Very Urgent - DELIMITEDDATA question for MS Excel reports

Hi,
I have several queries, formula , place holder, summary columns in my data model view. Is there any way I can control the order in which they appear on the delimiteddata file. A lot of the reports I have a pretty complex with summaries at multiple hierarchical levels. The users are adamant that they want these reports for MS Excel. Is there anything I can do to control the order and placement of the data in my data model view ?
I am using Oracle Reports 6i (6.0.8.22.0) or patch 13, I believe.

The DELIMITEDDATA desformat is a primarily data-driven format, and thus allows only limited control over the layout of the data in the output.
Another option you can try is to generate to Excel directly using web reporting and Excel templates in Reports 9i, as explained in the 'Output to Excel with Oracle9i Reports' on OTN at http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/demonstrations/index.html. Using this technique, you can use the Reports JSP tags and HTML to customize your report's Excel output.

  • Best Practice for creating Excel report from SSIS.

    I have a requirement to create an Excel report on a daily basis which pulls data from SQL. I have attempted to resolve this by creating a stored procedure to save the results in SQL, a template in Excel to hold the graphs & pivot tables and an SSIS package
    to copy the data to the template.
    Problem 1: When the data turns up in Excel it is saved as text rather than numbers.
    Problem 2: When the data turns up in Excel it appends the data rather than overwriting it.
    I resolved problem 1 by having another sheet which converts the text to numbers (=int(sheet1!A1))
    I resolved problem 2 by adding some VB script to my SSIS package which clears the existing cells before copying the data
    The job runs fine, however when I schedule the job to run overnight it complains "System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID". A little googling tells me that running the client side commands in
    my vb script (workSheet1.Range("A2:F9999").Clear(), workBook.Save(), workBook.Close() etc) from a server side task is bad practice.
    So, I am left wondering how people usually get around this problem; copy a SQL table into an existing Excel file and overwrite the data, without having the numbers turn up as text. My requirements are that the report must display pivot charts with selectable
    options and be automatically updated overnight.

    I think that the best practice in case like this is to Link an excel file to a view or directly to a table. So you don't have to struggle with changing template, with overnight packages, etc. If the data are too much complex and the desiderate too excessive
    then I tend to create a Cube and that's it...dashboard, graph and everyone is happy. In your case if the request is not too much try to don't use SSIS but directly build a view and point directly on SQL.
    SSIS is really strong for the ETL, to run some stored procedure too heavy, to use a cut time scheduled, etcetera , etcetera, etcetera...I love it. But sometimes we need to find the easier solutions...

         yes. Transactional cubes are meant for only BPS.

       Yes. multiproviders can be used both in basic planning area as well as multi planning area.

       these are not recommended. But, create exit & FOX functions to meet your requirements.
    5.when exit variables are used?
       If variable1 needs to be derived from variable2. (in which, end user fills only variable2).

    We generally categorise the reports in a matrix structure based on the following criteria -
    1. Usage of the report, eg. monthly, weekly and so on
    2. Data to be processed per usage, eg. no of records
    3. Criticality of the report, eg, must have, useful, important, nice to have and so on
    4. Intended users of the report, eg, management, top management, support satff and so on
    Based on the matrix and the estimated effort required for each report, we make a decision of which reports to be created and the ranking of the reports, that is, which reports to be created on an urgent basis and which ones can be taken up later.
    Also, the same matrix can be used for determining the authorizations for the reports.

          Exist a way to create or use a format to print an output of an ABAP report that adjust to the screen? I have a Abap report that in the output have some subtrees for the information displayed.... but if the user expand a lot the subtrees when he or she print the document they see the leters and numbers very small or whitout some columms.... How can I create a format to fix this or what is the way ?

    In my project iam using crystsal report for eclipse to generate reports.
    Iam using a .jsp page to call my report.(which i got it from the examples of CRE).
    The name of my jsp page is poi.jsp
    The name of my Crystal report is CrystalReport2.rpt
    My problem is this....
    when i run the report first time i can see my poi.jsp page and user can submit
    the parameter and based on the users parameter the report is generated..(ITs working absoultely fine)
    but when the user runs the report again, its not showing the parameter page (i.e user cannot see poi.jsp)
    rather its showing the old generated report.
    When i tried using session.invalidate and session.removeAttribute it was showing me the poi.jsp page
    but the problem is when the user clicks on the print icon or any icon on the report its just
    showing the poi.jsp page...
    When the user closes the report or when the clicks on the button to generate the report it should
    show the parameter page (poi.jsp).how can i solve this problem???

    As far as parameter refresh is concerned add in your code
    viewer.setHasRefreshButton(true)
    refresh button is appeared on crystal report toolbar and you can use this button instead of explorer refrsh button and every time you can add new parameters values.
    Also, if you want to update reportsource in session object. means if user wants to view more than one different reports and want to invalidate reportsource form session.
    add in jsp.

  • Expression Question for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2

    I am trying to form an expression that will give me the est. hours for a specific project type.  Project Type is a field in the data set as well as est.hrs.  There are no calculations needed.  The hours is listed under the field name"Est.Hours".
     So I've been trying to us an IIF expression.  IIF(Fields!ProjectType.Value=Landscaping, "", Fields!Est.Hours.Value).  It is not working.  It renders "0" and it should render "10".  What am I doing wrong?

    Per my understanding that you want to use the expression to display the Est.Hours for the ProjectType which value are not  "Landscaping" and if the value is "Landscaping" it will display null value, right?
    I have tested on my SSRS 2008 R2 environment and find the issue can be caused by the expression you are using, I would like to confirm with you if the expression "IIF(Fields!ProjectType.Value=Landscaping, "", Fields!Est.Hours.Value)"
    is what you are currently using.
    As Patrick Hurst mentioned that we need do modify the wrap Landscaping in double quotes: "Landscaping" and also the fields name "Est.Hours" also can cause the problem, please try to remove the ".", rename the
    field like"EstHours", So finally the expression is as below:
    =IIF(Fields!ProjectType.Value="Landscaping", "", Fields!EstHours.Value)

    Thanks for your reply Sripathy. I found out that we can actually eliminate the columns or any data model elements by simply doing the following:
    Go to Property Pallete for the elment,
    Under the xml settings use XML Tag (for changing names) and Exclude from XML output (Yes - to exclude on the delimiteddata output).
    This works for the XML o/p as well as the delimiteddata o/p.

    I am currently on BI 7.0 release
    I have a cube A that activated in Development. I transported cube A to Staging get the following error

    and the cube couldn't activate in staging.
    I re-transport this cube A a few times with difference option of grouping and still no luck.
    in Development, i copied cube A to cube Aa, then transport new cube Aa to staging, then everything went ok. the new cube Aa is activated in staging area.
    I couldn't use the new name Aa since all the queries using the A name.
    Is there any possible solution that could help?

    The extraction from a text DataSource no longer returns data, and the extractor checker does not display any data either. However, there are valid texts in the master data table in the source system.
    Other terms
    OLTP, extractor, data extraction, DataSource, Service API, SAPI
    Reason and Prerequisites
    This problem is caused by a program error that only affects certain text DataSources. More specifically, it affects DataSources that still have a reference to an info object due to the upward compatibility to BW 1.2. The DataSources concerned can be identified technically by the fact that in the ROOSOURCE table, the column TYPE = 'TEXT' and the BASOSOURCE column is not initial.
    Solution
    You need Service API 7.00 Support Package 06 to correct the problem in the affected source system. The attached composite SAP note provides information about which software components contain Service API 7.0, and gives the names of the corresponding Support Packages of these components.
    Alternatively, you can also implement the attached advance correction. However, the advance correction is a correction to a template that is used as a template for generating the extraction program. Therefore, also refer to Note 170595 when you are implementing the advance correction.
    In the BW system, you only need to implement the correction if the BW system is affected in its role as source system for itself (Myself connection) or for a further BW system.
    Note: Service API is an internal component. It is not delivered separately but as part of other software components:  PI, CRM, PI_BASIS and others. A composite SAP note is therefore created for each SAPI correction note, and this describes which Support Packages of the software components mentioned above contain the SAPI correction. The composite note is only released on the release date of the corresponding SAPI Support Packages. Various SAPI versions are delivered for Basis Releases 3.1I, 4.0B, 4.6D 6.20 and 6.40. The version for 4.0B is also valid for R/3 Releases 4.6B and 4.6C.

    I always create a playlist in iTunes when I'm making an iPhoto slide show. You can select the playlist to play. I generally try to figure out how long I really want the slide show to last, and then make the playlist in iTunes. You haven't told us which version of iPhoto you're using, but the more recent versions have an option to time the slideshow to the length of the music rather than playing the music over again. Exactly which versions of iTunes and iPhoto do you have?
