Very poor speeds and high error counts?

Hi guys,
I have been reading through some threads on the forum but still cannot find any information regarding my poor connection. My connection runs extremely slow and eventually leads to me being unable to load webpages.
I had a look through my ADSL settings and found some high CRC and HEC events which I presume are not good! I have copied and pasted the results below.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have had no luck after calling the call centres...

Hi, thanks for the speedy reply! The results from above are not whilst connected to a test line
The quiet line test seems fine.
I have just put it into the test socket and the internet does seem much more repsonsive when I go onto websites.
There still seems to be a few errors on the ADSL settings.

    Hi Arsie,
Your IP profile is very low, which is the reason for the slow speeds as Im sure you've guessed.  Have you been restarrting, unplugging or resetting your hub in an effort to get the IP profile to increase?  The IP profile will rise when 3-5 days of a solid connection has been achieved, any disconnections will restart this time scale.
Has your hub been disconnecting at all? And once did it disconnect so low to give you that profile? Unfortunately it takes only 75 minutes for the profile to drop

  • Very poor speed and the poor customer service is w...

Good News - infinity will be connected to my area by the end of next month
Bad News - My connection speed is now .283Mb instead of the 6-7Mb that it has been until a week ago. So I ring bangalore and get fobbed of over and over again. They then offer me a new hub as my N600 "is not compatible" very funny!! Well the hub never arrives.
I phone the cancellation line which agrees to send out another hub as my cancellation fee is nearly £130, so lets see if this one turns up. I've checked the N600 and filter and all is fine. An external line check is clear so it must be at the exchange.
Therefore if you have had to make room at the exchange to connect up the fibre optic tell me and I'll accept it don't just try and fob me off with rubbish..
    Totally **bleep** off

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router , if netgear enter 192.168.0.1 the router status and then show statistic and run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
if your exchnage is being upgraded to fibre that will not affect your adsl connection
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • Intermittent speed issues and high errors after ma...

I had BT broadband installed 3rd August and was only getting 3.5 - 4.5 mbps (stable and consistent) despite having been quoted 6 to 14 mbps when I ordered.
After the standard call center checks BT eventually agreed to send out an engineer (4 days ago) who replaced the master socket with a new style one and the speed reported by my HH3 went from 4.5 to 8.5mbps... all looked good however since then the actual download speed has varied from 1.5 to 8.5 mbps and the error counts seem very high.
Latency has also switched from interleaved to fast and now back to interleave.
Any advice on how to get this stable would be much appreciated - thanks in advance!

  • NB205 - very poor product and service, do not buy Toshiba!! Completely dead in 6 months

I am posting this to warn as many people as possible to avoid buying Toshiba in the future.  Not only was the product faulty, which I can understand sometimes happens w mass production.  But the service was completely unacceptable, which was the deciding factor for me.
    1.  My new Netbook NB-205/BL started intermittently shutting down for no reason (complete black screen, not even to blue screen).  By the time I returned home from my trip it had stopped working altogether.  The power light will come on, and the fan/hard disk will try to spin for a split second and then go silent and stop completely.
    2.  Upon calling tech support who walked me through a bunch of diagnostic attempts (removing and re-inserting battery, etc.), they concluded it was dead and I needed to send it in.
    3.  The only thing I really care about is my data as I had stored a bunch of invaluable photos and downloaded about $200 worth of Amazon MP3s since receiving the Toshiba NB205.
    4.  Tech support assured me they would back up the hard drive for me and ship either a fixed or new computer with all my data still intact.  They asked me to register it w their warranty department and call them back so they could send me a shipping box to send it back in.  I did all that and it's been >3 weeks and no box.
    5.  So today I called Tech Support again and the guy goes "Oh yes, you have shipped your computer in for a hard drive failure?".  At which point I had to explain how A) it's not a hard drive failure B) I haven't shipped anything anywhere because I never got the box I was promised.
    6.  Then I proceed to ask him again if my data would be safe, to which he informs me it's Toshiba policy/practice not to back up data for customers.  I found this to be unacceptable and then I didn't know who to trust so I asked for a supervisor.
    7.  This supervisor wasn't able to help me either as he further informed me that they will not back anything up for me AND that I had to pay for shipping AND pay an authorized Toshiba Repair Center to back my hard drive up.
    8.  I suggested what everyone who I've talked to has said:  Toshiba could send me a new computer since they've diagnosed the old one as being dead.  I could swap out the hard drives, or they could send me one without a hard drive.  And I could send them back the dead NB205.
    9.  NO was the answer.  Toshiba wouldn't do anything for me, because software issues are NOT under warranty.  And backing up my hard drive is considered to be a software issue.  I repeatedly told him that it's their defective hardware that is causing the need for data backup.  But this went ignored and I was told they don't cover anything in this case.
I either had to lose my data or pay probably $100 for a Toshiba dealer to back up my data for me.  Oh yeah, and there isn't one of those within 20 miles of me and I live in Silicon Valley!!  Oh yes, and they want me to pay to ship them the dead computer.
    10.  I finally asked him how he would feel if he was the customer, and if he felt this was any way to treat Toshiba customers.  He replied by saying they have a process, and this is the process!
Well the next time I and any of you are in our "process" of deciding which brand of technology to buy, I'm certainly not going to consider Toshiba anymore.  This is the second chance I'm giving Toshiba after having a very poor laptop AND service experience in 2000.  Well, it took me 9 years to give them another shot, and I'm never going to trust them again.  I told myself "well, it's a high quality Japanese brand, one that commands a premium in price that people are willing to pay so it should be an excellent product.  AND if things do go pooryly, Toshiba will stand behind their name."
I was SO wrong!!!  Let this be a message to all people out there, as I did read these forums before buying my product, but the NB205 was so new it didn't have many posts.
Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me!  I'm done with you Toshiba, it's really too bad that you will not honor your brand with fair treatment of your customers.
    Ming Wu

It isn't that difficult to back up the data from the hard drive.  You can easily do it yourself for about $20.  http://www.datarecoverytutorial.com/recover-data-from-failed-laptop-notebook/
As for Toshiba backing up your data, ALL of the manufacturer's have that same policy.  NONE of them will backup the data for you nor will they guarantee that your system will be returned with the existing data intact.  This is spelled out in the Warranty documents and is fairly common knowledge amongst most computer users.
If the data was that important you should have been backing it up to USB flash drives, a usb external hard drive, or some other backup device on a daily basis just for this very reason.  The fact that you failed to do so doesn't make it Toshiba's problem.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Very variable speeds. High noise. Should I follow ...

On a good day my MaxADSL broadband gives me 6.5Mbps. On a bad day, like to day, it can be closer to 2Mbps. So far, it's never dropped low enough to give me V04 errors on BT Vision. And for working from home it's not a problem as my speeds are always better than theirs as the office is in a very rural location!
However, I do have a lot of noise on the line:

And these figures don't seem to vary when I move my HH2 to the master socket (which is inconveniently located above a doorway!). Although I've only ever had it there for 10 minutes or so - does it need to be there longer to establish the correct noise levels?
I use BBTalk as my primary phone. I received a call today and the quality was very poor.
So my question is should I chase up BT? Do I have a line fault?
Here's the BT Speedtest results. As always the speed they indicate is much higher than that given by ThinkBroadband.com or Speedtest.net:

as you are on adslmax and also have max speed and profile I don't think noise margin is a problem but more like what the call margin in hand which is a good thing.  your download on btspeedtester is 5mb and looks ok especially if run today when net could be busy

    exe #2 : elapsed = 6.34s, query = 24272, current = 151, rows = 25
If I run just the select portion of the statement, using bind values from exe #2, I get small number of gets (< 10), and < 0.1 secs elapsed.
If I make the insert into an empty, non-partitioned table, I get :

This problem is part of testing of a database upgrade and country go-live. On a 10.2.0.3 test system (non-RAC), the same insert/select - using the real WF_Item_Attributes_Value table takes :
call     count       cpu    elapsed       disk      query    current        rows
    Parse        1      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0

total        2      0.00       0.10         10         27        136          25So I'm struggling to understand why the performance on the 10.2.0.4 RAC system is so much worse for this query, and why it's doing so many gets. Suggestions, thoughts, ideas welcomed.
I've verified system level things - CPUs weren't/aren't max'd out, no significant paging/swapping activity, run queue not long. AWR report for the time period shows nothing unusual.

    hi Sven,
    Thanks for your input.
    1) I guess so, but I haven't lifted the lid to delve inside the form as to which one. I don't think it's the cause though, as I got poor performance running the insert statement with my own value (same statement, using my own bind value).
    2) In every execution plan I've seen, checked, re-checked, it uses a range scan on the primary key. It is the most efficient I think, but the source table is small in any case - table 160 blocks, PK index 144 blocks. So I think it's the partitioned destination table that's the problem - but we only see this issue on the 10.2.0.4 pre-production (RAC) system. The 10.2.0.3 (RAC) Production system doesn't have it. This is why it's so puzzling to me - the source table read is fast, and does few gets.
    3) table storage details below - the Item_Types being used were 'OEOH' (fast execution) and 'OEOL' (slow execution). Both hit partition WF_ITEM49, hence I've only expanded the subpartition info for that one (there are over 600 sub-partitions).

I am 100meters from the exchange box, with new wiring to house and throughout. my profile is (see below) tried restarting router disconnecting everything etc but to no avail, is it possible that my profile needs to be reset. Any help would be greatly recieved. My neighbour is getting 78Mb Dl

  • High error counts

Will high retry counts and the inherent dropped packets between two bridged BR1310G radios cause packet errors on their respective ethernet switchports?
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
If  you have retries  and dropped packets between the  Radio link , it would effect the  TCP retransmission , however can you please clarify where you are seeing packet errors  are you seeing or referin to " show interface fa/gi  0/1 etc" on  br1310  bridge.

  • Cannot play Adobe Access Protected Content in Chrome (version 30 and higher); Error 3321/3322?

    Symptom:
An end-user cannot play Adobe Access protected content.  The client application returns a persistent 3321 (Individualization Error) or 3322 (Device Binding Failure) error code.
    Root Cause in Chrome Browser:
Adobe Access DRM must create a unique machine identifier (I.e. "token") to identify the the device.  This token is provided to the Adobe Access license server during a license request to view DRM protected content.  If Chrome Browser disables the ability for Adobe Access DRM to create a unique machine identifier, playback of Protected Content will fail with a 3321 or 3322 error code.  By default, this setting is enabled and available to toggle in Chrome Browser version 30 and higher.  Unchecking this option will prevent Adobe Access DRM from properly functioning. A 3321 or 3322 error that persists after a call to resetDRMVouchers is an indicator that this setting may need to be changed.
    Resolution:
    In your Chrome settings:
    •             Click on "Show advanced settings…"
    •             In the subsequent "Privacy" section, click on "Content settings…"
    •             In the subsequent "Protected Content" section, make sure that the following box is checked "Allow identifiers for protected content (computer restart may be required)".
We are working with Google to allow better detection of this condition, so that the client will return a 3368 (User cancelled or user settings disallow operation) error code when the box is unchecked.

  • Slower 4G Download Speeds and Higher Pings Tonight

Stillwater, OK. Tonight, the DL speeds and ping times are worse than normal. UL speeds are unaffected.
Normal speeds, representative of the last few weeks...
Tonight's speeds (similar results to different test servers in the area)...
Ping times have more than doubled, and the download speed has been cut to ~25% of normal. If I try a test server on the east coast, I get something like the following (bad UL speeds too)...
Scary to think this could be due to the tower becoming overloaded (it is prime time) so early in the 4G game. The only other thing I can think of is that its particularly humid tonight, but why would that affect mainly the DL speed and not the UL speed?

Speeds were still slow this morning, so I power-cycled the modem (and router). Speeds are back to normal, so it seems like I just needed to reboot the gear.

  • High error count, slow or no page loads

My apologies if the formatting of this is rubbish - posting from work and our firewall is blocking some features, so it looks awful here! Hi, I hope someone can help or advise with my ongoing Broadband speed issues. To summarise the story so far: Last week (19 July) I initiated the change from my then provider (Namesco) to BT by giving the MAC code. Changeover day was given as 1 week later, 26 July. 2 days later my BB connection went very slow. Pages would not load or would only load very slowly. Speed tests (when it would load) varied from mostly 200 Kbps to occasionally 1000 kbps. Previously I would have a consistent 2500 to 3000 kbps (we are 3 miles from a country exchange). Ever the optimist I assumed this slow down was related to the switch over and assumed all would be well on changeover day. No such luck. BT service went live on Tuesday 26th, I connected the new Homehub 3, all the new cables and all new filters. BT set up CD established a connection but the speed problems remain. Now pages will not load, IE is just waiting for…, even Google home page just stalls. I have tried Ping-ing various sites and mostly these request time out. Broadband light is on on the homehub and the problem exists for 2 different computers, both on a wired network cable direct to the hub. For the record, I have tried with the router connected to the master socket to eliminate the house wiring and this makes no difference. I have started a dialogue with BT tech support (India), but they want me in front of the computer so that will have to wait until later. They say the line is OK on a line check. Stats from the home hub show last night the following: Line state: connected Connection time: 0 days, 00:06:46 Downstream: 3 Mbps Upstream: 448 Kbps VPI/VCI: 0/38 Type: PPPoA Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A Latency type: Interleaved Noise margin (Down/Up): 2.0 / 23 dB Line attenuation: 46.0 / 25.5 dB Output power 19.0 / 12.3 dBm FEC Events (Down/up): 8011538 / 994 CRC Events: 21079 / 1004 Los of framing (Local/remote): 0 / 0 Loss of signal: 0 / 0 Loss of power: 0 / 0 HEC Events (Down / up): 266231 / 768 Error seconds: 2014 / 1599 The high CRC and error seconds counts don’t seem good and the low noise margin is also worrying. I appreciate this is a new conenction and there will be a training period, but speed is currently non-existent and of course the problem was manifest BEFORE the switch to BT. Thanks in advance for any help, as I am posting from work I may not be able to check back and respond immediately.

Coming back with an update - something of a result actually. BT phoned, as promised bewteen 6 and 8 and admitted there was a fault on our line and they were working on it at the exchange.  Speed is now up to 1094 kbps on the BT line test.  BT say they are continusing to work on it and speed could vary until Monday when they will update me again.
For the record here are the latest router stats, looking better already, particularly the noise margin
    Thanks again for your help

  • Very slow speeds and ridiculous email and bill for...

    Hi
i have several issues. I have been a very satisfied customer for over 15 years until early summer of this year:
    1. My broadband speeds remain painfully slow despite 3 complaints and investigations. In fact my line is still connected to the test line as I was advised to do and I have never had a call back as promised.
    2. I have now received an email message to say I have used 90gb at a cost of £50. This is almost all uploads. i upload nothing and this figure is impossible. Until June my usage was quite small and I came nowhere near my limit on option 2. Nothing has changed with my usage since then. I do not download or stream films and do not upload large quantities. I probably would stream films, but the slow speed does not allow it.
    3. I spent over an hour on the phone trying to sort this out today, but was not helped by a succession of people who barely understood the situation and had even less understanding of customer service. I have now emailed, but have had a message saying it might be 72 hours before a reply.
Any advice would be really helpful as I am at my wits end
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Ok....since the original post the problem has continued. I have spent literally hours on the phone to people who say all the same things and never come up with a solution.
The test results are below. I do not experience speeds as reported. And if I use another tester it correctly comes out as about 1 4 - 1.9. or even lower. The upload usage is still showing as high....but it is just not possible. I have now reset the hub wireless key, but I have not shared this with anyone in range. Apple TV is now disconnected after it was going to take 20 hours to download a film!
I am at my wits end with this and really do not want the hassle of changing provider but even after 20 years BT broadband I am so very close to that.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Julie

  • Very slow speed and frequent disconnection

I have been using BT broadband since 6/09/13 and my speed has been below par so far. I have only received 3mbit/s or less when my line is capable of 8mbit/s. Along with this, I disconnect frequently for seemingly no reason. When I contacted bt support, they assured me that the disconnections was the exchange testing out my connection during the 10 day training period, but even after that the issues persist.
From checking the homehub's event log, I found that this message was being given when the connection dropped: "20:55:08, 20 Sep.(404656.240000) PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]"
Does anybody know what this means?

I've been connected to the test socket for a couple of weeks, and I've found that it makes no difference.
I've noticed the downstream noise margin has been very high: "DSL noise margin: 5.90 dB upstream, 17.40 dB downstream". I think this is what BT has set for my line, from my previous ISPs I had a 6db noise margin and my line was fine.

  • Poor speeds and such

Hello, very recently (with in the past two days) I have been experiencing some bad latency, or I assume it is what every one is talking about. I have a new Westell router that verizon gave us when we upgraded to high speed pritty recently.  I ran a tracert verizon.com and got the following

I am a novince at best when it comes to this stuff learning as i go but from what i understand this issues ping # 2 is with the router in my immediate area. I noticed it happening over the weekend and before that things were normal. It wasn't till tonight that getting into an online match  on x-box live for Call of Duty became impossible and my internet was running slower than normal. I decided to look into it and I hope you can help me out. I know we have some unusually high winds tonight but I doubt that has anything to do with it. I will continue running tracert and keep you up dated. If it continues i will contact verizon by phone if neccessary.  Thanks.

ok an update from this morning and some aditional info from my router....
the tracert to verizon.com is the same type of speeds as posted above. when i get back to work i will post more about my router spec but i got work now.
