Virtual machine: Execution trace. HELP

HI,
I want to write an application using the latest jdk which shows a graphical representation of a program's execution. There are already commercial programs available I know but my one will be aimed at helping new programmers visualise method calls etc. helping debugging.
Is this possible? How does one log an execution trace, and know the variables, objects and method calls at a particular time in a program.
Any help would be very much appreciated. I need to know where to start! (And how!)

  • Starting virtual machine in VMware Fusion disables bluetooth

When I connect to a virtual machine (winXP), I get an error message in OSX, and the bluetooth icon greys out. I can't get bluetooth back to work unless I reboot.
Powering down the virtual machine doesn't help.
Even the bluetooth icon in system preferences is gone then, like I don't have a bluetooth anymore.
    I'm on a MBP.
    Any ideas?

Go to the VM Fusion forum which is where support for the product is available.

  • SCVMM Default Virtual Machine Path - CSV

I am having an issue where SCVMM is dropping the default virtual machine path from the host leaving a blank setting (none).
    Below is my setup:
    3 Win2K8R2SP1 host clustered
    CSV used mapped to C:\ClusterStorage\<lunname>\
I add in the default path C:\ClusterStorage\<lunname>\ when I add the host to SCVMM then turn off placement for all other local drives
The default path stays in the configuration and is listed for placement until the host are either refershed on a automated basis or I manually choose the refresh host job.  After the refresh I see the change from vpaths to (none).
This is causing issue with a deployment wizard from Citrix for default virtual machine placement, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    EDIT:
Sorry forgot to menito I am using SCVMM 2008 R2 SP1 as well.

You can select  option "Make this virtual machine highly available" will  store VMs
    in CSV,
If you are creating new VM from an Existing VM template , you have to choose the same option and  in
"Select Destination"  Wizard  Choose - "Place the Virtual Machine on a Host"
This will help you to to save Your VMs in to CSV...
    Cheers

I am running remoteapps. How do i connect the applications to retrieve databse from aa Azure virtual machine?
    Please help!

    Hi,
To allow applications, that you publish through Azure Remote App, to be able to connect to backend servers running in Azure IaaS, the Azure RemoteApp vnet and the Azure IaaS vnet need to be connected. The following guide might be helpful here:

  • Importing Virtual Machines

I have a hyper-v server that got the BSOD so I reinstalled the OS and my machines were saved on another drive.  I tried to import the vms but I can't get the network connectivity going.  I created a virtual switch (VLAN 98 Port 1) but its not
allowing me to connect to anything from the virtual machine.  Please help.  Thanks.

    NOC, I'll assume you're using Server 2012 R2 on your Hyper-V host.
    I recommend the following steps:
    - Verify your Hyper-V settings like:
It's domain joined (you'll need that for live-migration)
Check Hyper-V setting. Make sure your Virtual Hard Disk and Virtual Machine settings default to where you want them. Check Live-migration and storage migration settings. Make sure they match the standard set for your environment.
Check your Virtual Switch Manager settings. vSwitch name must match exactly the same vSwitch name on other Hyper-V hosts in your environment to allow live-migration. It's typically set as an external switch. Make sure it's connected the correct NIC from
the drop down menu (the one with access to VLAN 98 in your case). If you want to give the parent partition access to this VLAN check the Allow Management OS.. box. If your physical switch port is configured as truck port (no VLAN 802.1q tagging) check the
Enable VLAN ID.. box and enter the VLAN ID 98 below that.
    - If we're talking about a handful of VMs (under 10), you can recreate them from scratch using the VHDX files. Point the VM disks to the existing disks. You don;t need any files from the old VMs except the VHD/VHDX files. Setup memory/cores/vNICs/... In
most environments you would have this documented some where.. Assuming your physical switch port is configured as trunk port, you would VLAN tag your frames for each VM NIC. Check the Enable VLAN ID and enter the VLAN ID.
Finally start the VM, log in with local admin credentials. The VM will have a new VNIC because of new MAC address presented by the new Hyper-V host. Enter the static IP desired, and verify communication (ping) other machines on the 98 VLAN.
    - If we're talking about dozens or hundreds of VMs, I recommend using Powershell. Most of the scripts you'll need for this task can be found here http://superwidgets.wordpress.com/category/powershell/

    Hi,
The key point would be this:
The Virtual Machine Worker Process has lost its connection to the root\virtualization WMI namespace: General access denied error (0x80070005).
Please open MMC, add Component Services snap-in:
Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer -> DCOM Config -> Windows Management Instrumentation -> Right Click, Properties -> Security “Launch and Activation Permission” -> Edit -> gave Authenticated Users
    Full Control
    Check the result.

Thanks - Of Course the first thing I checked and did.
    Disc Utility reads as follows:
    Capacity : 159.18 GB (159,182,127,104 Bytes)
Format : Mac OS Extended (Journaled)  Available : 11.47 GB (11,472,896,000 Bytes)
Owners Enabled : Yes  Used : 147.71 GB (147,709,231,104 Bytes)
Number of Folders : 139,540  Number of Files : 511,832
Activity Monitor(Disc Usage) shows something quite interesting.  Mac HD and Ramanan (Main User) - My hard drive is only 160GB!  Would the retired engineer gentleman please note as well.  Many thanks. Rams

  • Solaris HotSpot Virtual Machine Error, Unexpected Signal 11 NEED HELP

    Hi all
We are running a thin jsp application for video streaming live event running
on a BEA WebLogic Personalization Server 3.2 on Solaris (streaming servers
are separate and do not affect the server). After putting it in production
we have experienced serious memory problems with our environment. When the
servers are running under heavy load, they eat all available memory until
they finally crash, please see log message below. We can see that the
garbage collection is running but it doesn't seem to keep up with the memory
consumption. The problem is described in a bug report at SUN, but it is
marked as a "no fix" with the reasoning that programming resources are now
    allocated to jdk1.4?
    Log message:

When this occured we ran JDK 1.3.0 with HotSpot Server VM on Solaris 8. WLS

We have now upgraded to jdk1.3.1_02 B02 but still have a problem with memory
leaks. We have so far been able to restart the server before memory is
exhausted and has hence not seen the same error message after the upgrade.
The memory is not freed when Weblogic aborts, the SUN server has to be
rebooted to free the memory. We now have to restart our 3 servers aprox.
every 6 hours. The servers are equiped with 2G physical memory each. We have
also tried setting hotspot to -client and setting -XX:MaxPerm.
The HW configuration is as follows:
1 Foundry Server Iron load balancer (with one hot stand by).
    3 Sun E420R, 2 x 440MHz CPU, 2GB RAM. Running in a cluster with one apache
and one WLPS instance on each
The SW configuration is as follows:
JDK 1.3.1_02 B02 with HotSpot Server VM
    Solaris 8.
    WLS 5.1, SP 9
    WLPS 3.2.
    Oracle server 8.1.7
    Oracle client 8.1.6?
    This bug is described in
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4408730.html.
It is also described as a known problem in
    http://www.weblogic.com/platforms/sun/index.html.
It has also been described by SUN as a problem arising from multiple nested
try/catch blocks appearing in generated java code from servlets, especially
    on WebLogic and Apache.
As SUN has said that they will not fix this bug we are trying to find a
workaround, but have yet found one. We have been looking into changing the
heap size and setting GC options on the JVM, but haven't found the optimal
solution. We would be very interested in experiences with tuning gc
parameters, documentation on solaris patches for JVMs, JVM tuning, WebLogic
    tuning, HotSpot tuning.
Has anyone experienced similar problems and found a workaround. We would be
very happy to hear any suggestions as soon as possible,
    thanks
    Kris

Perhaps the -noTryBlocks option to jspc might help you. See here:

  • Help Requested - Creating Solaris 10 x64 Virtual Machine on an ESX Server

    Hi All,
I have been trying to create a Solaris 10 64 bit Virtual Machine on ESX and VMWare server Virtualization Platform.
One of the forum entries said - The installer doesn't really care. At every boot, the processor type will be determined and a 32-bit or a 64-bit kernel will be run (unless you override it)
I hence downloaded the iso from http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/get.jsp and I installed it. When I run uname -a command on the terminal, this is what is displayed -
    SunOS unknown 5.10 Generic_127128-11 i86pc i386 i86pc
This indicates that the kernel is 32 bit right?
Please help me create the 64 bit VM.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Raj.

    Hi,

    T1000 - No OS installed.
Attempted an Install by doing - boot net -v install

I think it is possibly not mounting the nfs share. I

Something must be trying to run a Java program but there is a CLASSPATH error.
Aftrer you install Java, you can click on a "runnable" jar file and it should run.
Do you startup files somehow refer to a jar file somewhere?

  • Help! Azure Cloud Services and Virtual Machine Web Servers Load Balancing

I have a cloud service. I have two virtual machines setup as web servers each with IIS installed. I have configured my domain registrar to point my domain name to the cloud service IP address. I also went into the endpoints of each virtual machine and verified
that I have http port 80 setup on both in a load balanced set.
I am unable to access websites on either server at this point. DNS propogation site shows "error: token mismatch"...this has been setup since yesterday and still error.
Can anyone assist me in where I went wrong? Am I confused to how the cloud service should work? I am assuming it will allow me to load balance the two virtual machines in the way I have configured above. Please help!!!!

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in here.
We are checking on this issue and will get back at earliest.

  • Virus help needed:  Parallels:  Windows XP virtual machine

I will preface my remarks by apologizing in advance for my lack of technical sophistication, inexperience with Windows, and experimental approach to providing tech support to myself. It just happens to be the case that I have infrequently needed to use computers in my work life, aside from operating cash registers equipped with POS systems; and have used Macs at home for my entire life as a computer user. (I only started using the internet about nine years ago, although I am 44 years old.)
Here is the background of my situation:
In Winter 2008, in anticipation of training for and entering into a new line of work, I purchased a MacBook3,1. Because the new line of work would regularly require me to use Windows-based applications, I purchased Parallels 3.0 at the same time that I purchased the MacBook.
I installed Parallels 3.0 from a disk, installed Windows XP, and set up a virtual machine. I used this VM for more than a year and a half without incident. A one-year certificate for Kapersky Internet Security was included with the purchase of Parallels. In the meantime, I upgraded to Parallels 4.0 in Winter 2009. The upgrade was accomplished via download, using the product key that I'd purchased.
At some point, my Kapersky certificate expired. I was unclear (though I am no longer) as to whether running Windows on Mac was any different - - i.e. more secure -- than running it on Mac. I made a mental note to look into the whole matter and avoided using the internet while working in the Windows VM.
At some point, however, I lapsed in my practice of avoiding using the internet while working in the Windows VM. I ended up with a virus, of course.
That said, I had (and have) a back-up of what I believe to be a pre-virus Windows VM. I used this back-up to add/create a new VM. I was prompted to back up the back-up before so doing; and was also prompted to update the new machine to Parallels 4.0. Which I did. The update to Parallels 4.0 took a long time.
In the interim, I had moved some working files from the infected VM (which themselves were infected, judging from all indications) into the Mac OS for temporary storage.
My memory of what I did and what happened next is imperfect. But here it is in gist and to the best of my recollection:
When I booted the new machine, I received a message to the effect that I should install Kapersky Internet Security -- although the certificate I'd purchased along with Parallels 3.0 had ostensibly expired. I installed Kapersky. Then I received a message that I needed to update Kapersky. Which I did. This, too, took a long time.
I then cloned the new machine.
I then rebooted the new machine and moved the infected files into it. I scanned the infected files for viruses and nothing showed. Then I opened one or more of them to see if things were operating satisfactorily. The virus, I soon discovered, was present in the new machine. At some point I also received a message to the effect that the Kapersky software itself had been altered? And subsequently received a message prompting me to accept or not accept a rule relevant to internet security/Kapersky. (I forget exactly what I did in response.)
I then booted the clone -- into which I had NOT moved the infected files. The virus eventually showed up there as well. I also received a message to the effect that Kapersky may not be up to date -- even though the VM was a clone of a machine that was ostensibly recently updated. AND I received the same massage prompting me to accept or not accept a rule relevant to internet security/Kapersky. Which I ignored.
I have since deleted the new machine and its clone. I have backed up onto CD my infected work files in case I may learn in the future of some way of disinfecting them.
What do I do from here? I am interning in my new line of work, and need to get Windows up and running ASAP for that reason. I still have the back-up of what I believe to be a pre-virus Windows XP VM.
Sorry to be so broad and so vague.
    Thanks for any feedback.

Kaspersky has a tip area of what to do. So does Norton Community. And one of the best anti-malware is actually free, Microsoft Security Essentials.
A lot of poeple use MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpywear in a crunch or regularly.

Vista and Windows 7 are more secure, there are still vulnerabilities in most browsers, plug-ins, and I'd say Internet Explorer 8 can be the most secure and reliable web browser on Windows.

  • "A critical error has occurred while running the virtual machine and the machine execution has been stopped"

    I have the following error:

I think that is not a Clusterware issue, The clusterware installation may generating a high load on your machine and Virtual Box is not supporting.
Check vbox.log file to identify root cause.
