Very irresponsible behavior from Adobe

All write operations on PCs installed with LR2 will not work at all, will report an error and corrupt the database. Things like convert to DNG or create virtual copy or write metadata to files. This is a documented bug internally at Adobe and according to Adobe engineers that I have been in (extensive) discussion with will be fixed on the next release. I am using 1.4.1 now until the next release as per Adobes recomendation.
No one at Adobe is reporting on this to customers. I spent the better part of a day and evening helping Dustin Bruzenak (software engineer) at Adobe debug and try to find the source of this very serious bug. To be honest with you I am a bit pissed off that this has not been reported in the Lightroom Journal. This not a game! We are dealing with some serious time and money on the photographers part that could be lost. We are dealing with peoples assets here!!!!. Please discuss this with engineers at Adobe to verify what may seem to you some hysterical rant from me. Since no one will report it at Adobe officially I thought I would post what is going on and let the cards fall where they may.
The most ammazing thing about all this is that most of the bimbos on this forum are clueless about this or the severity of it. This is a far more serious issue that the 1.4 situation for PC users.
P.S. It is not a conversion issue. Even if you create a new catalog from scratch it's still there. This does not affect Mac users

Not ranting but...the silence is deafening. :)
How I do things...
1) Download from the card via Windows Explorer to a folder I generate on a 500gig external (my RAW collection...all CR2 formats)
2) Use "Rename" to globally changed the file names to a YYYYMMDD-Name_xxxx.CR2 format
3) Use FastStone Viewer (or Irfanview) to cull out the bad ones
I do these 3 things seperate from LR as it's faster, more user intensive perhaps but speed is substantially less than letting LR do it for me.
Then I crank up LR2...
4) Import as DNG to folder in "My Pictures"
5) Do my editing.
So far so good. But it was only a few nights ago I realize (via the error message) that I couldn't do VC in LR2. To test I imported as DNG using 1.4.1 and could do a VC. So I don't believe it's a hardware or OS issue (I would suspect that it was if VC didn't work in 1.4.1)
I'm using XP Pro SP2 and have been for years.
As I do know that 1.4.1 *does* work...and...I've only just started into LR2 (barely) I guess I could revert back to 1.4.1 in the interim until the issue is resolved.
But to get back to my initial response, better communication from Adobe regarding acknowledged problems and a timeline towards solution *would* be good to get. How difficult would it be for 'thems in the know' to send out a blanket email?
Anyway, at least there seems to be some movement on this. Good. Thanks.

  • Inconsistent Behavior from Bluetooth Audio

I've noticed very inconsistent behavior from my bluetooth headset and my iPhone 4. Work fine for voice calls, but doesn't work for a GPS Navigator or Voip. Works for Facetime most of the time, but sometimes won't. Anyone else having this kind of inconsistencies?

I was told by support that it is normal for bluetooth headsets to only work for voice calls on the iPhone 4. That really doesn't make sense to me, so I can't use a GPS Navigator with voice turn by turn directions with my bluetooth headset? My ancient 5 year old Motorola Razr would do that.

  • What are the specs to validate a PDF file? is there a PDF validator available from Adobe?

I have the following situation: In our company use a software product to schedule our engineers and inform our customers when one of our engineers visits them, to do this the following steps happen:
the software product is running on a SQL server 2008 R2 database and calls a standard function from SQL server to create a PDF file (PDF version 1.3)
Then this PDF file is attached to an Email which is then sent to our customers.
Some customers don't use email but they use a fax. For this we have use an email2fax product from our telephone provider which translates the email to a fax.
When the software product creates the email, attaches the PDF and sends it to the email2fax solution the attached is discarded.
The email2fax should send the attachment as well but it's not doing that.
When I manually send an email with an attached PDF (PDF version 1.5) the attachment is sent to the customer as a fax
When I open the original PDF file created by SQL server and save it again as PDF version 1.5, then attach it to an email and send it to the email2fax the attachment gets send as well.
When I open the original PDF file created by SQL server and save it again as PDF version 1.3, then attach it to an email and send it to the email2fax the attachment gets send as well.
When we send the email from the software product, with the PDF created by SQL server in version 1.3, to another email address the attachment is included in the mail.
    some conclusions so far:
The PDF file in version 1.3 is created in SQL server and is usable in all products which read PDF files, except in the email2fax solution
the email to the email2fax software contains the PDF attachment
the email2fax software can handle a PDF version 1.3 file but not the file created by SQL server.
We gave these results to the supplier of the email2fax solution and their response is: "A PDF file is a valid PDF file when it is created by Adobe software"
My conclusion would be that they are wrong as PDF is a standard created by Adobe but that doesn't mean other software products can't comply with this standard and create a valid PDF file, but I have no way of telling them how they are wrong and without a stronger argument I can't convince them to investigate the problem.
    extra info:
Portable Document Format - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    My questions are now:
Is there a PDF validation tool available from Adobe which would confirm that our PDF file generated by SQL server is a valid PDF file?
    Or
Does anyone know if SQL server 2008R2 does create invalid PDF files and if there is a fix available to solve this behavior?
Any help in understanding this problem is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your reply and your time reading this long question.
    Regards,
    Arjen

It is a high order probability that your SQL's report generator is creating the PDF, not Acrobat (which by design and EULA cannot be used in as/with server).
That the report generator outputs to an old-old version of PDF bears this out.
Wiki articles on PDF are very nice for those high level intro summaries.
To know / understand PDF you purchase and study the ISO Standard for PDF (ISO 32000-1:2008).
Rather than "PDF validation" you may want to consider addressing the appearent root cause of the problem(s).
You can change the email2fax application to one that can deal with older PDF versions.
You can change the report generator to one that can output to the ISO Standard.
(Perhaps the in-use application can be configured to output to the current version of PDF (i.e., the ISO Standard).
    Be well...

  • How do you get support from Adobe?

I cannot get any support or answers from Adobe. Chat: they said they couldn't answer my question, I had to call the support phone number. I did this. They asked for my phone number and said they would call back in 30 to 40 minutes. They called back in 5 minutes. I was then put on hold for just over an hour. And then they hung up on me.
I've had very few problems with Adobe in the past 10 years. Always quick, sweet help. Now, nothing.
How do we get help? Or are we just out of luck - too big, don't care?
Here's my problem: I am a Creative Cloud member. I downloaded Flash CS6 on my main computer, and my laptop. I rarely used the laptop, but had to start using it. As I was working with Flash on the laptop I noticed the brush tool did not have any options on the toolbar. No size, pen tool use, nothing. I restarted the program. Still nothing. So, I reset the program by holding down cmd+option+shift as I restarted the program. The proper message came up asking if I wanted to reset, I clicked yes. Still didn't fix the issue.
Given this program was downloaded, and knowing that problems can happen if the line "burps" during a large download I figured I'd simply uninstall Flash completely, and they go back and download it again. Nope, the button for download says it has been downloaded.
Now what? Adobe apparently can't help. Any ideas?

So, the answer is complain on the Adobe Forums if you need help and can't get it through the normal channels.
Thank-you for your help. After running the CS Cleaner tool it found a lingering file, which seemed to be related to AIR. Apparently I didn't get a clean uninstall and that's why the CC apps saw that Flash was on my machine. After CS Cleaner did its thing, the download became available.
I just wish getting the answer wasn't so stressful and time consuming. Adobe provides great products, now they just need to follow up with great customer service.

  • Firefox29, on a new win7 computer which has never had ff installed, will not install the latest flash plugin from adobe.

I promise to refrain from venting my disgust :-) but when FF 9 blew up the entire web. I had all kinds of issues so I did things like Bill Gates taught us to do. I re-installed windows 7, brand new, formatted HD and all. The very first thing I did was open IE to download FF29 from the mozilla site and it installed. I went to pages I know have fits with flash on purpose, www.nydailynews.com, for instance and got the message that no flash was installed, do I want to install it? Well, yes, I have brand new FF on a brand new computer, so to ahead. Did the usual, installed Flash, shut down, and even rebooted the computer, and golly gee, the web pages tell me I have no flash installed. Its in IE, and of course chrome, and it appears in the installed program control panel, but I can't use flash with FF 29.
I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled win 7, then installed ff 28. Went to adobe and installed their latest flash version, and still no flash in any version of firefox. I also checked the option to never update, but when I rebooted an opend FF29, it miraculously turned into FF29, and of course still does not work with the flash plugin.
I think firefox has had a world of trouble with Adobe Flash for over a year and have hoped for a solution. Basically a browser that cannot run Flash media is totally useless. I wonder why this problem was no addressed and corrected, when instead all the the resources were put into raping my computer and forcing FF29 onto it?
I am not a cry baby, who wants to complain, but will you please fix this issue so I don't have to abandon my favorite browser.. I don't enjoy Chrome, and IE is just not an option for me.
Before you make any moreoverhauls on the UI, could you fix the problems with flash. I find it a little condescending to tell a 25 year user of computers to make sure " you have the latest versions" when in fact I have a brand new install of windows and the very latest from Adobe and Mozilla and they do no wok together, even when I down grade to FF 28, which as I told you, automatically upgrades to FF 29 each time I boot up.
Please help. IF installing the latest Adobe onto a brand new hard drive and install of windows 7 fails, what do you suggest, as the usual " version issue" cannot apply here.
FWIW, I have vista on my laptop with the same problems, the same reinstalls and the same guaranteed latest versions. Since the hd is formtted, there cannot be an residual FF dlls hanging around or in the registry.
I have always seen open source as the way to the future, since the first PC arrived, but its looking like a bad idea.
If you want to build a firefox that works, I will pay for it, so long as I can get help when things break. Browsers are huge in the web, so paying for reliable performance seems like a fair thing to do.
I am sorry, but I am frustrated at the lack of progress towards a solution and really do not wish to be told to see if I am using the latest versions. I have taken every step possible and gone all the way to a brand new machine and FF does not work with flash reliably.
    Help? Please?

adobe test page says it is installed. but I said, some pages I visit say I don't have it installed.
I use prefbar ( I delete it and reinstall to make sure its not an issue) usually because it lets me turn off flash and avoid the crashing and locking up but when I check the flash block on prefbar, it says " plugin is not loaded"
I posted from the machine that does not work, but it does not work on my Vista Laptop, or my daughter's computer either. In all cases, I wiped the drives and reinstalled the OS and went directly to Firefox for 29 and to adobe for their latest.
Flash IS installed on my machine... It works in IE, and Chrome, but firefox 29 does not install the flash plugin, even tho the installer says all is well
The reason I went totally clean is to make sure there was no process blocking it or if Java was creating the issue as well. The reality is, I started with a brand new computer, three times, and Flash will not load into Firefox 29 in any case
I have started clean many times now and backed up and installed ff 28. I had no problem with the flash plugin using ff28, . I would have stayed there, but when shut down ff 28 and opened it later, it "magically downgraded to version 29" and i do mean " downgraded -( even tho I had gone into options and said do not install updates.
I am grateful for your attention. I find that web browsers are very important anymore, an a non functional one makes the web a waste. I mentioned www.nydailynews.com and would really not want to make a long list of every page that demands a flash plugin, for they are legion that I don't have, mostly because when the page wants flash, FF locks up. Its will not even let me copy the URL to try and make a list, but the browser is totally locked up and I have to kill the process I get the message I have been getting for about a year that the shockwave plugin has stopped working. There is no shockwave on my computer.
I know it looks like I have two different problems as the plugin does not load, but for instance, when I got it worrking in FF28, it loaded but constantly crashed an locked up the browser with the shockwave message, even tho I never install shockwave any time
Frustration is the word for the day, or the week :-)
    Thanks much
    Kind regards,
    John

  • Can anyone help me get a serial number from Adobe & Identit-e?

I bought the Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard Student & Teacher edition through Amazon online. I followed the instructions inside the package to verify my eligibilty as an educator. I received a message on the screen after submitting my materials that I was verified & I would be receiving a serial number.  This was on June 1. I contacted Adobe Chat and a rep. told me to wait 2 -3 business days, but still no email with serial number had arrived. On June 7, I contacted Adobe Chat again and the rep told me to contact customer service at identit-e.  I have sent  identit-e two emails with no response. It has been one week of trying to get my serial number from either Adobe or identit-e.  Can anyone help me get my serial number?
    Product Code <removed by moderator>.
My work email is <Removed by moderator>

    Jeff,
I ordered through Amazon and not through Adobe so there is not a record of my order on the Adobe website.  I do have a record of the order with Amazon so I requested a refund through Amazon.  The product is unusable without the serial number.  It has been 8 days since my eligibility  was verified with identit-e.  I have spoken with three Adobe rep.s and two unanswered email to identit -e trying to get the serial number since I was verified as eligible to receive the student/educator version of Creative Suites. I am very disaapointed with the lack of help I have received from Adobe with this issue.
Being referred to identit-e or to a FAQ page is not what I needed to solve the problem- I needed the serial number  I have lost complete confidence in Adobe's customer service and that the serial number will ever be provided.

  • Did you get a letter from adobe regarding a security incident?

Hello Adobe forum participants. This may be my first and last posting. I recently received a letter from Adobe systems regarding a security breach. The letter said that my info was caught up in the digital snatch and grab opperation. The letter basically states that i should do the cover-your-financial-*** dance by monitoring my accounts and obtaining a free credit report. It also directed me to some good info provided by the Federal Trade Commission at consumer.gov/idtheft
The most disturbing part of the letter came from it's recomendation that i activate my "complimentary membership" with protectmyid.com. Luckily before hitting return after filling out the first page of the sign-up page, I decided to google this company and see what was being said about them and their service.
Long story made short, do some research before give away your sensitive info. I've never done business with this company, I have no personal knowledge of any wrong doing on their behalf but if you read the testimonials provided by people who signed up for the id-protection service you may find yourself pumping the breaks as I did.
Why Adobe would recomend that we use this service is a mystery to me, and yes, I asked.
I used the chat option under customer service and asked,
"Can you please tell me why Adobe would direct me to a Company with questionable credentials to resolve the recent security problems you've been experience?"
    The person, whom I'm sure was providing me with scripted answers said this;
"I would request you to write us an email to [email protected] and the relevant team will check on this and contact you back via confirmation email."
Fair enough. The guy was scencere, empathetic, and very professional. I'll be sending that email to customer servicee as soon as i finnish this post.
The bottom line is, I love the Adobe brand. The Creative cloud is an awsome service for a complete novice like me. Their are definate risks associated with doing business online but the only way to minumize them is to either discontinue your online commerce, or research the hell out of anyone claiming to be able to provide a service in exchange for sensitive finacial information. I need all three of my pennys. what about you?

  • No support from Adobe- going to have to make a complaint with Attorney General

I was recently in a fire (December 2010) and my Creative Suite Design Premium Student Edition was destroyed along with my new MacBook Pro.  I have contacted Adobe since April 20111 to try to acquire a replacement and have had no luck.  First off, I have received automated responses are that are not even a live person.  For example, I explained my situation and that I obviously don't have my serial numbers anymore because they were detroyed in the fire.  Adobe's response, here are your serial numbers, I am sorry you are having a hard time installing your software.  Does that sound like a live person or perhaps a person that does not care.
Secondly, I submitted my proof of purchase (my mom had purchased the computer and Suite for me).  All the information was available right on the sheet I submitted.  They came back and asked me for the e-mail address of my mother so they could look up her student account.  This was after I explained I was the student.
Also, I was informed by two people that I would need to fill out a letter of destruction and one person that told me I didn't.  They also told me I could perform a platform switch since I know have a PC.  However, when they finally got around to responding to my inquiry, they said it wasn't available anymore and I needed to upgrade to 5.5.  Now mind you, I had CS5 and Cs5.5 came out in April.  I have been contacting them since May, so they mean to tell me they have no more CS5 for PC?  No, they are just trying to upsell, which would mean $399 for me.
I am very disgusted with the service at Adobe and the fact that they know they have a monopoly.  They can have workers from other countries who live chat with you, and it takes 10 minutes for them to translate.  Not to mention the fact that if you need support by phone your wait time is 40 minutes.  They also have a tendency to close my cases even before they are resolved.  I know there is a window of 5 days you have to respond in e-mail, which I have done, but they still close it when they feel like they don't want to be bothered.
Have you ever scene the movie, Rainmaker?  This situation is like that movie.  They deny all claims and even when someone keeps submitting they continue to deny, playing the odds that someone won't contact an attorney.  They are totally in the wrong.  There is no way you can say that they are right when they don't actually read e-mails and provide awful customer service.  I feel sorry for the people that work at Adobe and think they have a good job.  Look what your company stands for.  This is why they are not listed in the Better Business Bureau.

You are not addressing Adobe here. This is a user to user forum. The only forum that Adobe has an official presence is the adobe.com forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/adobedotcom_feedback
Reposting there might generate a response from Adobe. I am sorry to here that you have suffered the loss in a fire. Never having been in a fire I cannot imagine what you have been through. I have suffered with losses due to flooding and that was bad enough. Adobe may not have a legal responsibility to help you, but maybe Adobe will help if for no other reason than the goodwill it will generate.

  • How to restore files from Adobe Reader for iOS (iPad)?

I started using Adobe Reader for iOS to annote and comment pdf files. I used the Adobe Reader for Mac OS to upload the files to the Acrobat.com cloud.
Opening the files on iPad worked pretty straight forward and I started editing the pdf right away. When opening the pdf again a couple of days later on iPad, the app downloaded the pdf again in an older version with a couple of annotations present, but a couple of the more recent missing. This is a very disturbing behaviour since I cannot understand why it would sync an older version of the pdf from the cloud over the newer one. Luckily, this was no very important edit, but I will be very hesitant to use this feature in the future if there is a likelyhood for this happening again. Is there any possibility to recover the file with the original edits from the iPad?
The second thing that I don't understand is the mismatch of files shown in the adobe creative cloud and on acrobat.com when using the acrobat reader. 2 of the files I uploaded can be seen in both the adobe creative cloud and in the 'acrobat.com' cloud (is that a different thing?) as can be accessed from adobe reader on Mac OS. However, there are also files that can be accessed exclusively from the adobe creative cloud and files that can be accessed exclusively from the 'acrobat.com' cloud. I don't really understand the difference and how to sync the two.
    Help is highly appreciated. Thanks!

    AnAppleADay,
I personally agree that having two separate Adobe cloud storage services (Acrobat.com and Creative Cloud) is confusing and undesirable.  However, I am not able to speculate on Adobe products or services in future releases.
There is no direct way to download files on Acrobat.com to your iPad/iPhone.  However, you can download files from Acrobat.com via the web browser interface (https://cloud.acrobat.com/files) on your Windows or Mac desktop/laptop computer.
Then you can (a) email them to yourself and open them in Adobe Reader on your iPad, which results in storing the files locally on your iPad, or (b) use the desktop version of iTunes to transfer the files from your computer to your iPad.  (It's convoluted.  But I am not aware of any other options.)  However, if you uninstall Adobe Reader for iOS, the operating system will erase all of associated application data including locally stored PDF documents.
I suspect that your problem is related to changes not being saved to Acrobat.com properly (not about syncing to an older version).  When you make a lot of changes to a PDF document (e.g adding annotations or filling out forms), I'd recommend closing the modified PDF document occasionally, which forces Adobe Reader to save the changes to Acrobat.com.  You will have less chance of losing changes due to unexpected problems or defects in Adobe Reader.
Please let us know if you know the steps to reproduce the problem (of losing changes) with a particular file on Acrobat.com.  We can investigate the problem.
    Thank you.

  • I accidently deleted my Acrobat Pro version 9. How does one get the application download from Adobe?

I inadvertantly deleted my Acorobat Pro version 9. How can I get a download from Adobe to recover the application?

    Thank you Sara,
I have been able to fix the Acrobat issue, but not the PS issue. The final option listed is to reinstall the software. Since my optical drive not longer functions I suppose I will need to have that repaired first… unless you have another suggestion.
While I have your attention, can you please help me resolve a Creative Cloud issue I have been having.
I have been installing CC software successfully until I get to Acrobat XI Pro.
I receive the message, “Please close the following applications to continue: SafariNotificationAgent”
I have followed Adobe online instructions but cannot find where to close this function.
If you can help me with this I will be very grateful.

  • Cannot Print PDFs from Adobe Reader

    Hey gang-
Just purchased a new Brother MFC-9420CN color laser printer. Works great- with one exception.
I am unable to print any PDFs with it from Adobe Reader. But note this: The very same PDFs print fine using Preview! I initially discovered this problem using Adobe Reader 7.0.5, so I downloaded and installed the latest Adobe Reader 8.1. No Help. I also reinstalled the latest Brother Drivers- no help.
I then went into Printer Setup Utility and did the Reset Printing System- re-added all Printers- but no help. I am running OS 10.4.9 on a G5 iMac.
I've seen this mentioned elsewhere including here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2643378&#2643378
Thoughts on how to fix this?
    Thanks!
    Dave

When you select print from the menu bar a print
window opens. Verify that the correct printer is
selected. Adobe will over ride some defaults and put
in itself. Let me know if this didn't work.
Thanks Glynn, but the correct printer is indeed selected. This is a weird one!

  • Some Adobe PDF documents don't print from Adobe Reader; with other software it works correctly

    Dear community,
I'm facing the problem that some Adobe PDF documents with lots of colors and lines (size less than 3 MB) don't print on our printers from Adobe Reader XI.
The same files when opened with PDF XChange or PDF Architect are printed out without problems.
How can I provide an Adobe Reader that is able to do so? Any recommendations about solving the issue are very appreciated.
    Best regards
    Christian

Word document problem fixed at the moment by deleting and adding the Lexmark printer again.

  • Problem downloading pdf's from Adobe site

    Hello:
First of all, thank you very much for your time and help in troubleshooting this issue. The issue is as follows: I downloaded Acrobat Reader 9 and it is successfully installed in my applications folder on my Mac. I am trying to download some pdf's from Adobe's Visual Design curriculum. Every time I attempt to click on these links, I get a redirect to install Acrobat Reader 9. It is already installed. I should be able to directly view the pdf but I keep getting this window to download Acrobat 9. I am not sure why I cannot access these documents. I did successfully read one but I haven't been able to read the other five that I tried. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your support.

I also had problems with Adobe Reader 933 on my Mac. I found this info (below).
I deleted and re-installed the Adobe PDF Viewer plugin several
times...eventually something connected. Reader now works, even with the Adobe
    plugin installed.
I don't know why or how, but that's OK with me.
    ...hope this helps,

Configuring Acrobat to display PDF files in Safari
Drag the Acrobat application folder from the CD (or disk image) to the
Applications folder to install Acrobat. The first time you start Acrobat you
will be prompted to accept the end user licence agreement (EULA) and register
Acrobat. After you accept the EULA, Acrobat runs a Self-healing procedure which
checks for any Acrobat components that need to be installed in other
applications. The self-healing process installs the Adobe PDFViewer plug-in
file. The AdobePDFViewer.plugin file is the main file used by Acrobat to view
PDF files in the Safari browser on Mac OS X is the Adobe PDFViewer.plugin; this
file is installed in the Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder.
If you updated or reinstalled your copy of Safari in order to view PDF files,
    then do the following:
         1. Completely remove the old version of Safari.
         2. Install the latest version of Safari.
         3. Remove the Adobe PDFViewer.plugin from the Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder.
         4. In Acrobat run Help > Detect And Repair and choose Adobe PDFViewer.
The first time you start Acrobat or Adobe Reader 8 on Mac OS X, it will
automatically install itself as the default PDF viewer for Safari. In order to
turn this off, start Acrobat or Adobe Reader, go to Preferences > Internet and
uncheck the "Display PDF in Browser" option. This will cause the PDF to display
inside the Safari window using its native PDF viewer.
    Known issues
The following issues have been noted:
When you upgrade from Adobe Reader or Acrobat from 7 to 8 on a Mactel
machine, PDF files no longer show in the Safari window. Instead a large Acrobat
or Adobe Reader icon displays in the middle of the Safari window. This is caused
by running Safari under Rosetta; Acrobat and Adobe Reader 8 will not show PDF
files in Safari run under Rosetta, whereas Acrobat and Adobe Reader 7 shows PDFs
in Safari only under Rosetta. To work around this, you have to turn off Rosetta
for Safari, or start Acrobat or Acrobat Reader and go to Preferences > Internet
and turn off Display PDF In Browser; PDF files will be viewed in Safari using
the Mac OS X native PDF viewing engine after this.
When you upgrade Adobe Reader or Acrobat from 7 to 8, PDF files no longer
show in other non-Safari browser windows. Instead a large Acrobat or Reader icon
displays in the middle of the browser window. This is because the PDF viewing is
not supported for any WebKit-based applications other than Safari. Work around
this by starting Acrobat or Adobe Reader, and choosing Preferences > Internet
and turning off Display PDF In Browser.
    Self-healing
If the AdobePDFViewer files are deleted, then they will be self-healed after you
start Acrobat again after the files were deleted. You can also fix Safari
manually by choosing Help > Repair Acrobat Installation.

  • How to downgrade from Adobe 1.4 to 1.3.1 on a Mac?

I upgraded to Adobe 1.4 on my Mac, running Tiger.
For various reasons, Adobe 1.4 is broken (see other threads).
How can I downgrade to 1.3.1? I have the DMG, but when I try to downgrade, Adobe Lightroom says "there is nothing to install".
And in the main menus, I do not see an option to uninstall.
I tried to rename the Lightroom.app folder, but no luck.
Can someone from Adobe at least post detailed instructions on how to downgrade, while we wait for the bugs to be fixed??
This is hardly what I expect from a professional-grade product.

    > Be warned that if you "write metadata to file" when dealing with a RAW image you will change the modification date of the original RAW file. Ian has stated that this is a confirmed *bug*.
I can see that for many this is undesirable, and since it's an unintended behavior and a change from all previous versions, labeled a 'bug'.
Since I view editing a RAW file a modification, changing its modified date in the Finder is a plus, not a negative, and in my book, not a bug.
I must be missing something, but what as to this facet? Being on a Mac, and finding this not a problem, is there anything else seriously off with 1.4? (I am aware of the official recommendation, but I plan to stay with 1.4 as I keep in RAW till I am done editing, and then convert to DNG. I just won't convert to DNG with 1.4.)
