Border-image is a CSS3 property. Many browsers don't support it.

Vertical Ruler and Preprinted Forms

I am creating a Bill of Lading in CR2008 which must be printed on a preprinted form on a dot matrix printer.
There are boxes which have to have information in them. I can measure on the form from the top and left where the data needs to go, but when looking at Crystal, it is hard to tell how the vertical ruler works.
In the Report Header, I have a 1 showing, then there is another 1 in the Page Header, another 1 in the Details.
How can you accurately measure from the top edge of the page down using the vertical ruler? Am I making this too complicated?

Pretty much what he said. I just did an invoice and packlist on dot matrix printer with pre-printed forms. You have to determine whether the printer is doing 8 lpi or 6 lpi and 10, 12 or 15 cpi. Adjusting all of your sections to be a multiple of .125" or .167" will let you back in to the vertical positioning. Make sure you use a mono spaced font available on the printer (usually Courier New) and font size 8 for 15cpi, 10 for 12 cpi or 12 for 10 cpi. You can then figure your horizontal positions based on that.
It will take some tweaking after you layout your first pass.

Vertical Ruler in Pages '13

Yes, it's gone.
A suggestion (which I've done): create a new Pages document and insert an image of a ruler, so that it's positioned down the left hand side. Start off with a screen "selection" grab of the Pages ruler from an A3 landscape doc and rotate it 90 degrees in Preview (save it as a png). Insert into the Pages doc and set in "Arrange" to stay on page, and the height to 29.7mm (US page sizes will need something different).
You then have this document open behind the one you're working on, slightly to the left to show the ruler, and with the window wider than the front one, in case you need to scroll down.
If this ruler image is the same size (scale) as the Pages one, the relative size should stay correct if you zoom both documents to the same %.
An alternative would be to include the ruler image in your actual document and delete it before printing (but Pages did not insert it at the right size, so this would have to set each time).
I create a lot of documents which are printed "two up", and need to know where halfway down the page is, to insert a section break, so the loss of the vertical ruler is rather annoying.

Suggestions - Vertical Ruler or the ability to set horizontail guides for various view ports.

The suggestion link seems to be broken so I am posting here in hopes someone will see it. Edge Reflow would benefit greatly from the addition of a vertical ruler. Unless this is a view aready that I am somehow missing. Also it would be cool to be able to set a horizontal guides in the canvas grid (DOM). This would help in allowing the user set a guide for multiple viewing areas.
And the pie in the sky, Santa Claus Christmas list of all request would be the ability to "blend" break points. It would be cool to set a 2000px view and a bookend break-point at 1024px, work both compositions to the desired look and have a "blend tool" that scales all the elements to the desired look form 2000px to 1024px.

What happened to the vertical ruler? It's such an important function is a page layout system.

There is soo much I like akbout the new Pages software, but I find ity almost unusable without the left had vertical ruler. What gives? I will use the last version until this is added. Actually, until it is corrected.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Export your Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx and trash/archive Pages 5.
Then rate/review Pages 5 in the App Store.

Pages update - vertical ruler still missing?

Pages update says there is a vertical ruler. But when I click 'View Ruler', only the horizontal ruler at the top appears. What am I missing?

Whilst my powers are great they are not so great as to make Apple programme their software correctly.

Gray area between vertical ruler and edge of page – remove

I have a pages file where there is a large gray area between the edge of the page and the vertical ruler. I don't know where it came from but I want to get rid of it. I have a new file that I just opened from my templates and he does not have this large gray area.
I tried looking, clicking on things and scratching my head and nothing works.
I tried to add a couple J pigs to show what I'm talking about but can't do it. Anyway any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I'm not sure what you're seeing.
Check the documents printer settings. They may be set for different printers. Perhaps Any Printer. If they'e not set for your printer, change them and see what you get.

Mail Rules Question

I have a lot of email on my Gmail account. A semi significant portion of them are status updates, such as Facebook, Pownce, Netflix, and other site updates. In the past when I used POP, it wasn't such a big deal to keep these emails because Gmail offers something like 4GB of space. However, now that I am switching to IMAP, it's taken me forever sync with all 14,000 emails on the Gmail server.
I don't want to have to do that again, especially not on my iPhone.
My question is this: Is it theoretically possible to setup a mail rule to have a specific folder delete all its contents after a specified amount of time? Looking in the default mail rule options, there is the ability to delete email as it comes in, but not necessarily after, say, 30 days. I'm looking for something along the lines of, "every 30 days, delete everything in this mail folder."
Any ideas?

Yeah, that's what I figured.
Another option is writing an AppleScript and selecting the "Run AppleScript" rule option, but I'm a) not 100% it's even possible, and b) rusty on AppleScript.

Try to change your code to look like this

Vertical rules in paragraph style?

Hi,
I'm about to design a book with a lot of interviews. To make it a bit easier for the reader to follow I've designed a thin colored line to the left of the paragraph indicating who's saying what (see pic). The problem is that I can't seem to make these lines with the paragraph style which will be a problem further down the line if I do it manual with the line-tool. So my question is; Dose anyone have a solution that will make the lines flow dynamically together with the text?

Make a Paragraph Rule Above
Basically - on the paragraph go to Paragraph Rules in the Paragraph Style
Then Apply a negative right or left indent and set the point size to equal the leading of the paragraph, so if you have 5 lines and the leading is 14pt, then the pt size for the thickness of the rule should be 70
For 8/14pt with 8 lines of text
So Rule Below (tick box)
Color: (pick a color)
Weight 113pt (14 x 8 = 113)
Width = Column
Offset = 108 pts
Left indent = -8.5 pts
Right indent = 173pts
(adjust left and right indents to vary thickness)
It's not perfect as if the text increases or decreases you have to adjust the size of the line.

Oracle Business Rules Question

Hi,
I'm pretty new with Oracle Rules. I've had no trouble using them, to date. I define Java classes, set up the facts in Rules Author, and create the Dictionary, Ruleset, and rules... etc.
I can run them fine, and the technology works as expected. My question is... what if my underlying data structures for the facts (the java class(es) in my case) change?
From what I see with the Rules Author tool, there isn't an obvious way to sync up the underlying fact with events on the ground. I can see there would be a really good reason for not allowing attributes/methods/props to be removed (without redoing (some of???) the rulesets/rules)... but I am really interested in the ability for adding methods/attributes/etc to the underlying structures without rework.
Here is my use case: I set up an initial fact and a ruleset for our clients with which to build rules. They add 500 rules. They now request the "fact" include another "new" attribute to be available in all new rules. Do I have to start over, and redo the 500 rules to accommodate the new attribute? There must be something which eases the pain... but I haven't found it yet.
Any help in this issue would be most appreciated!

First, I found that the following rules have been left out of the CSS:

These rules are vital for IE.

AD OID mapping rule questions

Can someone please tell me how to map the first and last names from AD to OID in the mapping file. Currently I have the following and wanted to make sure if it's correct:
sn,SAMAccountName: : :person:sn: :person:sn|SAMAccountName
givenName: : :person:givenName: :person
# Map the userprincipalname to the nickname attr by default

The other question I have is why we need to disable userprincipalname rule when the following is enabled. As I am also trying to enable WNA/SSO too, what other rules I need for that in my mapping file.

I have these first two rules here and they seem to be working fine. But I think you will have trouble with the third one with WNA authentication.
About the two last rules for uid, the reason you can only have onle one of these is that both are storing a value on the uid attribute. You need to choose wether you want to use the samaccountname or the userprincipalname on it.
I remember seeing somewhere that for WNA authentication to work the uid should be in the format [email protected], so you would need to map userprincipalname to uid instead of samaccountname, I am not absolutely sure about this since I have never setup WNA.
And also you would need to populate the krbprincipalname. I think this one is automatically copied to the orclsamaccountname attribute, which is required. I have a rule like this here:
userPrincipalName: : :user:krbPrincipalName: :orcluserv2:trunc(userPrincipalName,'@')+'@'+toupper(truncl(userPrincipalName,'@'))

Rules Question -Criteria-single or multiple?

Say you are making a rule like if the subject contains any of these items, then move to trash...
Can you put multiple items in the string like this: refinance hoodia cialis viagra valium mortgage
or should they be separated by commas or should each item be by itself as a separate condition?

If I change the Style for date input to Year, Month and Day edits on an Entity Instance collect screen, it will build and debug correct. The issue is that if I close the project and try to re-open it, the following error will show.
*"Item has already been added. Key in dictionary:'_input-style' Key being added: '_input-style'"*
After importing the files into a new project (because it didn't open anymore) I noticed that by trying to import the Interview Screens file it gives the same error. After some more research I noticed that it gave the error after changing the input Style at an Entity Instance collect screen.
How can I still change the Style to Year, Month and Day edits (because in Dutch we normally notate dates like dd-mm-yyyy instead of yyyy-mm-dd)? Single Edit (default) is a bit unnatural, because even with all the settings being in Dutch you still need to input the date with yyyy-mm-dd.
