it is more likely than not that the issue is software related. For example, my LG G3 was great up until I received the Lollipop update then, wouldn't you know, I stopped receiving notifications for a lot of apps while connected to wifi. This is a software issue and is not Verizon's fault. However, if you believe that you are owed a brand new phone, you should take it up with Samsung. You are just as much a customer of theirs as you are VZW's.
Then it sounds like VZW broke the contract and gave you the option to upgrade at a discounted price and you purchased the Galaxy S5. So here, there was, as you say, a meeting of the minds. Whether you misunderstood the terms or they were not explained to you remains to be seen. However, VZW did NOT have to let you upgrade but when you do you are ALWAYS held to the new contract terms. THEN...they refunded the $40 upgrade fee for you. I still can't see how you are making out badly in this deal.
It was hard to decipher your post and I am still not completely sure of what you are talking about with the home service.
What do you expect to happen at this point? You won't (shouldn't) be given any more considerations. That has already been done. What it sounds like to me is that you are causing all of the stress in your life. If it is really that bad with Verizon, you are free to break your contract by paying the Early Termination Fees and switch carriers. There is nothing holding you to VZW.

  • How do you get Verizon to honor something their customer care department told you?????????

Spoke to a very nice woman on 2/11/15 who kindly allowed me to override my update date (which is only 1 month away mind you) in order to get in on the G3 for free deal going on right now and may I point out that SHE RECOMMENDED IT SINCE IT WAS FREE. I told her that I would drive to a store that evening in order to try the phone out to make sure that is what we wanted and she was to call me this morning to set everything up. We had quite a lengthy conversation about the features of that phone compared to the Galaxy S5. Well, this morning my phone decided to block her calls twice for some reason so I called them. I get a different person that NOW tells me "Oh we can't give you that price although we are letting you upgrade now". WHAT????!!!!! I'm furious! I was wanting to get two of these for two of my lines of which I have 4 lines! I pay them $250 per stinking month for their service so they have made a MINT off of me and they cannot give me the phones for their advertised price?????? No way to override the date huh? RIGHT!!! No way to override the price huh??? RIGHT!!!! Well, I work for plenty of lawyers and I don't roll over and die on issues where I am wronged! I will fight this to the end so who in the world do I contact next to get this resolved???? OR lose 4 lines PLUS I will return the tablet I just purchased LAST NIGHT!!! As well as place horrible reviews on every site I can think of. Verizon you were wrong!

Verizon is corrupt in what they tell you and what they honor. Their right hand does not know what their left hand is doing.
I am so angry at them for what they are NOT doing to solve problems we have had with billing since October. I have been putting horrible reviews on every site I can think of as well. This typically is not my approach but I have exhausted every avenue of reason with them up to this point. They are so big they don't care. Only thing though is I live in a small community that does pay attention to things others say and I am telling it like it is. Verizon customer service is a group of dishonest, incompetent people.

  • Does not honor sold price

I was sold a package price of $97.95 for 105mb/sec Internet, 140 channels including HBO and Streampix, a DVR and a second box. Now Comcast will not honor that price and claims they do not have that in their records. Yet there is proof in a recording that they DID offer me that price. And I was told even if they find the recording they will not honor the price. Even though there is PROOF that they would honor the sold package price. Yet they will only give me 75mb/sec AT SAME PRICE!!! Unbelievable!!! I honestly cannot believe a company gets away with this!!! And to top it all off, my internet is still not up to speed properly as its only maybe 15mb/sec. Comcast is SO BAD!!! They should be ashamed of what they do. But all I got was "we are sorry". That doesn't fix it!!! I am looking into legal council and the attorney general and the federal trade commission. I am sick of these fraudulent practices by a composing like this that feels that they can do anything they want because of their size. Someone needs to knock them down a few pegs and make it hurt! This isn't over!!!

You need to go thru arbitration. I would contact attorney general along with FTC ant the BBB. Good luck.

  • How come Verizon Wireless will not give their customers a corporate number, email, or address to send complaints?

I have been with Verizon Wireless for 7 years and I have went through more problems in customer service in the last year then I have in my whole 7 years. Usually if I have a problem they fix it immediately, I tend to call instead of going into a Verizon store because Verizon stores just do not care about their customers. I am beginning to think the same thing about Verizon Wireless customer service.
Problem number 1: Verizon Wireless making changes to my account, aka payment arrangements, without my knowledge or consent. Making my phone shut off because I was 3 days late. Yes THREE DAYS... not months. Then after they turned my phone on because of their error I paid my bill. About a couple weeks later I decide that I want to purchase a new phone and want it billed to my account. They then tell me that no I could not have it billed to my account because my phone was shut off for non-payment. I then explained that it was an error, they then told me that they could not over-ride the system and I would have to wait 6 months to bill to my account. I asked if that meant I could bill to my account even if Iam late a couple days or what. They told me as long as my phone had not shut off because of non-payment I would be able to bill to my account, also that they would write a formal complaint on the person who made a payment arrangement on my account without my consent and they would get back to me. That was in Mar of 2013. I am still waiting for a reply from my complaint.
Problem number 2: In March of 2013 Verizon had an email option on their website where you could email corporate and they will email you back. Since then they have taken it off and will not give their customers email, number, or address where they can reach corporate at.
Problem number 3: Sept of 2013, it has been 6 months. I I then call Verizon to bill to my account a new phone, because I wanted to start a new contract. Well they tell me that because I do not pay on the same day of every month I will not be able to bill to my account and they can not over ride the system. I then tell them that this was not what was told to me in March of this year. The rep tells me that she cant do anything for me except investigate it and get back to me within 4 hours. I say okay and leave my number I wanted to be reached at, I asked if she was sure that she was going to call me back because I have been told in the past by verizon wireless reps that I would receive calls from them and they never bothered to return my call, because basically I was un-important. She stated that she would and she appreciated the business I gave Verizon for the past 7 years. (she was a supervisor by the name of Jeniffer in customer service on the east coast). 5 hours later I still had not received a call so I call back and ask to speak to a supervisor they then tell me that my claim was denied for "unknown" reasons about the call 6 months ago and they were not going to let me bill to my account and they couldnt help me further. I asked for a a corporate number, email, or address and they told me repeatedly that they did not know them and could not give them out if they did know them. That if I had a complaint he could notate it and make sure it was handled. Psssh just like it was handled 6 months ago. I daid thank you but no thanks and ended my call soon thereafter.
It just galls me that Verizon treats their customers who make them money by using their services and phones every year. They do not have any care for the complaints and actions of their workers as well as their customers.
I just want to know it anyone knows they corporate number, email or address??
Or maybe a verizon rep out there (which I pretty much doubt will respond to my question)
If I dont receive an answer soon I believe... no i KNOW I will be taking my $127.33 else where and maybe just maybe I can get better customer service, even if its just a tiny inch better than Verizons.
    AT&T here I come.

yesterday i went to verizon with a 8 day old broken phone after 40 mins in line to be helped  the sales staff at glenway av in cincinnati turned me around and sent me out the door without solving my problem or returning my less than 14 day old phone.  i called corporate at >>removed<< they called the store and made an appointment with the manager to resolve my issue. when i returned to the store i was told i had to wait in line again so i decided to get loud enough for every customer in the store to hear what kind of customer service i was recieving.  so then the employee at the door not the manager called the police on me and threw me out of the store so today i am returning my phones and am seeking other service providers  but anyhow the corporate number i provided is a good one and the people you reach will solve your problem  corporate level is does do a grat job but the customer service level and store level employees i have found to be very unproffessional and extreemly mismanaged.

  • Online Price List

    Hello,
One of our client has E-Commerce 5.0 and TREX 7.1 integrated and web shop is working fine.
They are looking forward to integrate online price list.
Current scenario - They have a Z table (50,000 records) which has all the pricing relevant records. We are thinking to replicate it to TREX and generate an ad-hoc query from application. We are expecting TREX should return the result which will be displayed and then users can download the same. Z table has around 25 fields and same needs to be replicated to TREX.
    Questions:
    1. Will it be a good approach to replicate whole Z table to TREX for online price list? If not, what should be the best way of accomplishing this?
    2. Is there any limitations in TREX for each records (like only 512 chars TREX can hold)?
    3. Please recommend any guide if available for this.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Thanks.
    Shubhangi

If you are viewing the TREX as a data store, you may go wrong. It is strictly used as an Index server by the CRM / Product Catalog. The key to the records is the Product GUID and the values of the Product Attributes get indexed and stored. Queries return the product GUIDs (list) for the given attribute values.
Normal Price List is also published in a similar sense. One value per product. If you have to associate multiple values (refer to your question about length), think in terms of Attributes and their values.
There is no method to list the results in a way usable for printing. Any printing capability has to be custom developed.

  • Why did Steve decide to eliminate superior products like MobileMe and iWeb and not just raise the price?

I've been looking into moving 3 web sites that I easily created using iWeb and Mobile me and it is unbarably difficult to use what non Apple users have to put up with.   I was so happy that I could throw a site together for someone and it would just work.   Now I'm looking at 5 times the cost and 1/5th the quality.    Why didn't Apple just raise the price if it was unprofitable?     MobileMe and iWeb are a GREAT service to Apple customers.    I feel this discontinuation is very unfortunate for many.

Actually, the discontinuation of MobileMe is an opportunity to move on to more professional website hosting and management.  MMe is just too social networking oriented and lacking in serious webstite hosting capability.
Now I'm looking at 5 times the cost and 1/5th the quality
You've got to be kidding!  Web hosting that has more hosting features that MMe had is readily available for as little as $3.95/mo. That's only $48/year - aboiut 1/2 of what MMe costs.  Included are a domain name, unlimited storage and transfer, subdomains, multiple email addresses, advanced security features and, something MobileMe never had, 24/7 actual ear-to-ear customer support! What a novel idea.  Actually quickly contacting and talking to a real person to get help on a problem.
I moved about 30 websites from MMe to my new host in about an hour once the new server was setup. This describes how I did it: iW13 - Easily Transfer Website Folders From MobileMe to a 3rd Party Server.
This tutorial explains how I host multiple sites with just one domain name: iW16 - Using HostExcellence.com with iWeb. The same can be done with subdomains but the folder method I used was easer in my opinion.
Depending on your website's design and intented use iWeb an still be a viable web builder.  However, for more complex websites and connecting with mobile users one will have to begin using other applications.  Read the following:
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
You can move you 3 websites to a new host in no time and save money doing it.

  • Verizon still playing their "dishonest" games...be afraid, be VERY afraid!

Just another post to let everyone know Verizon is still playing their dishonest and underhanded games.  FYI I "had" two Verizon landlines one of which I am in the process of canceling & porting the number over to my Ooma Telo (www.ooma.com) from which Verizon is suppose to then close and terminate my account. Having performed my due diligence and realized how expensive Verizon is now compared to others,  I purchased and installed a Ooma Telo almost a month ago and had Ooma port the Verizon number over.  Paperwork, authorization and confirmation for porting  were emailed to me from Ooma leaving just for Verizon to complete their end.  It is now almost a month and as of this morning Verizon has yet to complete their part making me a captive audience to their outrageous pricing for another month.
For those who are concerned over some of the outrageous prices charged by Verizon bordering on piracy, lack of follow-up, and a oblivious lack of concern for their customers, you might want to consider using  VOIP phone providers such as www.ooma.com, www.phonepower.com, www.magicjack.com, etc.    I have tried to give Verizon every reason why I would want to stay as a phone subscriber however time and time again they have not been very responsive to any of my concerns or needs. If my Verizon phone number porting takes any longer I will have no recourse but to then initiate a email campaign to the regulatory agencies just so I can motivate Verizon to do what is expected for their subscribers...even though who are in the process of canceling their Verizon services.

Here are the states impacted by this very raw deal Verizon has sold us out to.
AZ, ID, IL, IN, MI, NV, NC (except Knotts Island), OH, OR, SC, Crows-Hermatite (VA), WA, WI, and the following communities in California that border AZ, NV and OR–Big River, Blythe, Coleville, Crescent City, Desert Center, Eagle Mountain, Earp, Felicity, Fort Dick, Gasquet, Klamath, Kneeland, Markleeville, Merced, Needles, Orick, Parker Dam, Ripley, Smith River, Topaz, Trinidad, Vidal and Winterhaven.
Customers no longer truly matter to Verizon unless your in a big metro area where they installed FiOS.  When will the states wakeup?  Verizon has consistently promised then broke the promises they made to rural Americans.  Our money helped to finance and pay for the FiOS  network that they so enjoy profitting from.  But do we get a chance to even see the fuit of our tarrifs, taxes and fees that help build it?  Nope, it's time the FCC stopped the nonsense with big corporate telecos such as Verizon.

    USELESS ONLINE HELP FACILITIES
For all the amazing productivity aids that APPLE offers the world I have to report that their online support service is worse than useless and has recently been the source of immense time wasting and irritation.
Incident 1. Since many months attempts to download new and updated APPs produced a response – Apple ID Disabled. I had no time to consult an APPLE Store due to work in distant lands. When I finally visited yesterday I was told that as my IPAD has been reported as stolen, and APPLE in its wisdom had blocked its usage! I am not sure how they became so misinformed and nobody every advised me while with a few swift moves APPLE could have located me by email address or SKYPE.
Incident 2. Once the above anomaly had been fixed I tried to down load a newspaper and diligently input my address, credit card number and personal data. Repeatedly I was advised that my Credit Card was invalid and my postal code was incorrect! Really!
I was left to guess that having moved from UK to the US I should have advised APPLE! Not being told of this requirement brought about a second visit to APPLE Store in the same day to waste both mine and their time with a routine anomaly. How parochial in the context of a globalized world!
In each case I tried to resolve the issues using online access to a help line and by calling by phone at the numbers on the APPLE Website. In each of four separate occasions I diligently went through the routine and  ended up with a message that thanked me for contacting Apple followed by a polite ‘Good Bye’!
In desperation I went to an Apple Store for the second time in a day as it is close to where I live when I am not working. On both occasions I was courteously attended to by Apple Staff.
However, my work is usually far away from the US and it is generally many thousands of miles to the nearest Apple Store therefore online help is viewed as imperative if one is to resolve issues away from home.
Why can Apple not provide a clearly marked EMAIL address and Telephone number at a Help Desk with real people to respond to requests for help? It would cost nothing in relative terms and might restore my high level of anti-APPLE sentiment that these two recent events have provoked.

Why can Apple not provide a clearly marked EMAIL address and Telephone number at a Help Desk with real people to respond to requests for help?
If that is your question, the answer is at the bottom right of this web page. It is clearly marked "Contact Us" and is the best way, really the only way, to contact Apple.
If there were a publicly posted email address for concerns such as yours, it would be quickly filled with spam in about three minutes, thereby becoming instantly useless to you and everyone else. Apple would need to change it hourly, if not more often. That is also the reason you ought not to post your name, location, and what appears to be your iPad's serial number on this publicly viewable website.
Apple does not respond here and I can find no other questions for your fellow Apple users to answer.

  • Is Verizon not allowing connections to alternate DNS servers anymore?

Last night I ran a DNS benchmark test, and a notice popped up saying my ISP was intercepting and redirecting all outgoing DNS requests. I've been using OpenDNS for a year now without any problems, then I found out last night I am not connecting to their servers, so I tried Googles servers, no luck there either.
I called tech support (several times) and no one could give me a straight answer to my question: Is Verizon not allowing connections to alternate DNS servers anymore? I was forced to switch back to Verizon servers, not happy about that.
Can someone please answer my question? Thanks.

I'm on FiOS and I've got no issues using OpenDNS.  I have the Quantum router set to use it.  Works fine.
I've manually changed DNS on my computer to google's servers.  No problems with this, either.
