Verizon Support Gave Up, USB760

I at first had a UM175 Mobile Broadband USB device, this worked property on my laptop and desktop computers. Then, someone stole my laptop and the UM175 device. I didn't have much money, so I replaced it with a USB760.
What happens is that the device will suddenly disconnect, then it will say "Device not Detected", then "Powering on Device" The device never powers back on. I have to use Windows Task Manager (I am using Windows XP) to close Access Manager because ti has problems closing correctly after this, then I have to unplug and replug the device back in.
I've called support so many times. They sent me a replacement device and that one has the same problems. They told me to change the setting on the computer that allows computer to shut off device to save power, no luck. They had me uninstall and reinstall VZ manager and the modem drivers, no luck. They sent me a Y connector USB wire thing... no luck. I've tried using an older version of Acess Manager, no luck. I've tried dialing the connection without access manager, no luck.
Support over the phone finally said they don't know what else to do. I'm stuck. I would love to buy a UM175 again, but I'm unemployed and can barely afford to pay the 60 dollars a month.

I already own a different kind of USB router thing when I need a WIFI hotspot. The device I have plugs into a USB port. I don't keep it plugged in all the time. I don't have the money to get a cradlepoint. I don't have to use VZaccess software anyway, I found it is possible to connect without using it, but it still has the problem
Also, the drivers for the thing should be up-to-date, but I guess I could check.

  • Does Verizon support J2ME?

We are developing J2ME cell phone based applications for mobile learning and test preparation See
    PowerVocabForGRE2006 at http://www.applimobile.com/
We are running into problems with deploying them on phones from Verizon. I noted that Verizon supports BREW. Does it mean that they have NO SUPPORT for J2ME? Is there an alternate way to get J2ME apps to run on their phones?
Please help! We also have a trial download on our website, so if you wan to try it out on your Verizon phone before replying, that would be awesome. Thanks.

If it support BREW, it does not support J2me! Solution would be:
    1. to port the J2me code to brew
    2. to make BREW wrappers for the J2me code stuff.
And you don't need to spam to aks questions. It works well without all the crap around it ;)

  • Blacklisted IP and no help from Verizon support

According to http://whatismyipaddress.com/blacklist-check my IP is listed with no less than 4 blacklist entities.
My browser was recently prevented from connecting to one of my own client sites (that website's host actually alerted me to this blacklisting), which has since been working, but I have no way of knowing how many other websites might deny access to my IP--or even if my outgoing emails are being denied.
BUT THIS IS NOT AN EMAIL ISSUE. This is a blacklisting issue.
Verizon support via Twitter has been ineffective and pointless:
"Since you have a dynamic IP, we're unable to whitelist your IP at this time. ^JGG"
And Verizon phone support consists of wading through phone menus, waiting 10 minutes to get someone and then listening to them read their script as they fumble around completely and utterly ignorant of what I'm talking about. And then getting disconnected--at least 3 times.
I don't CARE if my IP is "dynamic"; OBVIOUSLY my computer/connection is being IDENTIFIED by an IP that prevented me from visiting that site (and who knows how many others) and, thus, Verizon should be able to erase that from my connection and assign a new [dynamic] one.
All I've gotten so far are excuses, technobabble and stupidity. Anything, that is, but CUSTOMER SERVICE. I pay nearly $100 a month for this **bleep**.

All of Verizon's Dynamic IP's are blacklisted from Email lists.
Somegirl speaks wisely on this issue and is correct, IP's that are blacklisted from websites, are typically a result of an out of date bogon filter, and those filters are maintained by the site hosts not Verizon.   a "work around"  is to simply get a new ip address in a range that your website's host is not blocking.    a long term fix is engaging the site host (not the webmaster) and have them update their bogon filter lists.
The blacklisted email thing, though, if that's the issue, then you can't get around that.
In fact, that's such a common practice that this is what a Company has to say about blacklisted IP's that are Dynamic (this company is not associated with Verizon FYI,  but it shows the industry attitude about dynamic IP's for Email blacklisting)
    http://cbl.abuseat.org/dynamic.html
This IP address is dynamicAs we've mentioned earlier, CBL listings that interfere with legitimate email are almost ALWAYS as a result of virus-infected machines.
The difficulty with dynamic IP addresses is that you may not have had this IP address at the time the virus was infected, so there is nothing you can do to prevent a relisting. Furthermore, the next time you connect, you may well get a new IP address that's already listed.
This situation is particularly common with wireless portals.
So, here the best way to proceed is to avoid having the listing affect you, not remove the listing.
If you have a dynamic IP address, or even just a user of a large ISP, your ISP will have provided you with the name and/or IP address of a mail server you should use to send email. You should put this in your mail reader (or server in some cases) "smart host" or "outbound SMTP server" setting.
Once you do this, you shouldn't be bothered by CBL listings again, and there's no need to delist it.
Even if you could get the CBL to delist it (and we usually do when we're contacted the first time), it's not going to help much in the long run - not only will you likely run into a CBL listing again in the future, other DNSBLs (called "DUL"s) are listing _entire_ dynamic ranges, so the CBL is the least of your problems.
As one example, which we get asked many times about, the DirectWay wireless provider tells their users to set their "outbound SMTP server" to be "smtp.direcway.com". As it turns out, they don't seem to be interested in securing their wireless portal, and supply this to give their users a way around the CBL (and MANY other DNSBL) listings.
Note to ISP staff:The CBL's users expect us to list demonstrably compromised machines. Even if they're dynamic. Do NOT ask us to permanently delist dynamic ranges or any other type of generic end-user pools, because we won't: no exceptions.
The only way you can avoid repeated CBL listings of dynamic IP addresses is to treat the network segment as a NAT'd LAN, and configure your routers to block outbound port 25 from all IP addresses in the range. See NAT information.
It's really pointless to permanently delist dynamic ranges, because "Dialup" DNSBLs (aka "DUL"s) list the whole range anyway.
Solution for email blacklisted customers is different.  configure your machines properly using Verizon's outbound SMTP smtp.verizon.com (ssl and port 465)    you will be subject to their spam policy's with that config, or get a 3rd party SMTP to use.

  • Verizon FIOS Intermittent Packet Loss Problem - How to Convince Verizon Support it's NOT ME

    Hi,
I have been having a problem with Verizon FIOS Internet AND Phone since Thursday afternoon.
Basically I have intermittent outages several times a day of 15-40 seconds where my download doesn't work, but upload still does. This happens on BOTH my phone and internet. Therefore it's not my router or computer equipment causing the problem.
    Here's what happens:
    - On the internet: I have a periodic download problem where I can receive no data for about 15 - 40 seconds. After that it returns to normal
    - On the phone: If I'm on the phone at the same time then during that period of internet loss I also can not hear anything that the person I am talking to says. However they can hear me just fine (ie. download only problem)
I have been talking to Verizon technical support and they have blamed my router and ONT. I have tried switching off the router, and using a different one. Also they have replaced the ONT twice.
    * This problem occurs on BOTH the phone and internet at the same time. This clearly suggests the problem is not in my own house.
In fact I know exactly where the problem lies. I did a traceroute to google below:

Then I pinged each device for hops 2-4. When the problem occurs the first one in the hop - 74.105.157.1 - runs fine. The second device - 130.81.133.156 - times out, and all other devices further down the chain time out. This clearly suggest that the device:
    130.81.133.156 has major problems.
I have mentioned this to tech support, but they have no way for me to send them logs. Apparently the support technicians at Verizon can not be trusted with even the most basic of tools like email and the web. They also shield me from the NT (Network technician), who is so special that even the tech support guys are only allowed to text chat with him, not actually talk to him. I have enough logs here to clearly show what the problem is.
The latest from tech support is that they are sending yet another guy by my house tomorrow to witness this problem firsthand. Then he will call support that will text chat with the NT, and MAYBE they'll start thinking it's not me.
My main question here is: "How do I get Verizon to believe it really could be a problem in their own network?"
Here are some threads from last year that explain exactly the same problem I'm having. So it wasn't just me:
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-TV-Technical-Assistance/Verizon-FIOS-intermittent-connection-drops...
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/Intermittent-Network-Timeouts/m-p/28138
One person said Verizon finally fixed it by replacing a PON card. I'm not sure if this is the same problem as that though.
I am an avid Starcraft player and this is driving me crazy because I am getting dropped from my games all the time. Also phone conversations suck when there's these big lags where I can't hear who I'm talking to.
I have had Verizon FIOS internet for 3 years now and this is the first problem I've ever had with it. But I'm starting to get majorly frustrated at how long it's taking to resolve the problem.
Here is a sample of the ping logs I was talking about for different devices all at the same time.

I understand your logic, but you have not eliminated 74.105.157.1 as the problem.  It could be allowing packets out, like outside callers hearing you, but not allow them back in. Since you have results pinging out, trying ping back in. Use this packet loss tool.  You do not need to catch it when it's not working because this tool will ping your IP address (and all the hops in between) for up to 7 days. You will easily see when packet loss is occurring.
If it can successfully ping 74.105.157.1 when the problem occurrs, then 130.81.133.156 is not the issue. This may not help dealing with the personalities at Verizon, but it will help definitively knowing which device is the issue.

  • Why is Verizon support for Backup Assistant so limited?

Folks, I have wasted a whole day looking for a solution to this problem. Perhaps this posting will save someone from wasting their time.
After over an hour on the phone with two customer support people and a wasted hour at the local Verizon corporate store, and endless hours searching for an answer online, I am at a dead end. There are hundreds of reports in these forums about problems with Backup Assistant (BA). There are instructions on the Verizon website that indicate BA will work if you follow the steps. It just ain't so. Seems to me all Verizon cares about is selling the latest and greatest smart phones.
Here's the story. Backup Assistant was working on an LG VX6100. It is a tedious program, but at least contacts could be backed up when it worked.
Today I transferred the 6100 to a new number for a family member, and activated an LG VX8300 for myself. The first phone customer support person directed me through the same steps numerous times and just couldn't believe that the menu options they spoke of were NOT on the phone. I was finally turned over to a second customer support person who directed me through exactly the same futile steps. I read them the same error message over and over again. It was: "Unable to retrieve catalog. Please try again later (3332)." Then I was directed to go to a Verizon store in town for help. Another useless venture. I brought along the following instructions which I found in one of the forums here:

Correct Answer Re: VX8300 "No Application" Message, also an Error (3332)

This response several months ago from MikeS_VZW - there IS a fix but as rep may have to look to find it -
We hear your!  I have posted several things about not being able to access the Get It Now catalog on some older devices.  Before, there was no way to get your access back to the catalog.  You had to upgrade to a new device if you did not access the catalog between September and March 25, 2011.  There has been a lot of feedback about not being able to access the catalog, so we made it possible to get it back.
Here's what you need to do to get your Get It Now access back on your older phone:
    1) Ensure you are able to access other data on your phone (go to settings & tools> My Verizon or My Account) this does not charge megabytes, but does connect to data.  This will ensure other data is working.
    2) Make sure you don't have blocks on your line that is preventing you from accessing the Get It Now catalog (app blocks, etc.)
    3) Take it into any Verizon Wireless corporate store (authorized dealers/premium retailers will probably not have this ability).
    4) Explain your issue to them.  If you are getting error 3332 when you bring up Get It Now, let them know.
    5) A representative will plug your phone into a computer and flash the certificate/update onto your phone (we have articles in our information database to walk them through that if it's their first time.
    6) Enjoy having access to your Get It Now catalog again!
This is new information. Before, the only option was to get a different phone.  I know this sounds cheezy, but we do hear you. Lots of feedback came about due to this change, and although we tried to be proactive as possible to alert the affected users, there were some that fell through the cracks.  Feel free to PM me or call customer service at 800-922-0204 for further information about this.
Good luck!  And note it specifies CORPORATE STORE - that may be why you weren't getting anywhere before.  Use the Store Locator (top right of your screen) to make sure you are dealing with a corporate rather than "authorized reseller".
The store clerk read it. After dinking around with the phone for 15 minutes he said he thought a software update for the LG VX8300 might help. He took it in the secret back room, and came out a few minutes later and said that they didn't have the latest version because the IT people hadn't made it available to them and probably wouldn't because the phone was an older phone. Apparently anything older than 4 years is ancient in Verizon's eyes. He suggested I might be able to get it directly from LG. He also said I could bring in the VX6100 and maybe they could transfer the contacts directly from it to the VX8300 if they could find a cable. However, that still leaves me with no Backup Assistant. That was that.
LG does indeed have updates available online, but it requires a special LG USB cable which I do not have. For instructions visit

    Ideas, anyone?
This whole ordeal does not make me want to commit to a 2-year contract that comes along with new equipment.

I noticed that you posted this a couple of months ago...  I just activated an old VX8300 as well and am having the same error messages.  Did you have any luck getting it figured out?
I agree with you as well.  I am getting married in June and do not want to upgrade to any kind of data plan for 2 years and after we get married we're switching to Sprint, not this Verizon garbage with the worst customer service that only cares about screwing people over in this terrible economy. (Sorry, enough ranting from me, just curious if you ever got it fixed? Thanks!)

  • Verizon support of 64 bit systems

    :robotmad
VERIZON WIRELESS NONE SUPPORT OF 64 BIT SYSTEMS
My wife and I recently dropped a bundle on a couple droid smart phone pakages without being told up front that the Droid X and I presume other smart phones are not compatible with a 64 bit system when installing the Verizon Media Manager. I do believe that Verizon should be telling all their people to forewarn people about the problem prior to the purchase. Perhaps at least telling them an update is in the makes. When i called Tech support on this, the first person I talked with didn't even know what I was telling her, she put me on permanent hold. I returned the call and talked with a knowledgable person in the know, all he could do was appologize over and over. Verizon should let the consumers know whats going on!!!!!:

Media Manager only handles media; videos, pictures and music. If you want to swap files such as a word processor file, it will not help. As was said, if you tether your phone to your computer with the USB cord, the computer will see the phone as another drive and you can drag and drop all you want, whatever you want.

  • Support gave me an early upgrade and ordered phone for me. Card was not charged, no conformation e-mail...Nothing?

My Samsung Galaxy S3 has been broken for about two months now. The lock button is broken so my phone shuts off and won't turn on for hours, it just vibrates. My phone sometimes has absolute zero service, while my boyfriend had full bars. So, I called support and they gave me an early upgrade, I told them I wanted to get the HTC One M8 and in what color, they told me how much it would be and said it would be confirmed Sunday and would be shipped Monday. Well, it is now Monday night and my card has not been charged, I have no e-mail from them, and online it says I have ordered a new device for my current phone so I don't have an upgrade, but I go to my receipts or documents and there is nothing?
I need my phone and I've tried calling support, but my phone is broken....

        Hi Adrela!
I'm sorry to learn about your device! I'm glad you are getting a new device so you can enjoy our service again! Were you given an order number? You can check http://vz.to/1ppeDLI to check the progress of the order?

  • Connection problem on Ipad3 and Iphone 4S after receiving assistance from verizon support

How do I fix this? I spoke to "expert tech" about how my Verizon email suddenly converted to Yahoo - which I didn't like. Unfortunately in his remedy to fix I lost my server connection to my IPad and Iphone in addition to all of previous read and unread emails, folders etc... Now I can't even use my Ipad to check emails. Can't seem to find a way to talk to a support person via "help" b/c cannot seem to access a support person. I'm not happy right now. In fact, I'm frustrated and extremely disappointed.. The support did not seem to really know anything and as a result I'm starting fresh after losing 3 years of data. I I did however, get back my Verizon email acct but at a huge cost. Now why did my connection fail on my other devices and how do I fix it? Please anyone please help!!!! I don't want to mess with the Ipad for fear of losing more info. This really sucks. I know there had to be a better solution.

First off Yahoo Mail has nothing to do with Verizon Email. However lets clarify something first. When you say verizon email are talking about an email account established through Verizon Fios, DSL ? Or are you referring to the email program that is native to the iPad and iPhone?
In the set up of your email accounts with the mail programs you go to settings, mail-contacts-calendar, then click add account, it then gives you options to set up your pop3 email or exchange email, or msn, aol, etc.
If you use Verizon.com for an email address you would click on pop email, then put in the information for that account.
normally its your email address ([email protected] or [email protected]) of which the proper settings are available from the Verizon Fios or DSL internet site. You enter the smtp server info you were given from verizon in the space provided, and you then enter the pop3 server information in the proper spot. You finish up by entering your email password in the setup settings and click save.
Setting up for yahoo, man, aol mail is much simplier since all it requires is your email address and password and the setup program for these web based email fills in the incoming and outgoing smtp server info for you.
Always remember to make sure the "remove from server" option is not checked since it then becomes device dependent where if you leave it on the server you can retrieve from any browser the emails without losing them.
    Good Luck

  • Is there an email contact for verizon support so I can send all of my questions regarding our plan?  I have 6 kids and my own phone (7 phones)

I would like to have my plan fully reviewed as I have 7 phone lines and am paying $418/month, but T mobile offered same plan (with more data) for $290.  Reps in the store are no help in reviewing our plan for best options- last time resulted in our cost GOING UP.  I have tried calling but being put on hold too long

There's no longer an email address for customer support.
You can post on the forum and then direct message one of the Verizon reps after they respond (which can be 2 - 3 days).
