Video conversion problem: no sound

Hi,
when I convert a video for iPhone / iPod touch, there is no sound in the end. Same with iTunes.
What - except re-install both, which I have done already - can I do?
Thanks a lot
Peter

QuickTime, and any app that uses it, can't extract audio from muxed file formats (MPEG 1 and 2 and Flash).
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert your MPEG-1 file.

My husband cannot display any video on his ZEN Vision M 30 GB. Any video converted comes over with ONLY audio, black screen (? no video display )This happened with the original firmware and software. I updated firmware and did all available software updates; no change. I had a previous ZEN Vision M 30GB, which did not have any problem with video conversion and display. Are there any known problems with specific Media Player versions, or QuickTime ?which may be a potential cause of this problem?( I have heard that this product works best with Media Player 9. )Anyone had similar problems, or have any ideas? Thanks,Ravenquille

Problem apparently solved: Last night, I downloaded and installed the free program, SUPER. My husband has not had a problem so far; been working beautifully! Ravenquille

  • N95 video conversion problem

I use the registered software of "ImTOO MPEG Encoder 3" to convert videos shot with my N95 to "MPG-1" or "MPG-2" format in order to play it on any VCD/DVD player. There is not much problem with smaller videos, I mean of 1-2 minutes of length. But with larger video files, i.e., more than 150MB, the video is converted without sound. When I play such video on VCD/DVD player, the whole video is played without sound, and at the end the last frame of the video is freezed, and the sound of whole video starts.
With smaller video, the sound is not Lip-Synched either.
Can anybody tell me any reliable software to successfully convert MP4 videos to MPG format.
    Thanks

    Hi !
I use the same software but no problems to convert small or large mp4 to avi, wmv..ecc...

  • [solved] Video conversion problem: Mencoder on Arch versus Windows XP

I have a cheap portable video player which (according to a supplied Windows software configuration file) requires any video to be converted (say from a YouTube .flv) using a command line like:
    mencoder myfile.flv -ofps 15 -vf-add scale=160:128 -vf-add expand=160:128:-1:-1:1 -srate 44100 -ovc xvid -stereo 0 -xvidencopts bitrate=300:max_bframes=0:quant_type=h263:me_quality=0 -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=128 -o myfile.avi
If I do the conversion on Linux - my fully-upgraded Arch - the resulting .avi file has the audio and video out of sync when played with Mplayer (on Linux and Windows), and no audio at all when played with Vlc (on Linux and Windows). But if I do (supposedly) exactly the same conversion using Mencoder on Windows, the resulting .avi file plays perfectly on everything on both Linux and Windows (and also the portable video player).
Here's the version information for the Mencoders being used:
    Windows: MEncoder Sherpya-MinGW-20060312-4.1.0 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team
    Arch: MEncoder SVN-r32492-4.5.1 (C) 2000-2010 MPlayer Team
I'd be grateful for any ideas as to how to make my Mencoder conversion work as well on Linux as it does on Windows XP! (Or is there something wrong with the way I'm playing the file with Mplayer and Vlc on Arch?!)

Aha! I think I've cracked it, but using ffmpeg instead, with options prompted by this blog post:
    ffmpeg -i infile.flv -r 15 -vcodec mpeg4 -vtag XVID -s 160x128 -aspect 4:3 -qmin 3 -qmax 5 -ar 44100 -ab 128k -ac 2 -acodec mp2 -g 1 outfile.avi
This seems to work everywhere, and the writer specially notes that:
The most important option is the -g 1 to force every frame to be a keyframe
which may well be where my conversions were going wrong. So I'll mark this as 'solved' even though mencoder is still a mystery, but I have learned to keep Vlc up my sleeve, so thanks for that tip again.

  • Video Conversion Loss of sound II

I know that this topic was covered for the most part. I have read the forum thoroughly and was amazed that I wasn't the only one who had this problem, the only difference is that im using Windows, the MPEG streamclip 1.5.1 only seems to be for MAC users and I was wondering what should i do to get sound to my IPOD G5 if I have a Windows Machine?

  • IMac G5 Video Import Problem, Choppy Sound

I posted this question in the iMovie area, but nobody answered.
Recently when I go to import video from my Canon ZR25 to iMovie 5.0.2, the video is fine but the audio is chopped up as if by fan blades. It's very annoying. This camera and computer worked fine together before. Does anybody know what is causing this and how to fix it? Thanks.

Have you tried it with another cable? And do other firewire peripherals work properly when connected?

I Am having problems with the video freezing and the sound carrying on whilst watching BBC IPLAYER ITV PLAYER until I reboot video and the problem acures again

Your Mac runs maintenance in the background for you.
Command + R gives you access to restore, repair, or reformat the drive using OS X Recovery
No idea why that was suggested.
You may have a third party video player installed that's causing an incompatibility issue.
    Check these folders:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
    /Library/Input Methods/
    /Library/InputManagers/
    /Library/ScriptingAdditions
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
    ~/Library/Input Methods/
    ~/Library/InputManagers/
    ~/Library/ScriptingAdditions
The first four locations listed are in the root-level Library on your hard disk, not the user-level Library in your Home folder. The tilde (~) represents your Home folder.
To access the Home folder in OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and chooseGo > Library.

I have an audio problem that when ever I use my Firefox web browser it makes a sharp audible sound similar to a video game gun shot sound effect when ever I go into a new web page? I change to a new site or page a page on a site, I get an audible gunshot ping trpe sound? It happens almost every time. Its very annoying and is driving me nuts???
Any body out there had this happen also or know how to diagnose and fix this type of problem? I would hate to have to delete my whole Firefox program and have to start over again. If that is the case I will probably just scrap it and go on to try Google Chrome instead. I already have GC partially set up. I really have liked Firefox up to this point. I know add ons can cause problems at times but I haven't added anything new lately and this just started happening?

i have the same problem in my iphone. i can receive call and talk and listen too otherwise no sound at all like ringer tone , on-off click soung , video-music song , game sound.
i have tried to clean the audio jack too but result is the same. Can any body help me please.

No external sound or not sound at all - external or when using the earbuds?
Standard troubleshooting steps in order are; power the iPhone off and on, Reset by pressing and holding the Home key and Sleep/Wake or On/Off key simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so, Restore.
i had it once before, restored the iPhone and it was solved, but i don't want to restore my iPhone every day.
Does this happen every day? If not, when was the last time this happened?
If you have sound when using the earbuds, another thing to try is insert the earbuds and start playing a song - making sure the sound can be heard with the earbuds. Without pausing the song, remove the earbuds.
If no sound is available with the speaker and a the troubleshooting steps do not resolve it or one of the steps does resolve it but the same occurs again, time to give AppleCare a call (800) 694-7466 or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

  • Problems with sound only on video not audio files

    Hello
My first post here. I am having some problems with sound on video files. It is almost no sound, and the sound that is there is only crackling noise. I have the Creative X-treme audio soundcard and have installed the Vista codec pack and the K-lite codec pack. I have also updated the soundcard driver. The thing is that these problems only occure on video files, not on audio files such as mp3's. Can anyone help me?

About alsa dmix, and for the record:
On an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     E7500  @ 2.93GHz, the following are my finding about
quality/cpu when mixing two streams at 44khz:
    a snippet from my .asoundrc
    #converter "samplerate_best" # perfect: 16%cpu, maybe overkill
    #converter "samplerate_medium" # almost perfect: 6%cpu
    #converter "samplerate" # good: 4%cpu, definitely usable
#converter "samplerate_linear" # bad: 2%cpu, way better than default wine resampler
#converter "samplerate_order" # very bad: 2%cpu, like the default wine resampler
Here is the reference topic: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=942724
I may be wrong, but in an opensource world (code reusing), i really doubt pulseaudio could lead to better quality/cpuuse tradeoff.
Pulseaudio, being just another layer atop of alsa, could only lead to higher cpu usage.

  • Problem in DAM video conversion

    Hi,
I am using Webcenter Content 11.1.1.8.0 and I configured IBR for video conversion.
When I uploadmp4 video file, I am getting below error,
Content item 'Content000242' was not successfully checked in. Unable to set the default rendition set for DAM conversion
I have seen the below instructions in documentation that I need to update config file.
    1. Open the following directory of your Content Server instance:
    <IntradocDir>/config/
    2. Open the config.cfg file in a standard text editor.
    3. Under the #Additional Variables section, add DefaultVideoConversionSet and set
it equal to the factory you want as the default rendition set. The default must
match a rendition set in the choice list of the VideoConversions metadata field,
defined using the Configuration Manager applet.
    4. Save changes to the config.cfg file and close the file.
    5. Restart Content Server
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e10800.pdf
    Pg 85 and 86.
What is the value I should put in config. file.
    DefaultVideoConversionSet = {What Value Goes Here}.
Please let me know if I need to do any other configuration.
    Thanks

    Hi Kumar ,
I think the same question is posted here :
Unable to set the default rendition set for DAM conversion

  • Video Conversion Questions

Am having a couple of problems with video conversion for the Apple TV.
I had to reset and install OSX a few months back, now when I use FFMPEGX to convert some AVI files to H264 it is writing the audio and video as seperate files, cant understand why its suddenly doing this as worked fine before, anyone got any ideas?
Secondly, If I try to use Quicktime, Flip4mac writes that it was done with a trial version all over the video output, but I have the Pro Version of Quicktime so can't understand why it uses flip4mac at all, isnt Quicktime supposed to do this by itself, and is there a way round this, short of buying flip4mac?

when I use FFMPEGX to convert some AVI files to H264 it is writing the audio and video as seperate files
Sounds like FFMPEG is doing this. Check the source codecs and/or your default/manual settings. Some conversions may require an intermediate conversion in which the audio and video are first "demuxed" and placed in separate files which are them converted to the final compression formats and then merged to a single file.
While QT recognizes the AVI file container (i.e., AVI is not a compression format), you must have the same codecs to make the file (many combinations are possible) playable and/or convertible to a fully supported QT compression format. QT does not supply proprietary interleaved codecs and you must install your own. DivX, Flip4Mac, Perian, etc. all have codecs that play different codecs that may be contained in the AVI container. As long as there are no conflicts, then everything works fine. In some cases, however, two or more components may be able to play/convert the same codec. In this event, QT seems to call the handler which was last installed. If this is the case, then you may be able to remove/re-install codecs in a different order which satisfies your needs. In other cases, the codec in question may only be supplied one of the third-party providers and you have no choice but to use their product. Some of the providers allow you to play the codecs in question but require you to purchase conversion decoders and/or decoders separately. (E.g., DivX and Flip4Mac.) Whether or not you purchase these products depends on how badly you want to convert the file in question.
