Hi,
I know you can have 2 monitors that are mirrored to show the same image on both displays. Is there software to have one monitor zoomed in on the cursor?

AFAIK, the system zoom works on both monitors simultaneously when they are mirrored.
However, you could get the same kind of effect by using VisioVoice. By specifying them as not mirrored, you could put the Image Enlarger and/or Text Enlarger on one screen, while leaving the other as standard, to allow navigation to documents and websites.

I recently, decided to upgrade from 19.0b to the current (26.0) version, as "Tab Utilities" now supports 26, but am finding one of the visual changes counter productive. My two workstations have multiple monitors. One has 2 monitors (2560x1600) and the other one has 4 monitors (2560x1600). On both workstations, I'll place the various Firefox informational windows off the "main monitor" (the one directly in front of me). This way they're available to me at a glance.
(Side note: I refer to my monitors, as 2L, 1 2R and the 4th as "auxiliary.") The one thing I miss most is being able size these Firefox windows independently and in different positions.
I mean I'm used to seeing "Download" on monitor 2R on the right side (1/8 of screen) behind Microsoft Process Explorer's System Information. While the History will be on monitor 2L on the right side at 1/4 of the screen). I'm used to glancing out my right eye at the downloads and when needing something from the past, it's right next to the main monitor #1. This way I can access history quickly.
I can see why a developer (with one monitor say 1920 x 1080) would love seeing one window, but why can't Firefox support both single and multiple monitor users at the same?
Anyway, is there a way to get 26.0 to place at least "Download" and "History" in separate sizable windows?
(I'm not jumping up and down to go back to 19.0b or to try 25, but would like to stay current.)

OK, let's do a real world example of what I'm seeing on my two monitor system. I'll first describe what I experienced with 19.0b and earlier, which is IMHO how it should work in 26 and beyond ('''''as an option'''''). Next, I'll review what I'm seeing in 26.0. Hopefully this will help you understand what changed, from a practical perspective.
In 19.0b (and how I like working) for a multiple monitor system:
On the main monitor, I'm running Firefox. It is 1920 x 1080 and is in the lower right hand corner.
On the the monitor to my right (2R), I have the Download Manager list of downloading and downloaded file. It is in the upper right hand corner and takes up about 300 x 1500 pixels.
For a two monitor system, I have the History List running beside Firefox in the lower right hand corner and it is 600 x 1080.
For a three (plus) monitor system, I have the History List running on my left (2L) monitor. It is in the lower right hand corner and is 600 x 1080 pixels big.
For 26.0: I'm seeing the following:
On the main monitor, I'm running Firefox. It is 1920 x 1080 and is in the lower right hand corner. (This is the SAME as with 19.0b.)
When I start the Download Manager and have it set up as I do for 19.0b, it looks OK. It is on monitor 2R and is 450 x 1500 pixels (because of the new navigation side bar).

When starting the History List, it replaces the Download Manger on the 2R monitor in the 450 x 1500 pixel window. This doesn't work for me because:
1) It is too far away to see. (NOTE: I put it on the 2L monitor in the lower right hand corner. so I can see it easier for the 3+ monitor. In the case of the 2 monitor, I put it beside Firefox again to see it easier.)
Some might ask, but the Download Manager is on the 2R and right side, why can't the History List be there too? Good question, and I can only reply saying:
1) Personal choice.
2) The Download Manager is NOT as busy as the History List and I find it easy to read.
3) The History List is a lot busier and the font size looks to be smaller (might be the same, but it looks smaller to my eyes). I need it closer to me / Firefox.
What I'm saying is this . . . The Download Manager and History List have <ul>''valid reasons to be visible to the user at the same time''.</ul> They also need to be independent of one another for (at least) size and location.
Combining them together is OK for some people, but NOT for everyone. Please make it an option to combine (as in 26) and separate (25 and earlier).
I'm not sure this is the best way to put it, but here goes. Allow users to collapse or expand these various lists by using multiple windows. One window is the collapse view and multiple independent windows is the expand view.
I'll read and comment on the rest of your reply, soon. Thanks for allowing me hopefully to explain my point in a better manner. :-)

How to to slect opened window on specific monitor in multi monitor system

I have four monitor attached to my box. I have already implemented code to move selected window on given monitor on hokey. e.g window1 is opened on monitor one and if that window is active then using hot key i am moving it to specified monitor like Ctrl+1
move to monitor 1, Ctrl + 2 move to monitor 2 ..so on..
Now i want to implement another hot key, which will activate the window opened on specified monitor. means if i press Alt +1 then if any window is on the monitor should get active and if i press alt + 3 then if any window is there on monitor 3 should
get activated.So how to achieve this?

I'm not sure which way you have used to accomplish this feature, in my experience, we can use Screen class to handle multiple display devices:

Screen.AllScreens property, we can get an array of all displays on the system, then Screen.WorkingArea can help us to determine on which display the window is showing.

Uix 2.2.8 multi monitor related bug

Hi,
I have a multi monitor system, on the seconnd screen, there is the browser , showing a page which has a Date Picker and a LOV. If I click on one of the icons, the window opens, and then all of a sudden jumps to the first screen with IE, with Mozilla it already opens on the first one. Same screen would be nice though.

Hello Jan,
In the UIX javascript code the newly opened window's coordinates are checked to make sure it is not partially off the screen. If so, the window's coordinates are adjusted to put it on the screen.
I think there is a bug in IE which doesn't treat the multi-monitors as a single monitor, or something like that. Unfortunately, I doubt we can do anything about this.

Absolutely!
Install Splashtop2 on the PC and enable it to be controlled or ran from iPad or Reflection to simply allow iPad to serve as PC unwired monitor. With Splashtop and an Apple TV connected, you use the smartboard as usual, yet the PC and iPad can see the same content. The impaired child can even interact with the Smart Board via the iPad as if he were writing directly on the big screen. Erasing functions can be done by touching the Smart Board manual controls. Several variables are in play that cause this lack of functionality:
    Apple won't permit PC software that infringes its proprietary apps.
    Smart Board companies refuse to develop iPad apps because they feel threatened and are being replaced by iPads
    School districts think Apple TV is meant for copyright infringement and could expose them to safe harbor lawsuits
    Network administrators make it impossible to login Apple TVs because they don't want the streaming occurring
    Classrooms are not able to keep up with the technology of using the iPad
    Clicker companies refuse to play with iPad because they see it as a potential threat to their core business clients
    Apple is not working as hard as it could to exploit its capabilities in education, thus losing money in iPad sales
The bottom line is that we educators and technology developers are hurting our childern with petty conflicts.

ATI card + OS driver + multi monitor

Hello everyone,
I'm stuck configuring the RadeonHD drivers for multi monitor setup. The system starts with both screens cloned; logging in is in clone mode too. After that the second display is being turned of (no signal). Using xrandr --auto will enable the second display to life and clones the sreen again. xrandr --output DVI-I_1/analog --left-of DVI-I_2/analog will create a big desktop only the second display can only be used for a half screen mouse will go further anything else will not.
I've started with a autogenerated, by xorg, xorg.conf file and tweaked to the one below

Setting up ipad for my visually impaired system if anyone knows of any apps that would be suitable for things such as twitter and facebook that would be great.

Mouse pointer is unchangeable at 100% scaling in multi monitor setup with different resolutions

The problem: The mouse pointer becomes unchangeable in size, type, trails etc when 100% scaling is used. As in it reverts to the standard small white non-inverted, no trails,
no shadow 'pointer', no matter what options you select in the 'Mouse' control panel settings.<o:p></o:p>
This appears to be a scaling problem with the Windows 8/8.1 display, not an actual mouse problem. Judging by my own and other peoples experience it seems to happen mainly with multi
monitor setups where different screen resolutions are used. The issue occurs typically when 100% scaling for all monitors is used or this option is un-ticked and the 'change the size of all items' is on smallest (equivalent to 100%). <o:p></o:p>
If the scaling is set to 150% or greater the issue disappears and the mouse pointer becomes fully functional. Also bizarrely when the scaling is set to 100% if the screen is recorded
using a screen capture program, the recording of the screen shows the mouse pointer selected in the mouse options and not the default small white cursor that is present when recording it. Here is a link to a video where I explain and show the problem

I have every update installed without exception, latest drivers etc. I use a 55" 4k screen with 2x1080p monitors in portrait on either side. All are connected through 1 Nvidia

I'm looking into this issue but it will take me some time to provide a reply.
In the meantime I noticed that you have 3 monitors with 1x 55' and 2x27' - please have a try to only connect 1x27' monitor and see if issue persists.
Also please try to change the screen resolution to a lower size and see if issue persists.
Both suggestions are not solution, I just would like to know if it is related to multiple monitor or screen resolution.

T430s - cannot get supported multi-monitor configuration to work

I just purchased a new T430s and, overall, I've been very happy with it. However, I'm having trouble getting a particular multi-monitor configuration to work. Very simply, I am trying to get the very first configuration as is described on this page...

It is simply a 3-monitor setup where one monitor is external and hooked up via VGA, another monitor is external and hooked up via DisplayPort, and the third monitor is the actual laptop monitor. I simply cannot get this to work! I can plug in a single external monitor, but when I try and plug in a second, it always disables my laptop monitor, so I end up with only a 2-monitor setup. Can anyone please help?
*Also, I should note, I've called Lenovo Support 3 times after encountering this problem, and, suffice it to say, it was an EXTREMELY frustrating and discouraiging experience. All in all, I spent over 2 hours on the phone and each time, they essentially REFUSED to help me! They kept citing that it was a "configuration" issue and that it's not their problem, and then they'd forward me to another department which would then forward me right back to them. At one point, one rep said that I was essentially "**bleep** out of luck". Furthermore, when I was getting frustrated with the lack of help, I asked a rep to escalate the issue and allow me to talk to a manager. He said that he COULDN'T DO IT because the system wouldn't allow it, again, citing that it's a configuration issue and not their responsibility! Does anyone from Lenovo ever read these forums? Will someone PLEASE take ownership of this issue and help me out? I'm not asking for much! I just want to get a setup that you guys say is supported!
Sorry for the rant, but my interactions with Lenovo support have really been frustrating. Anyways, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

As far as I know...
The T430s supports external displays a little differently than the T420s did, and differently than the T430 and T530 do. There are a number of different discussions on T430s multiple display configs in the forum - you might search a few and just browse them to see the combinations others have tried and their experiences. Here is an official tip with specific configs that Lenovo supports for the T430s.
From our official tip, it appears that you cannot have both the LCD and external VGA and displayport. I think you can have 2 external displayport displays and either a 3rd external via VGA port, or the built in LCD. I remember trying out some of these a year or so ago, and I seem to recall that you needed a dock to get 3 external, or 2 external and the internal LCD to work on the T430s.

How do I avoid errors on a Multi - monitor setup?

Hi.
I want to use Photoshop CS6 on a Multi - monitor setup, using iGPU multi-monitor + GPU system for 4 monitors.
Preiously, I used Photoshop on a Multi - monitor setup without useing iGPU multi-monitor.
And, Photoshop worked well.
However, when I wanted to use 1 more monitor, my GPU supports only 3 monitors.
Then, I enabled iGPU multi-monitor function. It supports 2 more monitors.
At first, It worked. But, after I use "Free transform", "Transform" or something like these tools, Photoshop hang up!
I couldn't figure out the reason why these errors happened.
I need ways to avoid these errors.

Finally, I brok through this problem.
I show you how to do, in case of when you face to this problem.
The way to solve this problem is, simple, "buy a new GPU."
But, there is 1 important point, you should buy a same bland's GPU.
In my case, I have SAPPHIRE'S RADEON HD5670, and I bought SAPPHIRE'S RADEON HD 6450.
I think that Photoshop GPUsniffer was confused about GPU driver.
Because there were 2 drivers -- Radeon and Intel Graphics -- exist.
That's why Photoshop hang up.

Visually impaired and using a Mac

Hi everyone,
My mum for years has been using a PC w/ Windows; since she's visually impaired she's used Jaws and Zoomtext along with MS Office Suit to carry out all her needs. She doesn't work but she does a lot of volunteer work.
She's been hearing a lot about Macs and the built in features it offers and went to the local Apple store. After meeting with a sales agent she was pretty much sold a Mac. Now the problem is that its a HUGE learning curve for someone who's visually impaired to learn a completely new system. She purchased time one on one with Apple reps; but it seems that for her needs they aren't specifically able to help her.
She's had the system for about 3 weeks now and she's got her ups and downs with it. One big issue she has is that the built in voice-over feature doesn't respond well when using MS Office for Mac.
There are a number of choices she really has at this point;
1) Use Pages for word processing, however for her volunteer work all the files that come in are in a MS Word format. She's worried that using Pages to open/save Word files can mess up the file (What is the proper way to deal with these types of files). Her volunteer work is related to the Government and they can't afford to lose information or let it get corrupted.
2) An alternative is to install MS Windows XP w/ the Office suit on a separate partition. This way she's able to still function daily and not let the slow learning curve of Mac OS impact her work. But at the same time when she wants she can then switch over to the Mac OS and learn as she wants.
What do we need in order to accomplish #2? Does she need to buy a Windows for Mac disc? Along with another Office for Mac? Or can she use the existing Windows and Office discs that she had from her PC and install them?
Are there any good resources or websites that can help me get my mum comfortable with all the Accessibility features of a Mac?

Could you elaborate on that too? Office is a 3rd party product and if there are problems specific to it, Microsoft has their own support forums where they might be able to provide better assistance. Contrary to popular opinion, Microsoft makes some of the best Macintosh software. Also, Microsoft is starting to roll out Office 2011 for MacOS X. Perhaps it will improve the situation.

You can always open a Word document in Pages. You should be able to save documents with no trouble too. When doing cross-platform work, corruption is always possible, but it is unlikely that your mom would be able to corrupt all copies of a particular document. Government documents aren't that complex anyway.

When you are dealing with a Windows world, having a genuine Windows install as a backup sure can't hurt, even with no impairment.
What do we need in order to accomplish #2? Does she need to buy a Windows for Mac disc? Along with another Office for Mac? Or can she use the existing Windows and Office discs that she had from her PC and install them?
She should be able to use her existing media. She may have to call Microsoft if the activation fails, but that is no big deal. You just have to tell them that you are transferring your license to a new machine and will no longer be using the old one. I suggest running it in a virtual machine such as Parallels or VM Ware.
There is also a #3 option. You could try the various OpenOffice variants. You still have the same old cross-platform issues as with Pages. And they may have problems with accessibility like Office. But it is another option.

Does Adobe deliberately discriminate against the visually impaired?

Hi - I was puzzled by the lack of a file menu bar in the organizer when I recently installed PSE 9. After doing some research with the aid of this and other forums I realized that my having set the Windows 7 text size to 125% triggered an Adobe design flaw. I need a larger text size as I have a visual disability.
One of the most often used links for a "solution" is http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Setting_the_Windows.
To quote some of this reference "Microsoft user-interface standards require applications to support text sizes larger than 100%. This is especially important with the newer, high-resolution displays and for people with aging eyes. Adobe has chosen not to follow the standard."
I would put it in somewhat harsher language - Why does Adobe discriminate against those with visual disabilities? It doesn't make sense when the over-50 crowd is a fast-growing segment of the population.
While one of the suggested work-around's (changing the a setting to use the system font) had no effect, changing the text size to a custom size of 120% made the menu appear. Since the PSE 9 editor menu displays correctly at a setting of 125%, one can only wonder why Adobe would allow such a defect in its organizer software.
I am now aware that Adobe has the 96 dpi limit printed in small type on the box. Note that if you need and use a larger type you can't read this highly unusual limitation. Most people would not readily recognize the implications of such a warning even if they could read it.
I am hoping that this post will provide some incentive for Adobe to make their products more accessible to the visually impaired.

I am in total agreement with your statement. I had mine set to 125% and and it's darkness is overwhelming. Otherwise, you have to feel your way along. The light gray is sickening and no help whatsoever. I M a senior user also, over 75. If I hadn't purchased so many third-party actions and styles--that I actually love--I would say forget it. I am seriously thinking about installing PSE-5 on my new computer.

Multi Monitor Management Question

I'm running a three 30" Cinema Display config for photo editing but I don't always use all three monitors at the same time. Is there a way, or any third party software out there, that will enable me to turn off the extended desktop when I don't want to use all of my monitors, or am I forced to always plug/unplug the monitors (to force the resync) when I want to use them? System Preferences > Displays isn't much help in this regard. Thanks!

Basically to restate my question. When I decide to turn off my #1 (left) and #3 (right) monitor and just use my #2 (center), the pointer is always disappearing off the screen to the left or the right. Isn't there any multi-monitor control utility out there, or do I always have to crawl down on the floor, unplug my other monitors and restart (a real PIA).

I use Zoom Text as I am visually impaired and it is not compatable with Firefox 4. I need to go back to the earlier version of Firefox until this is handled by Zoom Text. How do I do that? Thanks, David

I asked Zoom Text about this and this is what they had to say.
"What is the specific version of ZoomText 9.1 you are using (In ZoomText click on Help -> About ZoomText -> Version)? Unfortunately the newer are supporting HTML5, Direct2D and other new hardware acceleration technologies designed to increase the speed and performance of web browsers. These new technologies bring new challenges for accessibility programs like ZoomText. More specifically, these technologies will have crippling adverse effects on ZoomText?s xFont, tracking and screen reading features.
Therefore, at this time we are advising ZoomText users not to install or upgrade to Internet Explorer 9, as doing so will result in a loss of ZoomText functionality within Internet Explorer, and possibly a decrease in personal productivity. We do want to assure you that we are working on overcoming these problems and will provide a solution as quickly as possible.
The other web browsers like Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera we do not have support for. The Firefox 4 with ZoomText you should have decent support for but not full support for it but you do have to have the updated version of ZoomText 9.19.1 and do the following as well http://www.aisquared.com/knowledge_base/more/zoomtext_with_firefox_4_loss_of_xfont/ for Firefox 4.
You are best to use IE 8 or 7 now or Firefox 3 or you can try 4. Thanks."
I am running the latest version of Zoom Text abnd the latest version of Firefox. I have done the "fix" suggested here but it had short lived relief if any. My preferred solution is to go back to running Firefox 3 until Zoom Text works around your new software updates.
Hint: You would make a whole lot of visually impaired folks on this planet real happy if you got together with the Zoom Text people and worked this out in a lickity-split fashion.

You might try using the add-on 'NoSquint' which allows numerous zoom options specific to each page you visit & keeps your settings - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/

In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side.

Evening all -
First post here at PS Gurus. I hope that you guys can lend your expertise in pinning down an issue that I am having and have also had on other PS versions. I am running
Windows 7 (64 bit) Ultimate
2600k / 8 gb ram / 256 Samsung SSD / 460 GTX 1GB
Matrox Triplehead 2 Go with x3 22" monitors (resolution 5040 x1050)
A fresh install of the trial version of PSE 9 is yielding corrupt main toolbar and options bar (for each tool selected). The application is expanding full screen on all three monitors just fine but the toolbar are corrupt - partly transparent / party compressed to the left. No matter what I have done in terms of resizing the application window the results are the same or get worse.
On another computer I installed PS CS5 (also under win7 64 bit environment) and I was having the same issue. However, at the time I thought the install was bad in some shape or form so I dropped the issue.
I am now considering PSE 9 but see that Win7 + Matrox just isn't working correctly with this combination of hardware / software components.
Has anyone see this issue or know of a potential fix? I have read a couple of threads on the net with similar issues but I don't see any resolution. Your help is greatly appreciated.

My main reason for testing PSE-O 9.0 was to find out if this "bug" was fixed. I can not use PSE-O to organize and show pictures the way I want to with this weaknes in place. Your answer is probably correct, bun not at all helpfull.
So thank you for trying, but my test of PSE O is over for now.
Does anybody out there know of other products that will do the trick?
