  • Virus scan a file before upload.

    Hi friends,
I wanted to virus scan a file before being uploaded to the server. I have basically no idea how this could be done in java.Could anyone help me out in this.

Well, you'd have to virus scan after upload, since you couldn't to it on the client. And then you'd have to either find virus scan software with a Java API or use JNI to access a C++ API, or if it supports a command-line mode, use Runtime.exec() to execute that and parse that command's output.

  • Saving to file before storing into a database in a REST service

A mobile back-end I am building should receive a larger amount of data (some sensor recordings) from an Android phone. The phone does not have much use of it so it was most efficient to store the data into plain files (SQLite can get quite slow with larger
amounts). Now when we upload the data to a REST service backed with a distributed database, we have another issue. Storing to it takes some time, since it is really a lot. I thought of uploading the file to the web service as fast as possible, leave the phone
alone, cache the file somewhere on the server and then some long-running workers will pick the data up and chunk it into databases. We have some other mechanisms to verify the data is properly stored and so on, but that is not important.
I would like to know is the REST->file->database approach valid? My concern is where to store the file? Disk, some in-memory database, a cache? Web servers fail (we can request a re-upload, but I would rather mitigate the risk earlier), or the server
can get cluttered. I'm afraid the local storage on the web servers does not scale really well, if we have multiple workers and servers.
    Thank you in advance.

You could save the data to a local file like people have indicated and then upload to storage as a blob, alternatively you could also write directly to Table Storage. We have getting starteds for both of these here:
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/services/storage/ - just click on the Java tab.

  • Virus scan during file check-in or upload

Is there any option available for doing virus scan on file being check-in in UCM? Is there any UCM service/ webservice available to do virus scan?
If we've implement custom logic for same, what's the best practice or approach to be followed from UCM standpoint.

    Hi,
That can be done, for sure, but you will need an antivirus service(third party) that scans the actual file. Once you have that, you can communicate with it via some protocol and make the scanning requests. The service itself will be installed on some machine with all there is to it(according to the specs of the manufacturer) and then you can write a Java client/server (let's say) that adheres to the protocol the service imposes to make the communication possible. The service will do the scanning and your client/server will initiate the request, read the response, communicate with the WCC so on and so forth...
Considering that during the check-in the path of the file being checked-in is available and according to the service's API one can develop a flow that will scan the files before being actually checked-in. We have used SAVAPI - Secure AntiVirus Application Programming Interface (SAVAPI) from Avira that provides an interface to detect malware and repair infected files.

  • Virus scanning of files

    Hi All,
Anyone worked with scanning of files in XI configuration? If yes give me some inputs for this scenario
    Thanks
    Sai

    Yes Sai,
Its true we can scan files in SAP using API's.
You can use the virus scan interface to include external virus scanners in the SAP system to increase the security of your system. This means that you can use a high-performance integration solution to scan files or documents that are processed by applications for viruses. This applies both for applications delivered by SAP and for customer developments, for example, during data transfers across networks or when documents are exchanged using interfaces.

  • Virus Scan on File Attachments

    Hi,
I have added the file upload/download capability to a OAF page using AttachmentTable component. Everything works fine, I am able to upload/download files. But, I have to scan the documents for any viruses before uploading them. Could you please give some pointers on how can I do it?
    Thank you.

Virus scanning is happening for iRecruitement Module if Semanatic antivirus server is installed(This required to buy sementic licence.)
iRec code use this oracle.apps.per.irc.common.VirusCheck file for scanning document (Uploaded by OAF pages).
After enabling this setup and using VirusCheck class you can enable Virus Scanning for your custom code.
We have also tried other options like finding any JAVA or PLSQL API and or any free tool but did n't get success in this way.

  • Scanned Grayscale files not loading into iPhoto

I have just purchased a new iMac, having not been a Mac User before. I have been importing photos from an external (Windows formatted) hard drive with apparent success. However, on attempting to import some scanned jpegs (Epson Perfection V700 Photo scanner) in 8 bit grayscale, I got the "unrecognised format message". No attempt at saving on the desktop and importing into iPhoto from there worked. I then loaded them into Photoshop Elements 4 on the Mac, and saved again as a standard jpeg, but with no luck. However, by chance I tried saving with the "Embed colour profile: Epson Gray - Gamma 1.8" option unchecked in PE4's "Save as" menu. This time the resulting jpeg file did load into iPhoto. Have you any ideas why the original image did not load and what is the significance of why the "non-embedded" image did. Is there a quick way to convert these images, if necessary, using this method - I have a lot of scanned images like this. Another feature which might confirm what is wrong here is that the in Photoshop Elements, the label at the top of the displayed image shows the jpeg name, then size as a %, and then (Gray/8*). The files which load correctly into iPhoto do not show this "*" in Photoshop.

Download and run *+Embed sRGB Profile 2+* on the grayscale photos by dropping the image files onto the Automator workflow application. You can get it from Toad's Cellar.
This will let you avoid having to rescan those files as RGB color.

  • When downloading a file, how do I tell Firefox to not do a virus scan of files with specific extensions such a .gif files?

I'm using AVG Free as my anti-virus program and always use the latest version. I have set scanning options in AVG to skip the scanning of gif and jpg files but that seems to be ignored when I am downloading a very small file of either type. The "Downloads" (Ctrl J) pop-up window shows the progress of the download and scan. At times, the virus scan is so miserably slow for simple gif and jpg files that it is a while until I can once more move my mouse cursor.
By the way, I'm using version 3.6.17 Firefox and WIN 7 Premium.

Unfortunately, I continue to have the problem. Just to make sure, following your suggestion, I shut down Firefox then restarted it but had the same result. Similarly, I rebooted after making the changes but again, no difference. Ah well...
Just thought I'd attach this partial screen print to show that I am in Firefox and that I am downloading a file -- in this case, a daily Doonesbury gif file.
    Thanks for the suggestion though.

  • Virus Scan a file in java

Is there any API in java that scan a file for virus without using any external resources?

    Sreejith-JavaDeveloper wrote:
Is it possible with the help of any external scan engine? You can call out to any external program you wish, but doing this kind of makes using Java pointless in the first place doesn't it?
    1) Could you write a virus scanner in Java? Yes.
    2) Would it be very good? No
    3) Can you invoke some other virus scanner from Java? Yes
    4) Can you programmatically interact with some other virus scanner from Java? It depends on whether that virus scanner implements an appropriate interface for you. Not likely.

  • Legacy flat file to IDOC into SAP

after been given the task of converting a flat file structure to SAP idocs my research as lead me into the daunting world of CAPS. Basically I would like to know if using CAPS is the best choice for me
and if so what is actually involved to make this happen?
    Thanks
    Michael

    hi michael,
from my point of view "the right thing to do" would be:
consider if this is the only task for you that is somehow EAI ish...
if it is do not care about technology... just do it with a very simple program
if you have to evolve choose a tool that is capeable of your systems you own: e.g. SAP AS400 .......
in caps you would typically do this:
    setup CAPS
    write an ftp2queue component
write a converter (custom otd + convertion logic + IDOC OTD)
write a idoc 2 sap component via TRFC
    run ;-)
a good starting point would be:
    http://developers.sun.com/docs/javacaps/index.jsp
    or
    http://wikis.sun.com/display/JavaCAPS/Grok+Java+CAPS
or try to convince your boss that sun will implement it for you if you have the money to do so.
we did that when introducing CAPS (we got it for free besides the CAPS licences of course ;-)).

  • Any means to check the existence of a .pdf file before opening in SAP GUI

    Dear,
I've learnt from one of the thread that there is a sample program SAP_PDF_VIEWER_DEMO that allows us to open a .pdf file within a SAP windows.
However, I would like to know if there are any means to perform a checking on the existence of the .pdf file first before calling the method open_document as coded in the demo program.
Thanks a lot for your advise in advance,
    Francis

where is this pdf file is ? in user desktop?
if yes you can simply use cl_gui_html_viewer for viewing pdf files. and you can use cl_gui_frontend_service=>file_exists method to check whether the file exists

  • Prob in transferring the chinese texts from the text file (UTF-8) into SAP

    Hello SAP Experts ,
We are using 4.6 C version
I created a ABAP to upload Chinese Chars from a text file to SAP Database. The coding that I use to read the text file is showed as following:

                FILENAME                  = P_FILE

I use ABAP debugger to check the field values of the internal table .  But, the values of the internal table which contains chinese chars are changed to some other Chinese characters . How to fix this problem?
I have used ASC filedatatype , but it doesn't work .
    Thanks for your reply .
