Video performance stutters at startup

Just replaced some cheap home-use switches with an SG200-26 and am now get stuttering at startup for video streaming. works fine after (a long) 5-10 secs or so. Haven't messed with QoS, VLANs or much of anything else yet; everything is pretty much out of the box. What could be going on?
Edit: am on the latest firmware

Dear Jean,
Thank you for reaching the Small Business Support Community.
I'd say the "Egress Filter per Queue" QoS feature is a good start point, Egress shaping is useful for when a destination expects a smooth flow of data as opposed to irregular bursts of data.  Please check on the article below for details;
http://sbkb.cisco.com/CiscoSB/Loginr.aspx?login=1&pid=2&app=search&vw=1&articleid=1460
Regular QoS settings may also apply.  Please refer to chapter 20 ni the admin guide for that matter;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/csbss/sf20x_sg20x/administration_guide/78-21139.pdf
Please do not hesitate to reach me back if the problem persists and/or if there is any further assistance I may help you with.

  • Video/audio Stuttering on Macbook 13

    Hi All
I have a mid 2007 Macbook 13 running OS X Lion 10.7.4.  all up to date.  Initially I had 4G's of ram ( I know it only reads 3 ) now I have it running on only 2.
Problem is video/audio stuttering when running movies. mostly netflix and or connected to a flat screen tv. on wireless or wired connection.  but it also happens just running youtube videos or videos that I have on the system mostly in .AVI format.   I could be running movies with VLC or quicktime and same ting.  I've tried turning every running program off.  like firewall, little snitch, sophos AV, etc.  after turning them all off I do a restart.  I have done permssion repair, checked the disk, run the daily scripts,  even downgraded to SL to see if Lion was too much for the system and nothing.  of of the 4G's of ram that I have.  I swapped them to see if maybe one or 2 of them ware bad.  when I install the operating system, I do a clean install.  delete partition, format, the whole thing and bring it up to date.  not all at one time.  disk permissions repaired after each big updated.  almost half the time the videos will run ok and than it starts stuttering.  when is doing it.  not even the mouse responds in those few seconds.  is like something is grabbing all the system memory for a few seconds at a time.  it has gotten to the point that the system completly frezzes and I get that black translusent window that says the system needs to be restarted.
I have about 40% free HD space.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The behavior you mention is typical of MacBooks with the GMA 950 video chipset and 64MB VRAM.
The best solution I've found is to quickly pause the video and let the video load completely before watching, IF the website allows it and will preload the content. Not all of them do. Some sites automatically buffer before they begin playing.
Watch in a window rather than full-screen.
Watch content on your MacBook screen rather than a HDTV.
The Safari Extension "ClickToFlash" lets you choose whether to load Flash content at all. It also allows 'preferring' H264/HTML5 web video content when available, and seems to be a bit better than simply defaulting to Flash content for every website.
I have a mid-2007 MacBook 2,1 with 4/3GB RAM. It is the very oldest model capable of supporting Lion. After reading of performance issues with these older systems in these forums, I chose to remain on Snow Leopard rather than upgrading to Lion. Snow Leopard runs most things I do very well in 3GB. Lion really seems to need 4GB and would like 8GB, from what I read here.
You don't mention how fast your internet connection is. A faster internet connection MIGHT help some. A wired Ethernet connection MIGHT offer a bit more throughput than WiFi. Worth trying out, especially if you have a friend with a faster connection where you can try before you pay to upgrade.
Ultimately we're talking about 5-year-old computers. That's "ancient" in computer life cycles, and the best solution (not most cost-effective) is a new(er) Mac. It's not a problem unique to Mac. Old Windows XP systems lack the performance of new hardware running 64-bit Windows 7.
New or recent Refurbs with 4GB or more RAM, faster video chipset, more VRAM, faster clock-speed, Intel "Sandy Bridge" (or "Ivy Bridge" likely coming soon) dual-core or quad-core processor, and, yes, a hefty pricetag to match. Anything else is at best a temporary measure to buy a bit of time (a year, maybe?) until you can purchase a new(er) faster better Mac.

  • Flash Video performance is horrible in Internet Explorer 11 & 10 Win7 64bit

Video performance is horrible with Internet Explorer 11 & 10 on a Win7 64bit system.
    Flash Player version 12.0.0.70
The video is choppy and stuttering and it's dropping frames no smooth playback is possible.
HTML5 Video playback is super smooth in IE 10 & 11.
ActiveX Shockwave Flash Add On is installed correctly and activated.
    ActiveX filtering is off.
nvidia Video hardware (Quadro FX 2700M) drivers are current and up to date with the latest version 332.50
Tested with Flash hardware acceleration on and off = same problem
Tested with Internet Explorer hardware acceleration (software rendering) on and off = same problem
Any suggestions what the culprit may be?

What version of Internet Explorer are you using?

  • Conky affects video performance while refreshig itself?

    Hi,
today I've installed conky and configured it to run with some basic configuration fond here http://conky.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html.
Happy with new fancy stuff installed on my system I've ran VLC to watch some movie. Unfortunately it came out that conky - while refreshing itself - affects video performance really badly. So badly that some stuttering on VLC is visible. In other words playback is no more smooth.
But just to have a proof I checked glxgears. Having conky turned on I had something like 40 FPS less (lack of smooth animation every time conky was refreshing its status was also easy to notice).
So - is just mine configuration broken or it's conky's fault? I don't believe that no one noticed this problem before.
I have nVidia Quadro NVS 140M and using nvidia-304xx drivers.

that shouldn't happen, unless maybe if you ran it on really slow system with no gfx acceleration whatsoever.
Or if you were running some heavy script every time conky refreshes.
It might be a good idea to post the actual config you're using..

  • Satellite P100 PSPAD: Unable to update BIOS 3.8 and poor video performance

    Hello,
I have absolute shoddy video performance on my machine as well as the fan on/off issues.
To add to my frustrations the WinPhlash programme included in BIOS version 3.8 dumps out when trying to flash giving a PHLASHNT.SYS unable to load message with various error codes associated with it (codes 5 and 147 depending on if I run the exe as it is extracted from the ZIP, or run the extracted files independantly).
I have checked all permissionings on the folder and I definately have full control - but still a generic "check your accounts, if you have no permissions please log in again!" message is displayed.
any help with my BIOS issue would be apreciated.

    Hi,
I have had the same error message on P100 PSPADE and furthermore the laptop was no longer under control, neither by keyboard or by menu impossible to switch off. I have had to unplug and to remove the battery. Then impossible to switch on.
According to the local ASP the motherboard is KO (??) and the safest way to upgrade the bios was to boot from an USB floppy in DOS mode?
    Sounds strange but be careful.

  • Regarding video performance.

    Hi,
I bought a MSI P7N SLI Platinum 750i chipset based motherboard Sn. 010B0807485693.  After 8 months the board would not post, i.e. no display on the monitor even though the Harddisk LED and the CPU fans would run.
Handed over the motherboard to Microport, they sent it to Smartlink Network Systems Limited RMA Center N.R. Road Bangalore, I had to call up about 25 times to Smartlink and they took one month to give a replacement with the MSI P7N SLI Sn. 601-7380-010B0803214616. Got it on 18/9/2009.
The motherboard which I got from Smartlink is much older, as can be seen from the serial numbers.  The video quality, i.e. clarity, color as well as frame rates are very bad compared to the original motherboard that I had.
I now know that the original motherboard never had a problem, only the technician at the Microport, Bangalore shop had delibrately not plugged in the power cord for the 9600 gt graphics card and unnecessarily made me RMA my motherboard.
I want to know if the older boards (of the same model i.e. MSI P7N SLI 750i platinum) used a different technology than the new motherboards have?
Is there a way to improve the video performance on my computer with this older motherboard.
    Thanks.

All I can say about it is that, as far as I know, the P7N you got back, shouldnt be slower then the one you send in, they should be identical in setup/build.
I have the P6N platinum and the only difference between your and my board is that yours is able to run 45nm C2Q and has 2, I believe, PCIe 2.0 slots, where as I have 2 PCIe 1.1 slots.
But that doesnt make mine a slow board either, with current setup, see my sig, I have 0 issues or performance problems.
If you can, first try different videodrivers, be sure to delete old ones with drivercleaner or such.
If that doesnt work, might try a fresh install on seperate disk/partition and see if that helps.
But if performance still is bad, I would take it back, in my opinion you should not get an older/slower board back if you rma your new one.

  • Flash video performance poor in Firefox 3 and other newer Gecko-based browsers; fails to detect mouse movement in full-s

Regardless of configuration, I have found Flash video
performance on Firefox 3 to be severely sub-par. Numerous visual
lags occur throughout a typical Youtube video as it cannot seem to
manage to maintain a steady frame rate. When in full-screen, mouse
movement is not detected, forcing me to click in a full-screen
Vimeo video in order to display its controls when I should have
only needed to move the mouse. I was informed that the technical
explanation for this is that Flash isn't triggering MouseEvents
    other than MouseEVENT.CLICK.
In my tests, this behavior also occurred in Flashplayers 9
and 10 as well as with recent versions of other browsers that also
use the Gecko rendering engine, namely Camino, Flock and Songbird,
but not in Firefox 2. I was told by a Mozilla employee that this
issue can only be solved by Adobe.
This has forced me to use the Safari browser as my only
available work-around. I implore that these issues get resolved as
    quickly as possible.

  • Video Performance On 2009 Mini Before And After Snow Leopard

When I ran Leopard on my 2009 Mac Mini, I could watch full screen video on one of my two monitors while surfing the web on the other. It wasn't flawless, I could see some latency issues, but it was entirely tolerable. With Snow Leopard, the full screen video openly stutters, and frames are being dropped like mad. Unless a future update improves this, I've basically lost the ability to watch video on a second monitor and surf the net at the same time.

If you have not done since upgrading to Snow Leopard, run Disk Utility and use +Repair Disk Permissions+.
As a test, create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. In the new account, you will be using default Snow Leopard user preference settings, and only standard background processes are running (unless you installed third-party software that runs at the system level). Try doing the video thing that worked before, to see if there is any improvement.
If it works better, there is something in your normal account that is conflicting with how Snow Leopard operates. You can focus your trouble-shooting there to figure out what it is.
If it is the same, the problem is likely to be at the system level. Hopefully, the first update will help. In the mean time, if you happen to have an external drive that you can erase, you might try a fresh installation there and boot from it, to see if that makes a difference. Alternately, you can, of course, back up your data, erase your internal drive, install Snow Leopard, and restore your data.

If you can view a ProRes 4-2-2 video at all, then you either have the independent ProRes422 Playback component installed or the FCP "Pro" video components installed.

Check your "~/Library/QuickTime" folder for your various "Pro" components. If in doubt that you have them all, re-run the FCP installer and it should add any missing components, apps, or utilities.

  • Audio and video playback stuttering...sometimes

I'm having issues with audio and video playback stuttering at times in several applications. It's the same kind of skipping or stuttering in each application, whether it's iTunes (version 10) or YouTube or Netflix (Safari). I can also hear it when I'm just adjusting the volume via the keyboard, the "clicks" stutter.
I'm not running anything other than iTunes and Safari at once, the iMac has 2 gbs of RAM, it's running Snow Leopard. It also will work sometimes for a while. I just can't figure out why it will work sometimes and not others. Any ideas about what the cause may be? Quicktime X have anything to do with it?

video playback stuttering at times in several applications.
    Quicktime wouldn't work either.
Until you max out your ram, you are pretty much stuck between a rock and a hard place.  In the meantime, make sure you have the latest versions of
    Adobe Flash Player
    Flip4Mac
    VLC Media Player
    Perian
    Movist
I'm noticing that in general it's running extremely slowly now, even with only the browser running.
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and restart your computer.

  • Do they have 2011 american idol contestants live video performances?

Every year, iTunes had American Idol Contestants' live video performances to purchase, as well as, just the song.  I cannot find that for this year, 2011.
    Would appreciate any help!

The songs from this season are offered as singles.  The first icon for each week is the album and the singles are the next icons.  I am not sure why you aren't seeing this on the AI downloads page on ITunes.  It shouldn't be a problem.  If you are having trouble, try searching for the contestants name whose single you want to download.

  • Recent ML upgrade leads to widespread video performance issues.

    Hello,
I recently took the leap to Mountain Lion and I'm starting to regret my decision. I have noticed a real drop off in video performance across the entire system.
Firstly, I came across a well documented issue with Final Cut Pro 7 video playback in the canvas. Playback is almost unusable due to introduced artifacts and tearing. However the video performance issues seem more wide spread than "unsupported software". I notice extremely rough image switching when I switch between workspaces, particularly on the second monitor. Also, when the screen saver kicks in and it swaps images, the same very klunky image swap is noticed on the second monitor. Also when the Reading List display is toggled in Safari, the remaining window slide left or right is not smooth at all, irrespective of what monitor it is on. There are other Safari rendering issues too, involving flickers, and other general video issues.
My machine is a mid-2010 Mac Pro, 6 core, 3.3GHz with 24GB of RAM and a 5870 graphics card. None of these issues were present in Lion.
I was wondering whether anyone else had noticed similar issues and if so, what if anything can be done about it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Scott

This problem is not restricted to Leopard, 10.4.10 with QuickTime 7.3 is affected too. 10.4.11 doesn't show any improvements either. Yes, we need a fix for this... but one that solves this problem on Tiger as well, please.

  • K8TNEO2-F V2.0 sub-par video performance

    K8TNEO2-F V2.0
I am wondering if anyone has this board and has any experience with less than stellar video performance ? Reason I am asking is I have been all through the bios while attempting to improve the video performance.
What has prompted this is that I had all the same components in another box with an intel setup . Processor was a prescott 3.4 gig with one meg cache, 2 gigs of dual channel pc 3200 ram, 2 74 gig raptors 16 meg cache in raid 0, soundblaster audigy 2,and a x1950 pro agp with 512 megs of ddr 3. The only things that are different in the new box is the mobo (K8TNEO2-F V2.0) and an opteron 175 dual core. OS install and all the driver installs went flawless so I am not sure whats going on . I have the latest drivers from MSI site along with the latest vid card drivers .
The same games that I had previously installed with the intel system are performing at or near 20 % less in regards to FPS. Every thing else is improved  significantly with the new mobo and processor.
I am open to any suggestions or bios settings that may correct this problem.
    thanks

Thanks mate, Im gonna blame it on being so late
Thanks everyone as I have figured it out being directly related to video card drivers *amn ATI Grrr. I reverted to an earlier driver I had stored on one of my network backup drives . Installed it , tweeked the card some (slight OC, enabled fast read and write) changed aperture in bios to 512 . Rebooted and fired up some of my favorite games and they are back to where they use to be and beyond . Im one happy camper as the upgrade was not in vain after all . Thanks again for the responses here and looks like I have found a new home

  • Could not find any capable video play modules upon startup.

After installing Premier Pro CC, I received this error message (also pictured below): "ADOBE PREMIER PRO STARTUP ERROR. Adobe Premier Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again."
And here is an Adobe help page that offers four solutions to this issues, Error "Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules" | Startup. But I'll be honest, I feel like I need my hand held through solutions 2-4. I know nothing about video adapter drives, AMD Radeon cards or BIOS setup.
Could someone here expand upon these solutions for me? It would be much appreciated.
FWIW, I'm on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.4, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, and Intel Iris graphics.
    Thanks
    Harry

So according to Apple, Premiere Pro simply cannot run on my laptop. It does not have and never will have a "Adobe-certified GPU card for GPU-accelerated performance".
    Adobe, is this true?

  • Choppy Video Performance

Safari is working for YouTube, but on other websites that have video content it gets choppy and very slow.
I tested my down load connection. It averages 2.3 Mbps. I'm using a 1 GHz G4 Powerbook with 768 MB Ram.
Firefox does the same thing as Safari.
Is there a better way to watch these video websites?
    Jesse Tyler

Recent updates or changes I did not deliberately make to my old G4 have made Safari performance sluggish in all aspects. Safari 3.1.1, MacOS 10.4.11.
Scrolling with the mighty mouse hesitates.
All video clips, including native QT, stutters.
Even typing is sluggish, characters appears one or two keystrokes behind the keyboard activity. I cannot accurately select text in a field. Backspacing to delete text entry on a Web field takes several heartbeats for the cursor to move. It's weird.
Searching through the forum has led me to try several suggested cures but, since these issues are present only in Safari, my intuition tells me this is a problem with the application, not with Safari's caches or permissions or .plists. Deleting or purging those items did nothing to improve the performance.
