Video as intro

I Would like to create a folio page where a video plays at page load witout any controllers. when the video is done it should act as a normal page.
At the media tab, i checked the play on page load and did set the controller to None, the Poster is an image from file, still it doesnt work the way i want it to, any help?

You could try this:

  • Adding intro/outro to Flash video

    Hi there,
    Sorry for cross-posting, but I posted this to the plain Flash
    forum a
    few weeks ago and got no response. I'm wondering if this is a
    better
    venue for it, so I'll try again:
    We have created a series of short video product reviews that
    are all
    being loaded dynamically into a common SWF container
    something like this:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    // <![CDATA[
    var so = new
    SWFObject("/swf/movie.swf?video=http://images.ourserver.com/product_reviews/SS13.flv",
    "myMovie", "320", "277", "8", "#FFFFFF");
    so.addParam("base", "/swf/");
    so.write("noFlash");
    // ]]>
    </script>
    We want to add a simple common intro and outro (logo fading
    to video for
    intro and logo fading back in for outro). Is there a cool and
    clean way
    to do this as part of the Flash movie rather than having to
    insert it
    into each QT movie beforehand?
    The biggest problem seems to be determining when to begin the
    outro
    since all the videos are slightly different durations. Is
    there some way
    to use script to determine when each video is ending and
    trigger the
    closing animation?
    Thanks for any help with this,
    Don Hinshaw

    open the xml file and look at it.  it should be obvious how it corresponds with the video.
    then read the flash help files about working with cue points.  read the section(s) that relate to your actionscript version and which class (netstream, flvplayback component) you're using to play your flv.

  • Anybody has been able to add a video to iBooks Author?

    I followed the export instructions in the help but I always get the same error message: The media file “Untitled2.m4v” wasn’t added. The file is an unsupported format. My video is in 1280x720 resolution. This is what I did to export my video:
    Convert a video file
    Open the file in QuickTime 10.1 or later.
    Choose File > Export.
    Do one of the following:
    To create up to a 420p movie: Select “iPod touch & iPhone 3GS.”
    To create up to a 720p movie: Select “iPad, iPhone 4 & Apple TV.”
    The numbers refer to the number of vertical lines. For the best quality, select the 720p (iPad) option. If you’re concerned about file size or want better performance, use 420p (iPod touch).
    Click Export.
    Add the exported file to the Media (or HTML) widget.
    No luck...

    hi Robert,
    I'm able to do this in any plae within book (video in intro media or within video widget) - though I'm using 420p m4v vidoe content (generated with QT Player X as in help file).
    Have you tried 420p movie size?
    regards,
    Peter

  • Video in the Timeline

    Anyone know if there is way to get avideo to strech out acros the timeline (the way audio does), so that I can add animation effects to my video presentation?  And if not, what can you recommend that does do that?

    You should be able to import a video directly intro the timeline.  Try following thru:  File -> Import -> Import Video...(choose file) ...-> Embed video in swf and play in timeline

  • Debra's Intro

    If Floyd found this embarrassing then guess how I as a Brit feels! Especially as 2 out of the 3 already know me!
    I have worked in IT for too long, originally as a programmer (which in itself dates me, they are now developers). My latest employer Fujitsu took me on when they had a campaign looking for 'Rusty Mums' during a skills shortage. At that time my biggest passion in life, my daughter Brooke was only 6 months Old, during Open World she will be 20!
    I am a Principal Consultant in our Oracle Practice and lead the BI & Strategy capability, and have worked with Oracle EBS since 9.4.1, not only is Fujitsu a CAP Partner but we eat our own dog food and have Siebel, EBS and Hyperion plus lots of that lovely Oracle technology I know nothing about!
    I am an Applications OCP and Oracle Master (IT Professional) and obviously an Oracle ACE Director. I have even had the ACE program registered as a [lovemark!|http://debrasoracle.blogspot.com/2008/08/recognition.html] !
    I am deputy chair (VP) of UKOUG The Best User Group in the World, and also run the Product Development Committee of which I am very proud at both the EMEA and International Usersgroups Communities.
    UKOUG has its own staff we do not use a management company so being a director is in itself a skill and in pursuit of good governance i also studied for and achieved Chartered Director Status with the IOD.
    Like Floyd I speak at many Oracle events and the main topic is Fusion Applications and Strategy, ocaisionally talking about the day job and BI. Personal life has not been the best in the last 18 months but what got me through it? My friends on the circuit and their Hugs (thanks Floyd).

    If you'd prefer the Leopard intro movie files as they exist on your HDD, rather than a YouTube video (.flv), copy the following text (don't include the space at the end!):
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Setup Assistant.app/Contents/Resources/TransitionSection.bundle/Contents/Resources/
    ...then select Finder > Go menu > Go to Folder box, and paste. In the folder that opens you'll find intro.mov, which is the video, and intro-sound.mp3, which is the audio. The audio is separate from the movie because it's longer (55 seconds vs. 34 seconds). You can recombine them in iMovie, if you're so inclined.

  • Elke's Intro

    I am quite honored to share in the ranks of such intelligent Oracle Applications Technologists. And, I like, Debra and Floyd before me find this intro a bit embarrassing. So, anyway, here’s the part about me…..
    I have worked with Oracle Technology since I started my IT career in 1993 after graduating from the University of Oklahoma (Go Sooners :-). My first job was as an Oracle Database Administrator/UNIX System Administrator and it has been a great career fit for me. In 1999, I moved to Louisville, KY and started work for Humana (Health Ins Provider), which was when my Oracle Applications career began. In 2004, my knowledge sharing and networking began with the OAUG Connection Point conference in Orlando – since then, I have started a Special Interest Group (Oracle EBIZ Applications Technology SIG). I n addition to the SIG sessions at conferences, I also present (primarily advanced Oracle EBS Infrastructure and HA infrastructure) and am fortunate enough to be asked to participate in panels (Linux Migraiton, Women in Technology, and Cloning). In 2006, I co-authored a book titled Oracle Applications DBA Field Guide (Apress). When I’m not having fun with you at conferences, I’m managing a staff of 8 DBAs for Humana supporting their Oracle Applications environment.
    I enjoy teaching others and sharing knowledge about Oracle Applications and Technology. I look forward to interacting more with this group of great, talented people in the future.
    Best Regards,
    Elke

  • Proper method for interactive video

    Hi.  It's been a while since I've used Flash/Actionscript, and I've been having trouble figuring out the proper way to do this.  I'm hoping someone here can outline the proper methods.
    Basically, I'm creating a Flash project where it will play a video, then at a certain point, stop and display some buttons, and then go to the appropriate video based on what button was pressed.  Sort of a choose your own adventure type of thing.
    Without knowing the current/ideal way of doing it, how I tried it was by having the first video (embedded into the project) on one layer, and at the end of that video, I have a stop()  on another (script) layer (on the last frame of the video in the timeline), and I had the buttons (which appear on top of the video) on another layer at that same frame.  So, in theory, it plays the video, hits the last frame, stops the timeline, and waits for one of the buttons to be clicked.  Each button triggers and gotoAndPlay(), which takes the timeline to one of the other two videos that are located one after the other, after the first video, on the same (video) layer.
    Problem is, I have a bit of a catch-22...  I was aware that there would be sync issues between the video and it's audio (addressed by doing the audio as Sync or something in the audio properties)... however, I was suprised to see that the video does not maintain sync with the other layers (script).   So, what happens is that it plays the video, but SEEMS to play it faster than the script layer, so it reaches the end of the video before reaching the (identical frame) location of the actionscript.  As a result, the video loops, and the stop() is hit sometime during the start of the second playing of the video.  The buttons act similar, appearing sometime AFTER the point in the video where they should.
    I had embedded the video with the assumption that this would give me hard sync between it and the timeline, since it's physically there in the timeline, and you can see the frame at which it ends... and I thought then putting a stop() on that frame (but on a different layer), would guarantee that the stop code gets hit at the same time the end of the video was.
    I've tried a number of things, like putting the actionscript code on the frame after the video on the same layer, figuring a single layer can't go out of sync with itself... but that didn't work either.
    Looking into it, I saw that one option was to not embed the video, but to have it reference an external file (which, supposedly, would result in no sync issues).  But, in doing that, I'm not aware of how the rest of the timeline would know when the video has reached certain spots of the video.
    I'm sure the proper method is entirely different from what I'm doing, but I'm not familiar with other methods.  I'm hoping someone can outline the proper procedures (in as much detail as possible, since I probably won't know about much of what you are explaining).
    Keep in mind, again that this is basically what I want to do:
    -Play video 1
    -Stop timeline, display buttons, wait for response
    -Based on which button is pressed, jump in the timeline to video 2 or 3 (...I'm assuming all the vids will be on one layer, one after the other, with a label at the start of each one)
    Hope you can help.  Thanks.

    Hi, kglad.  Conceptually, I understand, but I'm totally new to most of these things.  I've worked with actionscript and flash in general, but am still very green when it comes to things like event listeners and some of the more technical coding.
    I've been frustrated with the tutorial vids I've been finding, as they are often very generic (...5 minutes of video, only to show you how to load the component onto the stage, then point to a video).  But, I did finally find one that seemed to address more detail.  It's the ActionScript 3 Video Basics tutorial on gotoandlearn.com.  All very techy code, which goes right over my head, but at least it's seemingly usable and relevant.  I just don't like using coding/methods I don't fully understand, as then you are helpless if something goes wrong.
    In answer to your question, what I'm after (in more detail) is this:
    -A video plays (Intro video)
    -After that video, a looping video plays, with buttons (Scene selection thumbnails) on top of it (Selection menu with looping background)
    -Clicking on one of the scene thumbnails then goes to the scene player section
    -Scene plays, and when it reaches the end of the clip, two buttons appear, and it waits (parked on last frame of the video via a stop() command)
    -Pressing button A jumps the timeline ahead 2 frames to the A video (which is located right after the initial scene video, right after the stop()), and that video plays, and stops at the end (via another stop() command.
    -Pressing button B jumps the timeline ahead many frames (past that second A video, over to the B video, which is the third clip on the video timeline, consisting of the initial scene, the A clip, and now the B clip), plays that and stops.
    Now, I am 90% sure that the way I am currently doing this is inefficient, obsolete, and to anyone half-decent at Flash authoring, completely wrong... but it's the only way I currently know.
    I've done the above like this:
    Timeline has the first (Intro) video embedded, then the second (Scene Selection loop), with a label ('Loop') at the first frame, and a gotoAndPlay('Loop') on the last, with the graphics and code for the scene selection thumbnail buttons occupying the duration/span of that loop clip, on a different layer.
    I have a MovieScreen movieclip, which has a series of one frame movieclips within it.  Each of those movieclips is the full video of a scene.  Think of the MovieScreen mc as a sort of Jukebox, containing a series of 1 frame 'records' (those being a movieclip that contains the video of each scene).  Pressing one of the thumbnail Scene buttons in the Scene Selection simply moves the MovieScreen movieclip timeline to the appropriate 'record' (frame containing the appropriate movieclip that contains the scene you selected), and jumps the main timeline (via a gotoAndPlay()) out of that Scene Selection loop, to the next frame after it, which is a 'Selection made' clip (an exit animation), which plays, and then parks on the 'Play Scene' section.
    The Play Scene frame of the main timeline simplly contains the Moviescreen movieclip, which (at this point) has had its own timeline jumped to the appropriate 'record' (movieclip within it), and that movieclip plays.  This is my (probably laughably incorrect, yet functioning) method to have a global 'movie player' frame in the main timeline, but have it able to play any of the available videos, rather than having a moviescreen for each scene.
    Certainly, I'd assume there is a far better way to do this, most likely with pure actionscript, where the scenes are called up, and things are dynamically generated... but, again, I don't know how to do that sort of thing.
    My first attempt had me embedding the videos directly into the timeline, which had the benefit of having the clip literally there on the timelines, taking up the literal amount of frames, and being visible during the timeline editing.  Problem is, it wouldn't play in sync with the rest of the layers (which was a real surprise, as I assumed that the whole point of embedding it would be to lock it to the timeline).  So, my codes/graphics that were placed on other frames at the end of the video clip's timeline layer didn't trigger in sync with the end of the clip (...which still puzzles me).
    My second attempt had the videos being called on as external clips, but that also had its share of problems, plus without the clips physically on the timeline, I had no way to know when the clip ended (...assuming I was to have the actionscript/graphics on a particular frame in the timeline... which I suspect now is wrong thinking).
    My third attempt used the FLV component.  First of all, the videos where about half the size that they should have been, plus where positioned half off the screen.  Today, I managed to figure out how to remedy that, so that works.  However, I soon realized that when placed on the stage, the resulting element on the timeline was an infinite duration, and not representitive of the duration of the clip, like an embedded vid would be... So, again, I had the problem of how to know when the clip ended, and where to place the script/graphics in the timeline.
    Researching a bit more today, I see that you can read metadata from a clip, which may be relevant to triggering a stop() or a loop back or a gotoAndPlay()...although I'm not entirely sure how it would all work.  I couldn't see an obvious way to loop a clip (from the FLV Playback properties).  So, even though I suspect this is the proper way to be doing this, I'm completely lost on how to utilize it.
    As well, I've been reading that the current version of the FLV Playback component has an issue with seamless looping... in that it supposedly can't.  So, that's yet another problem.
    Sorry for the novel, but I wanted to give everyone the full info on what I'm doing and what troubles I'm facing here.  Sorry too for being green on this.  I'd be happy to watch/read some tutorials on this, but really haven't found anything that either addresses things more than just 'load it onto the stage and select the video location', or ones that are the opposite end of the spectrum, and are way over my head.

  • IDVD - subtitle intros

    Is it possible to have a 20-sec video clip intro for a subtitle? The subtitle consists of a jpeg picture with audio background
    I have been unable to add anything - video or audio clip - to the designated area when constructing the subtitle contents

    Do you want this 20 sec. video clip to play before the ????  What do you have in the iDVD project?  A slideshow of stills created in iDVD or a movie/video file?
    If it's the slideshow of stills you can add a video clip at the beginning of the slideshow.  iDVD 7 not allows video clips to be added to slideshows:
    If you want the video clip to play immediately when you put the disk in a DVD player and then fall out to your menu just add it as movie to the menu and then, in the Map mode, drag that clip into the Auto Play bin.
    The clip will play and then fade into the main menu.
    If those are not what you're trying to do describe in detail exactly what it is.

  • Play video followed by gfx

    I am trying to embed both video and graphics into Flash. I
    would like to play the FLV file, immediately followed by the
    graphics and also do the reverse...display the graphics and
    immediately follow with the FLV file. Can anyone offer assistance?

    One quick note - they don't recommend embedding the video
    into flash unless it's very brief (less than 30 seconds), and even
    then can cause playback problems... better to link externally as a
    progressive download or host from a flash streaming server if
    possible...
    That said, there are several possible solutions - in varying
    complexity. For the easiest method, creating different scenes would
    help make the process more modular - one that plays the video, and
    the second that loads the graphics into the scene.
    For the scenario which loads the graphics first, then the
    video second:
    Simply create your graphics animation along the timeline in
    scene1 - (without any stop action scripts), and once the scene is
    complete it will automatically flow to the next scene on .swf
    playback (which would have the video.) Make sure you copy the last
    keyframes from scene1 and past them into the first frame of scene2
    so all of the parts you want visible are still there when the movie
    plays.
    For the reverse (where the video plays first, then the
    graphics load) there are another couple of options - again. Place
    the video in scene1. If you know the length of your video (in
    keyframes), simply extending the video keyframe out to that number
    on the timeline - it will play the video to completion, and once
    the timeline runs out will automatically flow to scene2 (with the
    graphics animation.)
    As an alternative (if you don't know the length of the
    movie), you would need to place the video so it encompasses two
    keyframes. Then you would need a script that checked to see if the
    video is complete on the first frame, if so continue to scene2. The
    second keyframe would have an action that looped you back to frame
    1 to re-check the movie has played through yet (which will continue
    the loop until the video plays to completion, then proceed to scene
    2). Unfortunately, I would have to do some digging to see what the
    action scripts are to create this - as it's been a while, and
    admittedly I'm a mediocre programmer at best...
    Hope this helps - there are tons of better ways from a
    programming standpoint to make it work - most are over my head for
    the most efficient methods, but hopefully this gets the ball
    rolling for you...
    One other thought - not that I am an advocate for any company
    out there - but there are tons that sell flash templates for an
    incredibly low price (generally under $100) that are amazingly
    good. It may seem pricey - but if you consider what a days work is
    worth for you (or more) to try to get a site put together - and
    functioning correctly - it's very well spent. Many offer dynamic
    video/flash intro movies that flow into the graphic interface (much
    like you are trying to do). The advantage is that even if you don't
    like the interface design, you could still purchase and modify it
    to your needs, or simply lift the action scripts from it and use
    the functionality for your design (the purchase includes the
    original .FLA file). Below is one example I've found, and the
    navigation at the top of the page will lead you to hundreds of
    others within the same site - so there are many to choose from:
    http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-intro/10805.html
    As I mentioned, there are tons of other sites as well the
    offer similar templates - I'm not advocating this one per-se...
    Cheers,
    Jesse

  • "Quickie" DVD Help

    I just started using Final Cut Studio for filmmaking, used to use Premiere etc. Now, I just finished rendering out a video track and a dolby surround track adding up to about 1.4 gigs and I am using standard 4 and half gig or so disks. I have not had time to learn DVD Studio Pro so I am using a template for a last minute kind of thing. I need someone to run me through:
    I need to do 2 things:
    -Setting a button to video to be synced with the seperate audio track as well (m2v from compressor). It would also be nice to know how to set preset transitions between videos.
    -Intro video that plays when you pop the disk in.
    That's it. I'm doing this iDVD style because of the time restraint. Answer here or contact me on AIM at ' CPOStudios ' .

    Have a look at First Play - a "Bare Bones" DVD by Jeff Warmouth

  • CS5: Manual layer break dialog does not appear

    Hi
    If I would like to create a dual layer disc, the following message appears: "the disc requires a layer break" in CS5.
    I set the layer break from "automatical" to "manual" and tried again but the message appears again and no dialog will be opened as Adobe stated in their help: "Manual: Opens the Set Layer Transition dialog box...".
    I read a lot of people having problems with layer breaks in Encore but it seemed that nobody has solution.
    Why does the layer transition dialog not pop up? Does anybody has the same problems with dialog not showing up?
    My setup:
    - Movie ProRes 442 HQ, 112min, 20 chapters (no error on transcoding)
    - Main menu with "play" and "scene" button, animated video as intro (ProRes 442HQ)
    - 2 scene menues with 10 video buttons each
    - there is no error on project checking
    - DVD+R DL, no problmes so far to write dual layer dvd's
    - 8.14GB will be used on disc
    Thans for any help, I am really frustrated.
    Cheers,
    gorbi

    I think I found a “cheat” solution.  I figured out I needed to force the auto break (only option available in CS6 on a Mac), was to push the auto break down to some other place in the movie.  I created 5 minutes of dummy black video, compressed it to the same specs as other videos, added that to the beginning of the offending timeline, cut it to 1 minute, created a second chapter marker right at the heads of the movie, linked the menu button to that chapter marker, and voila!, where ever Encore put the autobreak now doesn’t affect the movie play. It starts up right after the menu button is selected, just as it should.  For anyone else having this problem, try this solution... seems to work well.  I think that’s a good “thinking  outside the box” solution.

  • After effects cs4 render error/problem

    I started rendering my video.After 1:30 minutes after i started rendering, the video changed intro something looking like a TV without signal, and stayed like that till the end of the video.Something like in this photo

    I don't think you understood me. When you get the color bars there is missing footage in your comp. Try scrubbing through your timeline to the place where the color bars appear in your render. You should see the same thing in the comp window. Find the layer that is giving you the color bar image, right click and select find in Project, then right click the footage and use the replace footage option to find the footage.
    If that does not fix your problem please give us a screenshot with the CTI at the point in your render where the color bars appear and reveal all properties of the problematic layer.
    I just looked up the codec you are using. It's a highly compressed 3rd party codec and that alone could be causing your problem. There are lots of users of that codec that have problems. If you do not have missing footage in your project then Transcode the original screen capture footage to a suitable production quality codec and replace the footage in your AE project with a standard digital intermediate codec. Jpeg compressed Quicktime is probably one of the most versatile and dependable DI codec.

  • Welcome vid?

    Hi all;
    Just began using my new MBP (upgrade from elderly TiBook; totally wonderful) and have a profoundly non-essential question. The first few times I started up the new Book it offered me the standard "welcome to your new Mac" video tour thing. I was too busy at that time getting up and running and back to work to actually watch it; but now I would like to take a look at it. Also, I have a friend who's considering switching from a PC to a Mac, and she wanted to see it as well. However, it no longer auto-starts anymore when I start up, and I have no idea where it is/how to access it. Gone forever?
    tia -

    System/Library/CoreServices/SetupAssistant.app(control click and click "show package contents")/Contents/Resources/TransitionSection.bundle (show package contents again)/Contents/Resources.
    In there you'll find the video file, "intro.mov" and audio, "intro-sound.mp3". They are sepetate and you would need to mix them.

  • Captivate 7.0 update External JS

    Ok, know I´m piss, I just finished tweo weeks ago a custom JS with 2.000 lines of code in jquery.
    This script hide the toc, load some animations using tweenmax, load videos for intro and end of slides, among a whole bunch of other things...
    Just run the update to CaPtivate 7.0 and nothing works, first, it dont recognizes the jquery on "call javascript" on the first slide and if still, I call the JS thru the modified index.html, still dont recognize the system variables.
    CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT´S GOING ON????
    I have lost all my work? For know I´m getting back to 7.0 insight from adobe, but I can´t have the answer that my only option is to syick with the this version, the company just bought the software, and know we was going to install on every other machine od the dept, I need realy some attention.
    Thank you.

    In my test jQuery is being called to load in the index page using an array of scripts and appends them to the head section:
    var lJSFiles = [  'assets/js/jquery-1.6.1.min.js','assets/js/CPM.js','assets/playbar/playbarScript.js' ];
          cpXHRJSLoader.js(lJSFiles,function()
           //console.log("js loaded");
           lJSLoaded = true;
           constructDIVs();
         document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(script);
        },1);
    Custom js files are loaded directly into the head and are executed first, so if you have any functions in your custom js that are using jQuery as soon as the file is loaded they won't work since the jQuery file is not in the document yet. You would need to change the way your custom js is loaded by using the window or document.ready events.
